ugoiyke79e:hi ugoiyke79e, have no fear in purchasing an ET ticket. they have all the newest boeing aircrafts(ET operates majorly a boeing fleet) and even the new stunning airbus A350. people always surprise me when they talk down on ET(probably because its African) and then go on to fly airlines like Turkish(probably one of the worst carriers). the thing here is that you'll always get to where you're going but some experiences are terrible, trust me. ET customer service is very ok , hardly will they misplace your luggage and you will hardly see an ET itinerary with up to 4hrs transit time. the only annoying thing on this ET route to toronto is that they stop for an hr at dublin although very briefly and you may even be asleep and not notice this stopover honestly. for me, choosing a carrier largely depends on what part of the world i want to go to as i dont enjoy 10+ hrs flights(at least not anymore). so if im heading east towards asia and the middle east or australia for example, its most likely ET for cheaper fares but if money is not a problem, Etihad or Emirates because of outstanding customer service and huge brand new aircrafts or Quantas because its Quantas. if europe, Turkish (i despise the airline but its cheap and im a light traveler so i take my bag onboard.also, I love istanbul) or Iberia(now defunct and part of BA) or KLM if there is money. if west US/Canada, it has to be an european carrier like KLM or lufthansa(i love lufthansa but way too pricey. their economy ticket can even get you a turkish business class sometimes) or delta straight to ATL but this is always too pricey too (but you can always trick this if your're going to ATL by buying delta airlines LOS-JFK which will be about 300k cheaper than LOS-ATL, sounds weird but yes direct flights are far costlier than connecting flights, clear immigration at HJIA and enter ATL and abandon the ATL-JFK connection). the idea is that you pick a carrier whose hub(key city in carriers country where they take transits) is somewhat on the path to your destination, if not, you have to fly far east first and then fly far west resulting in 10+ sometimes 15+(Dxb to LAX) hours on one of the long haul flights. i hope you get the general idea. best of luck |
dyonpoint:hi. firstly, you have to read the forum to understand what is required of you. secondly, you are married and this is your new family so if you travel to canada, what will make you come back home? the conditions and documents that answer this question are what you need. you do not need an invitation letter to secure a canadian visa and people with no travel history secure visas too. however, the VO may wander why you particularly want to visit canada and not other places that are cheaper, closer and easier to secure their visas. if an entire family is travelling, which in this case you and your wife, the VO is even more uptight because you both can easily choose to not return. the VOs know that Canada is a vastly underpopulated country so you have to make them understand why you have chosen their country. that onus is on you. best of luck and keep your documents legit. |
Devaughn:Hi, this is a well detailed letter and comes plain as a high level of honesty from an applicant.if i were a VO, this would impress me. i really hope its not going to be a case of medicine after death. one question would be why you didnt explain this in your application in the first place; the VO may wonder. well, i really hope it goes well for you. good luck |
Epoh4:hi, apply for your case notes to understand your refusal in full. there are people who included all the required documentation but the assessing VO was not satisfied. the satisfaction comes from the ties and connection they see back home. if a VO is impressed, s/he will request for any missing document for clarification. you have to understand your refusal before you can improve your application. 185CAD is a lot of money. best of luck |
gentleiphy:Hi gentleiphy, once again, every application is different and assessed on its own merits. if verification delays, the decision will take longer time. |
Omodadi2:Hi, the refusal letter already says a lot. The VO wants to know why you are visiting Canada. Apparently, s/he wasn’t convinced. Once again, if a whole family is embarking on a holiday, it concerns a VO why this trip must be to canada and not somewhere else so the onus is then greater on the applicats to convince a VO. First, your child is a US citizen and doesn’t need a visa to go to canada. The VO knows this and the burden on you then becomes greater. If you travel with your husband and child, what is there to come back to really. If the visa is issued, things can be sold. Understand that a lot of people apply for PR via express entry from Nigeria and the VOs see the trends. They see people with so many belongings here migrating so it would be wise that in your next application, after reviewing and addressing GCMS concerns, to mention the immigration schemes and point out that you are not interested in them and use your landed properties and maybe second family to attach yourself more. Honestly, your documents look ok but I’m not a VO and these Canadian VOs are trained to see through an application without sighting an applicant. Secondly, I’m not sure the applying alone route is advisable but I guess you can try. You already filled a family IMM form and your husband and child are contained there. The VOs have documentation already of your family so if you apply alone, even if it’s issued by the time your husband applies, it may then be refused because the VO will clearly see what you’re trying to do. Anyway, follow your heart but first obtain and review your gcms notes. Best of luck |
