Jersey Devil

4/15

The original story of the Jersey Devil, according to Brian Regal of the Center for Skeptical Inquiry, is borne of political intrigue, smear campaigns and sabotaging the name of local politician Daniel Leeds. The legend says that Leeds’ wife gave birth to a demon-like child “with horse-like head and bat-like wings.” She cried, “Oh, let this one be a devil!” Immediately after its birth, it flew out of the Leeds’ home and, according to many modern sightings, continues to terrorize those it encounters.

Kushtaka

3/15

The folklore of the Kushtaka, which translates to “land otter people,” has its roots in the indigenous people of Alaska. The tricksters, according to EsoterX, “spend a lot of [their] time trying to lure unsuspecting humans away from their homes in order to turn them into more Kushtaka.” But don’t worry. If they’re not interested in turning you, they’ll just viciously rip you apart instead. Maybe we’ll skip the otter habitat next time we visit the zoo.

Hopkinsville Goblins

2/15

What is that deer looking at? And what is that eerie light in the background? If you believe the legend, you’re looking at a sighting of creatures in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, that are of another world. The original sighting occurred in 1955, when Lucky Sutton and Billy Ray Taylor saw a UFO land and even shot at some creatures that emerged. “No sign of the creatures was ever found,” says Brian Dunning of the Skeptoid podcast, “but one account states that some luminous green glow was discovered near a fence, and was gone by the next day.”

Michigan Dogman

1/15

Many folks allegedly have encountered the Dogman of Michigan, and they’ve offered consistent reports of what it looks like: bigger and taller than any human being, covered in fur and alternating between walking on two and four legs. The earliest reported sighting occurred in 1961, with photographic evidence to boot. Kind of makes those “beware of dog” signs seem quaint, doesn’t it?

I put it to you that the underlying reason why most Christians ( and I emphasise the word most ) do not want to sin is their fear of HELL FIRE.

True. But it still didn't stop majority of them from committing sin. And most of them are waiting for deathbed repentance. Which will eventually shock them at the other end.

My experience is mostly based on my membership of the deeperlife , rccg and apostolic faith churches.
They are not perfect are they? That was why the apostle John constantly talked on this issue of fear. Especially in the scripture I gave. There are always going to be people that will have that fear. But there are still those out there who who do not entertain such fearful attitude.

I mean, why should you even be fearful when you understand that you are righteous?. But its mostly those who try to achieve it through their religious practices that are fearful.

From experience , most so called ' genuine' christians are the most fearful when it comes to topics such as hell fire cheesy
You are the one that thinks they were genuine or they thought they were genuine. There is a whole lot of mess in the christianity these days, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

When someone goes about preaching hell to convert people, why won't they be fearful.

That's the opposite of what Jesus or the apostles did.
Christianity Etc › Re: Religious People Are Driven By Fear by Jeromejnr(m): 11:17am On Sep 01, 2015
Yes religious People are driven by fear.

But genuine Christians are driven by love and relationship. cool

1Jn 4:"17By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 19We love, because He first loved us.…"

OLAADEGBU:
Are you saying Genesis 1:31 is not Scripture?

When did disease enter the earth?

Ezekiel did not tell you that, it is a figment of your own imagination.

That idea was concocted by the devil who will have us believe that he and God evolved out of the primeval waters which had been the environment of his first consciousness when God created him. This is the suggested as you are also referring us back to Genesis 1 but also in all the pagan theories of creation such as Sumeria and Egypt to mention a few. Satan's corrupted wisdom devised this primeval system of pantheistic evolutionism and this is what he is using to deceive the world since Eve.

If you are saying that sin, sickness and death entered the earth before Adam then you are contradicting the Scriptures which says:

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" (Romans 5:12).

The above scripture proves that there was no death before sin entered the world through Adam. God's finished work was "very good" and didn't contain any dead bones of diseased men. It was after Adam sinned that God brought the curse of decay and death upon Adam and the earth.
Don't worry about it.

Funny christians.

Abeg, I'm tired of these exchanges.

Truth is meeting Jesus whose historical existence has not even been supported by any historical facts.

Keep on with your beliefs and make yourself feel better.

Does God give and take away?
Yes. God gives and takes away.
Full stop.
You are the only one in the world who doesn't know that Jesus existed and His historical records prove so. Even brilliant atheists know that.

The question now is do they believe He is God.

But anyway. This talk is pointless.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Earth Is Not 6000 Years Old. by Jeromejnr(m): 9:33pm On Aug 31, 2015
OLAADEGBU:
Take disease for instance. Fossil remains of animals are said to be millions years old show evidence of cancer, arthritis, brain tumours etc. If you are saying that such diseases existed millions of years before sin how do you explain the Scriptures that says after God had finished His creation said it is very good Genesis 1:31? That means you are implying God called those diseases "very good" and this does not fit in with the Bible and in fact impugns on the character of God.
So what you still said is not from scriptures but from the same science we are talking about.

