4everGod: If you say slavery is wrong in those days when they believed the best way to escape hardship was to attach themselves to the well to do would you have abolished it especially since the slaves under their law were not seen as slaves per se but as helpers and as people being helped and they had protective laws which gave them rights. Real slaves have no rights but these slaves had rights.
God knowing that the issue of slavery would be a thing of the past i am sure did not prioritize the issue especially since there were protective laws over such "slaves".
However if you wish to change a system would you do so via external laws which could be circumvented or via the laws written in the tablets of our hearts so we would love our neighbour as ourselves?
If we all became ambassadors of love via the Holy spirit who sheds the love of God abroad in our heart is that not a much better approach? Is that not what Christ came to do?
Is slavery of greater importance especially since it was transient or is the salvation of souls and redemption of mankind of more importance?
Onesimus was a slave who found Christ. Did his slavery deter his walk with Christ? Its just like what Jesus said in Luke 10: 42 when addressing Martha
41“Martha, Martha, the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things. 42But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her
As long as the slaves had protection and still had their needs met which made them agree to serve in the first place all was well as that was not an emergency situation. do you know how slaves were treated during that time? Please google is your friend after you find out the truth then you will know that those people were cruel. |

Are we in that era now? God respects desires and decisions. When a man willingly submits himself to slavery due to a need the best God or anyone can do is to protect which is why scriptures and instructions like these were given
"If a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall be punished." (Exodus 21:20)
"If a man strikes the eye of his male or female slave, and destroys it, he shall let him go free on account of his eye. "And if he knocks out a tooth of his male or female slave, he shall let him go free on account of his tooth." (Exodus 21:26-27)
"He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death." (Exodus 21:12)
"Six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall cease from labor so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave, as well as your stranger, may refresh themselves. (Exodus 23:12)
"You shall not hand over to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you. (Deuteronomy 23:15)
'If a countryman of yours becomes so poor with regard to you that he sells himself to you, you shall not subject him to a slave's service. 'He shall be with you as a hired man, as if he were a sojourner; he shall serve with you until the year of jubilee. 'He shall then go out from you, he and his sons with him, and shall go back to his family, that he may return to the property of his forefathers. 'For they are My servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt; they are not to be sold in a slave sale. 'You shall not rule over him with severity, but are to revere your God. (Leviticus 25:39-43)
"If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve for six years; but on the seventh he shall go out as a free man without payment." (Exodus 21:2)
He who pampers his slave from childhood Will in the end find him to be a son. (Proverbs 29:21)
Again that era has passed refer above. Besides the new testament advocates for freedom.
@jcross19, thank you for being honest about this and taking the right moral stand; you have my respect. where do you see freedom in the new testament? Please tell me!!!!!. Please don't defend what's not good because is bible . |

By the way we christians see all things in the bible as right deed,no!!! There are many evil things in the bible we christians of this generation need to condemn them. |
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Jesus Didn't Forbid Slavery In The Bible. But Why? by jcross19: 8:48pm On Dec 08, 2016 |
chrmn1: Hi friend. There is such a thing as the permissive will of God (Romans 12:1-3). If I marry a harlot today, God puts a stamp on it because I have signed on the dotted line. He puts His stamp on it not because He feels it's the right thing to do but because He'll always honour a contractual agreement between parties so long as there was no force or duress involved. God will only give the terms in which both parties are to conduct themselves in such a relationship. Regarding slavery in those days, it was a mutually beneficial contract between parties and usually the bondservant would rather stay with his master and serve him because of the provision he/she would get as a result. It was sort of a business engagement that involved terms and conditions and God would work with them even in that context. Here's what He says masters should do in return:
"And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him" (Eph 6:9) sir !!!!! Evil is evil even from the beginning , it has no different name than evil. The act of slavery is evil even from the bible . If the bible writers did not condemn it , it meant something is wrong with the bible and the bible remain imperfect. I am a christian too but I stand and I condemn the act of slavery from the bible . Slaves were created by who? Who made them? Huh so those slaves don't have choice to live on their own Wow!!!!! That's pathetic from the writers of bible. To tell you that we human were the one that made this rules and regulations in the bible and God ordained it for us. Thank God for thomson something like that, that fought the fight and liberate men from slavery I respect him more than many people in the bible. See I am pastor but am not blind one. |

Caseless: Ondo central has the highest voting strength and followed by Ondo north and Ondo south is least on the list.
Akeredolu is sharing the central with jegede, his strongholds are not all out . What do you think votes from south will do cos they're going to be shared with oke? see this bro! Do you know what took mimiko in was ondo south votes? Have you forgotten? Jesus!!! I was born and raised in that place please don't argue with what you don't know. Owo senatorial unit the result is very favourable to apc while ondo central is very favourable to pdp I don't see any hope for apc in south it will be between pdp and ad that's all. |

dguyindcorner: I am right here in Ondo and the only thing I can say is that Aketi has this one won already. stop deceiving yourself, the only place apc is doing well is there stronghold if pdp can manage 5% in their stronghold they are finished. Even from the result am seeing here pdp is still leading. |

muykem: Please recheck the posted results from that result above pdp is leading ! And water side result is there oooh , the election is divided in three phases the north, the central and south apc are too strong in the north while central is base of mimiko and jegede , the upper hand pdp will have is because ola mafo is from water side now you can get my point. The result is this pdp will win with a tight figure, apc , second while ad will be third. Ad figure will be very pure. |

Johnnyessence: It is when the downfall of pdp is at hand that they will be claiming they want to rig d election. It is when there is no hope for pdp in Nigeria that they will be crying up and down. It is when the will of the masses will prevail tomorrow and say bye bye to pdp in ondo that they will be complaining on every side. By the special grace of almighty God pdp will be buried tomorrow. They should rename their party. We are all tired of them. It is their party that brought us to the situation we find our selves to this extent. The masses are turning out massively and vote out mimiko from ondo state politics. The downfall of mimiko, jegede and pdp is at hand. They will lose the election and their is nothing anyone can do about it. Aketi winning in landslide victory. Av been telling them since. They should rename that party called pdp. Nigerians both in diaspora and all over d whole av reject them. They will be disgrace tomorrow. you suppose to be ban for spamming !!! Bible is divided in two portions which are mortal written and holy spirit guided written. The mortal written part of the bible is just human philosophy which we can be found in historical context of the bible, the rules and law of the israelites while the holy spirit guided written is the prophetic part of the bible and direct word from God through holy spirit which stand from genesis to revelation . Truly, as a christian we need to read , observe and meditate on our bible through it we will be free from mental slavery. John 8 vs 32 says: you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. If you doubt what am saying I can give you few bible verses from paul view that contradict the teaching of jesus christ. |

In order to agree with all the terms in the bible we fall into the pit of confusion. Jesus said me and my father are one. John 1 vs 1 to 3 only indicate how in unity jesus is with God. Remember that jesus is our advocate to God then ask yourself can God be advocate to himself for us ? Does it make sense. John 6 vs 14 he said I am the way , the truth and life: no one come unto the FATHER except by ME now think there are persons in that sentence the father which is God and ME which is Jesus.... |
