Primesky: Lol at a small boy saying he's too old, what do you know, or what have you seen. Just for the brief existence God has allowed you on His earth, you're making a noise. What do you know?!. Be humble and learn. God reveals Himself to the humble.
A lion and a sheep are never the same you know?. What is meat for one is not for the other, and that's how it will be for those who are yet to be born again.
The bible said, "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, all things are past away, behold all the things are become new.
The qustion is, those who are not in Christ, what kind of creatures are they?. That's why the things of God will appear and sound foolish and rubbish to some persons. But thanks be to God, who has graciously made a way to change us from people who reason foolishly to those who see things the way He sees.
God is real. If you are waiting to see Him the way He is before you believe, then know for sure you will surely see Him someday. Only pray you survive it. Because that's not the standard He set.
He said this is the way you should go, you said no, this is the way I want to go. At the end of the day, you will have to prove your wisdom before Him.
It is crass foolishness for a mortal to question his maker. May God have mercy. I have been a Christian, a Muslim and now, an atheist. You have only been a Christian. You know nothing |

KoiceReloaded: Finished 40 Year Old Virgin an hour ago.
Steve Carrell on the beat.
The guy is a comic genius. Great cast too. Seth Rogen (The guy behind the hit tv show, "Preacher" ), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Romany Malco, Jane Lynch and Elizabeth Banks. This movie is funny. Anything I say right now won't do it justice. Just watch it. The movie was a hit when it came out many years ago. I was still in school then. I wonder if the jokes are dated now. |

KoiceReloaded: Gattaca
Fantastic film that swirled a lot of genre around (noir, sci-fi, drama, etc), without falling slave to either of them. Everything down to the visuals was handled very well. There's plenty more I can discuss, but I'll just jot down a quick list of other things I like about the film.
- The supporting lead (Jude Law)'s chemistry with the lead (Ethan Hawke) that goes from antagonistic to close friend - Ethan Hawke's superb acting - The soundtracks - Very educational: I learned some new things about genetics - The realism: It's a sci-fi but feel very grounded, like you can completely believe the science involved. - Top cinematography for a 1997 film
7.5/10 That film is inspiring. I love the message. "hard work beats talent" Ethan Hawke's character overcame the obstacle of being born without the right genetic makeup. Conviction!!1 Ethan Hawke is an actor, menn. |

Primesky: Hmm...If I tell you yes now, you will mock and sneer. But because you haven't seen Him physically like Thomas, that's why you doubt His existence, right?.
I wonder if you believe you have a mind, have you ever seen your mind, but you believe it.
Now to your question, God is real, Jesus Christ is real and the Holy Spirit is real!. I do not believe in God sorly because some persons in clerical collar told me so, I do because, I as a person AFTER I believed the report of the bible and the messengers of God, did have a personal encounters with God, that have continued till now.
God is real, talks with us, guides us, warns and delivers us from danger. Most importantly, He forgives us our sins and puts us right. A man who haven't had an encounter with God can not understand just how sweet knowing and walking with God can be.
The sweetest moments with Him is in the place of private worship and prayers. You start, you just don't want to go or stop, such sweetness you never experience anywhere else, it just flows unending. And when you do get up, you rise with ideas that leave people amazed at you, you rise with solutions and guidance for that day. I really feel for those who still doubt this God. The issue is, you can never bring Him to act on your own terms. It's believe and you will receive, see and have. But we tend to want to see and touch first before we believe, now that's the problem.
God is a person, He can be your personal friend and person, a Father like no other to you, if only you will accept Him as one.
Jesus lives you. You know that you are talking rubbish. If you have seen God yourself, you wouldnt be writing all these epistles. You would be telling me what he looks like and what he sounds like. My guy, I dont waste time with invisible people. I'm too old to be believing in fairy tales and invisible sky daddies |

Ishilove: If I choose not to write lengthy notes on movies or shows I've watched then it's because I have my reasons. I don't owe you or anyone else that effort. I will review any show as I please, and if you don't like it, go and stick your head up a donkey's arse. I did not quote you and neither did I mention you. It is your guilty conscience worrying you. Don't blame me for your perverse taste in movies. Nobody asked you to write lengthy essays to review movies. You just lack a certain ability review things sensibly. |

