Bro, quick advise the US has several types of visa categories. However, only a few give permission to work. The normal B1/B2 visa is a travel visa and does not give permission to work. You may want to rethink your intentions unless you wanna continue doing unskilled jobs for a long while.

Pls which university can admit me on PHD

I would rather ask what do you want to do? Your profile looks and I think you should give you PHD your best shot. Starting with taking the GRE/GMAT for admission on American universities. You can also try some business schools in Europe. Make use to the Times Higher Education Rankings and select universities that fit your profile.

Hi guys... Keep up the good work. I just started following this page. Please I need your advice or someone to put me through. I graduated with a gp of 3.34 on a scale of 5. That is second class lower. However, I wish to go for my masters abroad. I contacted an agent and he requested for 350k. I can't afford this neither can my parents. I have managed to save some money from my teaching job but even if I continue saving for the next five years with the job, I still cannot afford the tuition. Please what will you advice I do to get the necessary funding considering my low gp. Which country should I consider? I don't av any idea regarding this travelling stuff. All ideas, arguments, advices and constructive criticism are welcome. Thanks and God bless.

Ma'am, you would need to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. No one would spoon feed you at this stage of your life. 3.34/5 is not bad for admission into the US. The first thing you can do is to evaluate that GPA using any of the recognized credential evaluation agencies including WES. Take an English Test(TOEFL/IELTS) and GRE. ALso work on your letter of recommendations andn Statement of Purpose. By the way, what course do yo intend to do your MS in?

Is it possible to start publishing papers at this level? I am a serving corps member in a state university and I really need something that could make securing a lecturing job easy for me. Please scholars in the house, your contributions are needed.

Yes you can publish papers at any level. However, you would need academic guidance because publishing academic articles/papers is no joke at all.
Please state your subject of interest as you may find good collaborators here.

You are very correct. Though I wouldn't add stock as it has a separate market. Money market typically refers to short term instruments held for less than a year i.e T-Bills, Forex, Fixed Deposits, Commercial Papers.

As I was corrected before, interest rates are calculated annually, the same way rates are a percentage i.e over 100%

Therefore since the tenor is 3 months you'd have to divide by 12 months (1 year)

The formula is the same primary school simple interest formula (cc: Michael18)
Interest = (Principal * Rate * Time) /100
= {450,000 * 13.5 * (3/12)}/100
=₦15,187.

I stand to be corrected.

Slightly corrected, Time = 91/365 not 3/12.

For primary auction, we have 91, 182, and 364 days.

Thank you

That should be the secondary market.

If you were debited yesterday, it means your request will be included in the next auction in a fortnight. Always, ensure that request comes on or before close of business on the Monday preceding the auction.

About NURTW, i know this body are called a union,. But what really is their work please? I have been trying to place what they are actually doing for the people they have claimed to represent and the society? In my opinion, I believe they should be able to make member's life and working experience better either through providing good working environment while members pay there dues as we can see they usually pay, either voluntarily or by force. But evidently, these can not be said about the road workers'(the drivers) life, as the features of low life is too evident in the life of most of them. Or is this another place where priority is been misplaced again by our governing institution? But, instead of the life of workers in this career path to be better, rather impoverishness is what this union have successfully made out of its own members through the extortion system that have been place on them...

Very good observation/question. The NURTW have obviously failed as a union as they fail to defend their members. They rather extort them without any form of regard. There needs to be a revolution and that must come from the top.

Firstly, you are wrong.Quality Education in Germany is free.No one is asking the church to upgrade there standard upto ivy league schools level for free.look for another excuse.

How many church members get those scholarships apart from there pastors family?

Honestly the financial activities of Religious body in Nigeria need to be checkmated.

Farabale,

Quality education is free in Germany!!!!! I know that, however, who bares the costs? The government.

For Pete's sake, this is private university and they can choose to charge whatever fees they deem fit.

Where has cheap education led us to in Nigeria. I attended a public university likewise yourself.

Do you expect Deeper life to charge 50k for tuition and then after 5 years loose accreditation due to staff attrition and poor facilities.

Tertiary education is not cheap.

I rest my case

Another thread looking to condemn private christian universities.

