Man Recounts Attempting Suicide As A Child Because He Was Not Intelligent (Photos)
Screenwriter Michael Ogah has recounted constantly feeling sad and attempting suicide as a child because he was always compared to other kids, IgbereTV reports.
Michael said he was not as intelligent academically as most kids and it troubled him because he always took the last position in class.
He said he once wrote a letter to God, begging him to make him better academically, and he threw the letter to the sky. The following day, he found the note on the floor, crumbled and beaten by the rain, and this made him sadder.
He recalled sitting in his mother's kitchen with a knife, trying to end it all.
He wrote on his Instagram handle:
"As a child I had sad eyes, and I cried a lot. I remember writing a letter to God one night prep. Soon after I excused myself from class and folded the letter into a paper airplane I sent to the sky. In the letter I asked God to make me, not the most intelligent kid in my class, but fairly okay (because I had been coming last in class for too long and I was tired of feeling like a failure). The next morning, I was sweeping the back of my classroom when I saw my letter in the grass. It was all crumpled and beaten by rain. “God never got my letter, He never got it. I will never be intelligent,” I wept. All that is in the past now, but I can’t help seeing my younger self in children of nowadays. I hear parents say to their children, “Why won’t you just be like your brother or your sister” and my heart breaks. I think back to times I sat on the floor in my mother’s kitchen as a ten year old with a knife to my stomach. I wanted to end harsh words thrown at me; words like “Why are you so weak?” Or “ Why are you so dumb?” When I started writing I wanted to portray the beauty of weakness, and to date I don’t care what anybody thinks about it. Happy new month, everyone, and to parents in the house, please be kind with your words; children are fragile, handle them with care."
Asked whether he later became intelligent, he responded: "I had a phase where all seemed perfect. I think it taught me that hard times don’t last, and some times it is all about how I perceive what I am going through."

