OluDare01: MY TRAVEL TRANSCRIPT
Few days to my travelling i had mixed feelings; dunno why but I wasnt happy and at the same time i was having a sweet sensation right inside of me. Dont let me bore you with irrelevant stories. Got to Muritala Muhammed 9pm on Aug 5 and i tell you i was shocked o. naso police dey as me mumu question o. Are you travelling on accompanied i was lie WTF!!! Before i could understand he actually meant 'unaccomplained'. No be small thing o English iyaf suffer I just dey look like JJC ( first time things). No seats to sit down, the hall was crowded. After standing for like 2 hours, I finally got a table to sit. people dey sleep but sleep no catch me o. Make i sleep mae person put something inside my bag tufiakwa Without much ado, check in started 2:00am and it was cool as ah no carry any contraband and i no pay anybody shishi. I made friends with old men; regular travellers i should say and we were talking about Nigeria generally. They complained that the economy hit them so hard that was why they booked royal air maroc. We boarded one small lane like that about 5:45am and by 6::30am, we bid goodbye to Naija. I slept throughout the 4 hours journey cos i was so weak. No inflight entertainment, the food was just snacks. We touched down in Casablanca by 10:30am and we were taken to the Royal Maroc Lounge. Naso my people dey touch base with me o cutemorgan don4ye bukunmy emadapoet etc. I don mae friends for maroc, no time. Naso we dey gist before they come give us one yeye food. crazy food i should say. I only had the bread and yoghurt. After 15 hours, we got up for another check in; a tighter one i should say before we boarded a bus that took us to one mighty Boeing 777 if im correct. Naso some people dey swear for our politicians o cos Casablanca airport beat all Naija airport and thats not even Maroc's main airport o. Inside the plane, one arab woman wey no sabi speak english sat on my seat, i had to make do with another seat flanked by one fine ghanian girl. The plane took off about 4:30 local time and off we go to Amelika. I hardly finished the movie seff,I'm not the film type. I slept lie a baby inside the plane. We were given chicken ,potatoes, yoghurt, chocolate and bread but i didnt take the chocolate. As we were approaching the US territory, naso one turbulence start o, we had to change course. By 7:30am we landed in JFK and off we went to join the queue. This is my POE transcript Officer- So youre a student Me- yeah After taking my picture and fingerprint, he welcomed me to USA and off i went to claim my bag. Body just dey sweet me o, i dey tell u. Naso i find myself for Brooklyn chop better Amala and ewedu with turkey Day 2 We boarded train to greyhound station mehn it was cool o. I just dey struggle to hear those black accents. My trip was long mehn from New york to New Jersey Delaware Maryland Virginia before we switched buses. Ah just dey sight see o America is beautiful mehn. No over speeding, good roads, everything just dey. I dey follow grandma wey dey beside me talk . NIce people everywhere. On getting to Richmond,VA i thought i missed my bus. I no hear anything dem dey talk atall. I come dey ask questions 8:00pm we boarded a bus going to knoxville, TN before i joined another bus going to Cookeville. Na die no be small. I no get $400 for local flight wey i never chop so i was well prepared for the stress. Got to Cookeville by 8am on sunday. Zt called a cab to pick me up and that was it. Welcome to Obamaland. Nice travel transcript. Good to know u touchef down safely and you are currently enjoying your self. All the best bro.. |

Simon21: Good evening guys, here's my transcript: Got to the embassy at about 5:45am, after all the security and documents check that started by 6am.. We were on the queue (I was 3rd on the queue) waiting for the vos to arrive and 2 vos came at about 6:55am one was the lady that denied me last week and the cgi guy directed the 2 guys before me to her, the other vo who was at window 5 beckoned on me to come & here it goes: Vo: good morning and how are you Me: fine and you Vo: pass me your passport and I20 Me: passed them to him Vo: why did you choose the Uhv? Me: the Uhv was recommended to me by a lecturer in the University I graduated from who is also an international study consultant and I did my research on the school and discovered the school has great research facilities as a public research University which aligns with my interest because I intend to do a research on how information technology innovations can be used to develop local businesses and retailers and this would help me in contributing my quota to improving on the economy of Nigeria which is presently on a downturn (vo cuts in) Vo : what do you intend to do with this when you return to Nigeria? Me: I intend to work as an information systems consultant and set up an IT firm to help local businesses or companies and retailers succeed here in Nigeria (vo cuts in again) Vo: how many schools did you apply to? Me: 3 schools Vo : name the schools Me: mtsu, cmu and Uhv Vo: how old are you? (Hian! See question) Me: 26 Vo: when did you graduate? Me: November 2014 Vo: what school did you graduate from? Me: University of Benin Vo: what course did you study Me: electrical/electronics engineering
Then he started typing for about 20 secs and stopped and looked at me and said Vo: where does Patrick live? Me: (thinking mogbe! This guy na white wizard? How u take know my brother? Then I remembered he's looking at my ds160 on the computer ) he lives in Manvel, Texas Vo: who is he to you? Me: he's my elder brother Vo: are you going to be staying with him when you get to the US? Me: chuckled and said no I'll be staying at jaguar hall which is the accommodation provided by the school Vo: what does Patrick do for a living? Me: he's an oil and gas project engineer working with a & b incorporation Vo: how did Patrick get into the US? Me: he got into the US from the UK through the job he was offered in the US Vo: is he elder or junior to you? Me: (shebi I don first tell you before ni) elder
Then he starts typing again and I stood there firing prayers in my mind, then he said Vo: did you write any test? Me: yes I wrote the gmat Vo: how did you perform? Me: fair.. 16 verbal 36 quantitative (he cuts in) Vo: do you have your report here Me: yes and passed it him
Then he looks at it and returns it to me and continued his typing....then I noticed he has separated my I20 from my passport then I started expecting good news, after typing for long he returns my i20 and gave me a white paper and said Vo: pick up your visa in 3 business days from today and have a nice stay in the US Me: thank you And I ran out and started shaking all the security men out of excitement, one hustler ran to me and said I should give him something for d celebration, as I gave him 100naira Na so the rest rush me o.I run for my life o
I thank God and the gurus here, Mr oludare may God Enlarge your coast, Mr Walspring God make you bigger... To all preparing for interview may God change your hustle from "how to answer visa interview questions" to "how to get flight bookings and dollars".. AMEN!!!!.. I know say wetin I write too much abeg make una bear with me, it is my story of grace.. Congrats bro.....how were you able to refire within one week after the denail? |