1. Quality education is not cheap anywhere in the world. Check Harvard, Princeton and similar universities.
2. I believe that the church would have a scholarship scheme for bright students who are members and non-members of the church.
3. Remember, this is a second private university in Lagos.

We can only give them say a ten period before we judge.

Don't forget that those without the qualifications I mentioned are not licenced by TRCN until they acquire PGDE. So they are dabblers in the profession.

I think you are getting it twisted, lecturing and teaching are entirely different and both are regulated by different agencies. The unions are also different. Frathermathy has laid it bare and there is no room for gainsaying or contention. Lecturing requires BSc/MSc/Phd while teaching requires B.Ed/M.Ed/PGDE.

The best comment I have read so far. Many of our courses are esoteric in nature. Many lecturers do not know jack about what they teach, apart from what they have read in the books. This is especially the case in the Management Sciences. Imagine an Accounting lecturer who has never worked in any accounting role in the industry or a Marketing lecturer who has never worked in Sales, Product Development, Marketing Communications or Marketing Research! It is so pathetic! God willing, I see in myself a seasoned academic in the nearest future, one who can bridge the gap between theory and practice. Marketing rocks!

I stand to be corrected. Even in first world countries, many of the academic have no real industry experience. Upon completion of PhD programmes, they get openings as a postdoc and then assistant professor. A Masters/Phd degree is proof of ability to research and your teaching skills are honed along the way through Teaching assistant-ships.

I'm a graduate of Animal and Environmental Biology

School: UNIBEN

Waiting for NYSC posting too.

Well I'm fortunate to be selected by a Dr. at the moment as a research assistant.

Since I've graduated (July, 2016), I've only spent a week with my parents in Lagos.

What gave me a little advantage over my peers is that I've narrowed down my research interests into two or more branches of researches viz. Insect Ecology, Insect toxicology, invasion biology and pest control.

In addition, I developed my research skills to a little extent by reading lots of scientific journals.

Kindly send me a pm if you need more information.

Warm regards.

Make the best use of this opportunity, your research experience would count for you if you intend to puruse graduate studies immediately after your NYSC.

I was at first bank yesterday and was told the next bidding day for TB is Monday. I was given a form to fill and I bidded 19% for 364 day rolling over only principal not with interest. But to my surprise I got a debit alert of the said amount in the evening. My question is; I thought the debit will be done when the bid is successful and I also thought the interest should remain when the principal was removed? Please is this right and am I safe? Please the gurus in the house should assist with my question, thank you smiley
.

I don't understand your question. Firstly, FBN does not allow customers to indicate their preferred rate. Secondly, FBN will debit account against the next auction date(14-12-2016). Depending on the success or failure of the bid, your interest is credited the next working day(15-12-2016).

@Op, good one.

My advise to intending academics is to make use of every opportunity. Since you are yet to be posted for NYSC, start to narrow down your choice of universities for Postgraduate(Masters) study. It would also major advantage if you can get posted as a corps member to a tertiary education institution(University, Polytechnic or College of Education) as that would count towards your teaching/research experience.

My brother you are contradicting yourself.
The topic here is that can a HND holder with Msc lecture in the University I said yes and I provided evidence.
Now there is no law even from NUC(I stand to be corrected only with facts/links/memo) stating that you can lecture if u have HND+Pgd+Msc+PhD, Send me the memo/link and I 'll keep shut.
How many PhD holders do u think we have in Nigeria, very few and that is why NUC&NBTE are encouraging lecturers to go for PhD.
That is why there are rooms for GA, AL so that they can grow.
I still stand on my point, convince me by given me a link where it is stated that HND+pgd+Msc+PhD can't lecture in the University
Thanks
.

Good one from you. It is important to always back up facts with references. You have provided a proof that an HND holder can become a academic staff of a university. In the same line, any reasonable uni would dwell more on your most recent degree/research papers than some degree you earned 10 years ago.Any PhD holder regardless of what route taken would have proven himself to worthy enough to bag the degree.

OP, Achievers University Owo and Kwara State University are some of the university that do HND conversion programmes. It should take you a minimum of 2 years. Masters and Phd degrees should take between 4 - 8 years depending on what country you choose to study and what routes you choose. Some foreign universities may admit you into a Phd programme directly if your BSc grades are stellar.
