Did you all forget the men in Nigeria soccer? One of them is 'Henry Nwosu'
A gifted midfielder, Nwosu was the youngest member of Nigeria's victorious 1980 African Nations Cup squad, and scored the only goal for Nigeria at the 1980 Olympics. He also played in the 1982, 1984 and 1988 tournaments, finishing runners up in the latter two, with his last game for Nigeria coming in 1991. |

jalabi: Hi everybody, long-term lurker, first-time poster
I went to send some money to my people in Nigeria and on the counter was this flyer from MyNigeriaMobile. I thought the idea was pretty good, and since my brother just travelled home to visit, I decided to give it a try. To play it safe, I signed up using my PayPal account and used my Google Voice number as my telephone number. Worst comes to worst if it turned out to be fishy, my bank details and real local number would be OK.
I signed up for the one-month one-way service, checked my email and got a letter from Customer Service. But since there was no PIN number indicated, I called their Customer Service line and was connected quickly. When I heard the voice on the other end speak to me in a strong Indian accent I could only smile. These Indianas are everywhere!
Within 15 minutes, all my problems were sorted out, she gave me my local number that I would be calling to reach my people in Nigeria. It's a weekend so they there will not be able to collect the handset, but my brother told me that he would be doing it first thing Monday morning. These guys have branches all over Nigeria (Ibadan, Calabar, Benin City, Aba, Lagos, Enugu, Kano, even Waffi). I will report back here on Monday with the results of my brother's getting the handset and my first call to him.
So far, so good. It looks like a legit operation and it is definitely a good idea. No more updates? Did this work for you? |

Dosu Ade: Credit to spyder880, Am Alone, brabus and everyone who has been a part of this wonderful thread. May the Lord grant you all the grace and resources that you require to complete these great edifice that you are all building (amen).
I would like to be enlightened on what I require to take my own project to the lintel, there is a plan and an existing foundation on the plot for three bedroom duplex and my architec carved out a plan based on this plan though instead of duplex am build a bungalow and from the plan the existing foundation will be an advantage as it was meant to carry another floor. I only need a new wall for the living room toilet which will be the the only alteration on the foundation.
To erect the blocks to the lintel I have these list below, please enlighten if this list need any modification.
Blocks (of which I have 1500) Sharp sand (a ton) Cement ( a ton) Labour
This is in ibadan and am looking to start asap, so experts your advice your advice will be highly appreciated. For a 3 bedroom Duplex measuring apprx 40ft X 40ft, this may help: Raising to linte level estimate (200 x 9) - (20 per window x 8 windows approximately) - (10 per door x 8 doors approximately) = 1560 blocks (N226,000) You can do half of this number for 9" for the outside walls and the remaining half 6'' for the inside rooms partitions. For every 60 blocks, you will need 1 bag of cement. This implies that you will need 26 bags (N48,100) to set the blocks. Try getting 20 tons (N46,000) of sharp sand because you will still need it for your decking as well. Labor: In Lagos, you will need N4000 to set 100 blocks. So doing the maths, you will need about N62,400 to pay for labor for setting the blocks. Disclaimer: These are Lagos prices. May be lesser or higher in Ibadan |

I Just saw this on the website of Nigeria Embassy Washington DC: Announcements 04/05/2011: EXTENSION OF VALIDITY OF MRP PASSPORT EXTENSION OF VALIDITY OF MRP PASSPORT PUBLIC NOTICE EXTENSION OF VALIDITY OF MRP PASSPORT The general public and Nigerians in particular are hereby notified that the federal government of Nigeria has reviewed the exercise of issuance of the E-passport, and in view of the challenges with meeting its set target, has further extended the validity of the old Machine Readable Passport (MRP) from the earlier date of 30th April 2011 till further notice. 2. With this development, holders of the MRP Passports who wish to renew the validity of the passport could do so. However, they are encouraged to obtain the E-Passport as soon as possible as the E-passport will eventually become the only officially recognized travel document in Nigeria. 3. By virtue of the extension of the validity of the MRP passport, holders of such passports will continue to receive recognition from host and foreign authorities. http://www.nigeriaembassyusa.org/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=12&cntnt01origid=15&cntnt01detailtemplate=nigeriadet&cntnt01returnid=88 |

Princek12: A citizen of Nigeria can technically enter Nigeria even without a passport, as long as citizenship can be presumably proved upon entry. With that being said, having an expired passport is facial proof of citizenship, which entitles the passport holder to enter his country of citizenship. However, other countries will not allow you to use the passport to enter their country, even if the expired passport has a valid visa. Very factual! Thanks! |

caseymoney: @Bluehat, Below is the material cost for a fence up to four(4) coaches.
1. 1530 of 6" or 9" blocks (plus 5% = 76 extra block) = 1606 2. 20 tonnes Sharp sand i.e two trip. 3. 10 tonnes of Gravel i.e Double 4. For a simple fence work, 60- blocks to 1 bag of cement. That means you would need approx 35-40 bags of cement. This include foundation work and the concrete serves as reinforcement. 6. You may double the blocks to serve as pillars (consider buying additional blocks for the pillars) or use iron rod for pillars. If your using Iron rod you would need 70 length of 12mm plus binding wires and rings 5. Labour - If you are building in Lagos, consult Am Alone for labour cost and if building in the East (Enugu) consult spyder880.
I can't give you a cost of the material listed above at this time because, I'm not based in Nigeria. Ask for the cost of the material listed above in your environment and that would give you a rough total estimate. Your estimate is right. I think 1300 blocks will do. If the land is in a water logged area, he will need 12mm iron rods (maybe 0.5 tons) for the raft foundation of the fence. 1. 1530 1300 of 6" or 9" blocks (plus 5% = 76 extra block) = 1606 ---- (Apprx. 1300 of 9" x N150 = N195,000)2. 20 tonnes Sharp sand i.e two trip. ----- (20 tonnes = N48,000)3. 10 tonnes of Gravel i.e Double --- (10 tonnes = N45,000) - usually better to buy 30 tonnes for N120,0004. For a simple fence work, 60- blocks to 1 bag of cement. That means you would need approx 35-40 bags of cement. This include foundation work and the concrete serves as reinforcement. ---- ( 30 bags of cement x N1900 = N57000)6. You may double the blocks to serve as pillars (consider buying additional blocks for the pillars) or use iron rod for pillars. If your using Iron rod you would need 70 length of 12mm plus binding wires and rings ---- ( 70 length x N1200 = N84,000)5. Labour - If you are building in Lagos, consult Am Alone for labour cost and if building in the East (Enugu) consult spyder880. --- (Digging of the fence foundation (maybe N20,000, Blinding with concrete =N15000, Laying of blocks=N52000 (It will cost N4000 to lay 100 blocks i.e. N2500 for bricklayer and N1500 for labor per every 100 blocks laid).Hope this helps. |

Can someone still enter Nigeria with the old Nigerian passport when it is not expired? My friend just asked me this question and I do not have an honest answer. He intend to come to Nigeria and then get the new epassport in Nigeria. He still has the old passport that has not expired and not the epassport. |