cabayes: Visa approved on Tuesday Morning. 7 am. I cannot say whether I gained from this thread or not but I enjoyed reading transcripts and I love to share my experience and post thoughts.i am neither happy nor excited.
5 years ago, I was at the embassy for education advisory services for counseling and orientation. I ruled the US out my my options due to the sad and hard visa experiences and how Nigerians are treated all in the name of getting a visa. May God continue to punish our thieving leaders with different diseases for making our country unbearable for the masses. (Forgive me for using such statements)
I felt degraded and kind of lost morale and interest in getting the visa after spending hours on the queue with security checks and bio-metrics. I got into the so called interview hall and found people giving all sort of excuses and reasons to be in the USA. For my mind I was swearing for our past leaders who failed to improve our educational system /economy .
I was surprised to listen to the interview of a man who applied for immigrant but was refused due to the fact he couldn't tell the vo his date of birth. I lost morale on the spot when I listen to other interviews. At that time, I was certain I too had forgotten my name. Tension was every where.
From the entrance at windows 5,The vo drilled a young man for 6 mins or so. I stared at him and swallowed the saliva in my mouth when we had eye contact.i quickly removed my face and told god not to move me to this window 5. I was hoping to be interviewed by one of the female vo but little did I know that I was wrong. Low and behold I ended up at window 5. A middle aged man was denied in front of me as the vo found out that he lied about his purpose of traveling. At that moment my head went blank. All the practicing and ginger left me as I met the same vo.
Me- good morning sir Vo- no answer( for my mind I say my own done be today) what is your purpose of traveling to the United States ? Me - I am going to svsu for my msc in comms in Michigan (stammering, I'm a stammer) Vo-no why did you chose svsu ?? Me- svsu has good academic facilities and good lecturers (still stammering while the vo was typing and wasn't looking or listening to me). He cuts me. At that point I lost morale because I didn't really express my self I lost eye contact. Vo.- how many schools did you apply to Me- I told him 3 (at this point I my head was down while he was staring at me and asking questions) the vo mentioned the other school on my behalf and I said yes.
Vo- when did you graduate? Me- I told him Vo- what have you been doing since then? Me - I told him my job functions still stammering and heads down. Truth was that I was expecting the blue paper at this point. Vo- says something I didn't hear and hands me a paper I didn't bother to look at. At this point I forgot my passport was not returned back to me. It was outside the consulate I met some other guys who asked me how did my interview go. It was then I was reminded that I was approved as I realized that my passport wasn't returned and I clearly saw the color of the paper in broad daylight as the vo didn't circle anything.
no documents were asked for as the vo continued to ask me questions that needed a yes and no answers.i was lucky i guess
I want to thank the likes of dickoflife and olan who helped me with mock interviews. Only god knows what criteria the vo used to approve me because I wasn't impressive at all. I am neither happy or excited but was wondering why all these stress for a visa.? I will always pray for my country to get better one day as my interview experience has left me with mixed feelings This is absolutely God at work.. Despite your inefficiencies, God proved himself mighty and granted you unmerited favor. Congrats buddy.. |

