Gov. Umahi Directs Reopening Of All Ebonyi Schools On October 5, Lifts Other Restrictions
IgbereTV reports that the governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has directed the resumption of all educational institutions in the state. He also lifted all restrictions om social gathering and business activities which was in place in the state, following the emergence of COVID-19.
This information was made available to IgbereTV by the commissioner for information in the state, Hon. Barr. Uchenna Orji.
The statement reads:
“SPECIAL PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
In furtherance of the state post COVID-19 economic recovery plans, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by provisions of Ebonyi State Coronavirus and other Dangerous Infectious Diseases and Related Matters Law 005 of 2020 and other relevant Laws, and subject to the NCDC COVID-19 Protocols and other directives of the Presidential Task on COVID-19, has issued proclaimations relapsing restrictions on events and gathering of persons in the state.
In this regard therefore, His Excellency the Governor has directed as follows:
1) That all public and private schools from primary to tertiary levels shall re-open on 5th October 2020
2) That all restrictions in respect of movement order on public burials/ wake keeps, weddings, conferences, meetings, festivals, religious services/ gatherings, etc are hereby lifted.
3) That all closures of public places such as event centres, bars, places of worship, educational institutions, public parks, night clubs, cinemas, viewing centres and other such public places are hereby lifted
4) That all restrictions on conduct of business and commercial activities are hereby rescinded
5) That all regulations in respect of wearing of facemasks, washing of hands, use of hand sanitizers and social distancing are still in force in public places,events and gatherings
6)The Governor further charges all security agencies and public office holders especially the Chairmen of Local Government Areas and Coordinators of Development Centres to enforce the subsisting regulations contained in the proclaimation hereof in the interest of the safety and health of our people."

IgbereTV reports that four police officers have been dismissed from the Kwara State Police Command after being found guilty of misconduct and extortion of a suspect.
Confirming the news to newsmen, spokesperson of the command, Peter Okasanmi revealed that eight other officers were also sanctioned for related offences. It was further learnt that the state police commissioner has ordered a retrial in one of the cases involving the four officers.
Okasanmi said “One of the cases tried, reviewed and in which punishment of dismissal was upheld involved the duo of ex-Sgt Sola Akano, and ex- Cpl Babatunde Glorious. They were alleged to have illegally arrested a suspect, booked the suspect already in their custody out on enquiry, but took him to his bank, where he was made to empty his bank account, withdrawing the sum of N1,190,000 for the dismissed officers.
“Not done, they again demanded and insisted on the sum of N200,000 bail which they also collected from members of the suspect’s family before releasing him. The duo also seized the two phones of the suspect and as at the time of their arrest, the two phones had already been checked and converted to their personal use.
“It was after the suspect regained his freedom that the matter was brought before the police commissioner, who ordered the investigation of the two ex-non commissioned officers."
Osun State Police Command have arrested a Nurse identified as Tunde Oyeniran, for allegedly using a cutlass to kill his wife and their two children at their home in Inisa town in the state on Friday, July 24.
Osun State Police Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed this to newsmen, said Oyeniran allegedly killed his wife and children with a cutlass and thereafter used the cutlass to inflict cuts on himself in the hand and stomach. He then raised an alarm claiming that his family was attacked by hoodlums.
Opalola said Oyeniran has been arrested and is currently being treated for the injuries on his body. She said a preliminary investigation revealed a foul play. She said men of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department have already commenced investigation to unravel the mystery behind the attack.
“From the information available to us, the incident happened around 11pm last Friday in Inisa. The suspect reportedly used a cutlass to kill his wife, Sarah, and the two children living with them.
Three corpses recovered from the scene have been deposited in a morgue in Ikirun for post-mortem examination. A cutlass was also recovered from the scene. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, has directed thorough investigation into the incident.”

Edo College of Education Union March To Gov. Obaseki To Demand Their 11-Months Salaries And Pensions (Photos)
IgbereTV reports that the Coalition of Unions comprising COEASU, SSCUOEN, NASU And Pensioners, of College of Education, Ekiadolor Edo State, on Monday morning assembled themselves for a march to Edo State Government House to demand payment of their 11-month-old salaries and pensions owed them by the Obaseki's administration.
The union members said the non-payment of their salaries and pension has caused them severe hardship. The member said they are already fed up with their condition and are therefore not afraid to march to the Government House.
The selection of a northerner, Aisha Umaru, aka Kaisha as one of the BBNaija ‘lockdown’ housemates has stirred reactions from Nigerians on social media, IgbereTV reports.
Kaisha who is an entrepreneur from Sokoto State, on her arrival to the BBNaija house, told Ebuka Obi-Uchendu that she is a goal getter, dramatic but very emotional.

