The car that is suitable for the country is Volvo 760 Gle, 1987 model. Fuel, engine oil is available for the particular vehicle. Euro 5 fuel cannot work on a 2012 Toyota and so I wonder why I will buy a car and use my money to destroy it Bro really dont understand this fuel part not working on 2012 toyota, are you saying all toyotas in Nigeria like the 2012, our fuel is not compatible with them and the fuel is killing them? |

Babatundehy: I most likely got a very well maintained unit, the sonata has a different suspension design, that might be why the problem you speak of is uncommon with it, enthusiasts have argued a good maintenance culture will prevent failure, that is, replacing at the first sign of failure. Honda's are great, but I don't love CVTs, what 2015/2016 model do you intend to get? The CVT matter tire me, been driving for years now but had no idea automatic still have different types which includes this CVT, is anything wrong with it? Is it all honda models that are CVT? Wanted to go for the 2015 or 2016 Honda accord. This Hyundai elantra or sonata i was eyeing them too, but the issue of lack of availability of parts and mechanics for that brand incase of anything is the issue. |

Car Talk › Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by Jbond(m): 11:02am On Sep 27, 2025 |
RyanAutomotive: Short answer: that “leg-pull” you keep seeing is most often what mechanics call torque-steer / a pulling/jerk under acceleration, not a mysterious brand curse. It’s common on FWD cars and can show up on Hondas, Toyotas and Lexus alike.
What usually causes it (things to suspect and check) • Uneven drive forces (driveshaft/CV setup), worn suspension bushings, ball-joints or tie-rods. • Worn engine/transmission mounts, bad CV joints, uneven/defective tyres or alignment, dragging brake or wheel-bearing issues. • In Nigeria people also report aftermarket/substandard suspension/steering parts (ball-joints/control arms) making the problem show up more.
Which car to pick (practical view) • Camry 2013 — solid, easier/cheaper to maintain in Nigeria, fewer surprises if well inspected. • Honda 2015/2016 (direct Belgium) — generally reliable, but some owners report torque-steer/jerk complaints on certain models — so insist on a clean PPI and road-test. • Lexus ES350 — more refinement (and price); same mechanical family as Toyota so still can show the same symptoms if worn. If you want the safest bet for low headache Camry or a properly-inspected Lexus if budget allows — but the deciding factor is the condition and service history, not the badge.
Pre-purchase checklist (must-do before import) 1. Get the VIN and full service/accident history; verify odometer. 2. Ask for a video of a road-test showing acceleration, straight line at 20–80 km/h and steering feel. 3. Insist on a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) that checks: suspension (ball joints, control arms, bushings), engine/trans mounts, CVs, brake drag, wheel bearings, tyres, alignment and ECU fault codes. 4. Check for heavy aftermarket parts (replace with OEM where possible) and underbody rust/damage. 5. If you see pulling on the road-test, ask the inspector to isolate: swap tyres left↔right, check play in steering/suspension, and test with load to reproduce the pull.
Final practical tip: don’t reject a good model just because of hearsay — buy based on inspection results. If you want, send the VIN(s) and any road-test clips you have; we can run a checklist and advise whether to import or pass.

Babatundehy: Yeah, Toyota cars are failing, i just don't think many people talk about it, a friend's 07 Rav 4 transmission had to be worked on, i learned this at church today, the vehicle was purchased foreign used early 2023. I use 09 Sonata and the only thing I've fixed in three years is a fuse, this is not to say Hyundai is better than Toyota, but to say no brand is immune to wear or abuse, the past user of my vehicle (oyinbo) could have driven it less and maintained it better. The point still remains, the older the car, the higher the chances of major components failing within a short time after purchase here as Tokunbo, from bad maintenance, to all sorts of abuse and or even unhealthy mods (relatively new trend), and regular wear, it is why i will pick a 2023 innoson vehicle that costs 18m over a 2018 Toyota/Honda or Benz at the same price. I don't care so much about the brand, if I'm buying new and there's no major issues for recall or known issues from user reviews, if the car is new, then how long It serves me is mostly/totally up to my maintenance game. A 2024 innoson/Nord/ or any of these brands that can be brought brand new here in Naija ( relatively cheaper than the likes of Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Benz of the same year) are good buys compared to older products of these big names. If you get brand new money of innoson/Nord go buy am jeje get peace of mind for a few years. The older the vehicle, the more the troubles to expect, quite simple, no brand, build or model of any vehicle is an exemption to this. My next car is going to be a brand new car, I don't care what the brand is, just that it'll be brand new, near zero mileage with that new smell of factory leather and dashboard material, i need to talk about "breaking" in lol. Boss you lucky o, changed just a fuse in 3 years. Please i want I want to upgrade from a corolla 2010 to a Honda 2015 or 2016, but the leg pull matter convo all over discouraged me, so thought of going for a camry 2013 to avoid leg pull. sooperrescue: Leg pull is not restricted to these models of cars. I have been called one night to rescue a 2018 Range rover autobiography long wheelbase who fell into a pothole in Lekki and it's front leg pulled out. The owners are all the same. They want to manage first for the time being and the end result of being manager is the disgrace that happens to them mostly at night where they are at their wits end. It is not rocket science to detect the noise under the wheels. Oh Oh, so i guess leg pull is not a one car brand thing. Ok please like o asked earlier, from your own personal view, which brand, type and year of car should i go for please? |

