Techguy96:that is one perspective let look at it from another. In 1954 Khrushchev ceded crimea from Russia to ukraine. Crimea oblast was part of Russia. The USSR did not believe that the union would cease to exist in the future. USSR dissolution happened abruptly it wasn't planned so people just took whatever they could that is the reason a lot of Russian oligarchs became billionaire. A lot of the population of the crimea are Russian or Russia speaking ukrainian. Before the coup that removed the former elected ukrainian president. The previous ukrainian government rented out crimea to the Russian military. The Russian military had always been in crimea. When the coup occurred backed by the west since the Russian government did not have fast military deployment capabilities then to quell the coup they immediately conducted referendum in crimea and annexed it due to it strategic military importance. |
Northernblood5:NATO membership application was embedded into ukraine constitution in 2019. Just saying they have no interest wouldn't solve it. You have to understand the history behind the invasion. From the fall of the Berlin Wall to the Warsaw pact era to the ukrainian coup that removed the pro Russian government. Look at what happened in Kazakhstan recently you see how Putin immediately deployed Russian force to the country to quell the unrest. |
inoki247:there is difference between the Afghanistan situation and this. 1. Russia would not be that dumb to want to occupy the whole country they would learn from their previous experience in Afghanistan and the recent USA experience there. There are only a few afghan people sympathetic to the USA and USA wanted to install a government for the whole country. but in ukraine they have a lot of Russian speaking people who are sympathetic to Russia they would only annex those region with majority Russian population like Crimea donetsk luhansk in ukraine trasnistria in Moldova, abkhazia and South ossetia in Georgia 2. There mission is to weaken ukraine militarily so it would be difficult for them to keep attacking the rebel held region. 3. Since there would be disputed region in the country they wouldn't be able to join NATO 4. Even if they decide to cede those region to Russia Russia would still force them to enshrine neutrality in the new ukrainian Republic constitution. 5. Toppling the Kiev government would be difficult as it would involve urban Street to street fighting even if they succeed the puppet government would not survive because the Kiev people are pro west so they would just mutate into guerrilla warfare. Russia would not be much perturbed as the destruction is only happening in ukrainian soil |
butpro:I believe he had a red card from previous match |
It is table manners I guess. You don't talk while you eat |
CoronaVirusPro:Hitler lost the war the moment he turned on the soviet. Germans lost more soldier to the Eastern flank than the west. The Germans preferred to surrender to the Western allies than to the Russian because of how ruthless the soviet was. The West and soviet alliance changed the war dynamics. Hitler had captured most of the west already bombing the UK. The Russian are trying to minimise civilian casualty so they aren't utilising maximum air operations. |
But there would be no sanctions by the UN as the Russian will veto it. There would be no sanction to implement. |
mycar:Russia have several satellite they could use in seeing real time image of what is happening in ukraine. It would be stupid for any military to use or rely on tools from it opponent during a war. Most of this technology that this companies use militaries have had those capabilities along time ago although hidden from public and there a lot they have that are secret. |
If the Russian economy recovers from this sanction it would completely make the EU irrelevant in the world's affair . Eu should think long term |
Eriokanmi:the ban would affect both side. Russian flight would take longer route same thing with European countries. It just means Russians need to move buy boat or bus to an European country and then fly with an European airline. Russian airline would be affected because they would loose a European market passenger and also their flight to other destinations would be longer as they make detour. Sanction would affect both side but more on Russian airline because EU airlines going the Asia route would take longer times and more fuel |
CSTRR:yes he will attend un summit even if it in the USA because he has diplomatic immunity |
Rgade:no eu member country in NATO can take on Russia this the ukrainian president should have known. Eu countries spend very little on thier military and more on the economy. Look at what happened on the sudden withdrawal of American troop from Afghanistan. The eu countries could not stand on thier own largely because they do not have fast response military deployment capability. They depend largely on America protection as deterrence. The ukrainian president is not a politician. When you have a country with strong military capability as your neighbour the best thing is to be neutral or seek military cooperation with the east and economic cooperation with the west |
moralistic:they would not join. The reason is any attempt for NATO to move eastward would be strongly opposed by Russia especially if the country share huge land border with Russia. if the country increases collaboration with NATO then Russia would likely invade the country using false flag operations |
Selection or coronation |
nijanigga:the nuclear weapon was owned by the soviet Union. The ukrainian did not have the relevant technical knowledge finance to either use, develope and maintain those nuclear weapons the soviet kept there after the sudden break up. Only The Russian knows the encryption the system used. Having something that can annihilate you at your backyard at a single mistake and which you can't afford to maintain just for only to appear like a world power is plain stupid |