'Agbani Darego Did Not Bleach Or Surgically Enhance Herself. Yet, She Is Married, Has a Child' - Reno Omokri
Reno Omokri took to his Instagram page on Thursday morning, November 26 to throw jabs at women who bleached their skin and surgically enhanced their bodies, IgbereTV reports.
Using former Miss World, Agbani Darego-Danjuma as an example, the former presidential aide averred that women do not have to bleach or undergo surgical enhancement to be pretty.
According to him, Agbani did not bleach her skin or undergo surgical procedure and she still ended up getting married, having a child, and is a ''source of joy to herself and her race.''
His post reads:
"When you bleach and surgically enhance your body, you are not just saying ‘I hate myself’, you also teach young dark skinned girls to likewise hate themselves. No matter how many rich old men date you, you remain a danger to yourself and society! Love your dark skin. Live a life worthy of emulation. Look at your photos before you bleached. You were the epitome of beauty. A natural African woman. You do not need to be light skinned and have surgically enhanced features to be loved. You were already lovely.
Look at @AgbaniDarego. The first and only Nigerian to win the Miss World Pageant. Black and beautiful. She did not bleach or surgically enhance herself. Yet, she is married, has a child, and is a thing of joy to herself and her race. A beacon of virtue and pride to the Black Race.
Young Black girls can look at her and feel beautiful. Black is Beautiful. Say it with me-I’m Black and I am proud!'' How Maradona Broke Nigeria's Heart; Played His Last Game Against Nigeria (Throwback)
Late football legend, Diego Maradona last made his last international appearance for Argentina during their second group game against Nigeria at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, IgbereTV recalls.
Maradona was 33 years of age at that time as he was obviously star of the match, but the South American team had to battle for victory after Samson Siasia had put the Super Eagles ahead as early as the 8th minute. Argentina leveled-up through Claudio Caniggia in the 21st minute after goalkeeper Peter Rufai spilled a free kick to his path as the striker followed-up with a rebound to make it 1-1.
Barely seven minutes later, Maradona broke the hearts of Nigerians, when he cheekily caught the Nigerian defense unaware when he passed to Caniggia on the left flank before striker ‘wired’ the ball into the far post leaving Rufai hapless in goal.
Argentina won the tie 2-1, but that didn’t stop Nigeria from winning the group which also had Bulgaria and Greece. Argentina qualified as one of the best third-placed teams. Diego Maradona played his last international match at USA 94.
However after the game against the Super Eagles, Maradona was randomly selected for a doping test and after five days, result showed he had a banned stimulant (ephedrine) on June 25.
He was consequently barred from participating in the rest of the competition. And during a press conference after the discovery, the legend famously cried to the press: “They have cut off my legs.” It was the controversy that led to the end of his international career, and things went from bad to worse with Argentina losing their last group game 2-0 to Bulgaria.
A Nigerian man has narrated how he prophesied about marrying his wife when he was just 3-years-old, IgbereTV reports.
@thepoeticson who shared a throwback photo of him and his wife and a photo from their wedding ceremony, disclosed that his parents and his in-laws have always been friends.
He revealed that he was told that when he was just 3-years-old, his placed his hand on the belly of his wife's mother who was pregnant with her at that time and prophesied about her being his wife.
He tweeted;
"You asked for the full story so here it is: @Heeldarh’s parents and mine had been friends since before either of us were born and they are till now. So when her mum was pregnant for her, she came to my house one day ( I was three years old at that time).
I was told that I reached out, touched her belly and told her that she was going to give birth to a girl and that the girl will be my wife. Why I say I was told is because I can’t say that I vividly remember that day even though I now have flashes of it. I only grew up hearing the stories and on her first birthday, we were made to take this picture.
Growing up, we never attended the same schools from primary school till university but we saw each other in church from time to time. She struck me as a very pretty girl and because she was tall she was my spec but I never had the liver to talk to her. I remember one time when she was standing beside her mum’s car after church (she remembers that day because she said she wanted to talk to me too). I wanted to approach her but my confidence made me take a detour.
Anyway, fast forward to 2016. She reached out to me on Facebook on her way back to school. She said hi, and we began to talk. In order to break the ice, I brought up the conversation about the prophecy and I asked her if she knew I prophesied her birth.
She said her mum had told her and we hit it off from there. From friends, to lovers, to engaged. When we went to pay her dowry, my mum told the story in front of many witnesses who concurred with Hilda’s mum being the chief witness. That was a life changing moment for me.
It shaped my faith and my reality about God and Jesus Christ. With childlike faith I accepted the prophecy and made it my own just like how I believed the Jesus I was told about as a kid with this same faith. It was then that it dawned on me that I had never seen Jesus before I believed in him. I had only heard from witnesses about who He is, what He did, and the things He promised. The relationship I have with Hilda is a representation of the relationship God desires to have with all humanity.
When I was younger, I didn’t believe that I could be loved because I got addicted to pornography and masturbation at a very young age and I grew up with so many insecurities,discomforts, and many other addictions. This feeling of insecurity and thinking I could not be loved is a feeling that was shared by Hilda as well.
She grew up feeling that way. But when we met Jesus, we found love. He became my friend and helped me to overcome all my addictions. He helped Hilda overcome her insecurities. His purpose is for us to enter into a relationship with him through The Holy Spirit which will end in a consummation when Jesus comes for His bride. When we agree, he begins a relationship with us Through the Holy Spirit.
We pray (in relationship terms it is talking on the phone), we have glimpses of each other through reading the bible, dreams and visions and we long for the moment when we will be together. Just like dating, we are not in our home physically but we have an intimate relationship that is yet to be consummated. There are rough times but we settle our differences. We learn love and forgiveness. Through marriage, we get together.
He comes to take His bride home just like how I came to take my bride home. My bride, she’s the only one of her kind. That’s how Christ will come to take a united church. Christ will come to take us home to be with him forever. Only those who love him will be taken up. Jesus, after paying the price."

Charly Boy Apologizes To His Daughter For Maltreating Her Because She Is Lesbian
Charley Boy, aka Area Fada, has written an open letter to apologize to his daughter for the way he treated her after she came out as a lesbian, IgbereTV reports.
Charly Boy had shared a post last week, saying he's proud to have a lesbian daughter and he supports her completely. But his daughter, Dewy Oputa hit back, stating that her father doesn't pick her calls and she was rendered homeless after she publicized her sexuality. She accused her dad of using her to chase clout as father of the year online, while caring nothing about her in real life.
Charly Boy has now responded. He said he was amused by his daughter's public condemnation because it's the same way he and his father - former Supreme Court justice Chukwudifu Oputa - butted heads before he was able to be independent.
"Lion no fit born goat, " he added.
He asked Dewy to forgive him and promised to allow her tell her story and to respect her perspectives.
He wrote:
"My Dear Dewy,
I know the last few days may have been tough for you flowing from my Friday post “For Parents Only” on my Instagram.
I apologize if my post rubbed you the wrong way, for this I am deeply sorry, my bad. Forgive me.
But Honestly, I was talking to parents trying to get them to understand that they-can only give good advice or put their children on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands.
I came into parenting the way most of us did — knowing nothing but trying to learn everything, becos, who no go no fit know. The journey of parenthood is an emotional roller-coaster, filled with happiness, sadness, worries, frustration, pride, excitement and much more. Parenting is an amazing adventure.
When people dey yab me say you dey tackle me for social media, I just dey laff. I dey laff because Na so I tackle my papa before I collect my independence. Lion no fit born goat. Never forget that the Oputa’s are very special people, and in you I see me.
Since Saturday morning I have received thousands of phone calls from parents and young people who feel disconnected with their parents. Their testimony has been quite insightful. I was only able to offer a listening ear and soothing words, but I feel taller because our story inspired thousands. That’s a good thing.
My darling, I promise to allow you tell your story like I have been able to tell mine. I respect your perspectives and I understand. I brought you all up as Global Kids and not as timid village champions.
Let’s just go back to the friendship we have been working on. I love you and no one can contest, not even you.