But anyway:

Firstly, you need to know that disease does not come from God but the devil. Acts 10:38

Secondly, Lucifer was a ruler in the old world. And in the book of Ezekiel it talks about how he destroyed and weaken the nations. So yes disease would have been a part of the destruction. Ezk 28:11-19

Thirdly, there was a flood at that time to wipe out everything on the earth. And God began the process of recreation. And everything He created was good. The fossils of the animals/beings of that time were still in the ground and left buried. They had nothing to do with the recreation.

That was why Peter said:

"...For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the land was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water... (2 Peter 3:5-6).

And if you have a good bible, if you check, you will see this scripture references back to Gen 1.

So Satan sinned first. And he had all the crazy stuffs with him. but he couldn't give any to Adam. Because God had given the authority of the earth to him and the devil had nothing against him. So sickness did not just start from man. The devil did not just get his power after man fell.

Lol.
And u have seen and understood the basic light which your fellow christians have not understood.

I applaud you.
Basic light is meeting Jesus Mr. Man. All Christians have understood that.

Then moving on from there:

"And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" Jesus answered them, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.…" cool

Lol. So you're the one who has seen the light?
Show me the wrong translations na.

U tell me it is the wrong translation. And then tell me that the original bible didn't say that God created evil.
The passages I gave u in I Samuel and Deuteronomy never mentioned anything about God creating evil. So you're actually talking about something else.

I've shown you two passages apart from that in Job that shows that God gives and takes away.

I've shown you several analyses from several other men of God showing that God gives and takes away.

And u still decide to hold onto ur perceived truth.

Well, that is a characteristic of Christians. They always hold onto whatever they are comfortable with even in the face of evidence to the contrary.

They always had d belief that the earth was flat. But that belief was forcefully wrenched from them by explorers.

They always had the belief that the earth was the center of the universe. But that belief was forcefully wrenched from them by scientists.
You've not even seen the basic light or understood it, it's the advanced one you want to understand.

You're the only one struggling with the issue. Let the ignorant remain ignorant.

Corgito Ergo Sum.

The truth is the truth wether you like it or not. You are already bent on finding faults that's why you close your eyes to the facts that abound.

Nothing you are saying is new. Majority of the Church has settled the case long ago. Though there are still sects yet to see the light.

Christianity Etc › Re: The Earth Is Not 6000 Years Old. by Jeromejnr(m): 8:25pm On Aug 31, 2015
OLAADEGBU:
The belief in billions of years for the age of the earth does not come from Scriptures, it comes from the faulty methods that atheist evolutionists use in dating the earth. If you superimpose these ideas into God's Word you are adding a concept from outside of the Scriptures and thereby put man's faulty ideas in authority over God's infallible Words.
Well, I really don't have time to go into all the nitty gritty of this topic. Its not really necessary anyway. As far as one is saved, that's what matters most.

isnt it funny how flexible the bible is? you can twist it as you like! if you want to prove that jesus is God, jesus is not God, there is one God, there are three gods, you shouldnt judge, you could judge, you can lie, you cannot lie and so on, by God's grace you can prove all that with the bible successfully. why is this so? because different men wrote it with different ideologies claiming to be "inspired by God" viz "holy spirit" the bible says you shouldnt judge in mattew7:1 and yet again you successfully proved that you can judge by giving 1corithians2:15 isnt this a contradiction? funny religion that likes codemning others whereas all they follow is CONJECTURE as the quran described it!

The opinion you're expressing is also ur personal opinion or that of your sect. The same way the links I gave you are expressing their opinions.

You've quoted Ezekiel for me. Well done. But what about the following quotations:

1 Samuel 2:6-7: The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up. The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and he exalts.

Deuteronomy 32:39: See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.

Or is it only Ezekiel that is the word of God?
You see why I said it will be tough for you to understand. You are doing what some of those sects did in the past.

Those scriptures you quoted have already been shown time and again that they were mistranslated. How?

When translation was done from the Hebrew to the English of that of King James the were some Tenses and verbs that were not available in the English to express some words like "to permit". So translators just picked out a suitable word to be used.

Seasoned Hebrew scholars have said concerning scriptures like the one you gave that the scripture implied that God did not create evil but the scripture was in a permissive sense. I.e God permits evil. There is a difference Mr. man.

You know you are a game addict when you can't just wait to get your hands on the Occulus rift and the upcoming Tomb raider game. cool
