TravelWhat Makes Nicon Noga Expensive? by jerryben12(op): 9:28pm On Jun 23, 2011
I was looking at hotel rates in Nigeria and noticed that Nicon Noga Hilton hotel in Abuja is over priced.  The same class of hilton hotel in other parts of the world in most cases are 60% cheaper than Nicon Noga Hilton. Why is this the case? I began to think that electricity is the main problem (cost of diesel to run generators) but then realized that the location of Nicon Noga Hilton hotel in Abuja is a rich neigborhood with little or no power outages.

@jerryben12, thanks for your contribution. what do you think about the sanitary wares. Do you think it worth buying it in the states, please advice.
@ Am Alone, thanks for your contribution. Let me know how much the marble would cost and give me the name of the toilet ware you bought so I can insist on that quality. Im not visiting soon, but my wife would and we need the house completed before she arrives. Send the prices privately to my email. I appreciate you.
I only bought the tiles from the States and the shipping was free because my humble and God sent shipper used the tiles to fill the blank spaces in the container he was shipping to Lagos. I did not buy the sanitary wares from the States. If you have free shipping, you may buy everything from the States/Canada or wherever you are. With that, you rest assured of 'quality' and 'savings' if those are your watch words.

.

It seems nobody here got an idea of my request on my previous post. Anyways, the kitchen picture Am alone posted tells me all. You guys use slab instead of countertops. Could somebody tell me which is cost effective and long lasting i.e countertops or slab? Am Alone, I know you would be getting sanitary wares for your house and floor tiles. Could you give me a price range for good sanitary wares and floor tiles. I'm at the finishing stage and don't want this guy home to rip me off. Precisely, you guys should not ingore my question, I have been a major player in this thread. Thanking y'all in anticipation as I look forward to hearing from you.
It will be better and cheaper if you have container going to Lagos. I bought tiles from the US and used them to fill in the blank spaces in one of the containers my humble shipper shipped sometime back. I spent a little shy of $1100 to purchase ceramic tiles and the tiles were enough to cover everywhere in a 3 bedroom house. Like I said, it will only be justified cost wise if you have a container going to Nigeria.

Everybody falls into temptation: Rich, Poor etc. The rich gets busted because the elements they associate with are brain washed by rivals. In few cases these elemenets are gold diggers that want to take advantage of situations.

FoodRe: Is Rice, The Real African Culture? Africans Seems To Love Rice by jerryben12: 2:34pm On Jun 23, 2011
Donlittle:
I came to the conclusion, after my little research, that without rice, the life of an AfricAN, cant be sweet
If he doesnt have rice for a week or two, u will knw sumthing is wrong with this man
if u want to punish an africaN, dnt give him rice for month, and he will be sick
IS RICE, africans culture in general? or we just seems to like rice?
even an average poor man, seems to have at least one bag of ric, for christmas every year
AFRICANS EQUALS TO RICE
I disagree! It all depends on your culture. Taking Nigeria as a case study, a typical Hausa man will have rice in almost all his meals. The Ibo man can go for months without rice. He may get it on festive days. Eba is right there for him daily. The Yoruba man is similar to the Ibo man in the choice of rice for festivity. Amala and pounded yam is the daily call for a Yoruba man.

Can anyone tell me where I can get cement for #1750?
Because I want to start plastering my house o

Maybe we should buy one trailer from Dangote direct and then share. . Who else will be interested? We may get it around N1600 or less going that route. Thoughts??

How many bags of cement can we get in one trailer??
cos i am intrested tooooo.
I think there are 600 bags in a trailer. From the various postings I have come across on NL, it will be cheaper:

I am starting this thread to help potential tenants in different cities/towns/villages in Nigeria have an idea of the cost of renting apartments/flats/homes. If you are a tenant or landlord, please tell us the location of your house and the current rent.
