That's the link to chevening advise page on work experience http://www.chevening.org/chevening/blog/2016/work-experience-four-key-points-to-help-you-apply I will just advise that you make enormous efforts to put in very good essays and be careful in filling all sections of the application form. Do thorough research on UK priorities in your country and forge a link between what you want to study and those Uk priorities. To caught long stories, visit this page if you haven't https://scholarshipapplicationguide..fr/2017/08/a-guide-for-scholarship-applications.html I believe it will be helpful. |
majekdom2:I'm sorry sir, but I beg to disagree. What do you mean by 'real work experience'? Even chevening encourges all sorts of work experience: Eligible types of work experience Applicants must meet the minimum work experience requirement before they submit their application for a Chevening Award. The types of work experience that are eligible for Chevening can include: Full-time employment Part-time employment Voluntary work Paid or unpaid internships Work experience can be completed before, during, or after graduating from your undergraduate studies. Employment undertaken as part of your undergraduate or postgraduate course are not eligible. You do not need to meet the work experience requirement in one period of employment nor do you have been working in your current role for the minimum requirement in order to be eligible to apply. Applicants can submit up to ten different employment periods in order to meet the requirement. If you have held more than ten positions then please enter the periods which make up the greatest number of hours worked. (1) All applicants must have worked at least 2,800 hours to be eligible. It is assumed that applicants in full-time employment work on average 35 hours per week and 40 weeks per year. This equates to 2,800 hours over two years. However, if you have worked over 2,800 hours in less than two years, you will still be eligible. If your work experience is not full-time work, calculate the number of hours worked multiplied by the number of weeks in the role. All applicants must have met the work experience requirement when they submit their application. (2) We consider all types of work experience. This includes full-time employment, part-time employment, voluntary work, paid or unpaid internships, freelancing, and self-employment. Work experience from before, during or after your undergraduate degree is eligible and can take place in any country, regardless of whether or not it is your country of citizenship. If your work experience was a mandatory part of your university course, this will not count towards the work experience criteria. THE MAJOR CONCERN IS THAT You should be able to explain how your previous work experience relates to your course or why you are deciding to switch if it is not related Here is what chevening says: (3) Your work experience does not need to be related to the course/s you want to study. We accept work experience from any field. However, if your course choices are not related to your work experience, you will need to explain why you are seeking to make a career change. Note the transferable skills you have gained from your current field of work and how they will help you in your studies and with your future career goals. DONALD TRUMP DID NOT HAVE RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE TO BECOME A 'SUITABLE U.S. PRESIDENT', YET HILARY CLINTON WITH ALL HER PROFESSIONAL POLITICAL CAREER PROFILE STILL LOST TO HIM. |
vingeophysicist:Yes, certainly you can...You just need to be creative about describing how what you did at your PPA and your CDS fits into your proposed course of study and future career. As a matter of fact you can also get extra hours by listing your PPA and CD Activities under different job headings, especially if you spent enough time on CD group initiatives. I got chevening this year with NYSC+my teaching in a private school after NYSC+Voluntary research assistant role. The thoughts about the relevance of NYSC was what almost put me of from applying, but thanks to the help and support I got from a group of scholarship enthusiasts, I summoned courage to go on and I got the award. But ensure your essays are super tight and your university grades are not too low. |
kingramonkhan:Isn't your WAEC certificate issued in English, or is there something I don't understand? Why would you want to TRANSLATE it? |
Crane1:Straight to the point. Essays alone are not responsible for the invite. CVs, transcripts, WASSCE, International passport and several other documents are mandatory for being shortlisted. If successful, you get to write a test before being invited for an interview, the test is 100% SHL verbal and numerical reasoning. From then on, successful candidates are invited to PORTHARCOURT for an Interview with TOTAL's international and local HR and education team. ABOUT THE ESSAYS 1. Go online and begin searching on how to write a good scholarship motivational statement. 2. Read as much tips and examples you can find; internalise them and then practise writing your own essays. 3. If you do this, it would help you present a compelling argument at your interview, because a genuine and well-written essay leads you to self discovery. 4. Go and dust your WASCCE english essay notes and recall the rules of COEMA: coherence, organisation, expression, and mechanical accuracy. 5. Let your essay communicate your passion for the program and the country, a description of your suitability for the course shown by tangible evidence in your professional and academic achievements, a clear post-study career plan and a commitment to use your training to contribute to the development of your country, Maximum of 1000 words used judiciously should help you deliver. Simple as this guide is, following it would help you put in a winning application. Na overconfidence they kill pass. |
dyduds:ethnic minority, tribe and indigenous group are all synonyms. They simply want to know if your tribe is in the majority in your country, the size. E.g Yoruba is not a minority same as Igbo. |
