Phema: It's generally inexpensive. Bride price in my villa is 10k for non indigens. You will also be given a list of some items to buy; tubers of yam, gallons of palm wine, kola nut, crates of beer etc. 100k should be enough for everything. This excludes the money for entertainment though.
HML in advance. Welcome to my hood! Ok for instance my girls parents are all based in lagos, does dat entail dat if we want to prepare for the traditional wedding it will be held here in lagos or we would have to return back to their village to hold the traditional wedding?am still confused here on this cos she was saying it can still be done here in lagos I mean the traditional wedding since her folks are and family are all based in lag. |

Romance › Re: The Insensitivity Of Some Toasters by jayedu108: 12:15pm On May 10, 2015 |
brushstrokes: At the risk of coming across as obnoxious, I will like to appeal to a group of people known as toasters, males and females inclusive. Let's get this ball rolling..... You've met someone you're attracted to, exchanged contacts and now you're following up on your pursuit of happiness. Nothing bad here, it's a process that have yielded beautiful unions. However, the wooing could take a wrong turn when either knowingly or unknowingly insensitivity creeps in, mostly in the form of placing calls.
Please moderate the number of times you call. Calling 12 times a day with some SMS in between does not in any way come across as being cool! One is in the office with unrealistic deadlines staring at you with big pleading eyes and someone is ringing you inconsistently! What is it you have to say that can't wait till after office hours There's instant messaging if you really need to make contact.
Now one is home after a long day and willing to talk. Then the call refused to end, 20 minutes and counting. Meanwhile the essence of the conversation ended 10 minutes ago. It does not help that the current brands of smartphones heat up with slight provocation. So here you are with tired eyes, weary bones beckoning for sleep and a ear acting as a heat conductor to your hot phone listening to an unending chatter. You are not being refreshing Mr/Ms toaster, you are adding to the stress of the day.
The one that ticks me off most, that makes steam pour out of the pores of my skin is calling very early in the morning during weekends and public holiday! Let me be blunt here, that sh.it ain't dope!. If it's not an emergency, don't do that! Emergency only entails someone dying or someone has died. Why do you want to talk about around 5am on a Saturday morning? Wtf! It's an aberration, violation of my right as a person who deserves at least 8 hours of sleep on a weekend Please there's nothing romantic about doing this, it's not a grand gesture, it's not loving. It's core insensitivity.
The caveat however is that some ladies may like all of the gestures above, please it's your job to identify such and act accordingly. As for me, it crosses the line of being loving to being a disturbance. Give a girl some space to have time for other things (her family, friends, hobbies, sleep ) and also to miss you. Thank you!
*end of rant* We don't care and don't wanna know who calls you or don't,please channel ur anger to the people distubing ur life not bringing up here disturbing our peace tot u had better ting to say not knowing I had to come and read this rubbish abeg going forward don't come and put this up again pls take note. |

chival: This is a faceless free-for-all forum. I don't get to tell you what to type? Great! But you also don't get to tell me not to quote you. If you don't want anyone quoting you, then keep away. The quote button is there to be used by all forumites.
I still maintain my stand- until you walk a mile in the poster's shoes, don't judge! We all decry cyber bullying and condemn its awful effects, especially since that online suicide thing a few years ago, yet we go ahead to do the exact same thing. What do you think you are doing by mocking a suicidal person?
People get suicidal for many reasons, some of which are ludicrous, but the fact remains that they are suicidal, period! If you can't find anything encouraging or nice to say, move along. That is the lady-like thing to do.
A pleasant Sunday to you. Please. Shut up and learn to talk like someone who is civilized abeg she already told u the truth if u are not fyne or down with wat she has said go hug a transformer u can find one close or in d middle of ur street happy sunday. |

ibl0010: I have come across few articles stating that nigerians living abroad should not forget his or her father land and therefore established a business in nigeria to help with the high unemployment in the country. Some will and others will not agree with me but I for one ( as someone who is fortunate to be nigerian and also settled abroad) think that, nigerians abroad not wanting to invest in his or her father land is not the issue, but the main issues that may discourage nigerians abroad from establishing a business in nigeria is down to the amount of untrustworthy people, corruption and bad infrastructure.
With regards to bad infrastructure. I think nigerians economy will grow largely with just simple constant electricity, with good and regular electricity businesses which rely on electricity can trade longer and staff will work longer hours earning more money, people will come out more at night to spend money in entertainment venues because regular electricity would mean people will feel safer at night due to street light.
In terms of dealing with untrustworthy people. it is unfortunate that the bad people in nigerian are giving the good people of nigeria a bad name and reputation. It is so hard now adays to trust people in nigerian because people just seems to be money hungry. A nigerian abroad wanting to establish a business in nigerian to create employment opportunities and investment for his or herself can't be in two places at once but because people are so money hungry it is hard for a nigerian abroad to start a business in nigeria and put family or outsider in charge to run the business on behalf of a nigerian abroad. There is nothing wrong with buying a fleet of car to use as taxi and pay someone salary to drive the taxi. Here due lack of transparency of some people a driver can make 10,000 naira a day for example and only say he made 5,000 naira, this is why investor choose hire purchase to protect their investment.
I for one as a nigerian fortunate to also have abroad nationality would like to invest in nigeria by establishing some sort of business that creates jobs to help the nigerian economy grow but as one can't live and also be in nigeria at the same time to run a business on the ground, are there businesses or investment a nigeria abroad can invest in without ending up with egg on his face. By investment, I mean, properties, animal farming and so on.
P.S. As the Sunny Ade song (the way forward goes), nigerian can only move forward in the right direction if nigeria itself as a country gives itself a good reputation on the world stage, which in turns will benefit the people of nigeria. Realy am interested in going into business but my problem is the capital how can you be of assistant to me promise to repay bck every kobo gotten from You with interest not askin you to trust me but u can give me a try u can reach me via email chiboy1928@yahoo.com for more info Thanks. |

Romance › Re: Is It Right To "Monitor" Your Partner? by jayedu108: 10:23pm On May 01, 2015 |
Lizabeth25: You are wrong..! Smart girls will never keep text messages that will implicate them on their phones. They delete them the moment they read them!
A guy who feels insecure goes around monitoring his babe and that makes him a dog.!
The reason is this, guys prefer a lady who already has plenty/many suitors. Then you join the queue in wooing her. The moment you win her, do you think others will back out? They will want to see d methods you used in winning her and they re-package and re-brand themselves and perform better than you. She gives in to the guy and double/triple date una.!
She wouldn't want to lose both of you. She shuttle from his place to yours. The moment she leaves his place, she changes his name to a female name on her phone and even call him in your present if she's smart just to check on him.
So, guys should stop forming as if they know ladies like the back of their hand!
Mtcheeeeeeeew!!! I neva knew dis is wat u do cheatin on ur man, step up ur game dis is nt dat close. |
