Curiouscity:
The bold statements above is the bane of true development in Nigeria. We are too selfish!! While the 'white-man' is jealous that we Africans live a communal life, we are trying hard to segregate and out-do one another. What stops a whole community from having one large biodigester in a corner of the community, then the output distributed to people's home? What happens to the communities and communal life that we were known for?
Real Estate developers should be forward thinking in fostering communal resources, not only in the case of biogas, but other utilities. Imagine 10 tenants in a compound with ten different small generators ("I pass my neighbor"wink. Why can't the landlord buy one big gen and everyone pays for fuel as part of the rent?
At the rate we are going, real development is still far from us, even when many people among us are very rich.
Bros, tanx for this, we all knw what is obtainable in our society.

our government have fail us, both at the state and federal level.

as you rightly pointed out, it cost the government virtually ntin to construct one for each community, waste collector divert the waste to the plant for use.

with this, the safety of the whole community can be easily guaranty and monitor than each household having it own.

just like the I pass my neighbours gen you pointed out, it causing alot of damage to the atmosphere couple with cars exhaust fume, factory waste and the likes. but yet, the government careless, all this put together have greatly affect our life negatively, life expectancy on the reduction, cumulative of all this cause more havoc to human, animal and plant.
We have all heard about the Global warming.

two years ago we witness such, many life loss, farm eroded, when river niger and benue over floded, and we blaming cameroun for releasing water from one of their Dam.
PoliticsOPC Factions Clash After Anti-jega Protest by jcflex(op): 1:59pm On Mar 17, 2015
The Gani Adams’ faction of the OPC, accompanied by members of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organization, took to the streets in Lagos to demand the removal of the INEC boss ahead of the March 28 general elections.

Mr. Adams said the rally was not partisan, but a call for Mr. Jega to be removed from office.

“What we protested for was the removal of Jega over the poor distribution of PVCs in the south, registration of underage in the north and creation of additional 30,000 polling units in the north,” Mr. Adams told PREMIUM TIMES after the protest.

The OPC members, armed with guns, pocket-knives, machetes, and charms marched from the Lagos-Ibadan expressway through Ikorodu road chanting anti-Jega songs.

Some of protesters harassed motorists and passers-by while others vandalized campaign posters of political parties, particularly those of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Last Friday, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, held similar protests across the South Eastern states of Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi where they accused Mr. Jega of incompetence.

On Sunday, the APC claimed it had uncovered a plot by the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, to use ethnic militias to protest for the removal of Mr. Jega.

But Mr. Adams accused the APC and Lai Mohammed, its National Publicity Secretary, of peddling falsehood, adding that Monday’s protest was peaceful.

“Nobody was attacked. Lai Muhammed should stop peddling lies against our members,” Mr. Adams said.

“Nobody touched their bill boards. It’s the most peaceful rally I have seen. Even they, APC, cannot hold a peaceful as successful rally ‎as that. As a matter of fact, over 30 Nollywood stars took part in the rally including myself.”

“Against Yoruba interest”

Another faction of the OPC responded swiftly and angrily on Monday, accusing Mr. Adams of betraying the group and the Yoruba people.

“We, the members of the National Coordinating Council of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, the highest ruling body of the organization, wish to disassociate ourselves from the shameful, destructive, violent and reactionary activities of the Gani Adam-led team which occurred in Lagos today,” the group said in a statement.

“What was witnessed today in Lagos was the highest level of political violence sponsored and funded by certain elements in the Jonathan government.

“Gani Adams is on his own and does not enjoy the support of a large size of our membership spread across the country. He is working for the sponsors of violence against our people who want the March 28 elections not to hold. Unleashing terror on innocent citizens and killing them is not the way of democracy. It is not our idea of a people-oriented advocacy.”

In 2013, the Mr. Adams-led faction of the OPC secured a lucrative contract from the federal government to secure crude oil pipelines in the South West.