Lady Who Claims She Got Selected As BBNaija Housemate, Weeps After Her Exclusion From The Show (Photos, Video)
A lady has lamented her exclusion from the 2020 Big Brother Naija Reality TV Show.
In a video captured by IgbereTV, the lady said she filled the BBNaija online registration form on 20th May 2020, and also did the online audition afterwards.
On 17th July, she alleged that she received a mail congratulating her for being part of the housemates for the season.
However, on getting the notification, she discovered it was all a scam and she has appealed to BBNaija organisers to render help to her.
The show started last night and she was not included as one of the housemates for the season.

IgbereTV reports that Miss Chinenyenwa Kosisochukwu Ngini, popularly known as Swanky was involved in a ghastly fire accident from a gas explosion at her residence in Awka on Thursday 25th June, 2020.
According to information IgbereTV obtained from Swanky's Uncle, Chuma Ngini, the accident occured when she tried to boil a little hot water for tea with her gas cylinder. Unknown to her, the gas cylinder was leaking in the night prior to the morning of the incident. As she bent down to ignite the fire that she will use to boil the little water in the kettle the gas cylinder immediately exploded damaging her body seriously.
Chuma said that Swanky didn't make any phone call near the gas cooker that caused the explosion as was erroneously posted by a Facebook user.
She was later rescued from the fire incident and rushed to the hospital by family and friends but she couldn't make it.
Swanky bravely fought for her life at the hospital but she finally gave up the ghost few hours later.
Swanky is from Amawbia in Anambra State.

Enugu MoW&I Says Ogbete Pedestrian Bridge Has No Structural Defects, Safe For Public Use On Completion (Photos)

IgbereTV reports that the Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has reacted to what it described as “a mischievous and false graphic illustration of crack” on the ongoing Pedestrian Crossing Bridge, at Ogbete Main Market, Enugu, trending on social media.
In a statement, shortly after reassessing the project to re-ascertain its structural integrity following the public outcry over the misleading images on social media, the Ministry maintained that “the bridge structure is intact” stressing the picture showing a crack was misleading and does not represents the true image of the structure.
The Ministry explained that there is no crack on the pedestrian bride but “a designed construction joint at mid span pier which is applicable to other similar bridges”.
According to the Ministry, “there are no structural defects from the stair flights through the landings to the beams, and down through the piers to the foundation”.
It therefore, advised those behind the misleading and false pictures on social media to always seek clarifications from the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

Gov Masari Says Yan’sakai Security Volunteers/Informants Cause Bandits’ Attacks, Killings in Katsina
Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has said that the insecurity witnessed in the state is being caused by the activities of volunteers popularly known as Yan’sakai.
According to TMS Media reports, the Governor said this while addressing the victims of banditry and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Faskari and Dandume Local Government Areas of the State during a sympathy visit to them at their camps.
Governor Masari, who was accompanied by his Deputy, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu; the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mustapha Inuwa and other top government officials and security chiefs, on Saturday visited Kadisau village, IDPs camps in Faskari Model Primary School and Dandume Primary School respectively. The two camps have a combine number of over 4,688 IDPs, mostly women and children as at the time of the visit.
He said: “We don’t accept or approve Yan’sakai because in most cases, they are the ones that trigger mass killings. Yan’sakai will travel 20 or 30kms from their place to another place and kill a Fulani or anybody they suspect to be bandit.
“When the Fulani people and bandits in the forest come out, they attack a nearest community that was not involved in the killing of the person alleged to have been killed by them.
“It has happened in Kadisau and many other places that we saw massive killings. We don’t approve the activities of Yan’sakai but the vigilantes working with the police is what we are working to make sure that they are properly trained to assist the police before the coming of community policing.”
Governor Masari, during the sympathy visit, stated to that joint security operatives would go after the bandits, as government will continue to work assiduously so as to put an end to the indiscriminate killings and kidnapping in the state in order enable the displaced persons return to their homes.
TMS Media reports that the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolopolo, Ewuare II, has condemned the attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari and other eminent persons by one Eranomigho Edegbe.
In a press release made available to TMS Media by the Secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, the Oba said the relationship between the Palace and the President was unparalleled.
The Oba said that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had always respected not just the traditional institutions in Edo State, but also the Palace of the Oba of Benin.

The federal government has revealed that more than one million applications have been received on the N-Power portal since it opened on Friday night.
According to TMS Media report, the revelation was made in a statement signed by Rhoda Iliya, the deputy director information, ministry of humanitarian affairs disaster management and social development, on Sunday.
The Batch C application commenced at 11:45pm on June 26, 2020, and closes on June 28, 2020.
“The ministry wishes to reiterate that all young Nigerians between the ages of 18-35 with or without formal education can apply for a slot in the new program which would be very focused on agriculture,” the statement read.
“The number of applications so far received is an indication of the number of our youths who need jobs and the confidence in the program.
“The ministry will continue to collaborate with its technical partners to provide timely support to all applicants.
“The selection process would be fair and transparent and the public would also be carried along at every stage.
“The portal is open for all Nigerians who meet the application criteria.”