KoiceReloaded: There's a f**kton variety of comedies in there, not only slapstick. It made fun of religion, made fun of politics, broke the 4th wall, made sexual innuendoes, showed utter contempt for the audience (remember the literal cop-out abrupt ending?), etc.
When I watched it as a kid, I didn't get the humor, didn't understand why Mom and Dad were laughing so hard, then later as an adult when I've become better acquainted with British humor, I watched it again, and literally 10 secs in, I knew I was in for a treat, and I wasn't disappointed. Then the Black Knight scene came on... I died laughing. Sh*t was funny as f**k
The entire exchange is so funny, esp,
"'Tis but a scratch" "A scratch!? Your arm has fallen off!"
Then, the gem that got me rolling on the floor
"Just a flesh wound."
They don't make them like that anymore, alas
Watch Life of Brian. It's another work from Monty Python, and even funnier. IMO, arguably their best work. I wanted to comment on her empty review but I stopped because I didn't want to be called a troll. The religious parts are the funniest. |

KoiceReloaded:

But seriously, the low-life and high tech combo we gleaned from that film made a solid case for the world building aspect. It illustrated a detailed cyberpunk presence, and it's no secret that cyperpunk is a subgenre of sci-fi. Accept my apologies, I was thinking "steampunk" when you said cyberpunk. Yes, it does have a cyberpunk presence. |

KoiceReloaded: The world building is subtle but ever present, heck you can't miss it. The cinematography, the locations are all part of world building. The atmosphere. There is a real sense of the outside and the inside in a reality that is interesting. Also, don't forget the criminal hospital, futuristic semi-cyberpunk hell and art deco.
Decent world building. No be only cyber-punk, na daft punk! |

KoiceReloaded: Now, that the criticism is well out of the way, I can tell you why I really enjoyed the film, particularly the concept: - Commendable world building: Inspite of the weak plot, the small details tell me that there was some real world building going on. I felt like I could see the original comic book-esque sketches of the characters. - Noir ambience: It did a good job creating this atmosphere of impending danger at every corner, and I'm a sucker for such an atmosphere - Limited action: Unpopular opinion but I liked it that way. I felt that too much action would have ruined the intricate world building going on subtly behind the scene. They would have marketed it more as a noir thriller tho, instead of the sci-fi dystopian action thriller they went with. Would have gone a long way to checking the consumers high expectations. - Decent exposition: I felt like the script did good job explaining the characters connection without overdoing the exposition. - The Sofia Boutella and Dave Bautista factor: Sofia played the perfect assassin. The hallway fight was one of the best ones in years. - Decent dialogue: The dialogue was always on point. - Decent acting: Even though they feel like plot props at times, everyone killed it in their respective roles.
Conclusion: I felt like it did great with a modest $15 million budget. Would have been a masterpiece, if the plot's potential was maximized. Still, a decent noir thriller with some element of sci-fi.
Overall Score: 7/10. I cut out the negative points you put about the film because we are both in agreement about what it lacks. I am only going to address the positives you put. -There is no world building. I had no foreknowledge of any comic book source and so, most of the world building came from exposition in the film. It would have been better for the film to show the water problem, the extent of future technology in the city and the riots. A dystopian film that lacks true dystopia -Noir ambience. Yes 100% correct! I have no disagreement -Limited action. Yes, this would have been a minor issue but the lack of other visuals and exploration of themes made it more glaring -Sofia Boutella (too skinny to be an assassin. She was more convincing in Kingsmen). Bautista was great. -Decent dialogue. Yes -Decent acting. Yes Conclusion- I have seen the Judge Dredd remake. This is a poor man's version of Judge Dredd 2012. Score- 5.5/10. Average action movie. Not bad. |

Ishilove: It's not a hotel. It's an underground hospital for elite criminals.
Which fight scenes are you expecting in an environment that has strict laws about fighting? The whole film is centred around the hospital and it's nurse so what action are you expecting??
It seems people just watch movies for the fights alone. You actually don't give attention to the themes and premises, which is why they fail to see the beauty of this wonderful movie There could have been many fight scenes. It is an action film after all. There was a riot taking place before we were shown the hotel artemis. They didnt show much of the riot. They didnt give much background to the female assassin and neither did they give to the wolf king. There The themes are far too underdeveloped. So, your argument that we are ignoring the themes for the fight scenes. Did I not already point how there was little futurism or dystopia in the dystopian film? Has it not been pointed out that the character's backgrounds were not fully fleshed out? I typically find your reviews and comments here to be pseudo-intellectual. You are talking about themes and you cannot even explore them. |

Ishilove: You have started again with spoilers. Create a separate thread and I will point out all the very obvious answers.
You also don't get to tell me what kind of movies to stick to. I have stated the kind of stories I like and you don't have to like what I like, capisce? Sorry about the spoilers. I just wanted to explain my reasoning about the movie As for telling you what kind of movies to stick to, I did that happily. You are among the people that give totally biased reviews on this thread. I have watched 3 useless movies due to overhyped reviews. |
