YENAGOA – RESIDENT doctors attached to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State last week protested over unpaid four months salaries owed them by the Federal Government, threatening to withdraw medical services to patients on November 15. The protesting doctors, under the Association of Resident Doctors said though they have met the management of the Federal Medical Centre over the issue, the responses were not encouraging. The aggrieved resident doctors led by their Chairman, Dr. Nonso Okoye, and armed with placards some of which reads “Our Families are hungry”, FG pay our salaries” and “we are hungry, MMM is becoming an option”, called on Nigerians to prevail on the Federal Government to pay up salaries owed them. According to the protesters, they were paid 52 per cent salary from February to May, 2016 and owed September and October. “We want the Federal Government to pay us our monies. We have not withdrawn services. All we are saying is for the government to pay us for work done. “Nigerians should prevail on the Federal Government to pay us. As much as we don’t want to withdraw our services, we have resolved to withdraw the services by 15th of November if nothing is done. “We have met with the management but all they did was pay us a month salary. They told us that the budget available cannot pay salary,” the protesters said. Contacted, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Dennis Alagoa said the blame is not from the management, but added “with Tuesday statement by the President, we are assured that the issue will be resolved soon.” On the alleged threat by the resident doctors to down tools, he said the issue of strike will not make a difference as the matter is on the table of the Federal Government Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/11/hungry-mmm-becoming-option-protesting-doctors-cry/

In an opinion piece that was published on NAIJ.com on November 2, 2016, by a man who claimed to be a Nigerian army soldier had alleged that the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant-General Tukur Yusufu Buratai was ‘exploiting’ Nigerian soldiers. The spokesman of the Nigerian army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, as reacted to the allegation via a Facebook post. The reaction read in part: “The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a deliberate and calculated attempt to drag the name of the Nigerian Army and indeed the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai into disrepute through a fabricated news story based on an imaginary complaint by a fictitious soldier of the Nigerian Army on an online news medium, naij.com, titled “Buratai exploits us, steals our money and throw us away- Nigerian soldiers.” Colonel SK Usman called the mentioned publication a blatant lie, continuing: “It is imperative to unequivocally state that all the contents of that news piece were far from the truth. The Nigerian Army and the Chief of Army Staff take pride in the comfort and general well being of troops wherever they might be. It is therefore very wicked and unimaginable for anyone to allege otherwise. “The Chief of Army Staff since assumption of command on 15th July 2015 has made probity and accountability his hallmark and has left no one in doubt on transparency and accountability and would not tolerate anyone doing otherwise. “In their efforts to smear the Nigerian Army and Lieutenant General Buratai, they failed to take into account that the Nigerian Army does not have hand in the release of funds for payment of allowances and remunerations of troops on Peacekeeping Operations, and as such, the situation they were talking about does not even arise.” Speaking on how payments are made within the Nigerian army, he said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry of Defence through the Defence Headquarters is responsible for foreign operations and troops allowances are paid according to availability of funds and schedule of payment given by the Defence Headquarters. “The last one received has been credited into the respective troops accounts. Therefore, Nigerian Army troops on various peacekeeping and other operations have to the best of our knowledge been paid up to date as released by Ministry of Defence through the Defence Headquarters.” In conclusion, he assured Nigerians of the uprightness of the Nigerian army and its officers, saying: “We want to assure the general public that the Nigerian Army will remain focused and never to be distracted from it’s noble cause of defending and securing the country from all forms of criminality.” https://www.naij.com/1033508-nigerian-army-reacts-allegations-buratai.html?source=index_main cc:lalasticlala, seun, OAM4J, mynd44 |