At the time, Mr. Adams justified the contract by claiming that President Jonathan had also awarded similar contracts to Niger Delta militants and that the OPC deserved its share.

“For a group that has been doing a lot of things for the society free of charge, it is not too much to apply for a security job,” Mr. Adams had said.

Monday’s meeting of the OPC faction was attended by Shina Akinpelu, Monsuru Akande, Sunday Adebayo, Kilanko Oladipupo, Kehinde Ogunyale, and Gbenga Eegunlusi.

In its statement, the faction accused Mr. Adams of being on “dubious project” and using the pipeline contract from the government as an excuse to recruit people to work for Mr. Jonathan and PDP in the South West.

“Gani Adams is acting against Yoruba interest. The compromises he has made amounts to selling the Yoruba to the present government for a piece of Pipeline contract to line his pockets,” the group said.

“OPC is not about pipeline contracts or any other contracts for that matter. The Yoruba interest is beyond contracts. We seek justice and fairness from the current government.”

The group called on Yoruba sons and daughters to join them in condemning Mr. Adams and his “anti-democratic tendencies.”

“We must renounce him and remind him he cannot sell the Yoruba race to Jonathan and PDP on the cheap. He also has no authority to speak on behalf of the Yoruba people,” they said.

“We pity those who rely on him to win votes. They will be sorely disappointed. Their investment is a bad one already. We reject today and always any attempt to use our organization and its members for narrow and selfish partisan purposes.

“We must remind them that the Yoruba people cannot be hoodwinked by sweeteners. No one should expect them to kow tow to an individual who is a Lilliputian in the political development and history of the Yoruba nation.”

While renouncing Mr. Adams and his activities, the group also renounced other Yoruba sons and daughters who are playing roles inimical to the welfare and interest of the South West.

“We call on our people to be vigilant politically at this time. Nigeria needs a new leadership, a new direction and a country that works.”

Pavore9:
From my exposure to the digester, every other thing needed apart from the digester is very much available in Nigeria, Apart from the digester itself what is needed is PVC pipes, hose-like tubes , plastic taps for control and a slight modification around the on/off part of the regular gas cooker so that it can allow biogas to flow through as against the regular LPG it was initially made for,

Likewise slight modification is made to the regular diesel/petrol engine generators so that biogas would power it against the conventional petrol and diesel. As l have seen it power small generators like 'l better pass my neighbour'.

A big digester that can cook for about 30 people daily or specifically power a generator should cost about N90k as the amount of gas generated is dependent on size of the digester (the canvass/tarpaulin laid on the ground) and the waste fed into the digester.

Even if one is not around to use the gas generated, one can get a big canvass (like the suspended green canvass in the second picture) which is hung on a tree or a pole and since gas generated is not being used. it would be storing up in the suspended canvass and you can have neighbours tap from it on the grounds that they are feeding the digester(s) with waste in exchange for the gas.
this is quite educative and informative.
in as much as it is economical compared to the conventional hydrocarbon.

pls I will like to ask abt the effect on the environment. if each household decide to have one each, nigeria as example, everybody will wnt to have it own, odour from waste produce everywhere, air pollution, which can be inhaled, as well course diff kind of diseases and most especially for little children.

in this case pls it will be proper for you to enlightened us as well on the likely health effect and remedies.

am not trying to discourage pple on this, but for us to be more enlightened to know the positive and as well the negative effect. and if possible if their is anytin lik air purifier that can be use alongside this to contain any possible health effect on both human and as well animal in the community.

as you knw, if we nigerians goes for smtin, over craziness go follow am, when the negative effect start to occur, we will all shout and put the blame on our government.

I want peace to reign in my dear country Nigeria.

Kudos to the Nigeria Military men( Army, Navy and the Airforce) the sky is surely a stepping stone.
Nairaland GeneralBREAKING: Adamawa Now Free Of Boko Haram Terrorists — DHQ by jcflex(op): 9:00pm On Mar 12, 2015
Nigerian troops on Thursday succeeded in clearing terrorists out of Madagali, the last major town held by Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria’s Adamawa State.

