Going to Church in Iran is dangerous. Neda parks several streets over from where Foozi and Cyrus lead an underground house church in Tehran, Iran. Not to raise suspicion, she has timed her arrival so it won’t coincide with any others. She walks up the stairs of the apartment building and softly taps on the door. Once inside, she removes her shoes, and Foozi whisks them away, hiding them in a back room. Worship begins with the members lip-syncing along with the praise songs playing on the Church 7 satellite television programming, tuned in barely above a whisper. They have taken every precaution for safety, but ten minutes into their time together, a sharp knock raps on the door. The members quickly turn off the TV and hide. Have they been found out? Cyrus answers the door. It is their next-door neighbor. They know he works for the government and will be rewarded if he can uncover a Christian underground church. The man says he had heard a noise and wanted to be sure everything was okay. “Do you have a party tonight?” he asked, looking around the room. “No, no,” Cyrus answers. “It was just a friend who came to wish us well.” Gathering for church indeed is dangerous but vital. Underground church leaders have to balance the needs of the people they are discipling and of neighbors who are ready to receive the Gospel message with the nosiness and evil intentions of those who wish to have a reason to turn them in. These leaders need our training and we need your support to do so. We Are a Church-Planting Ministry Visible churches in Iran are now all closed, yet the Church is growing. With the launch of Church 7 three years ago, we have been able to establish a wave of new, healthy and multiplying underground churches. You see, we are not a television ministry; we are a church-planting ministry that uses television, the internet, and other technology as church-planting tools. Through these tools, we share the Gospel and develop believers committed to the Lord. We follow up with them and train many to lead God’s church in Iran. We are pioneers in this field and have proven to the skeptics that it is possible, with God’s leading, to use media and TV to plant underground churches. (over, please) Yes, we do much of this training through TV. But that is not enough. Se we spend time with select leaders in online small groups. Eventually, we meet tested and trusted leaders face-to-face in weeklong intensive training conferences somewhere safe outside Iran. Foozi and Cyrus are two church planters that we discipled and then brought to a third country outside Iran for a week of face-to-face training. Their house church is a beautiful picture of how God is working to plant churches and transform Iran. Foozi and Cyrus live in an apartment with many neighbors. Many people knock on their door. They never know if it will be for ill or for good. But they serve the Lord faithfully. Here is more of their story: Join Us to Plant More Churches The Lord is with us. We can do what we do because He paves the way, preparing hearts and minds with dreams and visions, and supernaturally providing circumstances that allow the truth to be told. We are praying to have over 3,000 underground churches within the next three years so that more of our 3–6 million daily Network 7 viewers have this same opportunity to worship and grow in community with others. To accelerate our training of more leaders, we plan to start new satellite TV programs to meet even more of these training needs. We also want to increase our face-to-face training outside Iran. All of these efforts require funding. I am sure you agree with me: conversion is not enough, we need to raise disciples and leaders to plant healthy and multiplying churches. We are willing to make the financial commitment needed. Are you? Gracious friends have increased our matching grant goal this summer, meaning that your gift up to $65,000+ will be doubled if you give by August 31. August will be the final month for this matching grant, so please pray and choose to be a part of raising up the church in Iran now. source www.ozyblog.com

The trial of two Sudanese church leaders has started in Khartoum. They are among four Christians accused of trying to tarnish the image of Sudan’s government. According to the Sudan Tribune, Rev. Hassan Taour and Rev. Kuwa Shamal were charged on Sunday (21 August) with "fabricating videos of incidents of claimed genocide, killing of civilians and burning of villages, besides claims of persecution of Christians in Sudan". The prosecutor told the Khartoum North Court the defendants also conducted "intelligence activities and provided material support for rebels in South Kordofan". More info: www.ozyblog.com |
When a veteran started offering traditional remarks at a military flag-folding ceremony, several uniformed airmen assaulted him, dragging him out of the room because his remarks mentioned God. Now First Liberty Institute lawyers representing retired Senior Master Sergeant Oscar Rodriguez are demanding that the U.S. Air Force apologize and punish those responsible or face a federal civil-rights lawsuit. Rivers State institute of sport Isaka former Sea School was established by the first military Governor of old Rivers State (Rivers and Bayelsa states), Commander King Alfred Diete Spiff. The Sea School was established with a prior motive of producing and promoting marine activities, training Sailors, Seaman and other activities which can boost the riverine area, since 75% of the state comprises of coastal areas. At inception, the school was able to meet up with the purpose of its creation by producing sport men and women of various categories of sporting events, like canoe racing, swimming and wrestling which the state is very well endowed with talented young people who perform excellently well in them, because the institute acted as an avenue for catching young athlete, building them in order to meet with the challenges of sports world. Every facilities needed for effective take-off were in place: functional hostels, dinning halls, football pitch, basket ball court, indoor halls for indoor games, and rivers surrounding the community for swimmers, but all these are now shadow of its former self as the building are now dilapidated, bushes all over the environment due government abandoning the wonderful master piece of idea put in place by it predecessors. If not for abandonment of this unique sporting institute, Rivers state would have been one of the most vibrate state in producing sportmen and women when it matter most supposing the ideals and the objectives of this institute were still pursued diligently and achieved.