vingeophysicist:If I understand what you mean, you are to apply for admission directly to the three universities you have chosen and also fill their names in the chevening application. |
joefab:Guys let's be honest, we need to be very proactive when it comes to issues like this. Take the bull by the horns and go get what you need yourself, rather than waiting to be 'spoon-fed'. The internet is a pool of information at everyone's disposal containing answers to almost anything you want. Simply googling 'how to prepare chevening reference letters' or 'getting an excellent scholarship reference' will provide more information than I can give to you, and you'll definitely appreciate what you get better because you put effort into it. Not everyone may have the luxury of time to begin giving answers to simple queries as yours. If you had been even more specific with your question, then things would have been much easier. But the way you posed the question 'please can you help me out with how to go about the reference' suggests that you haven't attempted to study details about references on chevening's website, then where should I start from to help you? It's also possible that I don't check this thread regularly and so the time spent in waiting for my reply has merely been wasted whereas you could have gotten a reply faster by making your own search. Anyway visit http://www.chevening.org/apply/references as a starting point. Good luck |
olayemite:When the time comes, I hope I would have enough time and space to do so. Thanks for your kind thoughts. |
wroskian:Thanks bro. |
Based on the experiences I acquired from the numerous application processes, I have decided to give my own portion of lessons to the global community of scholarship enthusiasts. Although my emphasis will be on the Chevening scholarship, but I believe that whatever one is able to glean from this write-up could be tailored to meet any other form of scholarship that requires essay writing. Please visit this link for more. Everything runs into about 15 pages. https://scholarshipapplicationguide..com.ng/2017/08/a-guide-for-scholarship-applications.html |
It’s around that time of the year again when several scholarship applications for the next academic year open. This is particularly the case with the UK government scholarships, namely Chevening scholarship awards, the Commonwealth scholarship for commonwealth countries and the Shared scholarship, which opens much later in the academic year. During this period, many scholarship enthusiasts seek different sources of information about how to prepare winning scholarship essays and submissions. While some depend on their network of friends, some do not give the internet a break and some others like myself jointly use both sources of information. Personally, I believe the internet is a very reliable source of information because it helps to reach out to a larger audience without the barriers of time and distance. |
Hey guys, I finally had time to prepare tips for chevening application based on my experience. Everything runs into about 15 pages. Find the link below https://scholarshipapplicationguide..com/2017/08/a-guide-for-scholarship-applications.html It also contains illustrations with real essays. |
kuchikau1:Hello Kuchikau, please can you modify the post you quoted my phone number and modify it by removing the number. Thanks. |
obuksjr:sorry for my late response guys. I took the TOTAL scholarship to study international energy in Paris. |
No calculators o. But from my experience enough practice will be very helpful. Also try to discover the tactics used in constructing the questions so that you can easily master shortcuts for questions of a particular pattern. |
usmanktg2:Or you are answering based on what you saw on the so-called Past Questions why would you ask your question this way, isn't evident from my answer that I wrote it last year? I even went ahead to include a disclaimer that my tips were solely based on last year's experience, and so may not be the same case as this year's. |
these kukah centre guys are so unreliable...... |
It''s 2.1 minimum, chevening requirement; not the university. Although I got chevening with a 2.1, I declined it for another scholarship in Paris. |
Vecharry:NUMERICAL::: it was data interpretation (graph etc) VERBAL::: it was true or false or cannot say DISCLAIMER: IT WAS LAST YEAR'S FORMAT. India Bix wasn't what dragnet use. |
I wish to give some tips of advice with regard to the question last year, especially the DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS FOR PETROLEUM ECONOMICS. 1. Grab the basics of the oil and gas exploration business. You need to know the categories of oil wells and types of reserves(Probable, Possible....). 2. The conversion factors of oil to gas and vice-versal. 3. Petroleum sector development in Nigeria. The structure and important dates; location of oil refineries, notable years of discoveries; and other related stuff. Online courses or relevant e-textbooks or google is sufficient for the above. 4. ECONOMICS. a. Essentials of calculus and fundamental principles of differentiation and integration. b. Basic concepts like consumer theory(utility), cost theory(MC,AC,TC) and other basic stuffs. c. Categories of economic agents. This should be close to what you'll find in the first two chapters of any economics text book, either in secondary school or college. CAVEAT * I am not a dragnet staff but only a last year participant in the exercise, therefore my suggestions are only based on my experience from last year and they should not be considered as a formal guide whatsoever. * Whoever decides to work with this information should be liable for the all its outcome, either positive or negative. N:B I did not get the scholarship last year, although I will be leaving the county soon on another scholarship come August. So I may not have the capacity to answer questions associated with this selection programme. In addition to this, I do not have a smart phone for now and as such prompt response or feedback to questions is not certain. I WISH US ALL THE BEST IN OUR ENDEAVOURS. |
really nice. all the best. I will be going to F France since I got Total scholarship |