The Director Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, who is on a tour of mission areas in the North-East, announced the development via a press statement.

He said there were no casualties on the side of the Nigerian forces, which included the Army, the Airforce and other security agencies.

He said mop-up operation is ongoing in the town.

The ridding of Adamawa of terrorists is an extension of the string of successes the Nigerian troops have had since they commenced an extensive six-week anti-Boko Haram operation on February 14.

The troops routed terrorists from different towns and communities in Adamawa, Borno, Yobe and Gombe, including Bara, the headquarter of Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe State, Gulak, the Headquarter of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Other locations also cleared in the course of the operation, according to the military, include Shikah, Fikayel, Tetebah, Buza, Kamla and Bumsa.

The troops also recovered Monguno, Marte, Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa and Baga among other big towns and communities.

On Wednesday, the military announced it dislodged the Boko Haram terrorists from Lame/Bura forest between Ningi and Torro Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.
Sani Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, said troops from 33 Brigade of the Nigerian Army cleared the area of terrorists in an operation which started last weekend.

“Quite a number of terrorists were killed, their weapons and equipment destroyed. Similarly, a sizeable number of arms, ammunitions, food stuffs, Hilux vehicles, motorcycles and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were recovered by the troops,” Mr. Sani said.

The troops, he said, also recovered three Hilux vehicles, 12 motorcycles, four AK-47 rifles, a Fabrique Nationale rifle, one Small Machine Gun (SMG), one Police Teargas pistol, 36 Primed IEDs, 56 rifles magazines and over 500 rounds of 7.62 milimetre ammunition.

Other items recovered are six jerrycans of groundnut and palm oil and several Improvised Explosive Device-making materials, amongst others.

The liberated area, he said, was an hideout and operating ground for the terrorists.

Governor of Imo state,Rochas Okorocha says that seven governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are in private meeting with the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC,to garner support for the emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari as the next president of the country.

Okorocha spoke at the APC Rally in Mile 2 area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Monday where thousands of party faithful throng to show support for Buhari and Akinwunmi Ambode as Governor of Lagos state.

He said the seven PDP governors were already in Lagos to hold a private meeting with the APC, but he did not disclose the identity of the governors.

“General Muhammadu Buhari’ s (GMB) victory has been sealed and delivered.Today (Monday) about seven governors who are not APC are coming to hold meeting with us privately.

“There is fear in the country. And the fear was that they know that GMB is a good man and he will win. And they know that once INEC announces GMB as the winner of the presidential election, all the bad people who are embezzling the country’s fund will leave the country at night.

“The fear of Buhari is the beginning ofstoppage of corruption.Do you know that before in this country, Nigerians do urinate on the road? But when Buhari assumed power in 1983,it all stopped. And he also stopped corruption, ” he stated.

Okorocha also said the PDP is already a dead party, saying that the party died immediately APC was formed .“We scheduled the burial of the party for February 14th but they postponed the burial to March 28.We are waiting patiently to bury the party forever. But let me tell you that you can change the date of burial but you cannot change the burial. It must take place. May the soul of PDP rest in peace, ” he said.

“The worst thing that can happen to any nation is to have a bad government. And the worst thing that can happen to any family is to have a bad father . Today, it is obvious that PDP is a bad government. And we thank God that we came together to change the bad government. And the change we came together for has started.

Okorocha wooed the Igbo community to vote massively for the candidacy of Ambode as he is the chosen one. “I am in Lagos for one man, and that is for Ambode. He is a good man. And he will not deceive you. He has a caring heart. He loves everyone. All tribes in Lagos will be safe in his hands. And this is one man that can start and continue what Fashola started.

“Lagos today has improved and he is handing over the mantle of leadership to a man that will continue the geometric progression that has been witnessed in Lagos, ” he said.