What Putin wanted to achieve was creating a federal system within ukraine with great autonomy for the Eastern Ukraine Region which allow a balanced central government that has both pro West and pro Russian in it. Which was part of the Minsk agreement but unfortunately the Ukrainian believed they signed the agreement as the weaker side. The USA funded the coup that removed the former Ukrainian government sympathetic to Russia. The solution i believe is the FINLADIZATION of Ukraine. It has worked for Finland it would work for ukraine. Russia would allow the independence of ukraine it can join the eu but not NATO and Ukraine would never oppose Russian foreign interest. The Russian government has a balanced budget huge foreign reserves in various currency. A developed and diversified economy with huge source of raw materials. The European are much more dependent on Russia raw materials so much sanction would be devastating to both side. Russian and Ukrainian are same slavic people. It is not a good idea to have a unipolar world. The West should show Putin some respect. |
Coming from someone who overthrew a democratically elected government. Can he just sign the electoral ammendment bill. How has he during his tenure strengthed public and democratic institution making them especially transparent |
Theoretical physics |
Lol. The difference is the rule of law and equality under the rule of law. Police would be there to remove any protesters breaking the law and charged appropriately without using extra judicial/constitutional means. The police there are highly independent and their role is to protect the state and not the government. Can a constable arrest Malami if he witnesses Malami breaking the law |
Fiscus105:be realistic, the Russian government has more nuclear war head pointed to america than America has to Russia. Those two countries would never engage in an open conflict the only options available to them is to sponsor rebel group in ukraine and use economic sanctions just to make the cost of the war costly for the Russians. The reason why most countries are issuing advisory is because in the case of war they would not be able to send in millitary aircraft to evacuate their citizens. |
Can the military provides additional layer of security for the US president? Yes but only on request by the secrete service who are constitutionally mandated to provide security for the president and his family. It has to be approved and permit issued by the host country which I doubt would happen because I doubt if the host country will grant diplomatic immunity to his security details. What would be the use for a marine with no weapon? The amount of and the grade of weapons that the visiting president security teams can bring has to be explicitly authorised by the host nation. Typically this additional layer of security is the responsibility of the host country local police. It all boils down to principle reciprocity if the United state would also allow military personel with military grade weapons from the host country when they visit the United state . Protection of the visiting president is the responsibility of the host country. Although some host country could wave some of this requirement especially when it receives huge foreign aid from the United state or if the host president want to legitimise or increase acceptance of his government |
lexy2014:Marines are members of the marine corp and are not soldiers. Soldiers are member of army just like sailor are members of the navy |
God1000:Russia and China. security arrangement during presidential trips is quite expensive. only a rich country with a high-security budget can afford to have as much security detail that is if it is allowed by the host country God1000:yes only if the country he is visiting grants permission and issue the necessary permits for his security details to carry a firearm just like the president and his entourage also require a visa to visit the host country. the security details travel on an official passport but have no diplomatic immunity |
I am still trying to wrap my head around how an average Nigerian benefits from buying cheap fuel. |
Why didn't the family carry out an autopsy |
Gooooooooooal Tunisia heavy Bleep up |
seunmsg:so government couldn't have achieved all you stated without the ban. |
Even during Abacha days. The dictator had numerous support for all his draconian actions, so this does not surprise me. Just imagine if this governor had state police. There is a need to strengthen our institutions, this would ensure they defend the state interest, protect the rule of law instead of political interest. the police authority should punish bad behaviour of it personnel. |
Their is no country on earth that can defeat Russia in any kind of war fare Hitler tried and regretted it. The country land mass is too large plus it weather condition. Russia would capture Ukraine in less than 2 days NATO would only respond with sanction nothing else. Without Nuke no country in Europe even USA could defeat Russia. the main reason why NATO was formed was to counter Russia . NATO in ukraine is similar with Russia nuke present in Mexico. |
Peaceworld:nato was formed to counter Russia. The purpose of the organisation would become useless if Russia joins. |
OLDESTWARRIBOY:why should they take malaria seriously when there is no financial incentive? Pharma companies aren't charity organisation. If countries that suffer from a disease are too lazy to invest in it health care/drug discovery , why should other countries do it for us, expecially for disease that do not affect them? |
meobizy:what does safe means to you? Are there any procedure that are 100% safe? Why is it considered a Permanent sterilisation? Mind you according to NHS success rate within three years of the procedure reversal is around 75%, within three to eight years is 55% etc. There is no guarantee that fertertlity would be returned. |
