Some bad belle people never like good news. They always see bad in everything. See this one up there that is shouting corruption for example ![]() |
Point of correction. The bible never said it was a whale. People just assumed that. It said it was a large sea creature or great fish. |
Papist:Talmud is a Jewish book not a Christian book. No one ever said it was Christian. It contained the old testament laws and genealogies. Which was used partly the the Old Testament reviews. The question you need to ask yourself is, who burnt it? |
Papist:Please which scripture is that? |
Papist:Your fellow brother that went about preaching that Christ wants us penniless. I laff. ![]() |
Papist:I am suggesting that history has nothing to do with confirming if a dogma is right. I can give you Jehovah Witness history if you like and why they believe what they beleive. What matters is the scriptures and what it says. |
italo:The Talmud is a huge collection of doctrines and laws compiled and written before the 8th Century, A.D., by ancient Jewish teachers. The Talmud, which often cites the Old Testament, is the basic book of Jewish law. Babylonian and Palestinian Talmuds There are two editions of the Talmud; one was composed by Babylonian Jews and one by Jews who lived in ancient Jerusalem. Generally a citation from the Talmud refers to the Babylonian version, which is considered authoritative. The Jerusalem Talmud is not generally taught in even the most Orthodox Jewish schools today, though advanced Talmud scholars sometimes study it. — Anti-Defamation League (12) So seeing that there old testament laws came from that, I wonder what point you're trying to prove. BTW, there are two types of Talmud. I am sure the heretical one you are referring to is the Jerusalem Talmud. So take a chill pill and do a research before talking trash. |
Dhugal:You lucky say I no get your time today sha. |
italo:I didn't see where you quoted that. |
italo:So you want to run away from our previous discussion and bring up something else. You've not said AMEN to that prayer yet. |
italo:From what you say, its obvious you don't beleive the bible. You beleive in the words of men. |
italo:Why do you accuse me falsely my guy. Its one of the sins God says is an abomination to Him o. |
italo:How na. You're the one who doesn't believe the bible. You are afraid of the Truth. No wonder when Jesus Himself brought the Truth, He was called a heretical teacher by the Pharisees. Pharisees are those who stay too far from the Truth that they can't even see it. ![]() |
italo:BTW, I thought you were Jehovah Witness, why are you here? |
italo:Italo I actually didn't know this was you. Ahh! For your sake I would have brought out the sources. ![]() |
italo:Hahaha. Italo. My guy. You are welcome to the conversation. You talk of history channel. Well, that was why I diverted the discussion back to the scriptures. All I want right now is scriptural backing of all claims. Shikena. |
castro316: cool. |
italo:I can cite many, I just don't have time. |
Papist:Forget all this ones. I don't have time to start getting into history. The point is, is what you're doing commanded in the scriptures? I have seen majority twist the scripture to try to suit their claims. Most Catholics just believe all these because they grew up that way. So even if the truth comes, its hard to accept. Instead they use scriptures that was given to them from the pulpit that has been twisted from generations past to try and defend their claims.. |
castro316:Okay. I am sure you gave all of it to God. |
castro316:So you used your first salary to buy BB |
Papist:There is no just one source. I mostly got my info from the history channel and then other readings. But anyway, what you reffered to there is the Third Ecumenical council, which was in the 5th century. And maybe as you know the concept of praying to Mary came as a result of a hymn which was written. Which was later accepted by the council. And later they brought up churches dedicated to Mary. And all this debate of praying to Mary was done without scriptural backing o. But based on different assumptions. All this started because of misunderstanding of what Iraneaus said about Mary in the 2nd century. |
castro316:Of course I beleive God works wonders. No doubt about that. Its this particular story I don't believe. |
Even though its good to do good. I don't believe the story. Even just by looking at the way you narrated the story in what you called your "friends own words". Nobody talks like that with word of mouth. Except written for a blog or something. That reason alone gave you away. |
Gejpresident:I won't be surprised if your own prayer works for you. |
Papist:Seems, you don't know the history of the church very well. Let me summarise: There was a massive persecution. Christians were dispersed into so many nations as a result. Later Constantine comes and stops the killings of Christians. He establishes Christianity as the major religion in Rome. Now Rome is a gentile nation. Known for its practices of idolatry and worldliness. Many Christians as a result troop into Rome because there they found peace. But still some remained in other nations. Then something happens. Constantine starts to give decress and laws for how Christianity should be practiced. There was a struggle at first but as time went by some of this genti Practice's were accepted and mixed together with Christianity. Then came all forms of bishops and dogmas. Now later on, someone in a particular council (I think they called it second council order or something) ..comes up with a suggestion of praying to Mary as a result of just one scripture he read. Years after it was established by the Pope as an accepted doctrine. Meanwhile all this is happening, those Christians in other nations are still living in the commands of the early apostles and are not affected by the teachings of Rome. They go about techomg the Word, God still confirming it with signs and wonders and then God raises up some people who will go forth and shine the light of the glorious gospel as given originally by Jesus and the apostles which came revelation by revelation until what we call full gospel movement came about.... A revival broke out as a result (Azusa street) were the whole town was brought to the knowledge of God and the ways of the early apostles. Meanwhile all this is happening there is no praying to Mary going on and all those other practice's. But at the other side, because most people have been brought up with the ways of the Romans and have mixed it with Christianity, even when they saw the truth, they could not accept it. So as we have it then we have it now. There are always going to be Pharisees who try to establish their own doctrines and their own way of righteousness. |