Noble Igwe is a popular blogger in Nigeria as well as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of 360 Group. He is a rising fashion icon and designer. He is one to show up dressed to the nines at event and can be termed a risk taker when it comes to fashion. On October 23, he made a statement with some short native shorts. He posted two photos of himself in a native outfit that had shorts way above his knees. The look is not a strange one but perhaps because of the length and close fitting nature of the shorts, it rubbed many people the wrong way. They are now calling it the ‘male bum shorts’ His followers made sure to voice their comments. Some questioned his masculinity, some teased about his legs while others stared to question his sexuality. Good day everyone and happy Sunday to you all... Well for the record I am a Christian and a RCCG member.. I want to share a story with you guys. It's a personal experience of one of our pastors that he shared with us one day. According to him, he was a very dull pupil. In fact the dullest in his class. He never came out first, second or third, he was always at the bottom. One fateful day, there was serious noise in the class(those who attended public schools will understand that if a teacher mistakenly leaves a class, there will be serious noise) and suddenly the class was quiet for few seconds(we public school students and even some private schools believed then if something like this happens it means an angel just passed by the class). As this happened and the noise continued, a boy jokinvly said "Angel Don pass". As he (our pastor) heard this he said "Angel, abeg if you pass, remember me oo". That statement according to him marked a new life for him entirely. He began to succeed in class, came out among the best three pupils. In fact it was a new turn for him academically. Today, he is a graduate and doing well for himself. I decided to share this here to encourage everyone that irrespective of your challenge, God can help you. Just try Him and He will never disappoint you. God is real. Some believe in the non existence of God. They believe the world was formed by science, but I can put it to you that science cannot explain everything for you. NB:This story is not fiction God is real Jesus is real The Holy Spirit is real God bless everyone Cc;lalasticlala... Happy Sunday |

Miracles are still happening! Twenty-one-year-old Adora Ugwu is planning to be a soldier. She also wants to secure admission into one of the country’s tertiary institutions. She had put her hands on the plough of her latter dream by writing the last UMTE. But, as she was going for the other one, she died. Two days after the lady wrote the examination, she was heading for her home state of Enugu for the recruitment into the Nigerian Army when the vehicle she was travelling had a head-on collision with a similar minibus. The result: her death and that of 25 others who included four discharged members of batch B National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Twenty of them including Adora reportedly died on the spot in headon collision involving two 15 passengers capacity buses, each, belonging separately to Peace Mass Transit Limited and the Enugu State Transport Company (ENTRACO). The buses had registration number BENUE – XB 504 TKP, ENUGU – XL 812 UWN respectively. The ghastly crash occurred along Enugu- Markudi express road, at Amoka in Udi, Enugu State on June 20th. Immediately after the crash which was promptly reported to the Enugu State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) by its Delta State Sector Commander Lukas Ikpi who met the accident while travelling on the road, the dead including Adora were evacuated to Our Saviour Hospital morgue at 9th mile. But she was not meant to stay among the dead for long. Two days after she had been confined to the mortuary. The parents had wept and mourned, most of them especially the mother was devastated, but the dead must be buried. And this was what Adora’s relative intended doing: bury her two day-old corpse. At the morgue, the attendants were putting in place all the deeds of mortification when suddenly there was a sound; a sneeze, it was. They looked around, then another one! Behold, the body being prepared for claim by the relatives had just sneezed. The dead don’t sneeze, they reasoned. Adora, whose body was being prepared, is not dead after all. When Saturday Mirror asked her what she felt on her first realization of consciousness, she said: “I thought we were all sleeping. When I asked people around where I was, she said they said I had an accident. “I cannot remember anything that happened when I was at the mortuary. When Adora was discovered to be alive, her relative who had come to identify her was immediately called phoned the others from the morgue. Tears turned to felicitation. From the morgue she was later transferred to the Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu where is currently receiving treatment and spoke with Saturday Mirror. Adora, told Saturday Mirror that she hails from Enugu state. She said she attended a secondary school in North-Bank Markudi, Benue State adding that she was in Benue to take her JAMB after which she was travelling down to Enugu for army recruitment when the accident occurred. WARRI —Niger Delta Security Watch Organization, NSWO, has criticised the threat by Northern youths that they would not condone any more attack on the image of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that former President Goodluck Jonathan was called all sorts of names during his tenure and nobody raised eyebrows. President of the group, Dickson Bekederemo, in a statement, said: “We strongly condemn the irrational position taken by Northern youths under the auspices of Northern Youth Leaders Assembly, who threatened not to tolerate any further attack on Buhari's image because he has done so much to put the nation on the path of progress. “From their utterances, it appears they have forgotten that President Buhari is the President of Nigeria and not the president of Northern Nigeria, and so cannot be free from criticism. May we remind them that when President Jonathan was on the seat of power, he was called all sorts of names, ranging from clueless, incompetent and drunken fisherman. “The pace has been set. President Buhari’s case will also not be different, as Nigerians from all walks of life have the right to criticize him." source:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/08/n-delta-group-condemns-northern-youths-threat-buhari/# |