Ekofisk: Late Post: 11:00 AM Slot. Lagos Consulate
Status: Approved
Duration: 3 – 4 Minutes
I started reading from Part 4 and I believe there’s more than enough information for anyone as regards US-Visa Interview. Albeit, it’s important I share this overdue experience.
I tried as much as I could to be loud and exude boldness though my heart was pounding very fast (Nervousness is permissible). I was expecting a more private interview zone based on the YouTube videos I watched. Anyway, I practically lost cognizance of the fact that people were listening during the course of the interview.
VO: Good Morning Ekofisk: Hello, Good Morning VO: Why are you going to the US? Ekofisk: I’m heading to the US for my masters degree in Petroleum Engineering at TTU. VO: What do you do? Ekofisk: I provide research support for Dr. X (VO Cuts-in) VO: What’s the research about and what’s your role? Ekofisk: Fluid Characterization and EOS modelling of PVT Experiments. My role is to provide research support by reviewing published literatures, software simulation of PVT experiments, Sourcing for PVT data of characterized fluid samples from Niger Delta fields amongst other sundry activities. VO: What’s the field of this research? Ekofisk: Petroleum Engineering VO: Do you have a BSc. Ekofisk: Yes I have a BSc. in Petroleum Engineering VO: What will you do with your degree? Ekofisk: I’ll come back to Nigeria to work as a Petrophysicist or Reservoir Engineer VO: (Stops typing and stares right at me) VO: Is that a smart decision given all the issues…. (I had to cut-in because I knew what she was driving at. It’s either the recent attack on oil installations or the slump in crude oil price. I tackled the latter) Ekofisk: Absolutely, it’s a smart decision. I expect that in 2 years the price of crude will have improved and stabilized. The industry has experienced price slumps through history so I’m not going to make a career decision based on the existing market situation. Also, I can always focus on research and academia. (I was ready to keep on talking but she started typing again so I had to stop.) VO: Who is sponsoring you? Ekofisk: My Guardian….I noticed that she hasn’t looked at the I-20 so I added the fact that I got a scholarship that qualified me for instate tuition. (I didn’t plan to say this). VO: Types for two minutes or thereabout...”Your Visa has been approved. Pick it up in three days”. Ekofisk: Alright, thank you! Congrats man, u really were prepared for the worst but expected and got the best. Cheers |

Tods: Transcript loaded!!! After the VO at window 6 denied the guy before me ( guy with american accent and even had his undergraduate degree there in the us), was scared and hoping for the worse. VO: good morning ( was surprised he even greeted me and smiled) Me: good morning, how was your night? ( smiling back) VO: very well thank you ( sounding surprised) Pass me your documents How did you get to know this school? Me: I used the internet to Google for a credible school that has a good math program VO: what did u study for your undergraduate degree Me mathematics Vo: what university? Me: Bowen university VO: how many schools did u apply to? Me: 5 schools VO: mention them Me: west Virginia university morgantown, Louisiana state university, baton rouge He dint let me complete it and just said Why did you choose this school amongst others ( pointing to my i20 with a straight face) Me : I chose the school cos I was offered a graduate assistantship and..... He caught me short and said pick up your visa at the circled location ( slamming my passport in the collection bowl) Me: thank you ooo in a surprised and elated voice ( people on the queue giggled ) I fled from his window before he change his mind and say take ur passport back. Lols
The key is always be prepared and pray. School is Lamar. This is God's handiwork.. ..... Despite his mean look U were still favoured |

Tods: Visa approved 6:30 am yesterday at the Lagos consulate by that tough guy in window 6. Those present there would have noticed I was the first person he approved that morning ( lady on lemon coloured blazers and black skirt) after denying the first 3 people he attended to. He was just dashing out denials like its his wedding invitation, while the female VO beside him was very lenient. I give God all the glory. Transcript loading. OTUNBACODED: It is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth but of God that sheweth mercy (Romans 9:16). Today for 11am appointment in Lagos my visa was approved.
vo: good morning me: good morning ma and how do u do? vo: let me have your passport me: here they are ma, I handed her my passport , I-20 and sevis receipt vo: tell me about your study plan me: I am going to south dakota school of Mines and technology for Msc Mining Engineering & Management and I will be taking courses such as *************, this courses will help me with updating myself in the area of mining and also open me to new mining techniques. d Nigerian government is now working on making mining a major source of revenue generation as the crash in oil price as affected the economy negatively hence more qualified hands will be needed in the mining sector and this degree will give me an edge. (VO was just nodding) vo: who will be funding your study me: my elder brother, he works as *** with *** & I also have some personal savings to support myself since I currently work. (vo continued typing for like 2 minutes) vo: your visa has been approved.
It was just God's grace, favour & mercy as i did not write any test though it was not required from my school as my undegraduate was in same field.

DareFadi: Well ....i would say preferably get a sponsor and also put that u will be part self sponsored. It rarely that u are asked for bank statement and all u mainly asked is who sponsoring u and what does the person do. Although u are also required to put their details on d ds160 form.
It just carries more weight if u have a sponsor plus urself. That is not to say u cannot get f1 visa been self sponsored . U can.... however if it was me i would prefer to list a sponsor in addition.
I cant really explain why sha
At the end of the day either way self or with sponsor it doesn't matter , it boils down to favor sha from God...... Thanks for your candid opinion, its well appreciated. I think it's best to be on the safe side. Can I pm u? |