Speaking at the rally,Governor Babatunde Fashola said he wanted Lagosians to give him a gift by voting massively for Ambode, saying that his administration had greatly improved the facilities in FESTAC and Amuwo Odofin Local Government.

He urged Lagosians not to sell their Permanent Voters Card, PVCs for any reason as that represented their power to remove a bad government.

In his remark, Ambode assured the people of Amuwo Odofin that he would complete the Light Rail project and the expansion of Mile 2-Badagry Expressway which Fashola had started.

Also at the campaign rally was the National leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who described the government of Jonathan as a corrupt one which must be changed.

PoliticsHow Jonathan, IBB, Are Plotting Interim Govt Instead Of Presidential Polls by jcflex(op): 10:55pm On Mar 03, 2015
More details are emerging on the plot to install an undemocratic Interim National Government (ING) and pre-empt Nigeria’s presidential election scheduled for later this month.

Informed sources disclosed over the weekend that a key element in the plot is the need to forestall a Buhari presidency, for which reason the schemers of the plot have tried to woo the former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, now a chieftain of the opposing All Progressives Congress (APC) with the offer of being the Vice President in the interim structure.

Even though there are now major obstacles to the plan, it is yet unclear if the schemers have completely set the idea aside.

If Tinubu accepts, then he will be expected to rally the South-West, while IBB would rally the North, and Jonathan the South-East and South-South to accept the idea of an interim administration. They will use the excuse that the present times are not good to hold elections in the country, especially because of what David Mark had already called a state of war with Boko Haram.

But it was Tinubu’s rejection of any form of compromise that now appears to be the greatest obstacle to the ING plot. Sources say this explains the recent outburst of Femi Fani-Kayode, the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign spokesperson alleging that the former Lagos State Governor intends to take over presidential power after the generally-awaited victory of the Buhari-Osinbajo campaign at the polls.

Fani-Kayode wildly alleged that Tinubu has entered into an oath to compel Osinbajo to relinquish the office of VP to him after the election, an allegation and scenario that watchers of the Nigerian polity simply dismiss as both untenable and unrealistic.

Investigations spanning over one week by Empowered Newswire on the interim government plot revealed that the two major schemers in the plot are the President himself, Dr. Jonathan, and former Military president Ibrahim Babangida.

IBB, as he is popularly known, has told close aides that he would have to leave Nigeria the day Buhari is declared winner of the presidential election, a prospect he is working hard to avoid by all means. Jonathan is also said to be under intense pressure to negotiate a soft landing for from power since handing over to Buhari would likely expose the intense corruption that he and the Petroleum Minister Diezani Maduekwe, among others, have perpetrated.

In fact the oil minister is said to be one of the hardest protagonists of a soft landing for the Jonathan presidency, mortally afraid of what a Buhari-Osinbajo ascendancy could mean for her.

Knowledgeable Empowered Newswire sources confirm that IBB held two meetings with Tinubu to discuss the issue of the Interim National Government. The first was held in Lagos before the Council of State meeting the week before the February 14 elections were postponed. The second took place in Abuja home of IBB’s son on the night of the said Council of State meeting.

The sources said that for the first meeting, IBB told Tinubu he had a wedding in Lagos and would like to use that opportunity to greet the former Lagos State Governor. Arriving with his son, he told Tinubu about the need to proceed with an interim government and forget about the election. Tinubu, who was shocked at the proposition, reportedly told IBB to forget the idea.

But on the night after the Council of State meeting in Abuja which considered the subject of the readiness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the election, IBB again invited Tinubu to his son’s house in Abuja. At that meeting, former Head of State General Abdusalami was also present, and to the utter shock and annoyance of the former Lagos State Governor, President Jonathan showed up in a two-car convoy in the thick of the night.