Matanna:Hi matanna, this is absolutely normal. There is. I thing to be worried about here. Once you send the documents within the given time, processing will continue. Best of luck |
Smile4mee01:Hi, good travel history there. But you have to understand what the Canadian VO is looking for in a category-V visa. Ties for which you will return to which would seem strong as you have visited the US and U.K. and returned. However, these visas are still valid so why are you not going back there for your holiday; the VO May wander. A concrete reason why you have chosen to visit the country is essential. Make the VO understand that this is a temporary visit. For funding, your salary is more than enough and people with way less salaries get their visas. The task here is that whatever irregular money in any account has to be explained and with evidence. My personal suggestion however will be to not ply this route and wait for the admission and apply for a study permit instead. Its easier once your funding is intact. Also, Canada will cancel the category V visa when the study permit is approved and issue a category-S Visa so what’s the point. Its not like the US where people have both F1 and B1B2 affixed to the same travel document. Focus on the school, it’s an easier route. And please, keep your funding to your nuclear family. Best of luck |
nampofo:Dear nampofo, sorry for this refusal. only God knows how these VOs are trained and what they look out for completely because this looks good to me assuming every document backing the application is verifiable. Please do apply for your GCMS notes as advised to understand this refusal in full as the VOs are not bound to fully disclose refusal reasons initially. My guess however, is on the third reason. Obviously, the VO’s thought is that you plan to migrate with your family. Also, have you attempted to migrate to the UK, US, AUS, NZ before? Any of these may heave made the VO suspicious. Know that Canada, as part of security checks, has full access to first world countries immigration databases for reference ( read up the FCC conference and high value data sharing protocol). Understand that this is a country that encourage immigration the right way. So once an entire family is making a trip and its not for residency, it raises concerns as to why it must be Canada. You have been to the U.K. severally you mentioned even with your wife but haven’t visited with your daughter. The VO will wonder why the family is not visiting U.K., or turkey that is cheaper and closer with far more historical places to see or dubai that is finest, cheapest and closest. Your case notes will go a long way to clarify things so please receive it before you reapply. Alternatively, you may want to consider immigration. The Canadian PR through express entry is pretty straight forward. Head over to the thread here on nairaland to understand what it takes. Best of luck. https://www.nairaland.com/3999848/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled |
scaezar:Hi scaezar, be patient your application will come back to you soon. Don’t send emails to the visa office telling them you’re disappointed. Its not a good idea. If you have done your biometrics, it should reflect after some time. Maybe raise a CSE in this regard. Good luck |
mevisbleek:Dear mevisbleek, congrats on your sister’s TRV approval. Its always a good feeling. My concern is why you sent the mail to the accra visa office. There is a processing timeline given for ‘most’ applications not all for guidelines meaning that some will be faster and some will take way longer. People from Nigeria, India and Pakistan have applied for a Canadian visa with invitation from a native canadian citizen and it was refused because the assessing VO was not satisfied with the applicants circumstances back home and the citizen can do nothing about it. In my opinion, if they were not professionals, your email would have caused problems for your sister. A visa application is a request to visit another man’s land and its best to let them do their business. Your sisters application was not approved because of your email or because you’re a PR, it was approved because the VO was satisfied about her circumstances in Nigeria. This is a first come first served process unless document verification takes time. Be patient with these guys, it’s always best. |
