Travel10 Reasons Why Lagos Is Better Than Abuja by jcflex(op): 11:56am On Feb 09, 2015
Over the years, many Nigerians have debated whether Lagos is better than Abuja with remarks been tossed like grenades across both sides. Sometimes, we are caught in a web of fierce argument about the two cities. However, Abuja and Lagos are famous and great cities in the country.

Abuja, the capital of Nigeria has become an upmarket city, popularly known as the ‘London of Africa'; but Lagos is the one of the largest city in Africa that best combines the diversities, character, foibles and strengths of Nigeria. We have highlighted 10 reasons why Lagos is better than Abuja:

1. The cost of living
Have you ever wondered why almost everyone wants to be in Lagos instead of Abuja even though it is better developed and prettier? The reason is simple! Lagos is a city that is very affordable to live no matter your social status. It has become the home of everyone which means that you can comfortably live in Lagos with little compared to the luxury lifestyle in Abuja.

2. A city of dream where paupers become millionaires
Let us face it, when it comes to becoming a self-made millionaire in Nigeria, there is no better place to be than Lagos. This is where anyone can start from the scratch and become a millionaire overnight. Everyone in Lagos is a hustler; they are always busy working or doing something that will bring them money. Lagosians are taught to be ‘street-wise’ unlike Abuja, where almost everyone behaves like ‘Ajebutter’ (rich) kids. There are many celebrities and millionaires who came from slums in Lagos today.

3. Believe it or not, you can find an affordable apartment in Lagos
Yes, we know that the holy grail of Lagos expensive urban real estate is out there but this does not mean that everyone is living in luxury apartments that only wealthy people can afford. There are thousands of very affordable apartments if you are patient enough to find them. The rent in Lagos is not always as expensive as what Abuja would offer you.

4. Contagious lifestyle
If you’ve ever lived in Lagos and Abuja, you would be quick to point out the boring social life that hovers around Abuja. The social life setting that you embrace in Lagos may never leave you. There are lots of necessary social behaviours in Lagos, like the small talks, fashion, communication and socialization that run deep in every fibre of Lagos. Lagos is where life begins socially and spread to other parts of Nigeria.

5. Tourism merges with adventure in Lagos
Lagos is always bursting with activities with its posh hotels, restaurants and places to explore. This city has become the face of tourism compared to Abuja. You can immerse yourself in deep cultures, surroundings and histories- from spiritual shrines, beaches, parks and many more. The tourism journey in Lagos always gives a worthy run for your money because the fun never ends. Little wonder, thousands of tourists visit Lagos to have a lifetime experience.

6. Cheap transportation
The transportation system in Lagos is far lower than that of Abuja. There are lots of transport alternatives like the BRT buses, Yellow buses, taxis cabs and tricycles for you in Lagos unlike Abuja where you can only get ‘London taxi’ and green-cabs, which are quite expensive and few. The high cost of ‘special drops’ can be discouraging and to compound your challenge in Abuja, trekking may be a Hercules task.

7. Home of entertainment – Nollywood
It is only in Lagos that you see the highest number of celebrities and entertainers living in Nigeria. The city is vibrant with lots of social functions happening almost every day. Indeed, there is no dull moment in Lagos because it is a city where talents are born and grown. Lagos has earned its name not only as the music and movies birthplace, but where entertainment is done better than anywhere in Nigeria.

8. Social vibes – parties and nightlife
Have you ever spent your weekend in Lagos? The vibe is felt in the air and the parties colourful, engaging, wild and sometimes crazy. There is no rule on how parties are going to be held, which means that you’ve got an array of choices for clubs, hookup spots, bars and hotels all waiting for you to join in the fun. People come to Lagos to celebrate their weekends because that is where the social activities make the difference.

9. Employment opportunities
It is easier to get a job in Lagos unlike Abuja, where it is nearly impossible for one to get a job. With many international companies, small businesses and local investments in Lagos, there is always an employment opportunity. The metropolis has become a land of opportunity for thousands of Nigerians who come with nothing and end up very comfortable later.

10. Lagos has a sense of solidarity and love
Love is always in the air in Lagos unlike Abuja where everyone is like an island. Talk about solidarity and support for a clause, it all begins in Lagos. Sympathy is quickly shared and support is gotten fast because everyone minds everyone’s business. A visit to Abuja would convince you that you are definitely on your own with its peculiar way of life even among neighbours. Nigerians living in Abuja live the fake lifestyle due to the high standard of living.

The Verdict: Lagos or Abuja?

PoliticsPolice Affairs Minister Adesiyan Tactically Admits Ekiti Election Was Rigged by jcflex(op): 11:24am On Feb 09, 2015
Minister of Police Affairs Jelili Adesiyan has tacitly admitted that there was an encounter between several top officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a senior military officer who was badgered to intimidate members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to ensure victory for the PDP in the Ekiti State governorship election.