It was at that meeting that IBB and Jonathan promised Tinubu the slot of the Vice President in the Interim government. The sources say Tinubu promptly repeated his rejection of the idea, insisting that the elections are the best and only viable option to choose Nigeria’s next president and vice president.

The interim government plan includes the cancellation of the elections and the imposition of a well-known Northerner as the head of the administration, with Tinubu as VP. The interim government will be put in place for two years, following which new elections would be conducted, with the definite exclusion of Buhari.

Another source revealed to Empowered Newswire that some of the names that have been mentioned as possible heads of the interim government include David Mark, the president of the Senate; General Aliyu Gusau, the current Defence Minister who has always wished to be president “even if for a day”; and Abdusalami Abubakar, also a former head of state.

All three are known allies of IBB. But the name of former president Olusegun Obasanjo was also thrown into the picture when a formal statement from the presidency signed by Dr. Ruben Abati said Obasanjo himself wanted to be head of the Interim govt.

Observers say that formal statement by the president’s spokesperson is the best confirmation that indeed interim governmentG plot is real. Said one source, “If the presidency is saying they know that Obasanjo wanted to be the head of the Interim government, that means the presidency is not only aware of such plans, but is also involved in such a plot.”

There had been previous attempts including monetary and other juicy offers to get Tinubu to prevent the emergence of Buhari in the primaries, and after that, to have Tinubu dump Buhari and enter into a deal with Jonathan to frustrate the potential emergence of Buhari as winner of the presidential polls.

Sources believe that the recent wild allegation from the Jonathan camp that Tinubu was planning to force Osinbajo to relinquish the office of VP after being sworn-in is merely an outcome of the frustration generated first by Tinubu’s insistence that the elections must go on; his rejection of the offer from Jonathan to be VP of an Interim government for two years; and finally his insistence never to dump Buhari.

It is believed that Prof Osinbajo, Buhari’s running mate, has actually never been asked to sign any undertaking or oath of any kind and that he accepted the party and Buhari’s offer to be VP unconditionally. Both he and the APC also over the weekend formally denied any such arrangements.

In the absence of a key figure in the South-West to support and sell the idea of an Interim government, sources said options left on the table is to ensure the elections are “decently rigged” in favor of Jonathan or a crisis precipitated that will lead to Jonathan handing over power to David Mark as the Senate President, as was the case in the First Republic when power devolved to Senator Nwafor Orizu in the absence of the then President Nnamdi Azikiwe. In that scenario, in 1966, the elected civilian leaders had to voluntarily hand over power to the military.

Speculations, backed by a comment by the Supervising Minister of Information Edem Duke, are rife that the INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, may be asked to proceed on terminal leave sometime this month in line with civil service rules. This option, sources say, would boost the plan to “decently rig the election” in the incumbent president’s favor.

But several legal opinions have been articulated that not only will such a move by the federal government to remove Jega be unconstitutional, it would also rubbish the credibility of the entire electoral process and will result in a definite tailspin into national and international crisis.

@mod

I will appreciate if this can be move to front page, because alot of people will learn from this.

contribution from NLders will go along way for most people to be able to differentiate between a religious wedding and the court wedding.

Which is really a White wedding

Most time when issue of white wedding is raise I am always confuse.

which is really a white wedding
is it the church wedding or the court wedding.

Type of wedding
1. customary wedding
2. court wedding
3. Religions wedding

Religious wedding further divide into 3 as well, which are Christain wedding, Muslim wedding and Traditional wedding. the traditional wedding here is base on your faith, the gods you serve, either Amadioha, sango, ogun etc.

Now back to white wedding, anywhere white wedding is been mention, most people take it to be church wedding, while few take it to be court wedding.

Those that take church wedding to be white wedding, what now happen to Muslims and Traditional wedding as well.

again this common among the Christian, I have never seen a muslim refer to their religious wedding as white wedding. bearing in mind that both religious were import into this country.

To me I think the Court wedding should be refer to as the white wedding and not the church wedding.
