I respected these women any day and any time. We need to a compilation of contemporary women in Science.
Quick fact: Only one woman has won the Field's Medal, am award considered to the Nobel Prize for Mathematics.
I also that government and women oriented organizations should create endowments for women in STEM in Nigeria. Too much attention on Tiwa and Tonto Dike.

.
Very impressive.

I would only advise you to go after your heart. If you really have a passion to impart knowledge and conduct research, then go for the lecturing job. However, since you have about 6 weeks to decide on the multi national job, think and finally ask Baba God for guidance.

Education / Re: Opeyemi Enoch Solves 156-Year-Old Maths Problem, Gets $1M by jeebz: 1:39am On Nov 19, 2015
gaz:

I am a scientist and I know the steps it takes for a proof to be considered acceptable by the scientific community. He has done the first step, which is tendering his proof before a committee of recognized mathematicians, after which his paper will be sent to other mathematical institute for cross checking, to see if there is any error in his proof.
For now he has given his own proof of the theorem, it is now left for the mathematics community to accept it if correct or reject it if otherwise.
The CMI correspondent said the problem remains unsolved because his proof at the moment is being cross checked and this might take several years to complete(the crosschecking). Also, the problem solving thing does not mean any dick and harry can just tender any rubbish and claim $1,000,000; your proof has to be certified correct before you are paid the money.
Word. Two trucks of Heineken for you. Dr Enoch has done the needful. We await verification.

Don't know if he solved the problem or not but he did present a paper on the topic at the International Conference on Mathematics and Computer Science 10-11 November 2015, Vienna, Austria. See page 8 of the attached:

Thank you. He still needs to publish in a journal of note and wait a minimum of 2 years to be verified

Physics do not really care about money. In fact most scientists care about making the world a better place.
Education / Re: Opeyemi Enoch Solves 156-Year-Old Maths Problem, Gets $1M by jeebz: 9:35pm On Nov 15, 2015
For now I think it remains a conference paper which he presented at ICMCS 2015 in Vienna. Until he publishes in a top notch journal, he may not get the acclaim we want him to.

A couple of universities in the USA already offer Engineering Physics at the undergraduate level. The graduates can function as engineers or do postgraduate courses in physics.

Hello guys...
I have a BS degree in Computer Science from a federal university in Nigeria.
I am preparing to start a PhD program (5 years) in Computer Science come August.
I have research interests in requirements engineering, and modeling and simulation.
I would like to deepen my knowledge in research methods between now and next year
when I will start graduate school.
I would like all my senior researchers to give me advice on what to do in order to have
a successful time in graduate school? Any pitfalls?

Also, anyone who is doing research in IT and Computer Science should please let us interact.
I am really open to new ideas and believe we have one or two things to learn from each other.
Sent you a PM.

Wow! Great thread.
Have only a Bsc for now. Definitely starting my msc next year. Currently working in the banking sector now as an operations staff.
I've got two pressing questions:

1) How flexible/possible is it to run an Msc program being an ops staff that spends most of the day on his desk? Will a part time msc give me much elbow room to juggle both?

2) Due to proximity, I hope to run the people program in a State Uni. First degree was in a Fed Uni. Aiming to go into lecturing soon, hope an msc from a state uni won't be ridiculed when one applies for a lecturing position?

1. I believe that you can work and school together. Though it can be very exerting.
2. A university remains what it is whether state, federal or private. Just ensure you graduate will stellar grades.

i applied to TUK, TUM, Bonn, and Saarland for Summer, please i would like to know your views regards these schools?
Do you guys think i need to apply to more?

PS: i scanned through the thread 1&2, might have missed some info, if mentioned earlier and am going for master infomatik with CGPA:
4.0/5.0

@Eke40seven; i sent you a PM, will be hoping for a more personal communication.
Uni Saarland is very competitive and highly ranked. Max Planck Informatics Institute has strong affiliation with the school. Think of NASA and Caltech.
