Hi Guys, I must say this is a very interesting thread. I must be frank with you guys getting a visa from these embassies is based on luck. I have gone for an interview where the only question i was asked was to state the meaning of Habeas Corpus a legal term. As regards the issue of appeals, i have conducted many of whic i have won some and lost some. Being a lawyer, the 1st thing i do when approached to conduct an appeal is to review the case. In years of doing this, i have found out that most applications are defective. The ECO's are not stupid or dumb and in most cases they are right in refusing the applications. I had a case where a student was refused application to go study in the UK. He came to me and after reviewing his file i told him not to even bother appealing the decison cos there was no way in the world the decison of the ECO was to be reveresed on appeal. Going through the documents submitted, it was obvious the chap was not going there to study. So my advice to applicants is to submit as little documents as necessary and do away with irrelevant ones. A client in his application submitted a copy his late father's Will! I have also handled client's genuinely seeking entry into the these countries who have been refused. The truth is most of these were granted visas on appeal. For those appealing, have it at the back of your mind that the AIT would in most cases upholding the decision of the ECO as relates to finding of facts in respect of the application. I am willing to be of assistance in any way i can if so required and you can contact me via this thread if you so desire. Good luck. |
@soapdish& Kamikaze Thanks for the compliments. Kamikaze, i think the your idea of coming together is a wonderful one. Concidentally, i was discussing with a colleague of mine on an avenue for we lawyers to network. We really need it to tap into the vast resources of this nation. I tell my friends that lawyers are richer than bankers. Banker are paid salaries while we lawyers get paid salaries and also make money from private briefs. So bright ideas on the networking anyone Jericho |
Hi Everyone, I am glad at the introduction of this tread on this site. I will share my success secret in the legal profession with you. Being a legal practitioner does not mean you have to slave for a principal. Over the years, i have found out that the difference between being a principal and pupil is in getting the clients. Check this out, the principal sources for the clients, the pupil performs the job and the principal gets paid. Have you noticed how principals go into a frenzy when they find out the pupil isn't in the office at a particular time or comes back late from court. Don't you know that they have discovered this secret and are willing to keep it that way! So, my advice to you guys is wake up and get your own clients. I am not saying that you have to quit your present employment to do this. Do you know that everyone you meet out there is a potential client? There are people buying and selling properties everyday who need you and i to prepare Agreements; people confused who dont know the next step to take and need legal advice from us. Look, do not believe the lies we have been brainwashed with over the years that lawyers are poor. Lawyers are freakingly rich and well to do (at least the ones i know of). Go over to the Bankole Aluko memorial football competition organised by Aluko & Oyebode and see the kinds of flashy cars lawyers drive and you will have a change of heart. For the new wigs i bid you welcome to the most noble and rewarding profession on earth. Jericho |
The problem with Nigeria is multi faceted. firstly, we have a coach who knows nothing about football. Forget his past exploits and concentrate on the present. This same coach took our boys to train in Malaga, spain in a temperate region of the world in preparation for a tournament in the tropics. Does that show the coach as sensible? No way. Secondly, this same coach assembled a team that on a good day cannot beat Eyimba or worse still Wikki Tourist. To say the least the man is a huge dissapointment. Now let us go to the Players, they play as if there is nothing at stake better still as if the tournament is a friendly match: 1. Kanu Whoever knows this bros personally should advise him to quit as his real age is catching up with him. 2. Ayegbeni He must have been a wrestler or weight lifter before venturing into football. This chap is extremely skill-less and has no football sense. 3. Apam On second thoughts i would not bother expending energy on tis nonentity. 4. Olofinjana Sum him up in one word "useless" 5. Martins He is a flop. He has really dissapointed me in this tournament. 6. Mikel Obi I had to save the best for last. This guy is just a dunce. Since he joined chelsea, his game has dropped. He is the king of back pass and rough tackles. Sincerely warch him from now on he never passes the ball forward. To say the least, these guys have been dissapointing. I am really praying that we qualify from the group but i am not putting my hopes on it. My last words are for the NFA, please disband the team and save us the heartache of not qualifying for 2010 world cup. |

I am of the opinion that uk built cars have more toys. I just got this 1997 rover 623 Si and reallly in love with it. I had the option of a 1997 bulldog. In comparison, the rover beats the bulldog hands down. The rover comes equipped with all round leather interior including the steering, 16" alloys, 10 Cd loader, ABS, Power steering, power moonroof, power windows, SRS, factory Ac and 2.3 litre 16v Inline 4 cylinder engine built by honda that does an average of 32km/gallon (i actually calculated this in lekki traffic everyday) in traffic and around 40km/gallon on the express (lagos to ibadan). it also has a sports mode that increases the rev on the expressway. It's acceleration is breath taking and speed is something else.Mean while the bulldog is just there. interior is upholstery (boring) A friend of mine and i are actually taking both cars for a race this weekend to epe just for trips. will gist u on the outcome. jericho |
Mfon, All cars have engine numbers. The VIN number definitely aint the engine number. Cars from North America usually have VIN numbers to identify and track them. Had a toyota camry once, had trouble locating the engine number, but finally found it. Get a mech to locate it for you. It is definitely on the engine block. Cheers, Jericho |
Hi Guys, I am a car freak and have had the opportunity of owning both UK and american built cars over the years. Take for example there is the UK built honda accord 1997 (bullet) and the american built honda accord 1997 (bulldog). I have noticed that most cars from UK come with manual gears and the ones from America come with Auto transmission. Now guys which one has better performance, design and interior? Also have you noticed that the cars from the UK are cheaper for the same model than their american counterparts. Kindly post your views, experience and comments. Thanks Jericho. |

HI Guys, I am in the market for the purchase of a 2nd car. My choices are in no order of preference 1. Nissan altima 1999 model 2. Toyota camry 1997/8 3. Honda 97/98 (baby boy) The car must be clean, automatic, Factory Ac and mileage prefereably less than a 100k. it may be a tokunbo direct or well maintained nigeria used. Kindly forward pix, price and contact to contact me thru my email: toluakin@hotmail.com Thanks in advance |
I once had a jetta automatic with factory ac and all of a sudden one day the temp starts overheating. i bought a new radiator, changed the gasket, water pump, poured in only coolant, i was also advised to purge the gas in the compressor that the ac was blocked. i did all these but the temp still kept rising. I spent about 50k in all, until some one advised me to change the condenser. Voila that was the solution. So guy it may be that the condenser is blocked. cheers |
Thanks viperman, really appreciate the info. I was in the market too about 2 weeks ago and this model was going for 950k for the toks. The one i saw had 120k miles on the clock and ordinary upholstery. This one comes with leather seats and the mileage is still under 100k, 96k to be precise. The engine runs as perfect as normal cos the car was bought brand new in 1999. That said thanks once again for the info. cheers.