travelpoint:Sir, your application was not approved because it was urgent or because you applied just 3 days into the US, it was approved because the VO was satisfied with your circumstances and you would have gotten approved from nigeria too. Applying in the US is not illegal or guaranteed, its just faster. People get approved and refused. If an applicant is not a resident in the US, it is not advisable to apply there it's that simple. If the VO finds it difficult to verify the documents which link you to Nigeria, they'll easily refuse the application. They cannot link you to the US as you hold a non-immigrant visa. Ties to ones home country is what a VO is looking for and it it more difficult to establish that from a foreign land. Thank you |
mesh2003:Hi mesh2003, Why is an applicant withholding this information? Its not like they forgot. They very well remember and since there is enough space, they should accept all of it. Visa refusals are not a bad thing especially if the grounds have been addressed. Advices should be dished to people for best practice not always what some other person did because the circumstances are not same and the VO is not the same either. Different people here have valid b1b2 visas after having been refused one earlier and then said 'no' to the Canadian visa refusal question and a refusal came straight mentioning that. Technically, it shouldn't matter since they have the visa that had been refused earlier but that's not how it works. Mention all countries and reasons you believe and how you have addressed them, that's the right thing to do. Thank you |
Devaughn:hi Devaughn, i am not sure why users keep telling you to not be worried because in my opinion, you should be. a user on this thread (page 117 i believe thats when i started on this thread) was denied a visa because she mentioned she had been denied a canadian visa but didnt mention other countries(she added etc and hoped the VO would contact if clarification is needed but a refusal letter came instead). why wouldnt you mention all of them and give reasons? each country would have refused the application for a reason which the VO may want to verify that you have addressed. this in a very long way, shows high level of honesty. you can even attach refusal letters and explain how you have overcome these issues. almost all first world countries come with detailed refusal letters except the US where a generic section 214b form is issued.expected information not brought forward may be considered a lie. and to be honest, applicants know these details about their circumstances in the time of the application but intentionally decide to not disclose them in many cases because they feel its too much baggage but it doesnt always go well. the form has attachable extra sheet meaning they are interested in every bit of detail you can provide. throw whatever explanation you deem fit to this issue because if you dont, it may not go well. also, when people give you suggestions about issues, also remember that they, in most cases, do not know the entire circumstance of the applicants (particularly why i like limiting my experience to my family and close friends) and that every single application is different. very best of luck on this one |
Opoki:hi Opoki, your chances cannot be told. twice is a lot so please apply for your case notes before making further applications. it is always a good idea. you cannot keep dashing out 185CAD without wanting to know why its not yielding desired results. money is not paramount here, and you dont need excess of it as people with 1million Naira get visas daily. you have to take your time and make your application a complete one by including all registration documents and desired papers. also never attempt to withhold previous refusals by any country, they never go well. best of luck. |
Liz2014:hi Liz2014, this may not be correct. you may have to read the IRCC act to understand what misrepresentation is. knowingly or unknowingly, people commit this crime and a ban is the capital punishment. some VOs, rarely, may be lenient enough to spot grave errors and give applicants a chance within a timeframe to clear the doubt or be punished but that is not common. final decisions rest on VOs but the factors being considered are based on the law which we know that they cannot break to satisfy anyone. people should be careful particularly when it comes to history between Canada and the US. |
Epoh4:dear Epoh4, it matters not. when applications made on the same day are not finalized at the same time, it is because documents verification are wasting time and there is nothing you can do but wait. exercise some patience.good luck |

hi mesh2003, i do not think this kind of error is what the mail service or CSE is for but then i may be wrong. this is a much more severe error and should be treated as such |
Tweesy:dear Tweesy, sorry for your dilemma. i have seen several wonderful suggestions offered by fellow nairalanders but i think i may have to differ on this one. there was a declaration signed at the end of your application to vouch that all information provided were accurate which you must have signed. a part requests for refusal history for canada and/or other countries, which no one knows what they do with it per say. you should not assume the intention of IRCC or any other immigration office. for IRCC, withholding information or assuming is a bad idea. someone here on this thread made this same assumption and it did not go well. so in my honest opinion, i will cancel my application, submit another one and in my new letter of explanation, i shall take the first paragraph after my introduction to explain what had happened and how it was an honest mistake after i must have admitted any refusals of course. to the best of my knowledge, the CSE and mail service are to add relevant information to your application not to tell a VO that the information you had vouched on is rather false. well, maybe there is another way to it but i have no knowledge of what it may be. very best of luck on this one. |