Posting photos ex-First lady of Nigeria, lady Maryam Babangida, which he used as an example of natural beauty, Reno wrote:

President Muhammadu Buhari has blamed the country's current state of recession on the COVID-19 pandemic, IgbereTV reports.
The President said this while declaring open the 26th Nigerian Economic Summit with the theme: “Building Partnerships for Resilience’’.
Buhari who was represented by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, said the decline in the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) came after 12 successive quarters of positive growth. He also added that the lockdowns, disruption in global supply chains, business failures and rising unemployment caused the recent recession.
The President said;
“We can all recall that during the lockdown, farming did not take place, businesses were closed; schools were closed as were hotels and restaurants.
“Also, airlines stopped flying, while inter-state commerce was disrupted.
“The economy only began to recover when these activities resumed and if we are able to sustain the nearly three percentage point increase from the second quarter decline of minus 6.1 per cent, the performance in the fourth quarter could take us into positive territory."
Buhari who disclosed his adminstration's effort to mitigate such impact led to the introduction of the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP), further revealed that all the programmes in the ESP are reliant on the private sector playing a key role in creating and conserving jobs and the production and delivery of services in agriculture, housing, solar power and digital technologies.
He added;
“Of course, an improvement in global economic conditions, including the restoration of global supply chains and resumption of exports and remittances, should enable a V-shaped recovery.
“We expect, in the same spirit of partnership, that the private sector will complement these efforts by making maximum use of the provisions of the ESP and the Finance Bill when it is passed by the National Assembly and also by retaining and creating jobs so as to keep people at work.
“In a similar spirit of partnership, private sector enterprises should also pay their due taxes."
Buhari also noted that partnerships are essential and also necessary for framing medium and long-term development plans as the nation combats the COVID-19 pandemic. Pointing out that the private sector had a key role to play in the efforts to build a more resilient and competitive economy as expressed in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, the President further averred that private companies in design, construction, logistics and finance were very much engaged in the nation’s infrastructural projects in power and rail as well as road and bridges.
He said;
“I am pleased to inform in this regard that we are working actively with the CBN, the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority and state governments under the auspices of the National Economic Council to design and put in place a N15 billion Infraco Fund, which will be independently managed.
“The Infraco Fund will help to close the national infrastructural gap and provide a firm basis for increasing national economic productivity and growth."

Former Governor of Imo state and senator representing Imo West Senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha has hinted on contesting in the 2023 presidential election, IgbereTV reports.
The former Governor who spoke as he received a group called Igbos for Rochas 2023 President, led by Jeff Nwaoha from the five states of the Southeast zone, stated that it is time for the Igbos to produce the next president of Nigeria.
Okorocha noted that all regions have produced a president asides the South-East. He said;
“I am happy because you find me worthy. I am happy because you have made huge sacrifices driving through the long distance to meet with me on Nigeria’s presidency. I have read in between lines of your submission. That you want a Nigerian presidency of Igbo extraction and you have found me worthy for this position. I feel honoured and I am happy.
“Let me salute you in the manner which you have conducted yourself in a more peaceful approach and this is commendable.
“It is true that Igbo are highly misunderstood but allow me to say that Igbo are the most peaceful Nigerians and wherever you find them they are building bridges of peace and economic development. The Igbos are the only people that have invested more outside than what they had invested in their own land.
“Igbo people alone cannot make the president of Nigeria. We need the support of other regions of this country to produce the president of Nigeria. We need the Hausa, Yoruba and other regions to be able to produce the presidency.
“For me, I have run for this office of the presidency using different political parties and up to three times now, I have run for the office of the presidency under the ANPP, and the second time under PDP, the third time in APC, and now If I must run it is for the unity of Nigeria. If I must run, it must be for the empowerment of the youths of Nigeria, and if I must run for the presidency, it will be to make this nation compete with other greater nations of the world economically.
“The North has produced a president, the West has produced the president and the South-south has also produced a president of this country and we have seen all they have done. It is time for Igbo to produce a president and let us see how the Igbo will change this country.”