Papist:Hebrews 7:25: Therefore He (Jesus) is able also to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. Not Mary. |
Papist:Yep! The apostles and their disciples were Christians. |
krattoss:Read it again. |
Gejpresident:Can you read at all ![]() And besides, all this type of prayers don't work. |
#Does God exist? Unlike any other revelation of God, Jesus Christ is the clearest, most specific picture of God revealing himself to us. Why Jesus? Look throughout the major world religions and you'll find that Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius and Moses all identified themselves as teachers or prophets. None of them ever claimed to be equal to God. Surprisingly, Jesus did. That is what sets Jesus apart from all the others. He said God exists and you're looking at him. Though he talked about his Father in heaven, it was not from the position of separation, but of very close union, unique to all humankind. Jesus said that anyone who had seen Him had seen the Father, anyone who believed in him, believed in the Father. He said, "I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." He claimed attributes belonging only to God: to be able to forgive people of their sin, free them from habits of sin, give people a more abundant life and give them eternal life in heaven. Unlike other teachers who focused people on their words, Jesus pointed people to himself. He did not say, "follow my words and you will find truth." He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me." What proof did Jesus give for claiming to be divine? He did what people can't do. Jesus performed miracles. He healed people...blind, crippled, deaf, even raised a couple of people from the dead. He had power over objects...created food out of thin air, enough to feed crowds of several thousand people. He performed miracles over nature...walked on top of a lake, commanding a raging storm to stop for some friends. People everywhere followed Jesus, because he constantly met their needs, doing the miraculous. He said if you do not want to believe what I'm telling you, you should at least believe in me based on the miracles you're seeing. Jesus Christ showed God to be gentle, loving, aware of our self-centeredness and shortcomings, yet deeply wanting a relationship with us. Jesus revealed that although God views us as sinners, worthy of his punishment, his love for us ruled and God came up with a different plan. God himself took on the form of man and accepted the punishment for our sin on our behalf. Sounds ludicrous? Perhaps, but many loving fathers would gladly trade places with their child in a cancer ward if they could. The Bible says that the reason we would love God is because he first loved us. Jesus died in our place so we could be forgiven. Of all the religions known to humanity, only through Jesus will you see God reaching toward humanity, providing a way for us to have a relationship with him. Jesus proves a divine heart of love, meeting our needs, drawing us to himself. Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, he offers us a new life today. We can be forgiven, fully accepted by God and genuinely loved by God. He says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you." This is God, in action. God does not force us to believe in him, though he could. Instead, he has provided sufficient proof of his existence for us to willingly respond to him. The earth's perfect distance from the sun, the unique chemical properties of water, the human brain, DNA, the number of people who attest to knowing God, the gnawing in our hearts and minds to determine if God is there, the willingness for God to be known through Jesus Christ. |
#Does God exist? The DNA code informs, programs a cell's behavior. All instruction, all teaching, all training comes with intent. Someone who writes an instruction manual does so with purpose. Did you know that in every cell of our bodies there exists a very detailed instruction code, much like a miniature computer program? As you may know, a computer program is made up of ones and zeros, like this: 110010101011000. The way they are arranged tell the computer program what to do. The DNA code in each of our cells is very similar. It's made up of four chemicals that scientists abbreviate as A, T, G, and C. These are arranged in the human cell like this: CGTGTGACTCGCTCCTGAT and so on. There are three billion of these letters in every human cell!! Well, just like you can program your phone to beep for specific reasons, DNA instructs the cell. DNA is a three-billion-lettered program telling the cell to act in a certain way. It is a full instruction manual. Why is this so amazing? One has to ask....how did this information program wind up in each human cell? These are not just chemicals. These are chemicals that instruct, that code in a very detailed way exactly how the person's body should develop. Natural, biological causes are completely lacking as an explanation when programmed information is involved. You cannot find instruction, precise information like this, without someone intentionally constructing it. |
