Beboy23:Bro, quick advise the US has several types of visa categories. However, only a few give permission to work. The normal B1/B2 visa is a travel visa and does not give permission to work. You may want to rethink your intentions unless you wanna continue doing unskilled jobs for a long while. |

377: I would rather ask what do you want to do? Your profile looks and I think you should give you PHD your best shot. Starting with taking the GRE/GMAT for admission on American universities. You can also try some business schools in Europe. Make use to the Times Higher Education Rankings and select universities that fit your profile. 1 Like |

Senorita123: Ma'am, you would need to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. No one would spoon feed you at this stage of your life. 3.34/5 is not bad for admission into the US. The first thing you can do is to evaluate that GPA using any of the recognized credential evaluation agencies including WES. Take an English Test(TOEFL/IELTS) and GRE. ALso work on your letter of recommendations andn Statement of Purpose. By the way, what course do yo intend to do your MS in? |

Capitabrain: Very good observation/question. The NURTW have obviously failed as a union as they fail to defend their members. They rather extort them without any form of regard. There needs to be a revolution and that must come from the top. 1 Like |

futurewise11: Farabale, Quality education is free in Germany!!!!! I know that, however, who bares the costs? The government. For Pete's sake, this is private university and they can choose to charge whatever fees they deem fit. Where has cheap education led us to in Nigeria. I attended a public university likewise yourself. Do you expect Deeper life to charge 50k for tuition and then after 5 years loose accreditation due to staff attrition and poor facilities. Tertiary education is not cheap. For your reading, https://www.anchoruniversity.edu.ng/discount I rest my case 25 Likes 2 Shares |

Another thread looking to condemn private christian universities. 1. Quality education is not cheap anywhere in the world. Check Harvard, Princeton and similar universities. 2. I believe that the church would have a scholarship scheme for bright students who are members and non-members of the church. 3. Remember, this is a second private university in Lagos. We can only give them say a ten period before we judge. 135 Likes 3 Shares |

Nwanna2588: I think you are getting it twisted, lecturing and teaching are entirely different and both are regulated by different agencies. The unions are also different. Frathermathy has laid it bare and there is no room for gainsaying or contention. Lecturing requires BSc/MSc/Phd while teaching requires B.Ed/M.Ed/PGDE. |
Career / Re: Thread For Aspiring Lecturers by jeebz: 11:11pm On Dec 03, 2016 |
iamclime: I stand to be corrected. Even in first world countries, many of the academic have no real industry experience. Upon completion of PhD programmes, they get openings as a postdoc and then assistant professor. A Masters/Phd degree is proof of ability to research and your teaching skills are honed along the way through Teaching assistant-ships. 1 Like |

oriflamebaby1:. I don't understand your question. Firstly, FBN does not allow customers to indicate their preferred rate. Secondly, FBN will debit account against the next auction date(14-12-2016). Depending on the success or failure of the bid, your interest is credited the next working day(15-12-2016). |

@Op, good one. My advise to intending academics is to make use of every opportunity. Since you are yet to be posted for NYSC, start to narrow down your choice of universities for Postgraduate(Masters) study. It would also major advantage if you can get posted as a corps member to a tertiary education institution(University, Polytechnic or College of Education) as that would count towards your teaching/research experience. 6 Likes 1 Share |

ObadakiM:. Good one from you. It is important to always back up facts with references. You have provided a proof that an HND holder can become a academic staff of a university. In the same line, any reasonable uni would dwell more on your most recent degree/research papers than some degree you earned 10 years ago.Any PhD holder regardless of what route taken would have proven himself to worthy enough to bag the degree. |

OP, Achievers University Owo and Kwara State University are some of the university that do HND conversion programmes. It should take you a minimum of 2 years. Masters and Phd degrees should take between 4 - 8 years depending on what country you choose to study and what routes you choose. Some foreign universities may admit you into a Phd programme directly if your BSc grades are stellar.