AndroBlaze: I believe I was the first person to take my time and give you a proper educative response to a question you asked and this was what I got back in return
While you might have not meant to be rude, your response indicated to me that you either don't appreciate or are just not willing to gain from the reservoir of experience/knowledge people have on here- which is not the end of the world.
I have not really followed your posts since then but I guess people have also noticed a bit of what I did and that's why they are just telling you what to do instead of explaining why they are advising you to do so.
Simply put, we've had some people who sold cells and made batteries in Abuja but they've been found wanting (at least the ones I remember). If people are recommending mrreed that's in Kaduna (or is it kano) and Valto that is in Bayelsa, its because we KNOW their goods work and we KNOW you will get support even if you aren't in the same state as most of us don't even reside in Kaduna or Bayelsa.
People have lost good money on here, because they believed in shops or renegade sellers who came here and promised heaven and earth....that did not stop those affected from being their brother's keeper and revealing their experiences while ensuring they enrich everyone here with their knowledge gained the hard way, with blood and tears.
If you need to physically inspect your purchase from a local shop it is fine, but that will not stop you from being cheated or someone telling you that they will not honour warranty, especially when they can prove u might have made an honest misstep in the setup (which happens as everyone is learning)....and even established businesses like Fouani do this ( yes a whole LG).
Learn to believe in people and more importantly learn to believe in yourself that you are a good judge of character.... even if you get burnt, we only live once and living in fear and unfounded distrust isn't the way to spend one's life.
I wish you the best whatever your decisions are.
Thanks |

Ayomipoe: Sorry about your percived experience. This is primarily a diy forum and it is instinctual for members to point you towards their best deals.
However, because of your restriction of buying from someone local, your best bet is to look for someone on Google. You can then share the options you get / prices. Most likely you will be buying a branded system. 1.8m is a lot of money. Cworth systems are not bad. Avoid Felicity if you can. 600w is not bad on a 12v system. Buy the largest battery you can get. The Haisic 12v plus inverter is about 650k 4kwh. It's backup time for your load will be about 5 hours. Their 24v all in one is about 1.25-1.3m, you should get your 10 hours from this and it allows you to expand your load. Good luck. Bro if the title of the thread had diy tagged to it, i wont have bothered opening it or joining the thread because things like this for me, i dont diy, i leave it for the professionals. I saw solar energy on the thread title, though i dont know what the FTA means, thats why i decided to seek advice simply because i wanted to upgrade from tubular i have been using for a while now to lithium and just needed to know what and what i will be needing, i have never bought anything here on nairaland or any other online platform and never intended to either. Anyway i will exit the thread and let them be before curse and insult go enter the matter. Thanks for your input bro. |

RickyM: This is a DIY forum where people share knowledge and stuff, they telling you about a better deal doesn’t mean they are marketing but rather a better value for your money and no one is forcing it on you because at the end of the day it’s your choice to make either to patronize SMe or buy brands. When an issue is stressed upon it obviously becomes like a must. If it is my choice to make like you mentioned, i am sure the buy from mr this nd that on almost every of my post wont have been this much to the extent when i ask a question, the reply will be mr this and that can make this for you, buy from mr this and that haba. Whenever i ask a question, some people here were helpful, while most were more bent on buy from mr this and that and were not even bothered about what i asked even when i took my time to explain why i dont buy things online, then the matter turn to hostility from their subsequent replies, anyway na my fault. |

Compliant: If you like buy it next door, when issue arise it is then you will understand that closeness sometimes does not guarantee quick response when it comes to solar system.
Majority of all these stores just sell inverter batteries, when problem arising you will begin to hear stories why you are at fault and why it will take days to fix Bro, mind you, this is not my first solar rodeo, i have been on tubular and 1.5kva inverter for some years now, and the guys that intstalled it for me anytime i see anything i dont understand, within hours they are at my place and the issue is resolved. I only came here to seek advice simply because i am going the lithium way, so easy with the next door or next state talk, anyway let me even leave the platform for you all because from all replies it has been reeking of hostility the moment i mentioned i am not buying from here, have a lovely day. |