SaharaReporters had exclusively released the audiotape of a heated session where PDP members, including (now) Governor Ayo Fayose, Mr. Adesiyan, former Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro, and Senator Iyiola Omisore ordered Brigadier General A.A. Momoh to order troops under his control to arrest and detain APC members in a plot to guarantee victory for Mr. Fayose.

After our disclosure, both Governor Fayose and Mr. Obanikoro denied the authenticity of the tape, with Mr. Obanikoro threatening to sue SaharaReporters.

But in an interview with Sunday Punch newspaper, Mr. Adesiyan admitted that the encounter took place, even though he tried to lessen the criminal nature of the exchanges by claiming that the meeting was to persuade the officer to release some detained PDP agents. In addition, the minister stated that the atmosphere became charged when Mr. Fayose accused the military officer of taking a bribe from then Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Sunday Punch reported that the Police Affairs Minister “admitted that there was a conversation but it was at a scene in Ado-Ekiti, when Fayose and the General engaged in an altercation which almost resulted in a fight.”

According to the minister, the near physical fight happened after some people at the meeting accused Brigadier General Momoh of being bribed by Governor Kayode Fayemi and the All Progressives Congress. The accusation “led to a heated argument between [the general] and Fayose,” Sunday Punch reported.

The paper reported Mr. Adesiyan as stating, “Nigerians are not dummies. These people are mischievous; somebody recorded the scene but let everybody listen to it. Listen to it yourself and get back to me.

“Fayose accused the General who supervised the Ekiti election of taking bribe from Fayemi and APC, that was two days before the election. They called me because they said the General disarmed policemen and I told him to allow the policemen to do their job.

“I was there, Fayose was there, Otunba Omisore was there, Senator Obanikoro was there. I am not denying that there was a conversation but it was not what they are saying.”

RomanceHow To ‘test-drive’ Your Man Before Marriage by jcflex(op): 4:19am On Feb 09, 2015
This article is focused entirely on women and will show you exactly how to put men through a test drive before marriage.

Obviously, women and men see things through different prisms. Women should realise that what they want and what a man wants are two very different things. Simply put, most men just want sex, regular sex, without necessarily paying cash for it! Responsible men will try to cope with the result of their particular choice: be it marriage or a pregnancy (whichever comes first). An irresponsible man will look for an excuse!

Finally, our previous dalliances, experiences, family and religion colour what we do and how we approach the issue of relationships. Some rely on their family or friends to choose a partner for them, while some listen to the pastor! However, if you have a mind of your own and are responsible for your heart’s desires, please read on.

Let me also make a clarification: This article is for women of marrying age (above 18 years of age) who are looking for or have found the right man. If you have the man of your dreams in your sights, then you should definitely test-drive him through these stages.

The initial stage
Physical attraction is important and is perhaps the firstthing in the start of a relationship. If you are not attracted to him, this may cause problems later.
You need to also evaluate whether he is fun and makes you laugh. Is the man of your dream good company or just an ass?
Is he mental, aggressive, clingy and immature?
Do you have similar interests and common goals?
Can you spend a whole day in his company and not be bored to death?
If you do not like him that much, leave him by the roadside.

The second stage

Evaluate where he is coming from and where he is going.
What are his values?
What are his dreams and aspirations?
Is he describing the kind of life you want for yourself and your future family?
What type of man is he?
Is he a liar, unserious and cannot be trusted with your friends?
A friend of mine was always farting in public. His girlfriend could not tolerate this.
They still got married, regardless, but the farting, snoring and, of course, other disrespectful behaviour eventually destroyed the marriage: after three children!
You now also need to define what you want from the relationship.
Is marriage an investment?
Do you want the so-called mysterious happiness, emotional and financial security and that ephemeral love?
Can he provide these for you and the family?
Is he doing that right now?
Are you employed and he is not?
If he is always asking you for money and is not pulling his weight, he may be a dud after marriage.
Is he rich and famous?
Could you afford to get lost in his shadow or do you want a life of your own?
Can you stand on your own?
Would he be able to live with a successful wife?
Can he live in your shadow?

The third stage

How old is he exactly?
Is he in good health?
Are there any medical issues that you should know about?
Are there any family genetic diseases such as sickle cell disease or other rare killers?
Be sure to ask and talk to his friends and family openly. What about his HIV or Hepatitis status?
Have you asked and checked?
You should, before moving things further.

Now, the good stuff
We conducted a survey here in Nigeria to determine attitudes towards premarital sex.
We asked 100 consecutive unselected adults and the following is the result of the survey.

What is your age? Our respondents were aged 20 to 40 years.

Are you male or female? Fifty-two per cent were males

Are you single, separated, divorced, married or widowed? Most were single: 78 per cent and 20 per cent were married and a tiny number divorced.