nifeicon:dear nifeicon, sorry for your refusal and thank you so much for sharing these details. firstly, dont pay lots of attention to all the reasons above, they can tick whatever they like as they are not bound by law to disclose details in the refusal letter. in my opinion, your graduation was a very concrete reason to visit as they cant choose another country to attend your convocation in except canada and Canada issue a lot of first time travelers visas so reasons 1 and 2 are out of it.the 3rd reason however is the topic of the VOs concern and s/he used the 4th and 5th reasons to explain further. the 4th reason is what may have put the VO off. the financing documentation may have been poor. s/he mentioned of concerns to sustain the applicant while in canada and also to effect departure meaning something to fall back on when the applicant returns indicating that you may have been short of reasonable and/or verifiable documents about your mother's business, income and money flow. the 5th reason also talked about you and your sponsorship documentation. some VOs are not as patient as others. a VO can dig to find out if you as the host has a job by simply running your records but some others may only verify what you have provided and if have provided nothing, then thats it. the 4th and 5th reasons summarize the reasons and thats what you need to focus on should you wish to reapply. best of luck |
bolajifive:hi bolajifive, you want to casually waste 370CAD? thats a return ticket from Toronto-Newyork-Toronto (on a delta/United combo not AirCanada). if you can casually cancel the application, why make it in the first place? you have mentioned no intention above to use the passport. be informed that based on the timelines of your application, there is most likely an important verification document being awaited and if you pull the passport, it may likely come with a refusal letter as the VO may be forced to process the application without the document.best of luck |
josafunmi:dear josafunmi, hopefully you have not turned in your application just yet because you may have to wait till your circumstances improve. no one can tell your chances, only a canadian VO can. you can however, vet your application by being honest to the concerns a VO may raise. you didnt mention you have a job. you just completed NYSC so you're not tied back home in anyway and you are 23 which is well within the high risk age of intending immigrants. you also have someone in Canada who can help you to settle in easily. i think you should wait for sometime, establish yourself in Nigeria before applying so you get value for the money being spent. the reason you are visiting is also crucial in your application so if it must be Canada, you have to have a concrete reason for it. this is probably not the only relative you have abroad so why are you visiting this particular one? who is s/he? how are you related? can you prove the relationship?best of luck |
akangunapase:hi akangunapase, the processing times you should work with is the one displayed on CIC website on the day your application was submitted but this is only a guideline nonetheless. just be patient. i know it can be hard to wait but there isnt much you can do in this case. best of luck. |
Rachie83:hi Rachie83, with a valid US visa, a holder can visit Georgia(the country and must be flying into Tbilisi), Turkey(must be flying into istanbul Atartuk and on Turkish Air or specified airlines), Mexico, US territories such a s Pueto Rico and even do a Transit in the UK(under certain conditions) but cannot fly through or to Canada. by through, i mean transit, as Canada and the US do not support air-side transits so you must pick your bags, go through immigration and CBSA/CBP as the case may be, then check your bags for your connecting flight. to answer your question, you will need a canadian visa for this venture. this can be obtained home or abroad in the US but my advise is always on the former.best of luck |
Liz2014:hi Liz2014, congratulations. just a quick one, if you are a Canadian PR and have a good job, the super visa will be in order for your parents so in case you want them or any of them to stay beyond six months. look into it on CIC's website, you may find it useful. |
Yjc07:hi Yjc07, this decision completely depends on you, how bad you want the canadian visa and how important the film festivals are. as a quick note, if this film festival is not directly in line with your work and/or you academic qualifications, this application may likely be refused. best of luck |