If single, are you sexually active? Of the single people, 50 per cent are sexually active.

If divorced, widowed or married, did you engage in premarital sex? 60 per cent engaged in premarital sex.

What is your view on premarital sex: Okay or not okay? Forty-eight per cent said it was not okay, 32 per cent said it was okay and 20 per cent did not commit either way. Interestingly, a few married individuals who had engaged in premarital sex and some sexually active single persons felt it was wrong!

Conclusion
Well, information is power and you have a choice. Oh, Happy Valentine’s Day!

PoliticsJudge Paid N2billion To Disqualify Buhari; Plotting To Blackmail Jega by jcflex(op): 9:11pm On Feb 08, 2015
After succeeding in securing poll postponement, PDP has begun its next move to ensure that the presidential candidate of APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, does not emerge as the winner of the election.

After the postponement announcement, PDP was quick to applaud the decision while APC fumed. Millions of Nigerians sneered, even as people around the world took the news of postponement as a shock too difficult to believe. But close watchers of Nigeria’s political trend believe the success of this first move is critical to the next move to ensure Buhari is not allowed to contest the election.

Sources confirmed that it was not the security issue that was the problem in driving the election postponement agenda, it was Buhari that PDP leaders do not want. They also feared Jega is too independent and difficultto rally into the PDP scheme that will ensure that Jonathan succeeds in the plot and so he must also go.

As PDP celebrates the postponement success, the President’s kitchen cabinet is pulling another string again to ensure that if he cannot have his way to take another shot at the presidency, Buhari’s hope must also be dashed and Nigerians’ desire for change is aborted.

As reported by The Monitors few days ago, dependable sources in the know of the plot have again confirmed that the Presidency has procured a pliable judge with a bill of N2billion to give a disqualification verdict that will bar Buhari from the presidential election holding on March 28.
Events in the court tomorrow, Monday February 9, will shape the events to come as already concluded by the President’s men.

It was learnt that National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki, Chief Edwin Clark, all service chiefs, some Yoruba leaders opposed to Tinubu’s clout, Ayo Fayose, and several others are insisting that Jonathan should deploy “everything at your disposal to stamp your authority to have your way”.

Fayose reportedly insisted that the President should deploy soldiers in Ekiti State, saying that he had information that APC is planning Ekiti as its base to launch resistance against the plan for the president to have his way. Sources hinted that Fayose’s suggestion was supported by Omisore, Obanikoro, Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan and Buruji Kashamu.

Sources hinted though that a caucus within PDP is urging caution against rushing into the court matter on Monday, but they explained that this is a tactical plan to cool the anger among Nigerians who are not happy about the postponement. “This may boomerang,” they reportedly cautioned.
Sources confirmed that the safety net for the judge who will disqualify Buhari is immediate relocation to Dubai where a palatial home is already prepared for him and members of his family.

The plan is to relocate the judge finally from Nigeria, For the judge’s safety, he is to leave the court straight for the airport for a waiting airplane to fly him out to safety.

As part ofthe bargain, his proxy in Nigeria is to execute the multi-billion naira contracts facilitated by the presidency to enable the judge have a blissful sojourn in Dubai.
Starting from Monday, relentless allegations of illegal conducts will be launched against Jega.

They will include embezzlement, INEC contract scams, secret deals with APC and sundry alleged crimes that will paint Jega black that will natural elicitate clamours for his sack to save the credibility of the election.

More media smear campaigns will be launched against Buhari and Jega with AIT and NTA playing leading roles. More Yoruba leaders will be drafted to lend anti-Buhari/Jega voice in the media. OPC members loyal to Faseun group will be heavily mobilized.

Gani Adams is reportedly being cautious about his involvement, but reports suggest he is under tremendous pressure from Governor Segun Mimiko to join in pro-Jonathan scheme.

This came as details of Ekiti poll fixing scandal involving the President, Ayo Fayose, Musiliu Obanikoro, Chris Uba, Iyiola Omisore, General Momah and others emerged at the weekend.

It is believed that in days ahead, this scandal will dominate political space with more pressure on Fayose with Jonathan having difficulty to defend himself over his alleged involvement in Ekiti scandal.

According to sources, international media may take Ekiti matter beyond what the President may have ever contemplated. In fact, sources said Jonathan would meet the most embarrassing moment of his life as events unfold on Ekiti issue.

Facts had earlier revealed in a secretly recorded meeting of Jonathan’s men held at Fayose’s Spotless Hotel which confirmed that President Jonathan was the chief author of the scandal. That much Obanikoro explained in his speech while telling the army officer to get serious in his assignment.

Obanikoro had said in the tape: “I am not here for a tea party. I am here to carry out the assignment by Mr President.”

Details of how Fayose and his gang got INEC computers and soft copy of election materials were revealed by Fayose and Chris Uba during discussion and this was secretly recorded in the meeting.

The Army officer, Captain Sage Koli, who secretly recorded the meeting, has since resigned his commission from the Nigerian Army and fled to exile. In the tape, Fayose was heard fuming, giving details of his plan that involved the President, Chief of Army Staff, Brigadier General Momah ofthe 32 Artillery Brigade based in Akure. Fayose was also heard talking about how he collected soft copies of sensitive materials from INEC, including its computers. Details of the scandal are on the nets being read around the world.

Now that Jonathan will find it difficult to connive with bad elements in INEC to have access to its computers and soft copies of the election materials for illegal printing of ballot papers to fix March 28 and April 11 polls, the option left is to get rid of Buhari and blackmail Jega to force his resignation.
The plan is already concluded, but whistle-blowers are at work to save Nigerians from the callous anti-democratic behaviour of the President who is fast building a reputation for himself as the most dangerous President Nigeria has ever produced.

President Jonathan has drawn a line between his ambition and Nigerians’ desire to elect the President of their choice. How the president hopes to win the battle is left to conjecture. But it is not in doubt that corrupt judges, in spite of their oath of office, have constituted themselves as a big challenge to the growth of democracy in Nigeria. But sources said Jonathan and the judge and their collaborators will be shocked out of their wits by the time the whistle-blowers monitoring their plans release the more details of their perfidy to the world leaders who abhor corruption and election manipulations.

The Monitors is on their trail too. Details of their next move will be released as they come.

Nairaland GeneralWhy I Met Rotimi Amaechi — Gov. Lamido by jcflex(op): 1:04pm On Feb 04, 2015
Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa on Tuesday said he is still a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] and that his recent visit to Governor Rotimi Amaechi was to discuss the need for campaign officials to jettison smear campaigns as they sell themselves to the electorate.

Mr. Lamido made the declaration at a PDP governorship rally in Kaugama, Kaugama Local Government Area, Jigawa.
The governor made the declaration against insinuations that he would ditch the party for the All Progressives Party [APC] following his meeting with Rivers Governor Amaechi.

Mr. Lamido said that he was a PDP member and would intensify campaign for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates of the party.

He said he had cautioned Mr. Amechi on the dangers associated with smear campaigns among politicians, which was inimical to the growth of democratic governance in the country.

“If Amaechi, a Southerner and a Christian is campaigning for Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the APC; I do not see any wrong for me, a northerner and Muslim to campaign for President Jonathan.
“Leadership comes from God. And in his divine wisdom made people of northern and southern extraction to live in one land, our dear country, Nigeria.

“We are one and we should not allow some disgruntled elements using politics, religion and ethnicity to cause disaffection among our people.
“Ignore what they are saying; it is frivolous and cheap lies to deceive voters.
“They said I do not care for the north and called me a pastor, but it does not bother me,” Mr. Lamido said.
He said the founding fathers had fought for the nation’s independence irrespective of creed or religious affiliations. and therefore, Nigerians should unite for peace and progress of the country.
The governor advised the electorate to vote for credible and patriotic leaders, who would render selfless service and move the country forward.

“You should not be deceived by the smear campaigns. Vote for credible people, those who respect human rights, ensure accountability and transparency in governance.

“I advise you to vote wisely,” he said, adding that the PDP led-administration had brought positive development in the country in the last 16 years.

Also speaking, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Aminu Ibrahim, pledged to consolidate on the feat achieved by Mr. Lamido’s administration

Nairaland GeneralFive More PDP Governors Set To Join APC – Baraje by jcflex(op): 8:36pm On Feb 03, 2015
A former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje yesterday disclosed that five more governors of the ruling party and their structures are joining APC ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Baraje, who did not disclosed the identity ofthe governors, stated this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital while speaking with journalists to mark his 64th birthday.

He also alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was behind the proposal for an interim government if General Muhammadu Buhari won the Presidential election.

According to him, the ruling party has been planning many tricks including the postponement ofthe election, stressing that the APC will join Nigerians to reject such undemocratic action by the ruling party.

Baraje said it was honesty ofpurpose that has kept APC growing and accepted by the masses in Nigeria, adding that Nigerians are tired ofdeceit, manufacture ofeconomy figures, and unfulfilled promises by the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

He commended INEC forextending the collection ofPermanent Voter Cards, PVCs, saying the electoral body has been insisting on the election date and stressing that the APC members stand firmly with the electoral body’s position.

Baraje added that his party was strongly against the use ofTemporary Voter Cards, TVCs, stressing that it was a gateway to election manipulation by the ruling party.

Baraje urged Nigerians to vote forAPC Presidential candidate on February 14, adding that his party stands firm on free, fair and credible elections.