stjsd:dear stjsd, you have to understand how the process works. the processing times are just guidelines. and the cic website states that most, not all, applications are processed within the time frame. if there is delay in verification of any document, the VO will not go ahead with processing. its that simple. so if you applied online, sometimes you get change notification emails but when you log on, you see no change. this is because a VO had just logged on to resume your application but a document he/she awaits has not been submitted by a verifying institution who issued it. be patient, your application will surely come back to you. worry will not speed it up. best of luck. |
Menakay:dear Menakay, you need to calm down sir. a VO will not refuse an application for 'no good reason'. the VO does not know the applicant so this is not a personal decision. there are qualities and attachments the VO is looking out for that the applicant falls short of. an ex senior colleague of mine who earns over 500,000NGN lived and studied in the UK for 5years, did a 1-year program in India and has his third US B1B2 visa but when he applied for a canadian visa even while on a vist to the US, it was denied. he even has 2 children, an irish citizen and a US citizen. he then told me that the VO saw his heart that he was never going to return. in my knowledge and from people i know personally, the Australian and New Zealand visas carry far more weight than the UK visa. talking of the UK, once you have money(not lodged) and have engagements, its about the easiest visa to get after the US visa. the immigration lawyer you contacted will probably get the case notes as well and have a look at it and if he is honest, he will advise you to not appeal if the reasons are concrete. an immigration lawyer is not superior to a VO and even if he wins the appeal, if a CBSA officer is unsatisfied with the circumstances of the issuance, the immigration lawyer cannot help in that case as a CBSA officer's decision at POE, unfortunately, is final. best of luck |
Emvicprints1:hi Emvicprints1, it depends. if this person is a member of your nuclear family, they can sponsor you and you must show evidence of the relationship. but this sponsorship is not a VOs primary concern. you must prove, with relevant and verifiable documents, that you are well established in NIgeria and shall return. a canadian VO is trained to see through your application without sighting you and if they werent so well trained, getting other 1st world countries visas wouldnt be a walkover when you have visited canada and have enough money as it is today, at least in Nigeria. |
highway04:dear Highway04, your question is quite confusing. how do you mean why they collect visa fee? 185CAD which can even be for a 5-year visa? the US charge 160USD for a 1-3 minutes(ideally) interview for adjudication by a VO and are not even interested in documents and would not issue beyond 2 years. the UK charge 131USD (last i applied) for a 6-month visa and few hundred short of a thousand dollars for 5-10 years. the fee is a processing fee. the VOs are workers and have to be paid. the consulate has to be run and all staff paid. several companies in Nigeria, even indigenous ones, pay their staff over 200USD as daily estacodes when on official duties abroad. @KaptainAfrica, this is a burden brought upon us by ourselves.people always misunderstand that a visa is not by force and cant even guarantee entry. people also forget that everyone's circumstance is different. until my sister was a PR, she never flew into Canada via pearson airport in Toronto because of the horror stories she has heard of the place. last year, my junior sister spent 14 hours being queried at pearson but just months later, i spent less than 2 minutes with the CBSA officer with whom i was even smiling. if a country refuses you visa for a vacation, going somewhere else is best because appealing may even suggest that there is a hidden agenda.worse, the appeal can even go in your favour and you can be issued a 1-month visa. what then are you going to do with that? about sponsorships, we have discussed severally that it does not make sense to take your sponsorship outside your nuclear family. an uncle has more pressing things to do than to sponsor your vacation abroad and in most cases, individuals cant even prove, with documents especially birth certs and family tree, that this individual is indeed a blood relative. a visa applicant must qualify for an application himself before external factors are considered and honestly, money is not the primary issue for Canada.people with 800,000NGN as account balance get visas daily. you must vet your application unbiased before you submit it because only then can you attempt to see the picture from a VOs eyes. |
rinw:Dear rinw, I have personally not tried this out as I like to have my visas before plans are made but it is done. When the application is approved, you will need to contact cic to issue a letter that will permit you to submit it in the center nearest to you but i think this is risky as you have 30days to turn in your passport. Well, you can try but I don't see why the rush when you can settle and get things done properly. About sending it in via courier, I am not conversant with that approach. I know no one personally that has done that. You can contact vfs for clarification on this one. Best of luck |
