They have not said anything but I think because they are in different states, you should probably follow the news of what is being reopened in each state and when.

Choi, wahala! Thanks for your message @sesan01.
@jesusbabygirl, hope you're good & what's up with your PPR email? I saw your post that Montreal is a senior sister/brother to Accra VO. sad . This wait is tiring.

I submitted my application from US & it seems most US applications are processed in Montreal. I also figure out that my application is in IP2 stage. @sesan01, seems you also submitted your application from the US. Anything from IRCC?

Hahahaha..me I don't even bother checking my profile again o. My application was in Montreal then looks like it moved to Hamilton. All in, no progress...stuck at "Security not initiated". Are you still in the US?

Nobody seem to talk about Gold as store of value. I have been thinking about purchase of gold to hedge against inflation or currency devaluation. Anybody thinking along this line? Who is into this line of business? How do you kehep the gold against robbery?
Well, gold moves mostly in opposite direction to the economy. So it's a good idea to buy when the economy is doing well and then sell when the economy is doing poorly.

I think Hamilton VO is better. Read a couple of appraisals on canadavisa website. This pandemic would obviously slow things down a bit but once this phase is over, you should be getting your PPR.
Thanks, I hope so ooo

Seriously? That's a new one. Or, could it because of this pandemic issue? I haven't seen a lot of people complain about MVO recently.
They have always been slow, even before the pandemic. Average of 8months. My application will be 8 months tommorow. As per webform, looks like it moved to Hamilton VO - I nor even sabi that one too. Right now, I'm just try to keep calm.

Yes you can do the CPA without an accounting degree (and with or without MS Finance).
Thanks, I will start looking into it immediately I decide what province to settle.

I got letter of non indebtedness from GTB admiralty branch in Lekki and I never took a loan from them plus I don’t have a salary account with them.
I believe it’s how you approach them for it and explain what it’s needed for or maybe not all branches can give the letters
I also got from FBN but my account officer had to get it from the HQ. She said it could only come from them but any branch can request it fro their customers.

I have ACCA so I intend to convert to CPA. Why not Calgary? Lower cost of living, more chilled lifestyle, open spaces etc.

I can live in city centre and not have long commute like from GTA to Toronto downtown. All based on research sha.

At the end of the day, I really don't know for certain where I will end up. I have about a month to decide.

Any ideas for what else to consider?
Do you mind if I ask a question about CPA, etc. I have an undergrad degree in Materials Engr but I worked in Nigeria for 3 years as a Strategy Analyst..Then I came to the US and got an MBA and Master of Finance. Now, I work (less than a year) as a Financial Analyst (my job is like a 50/50 blend of Accounting and FP&A). My question is will I be able to do CPA without an accounting degree? Will my Master of Finance suffice? I am avoiding doing a CPA in the US since I am not sure of staying here and Canada is most likely my final abode. Please advise, thanks.

Tuesday 1 PPR
Today 1 PPR

Info from AVO WhatsApp group
It is like Montreal VO is even worse than Accra VO but it is not popular on here because it is mostly those living in the US that get that VO.

It's so bad out there. They're either sharing Jollof rice among themselves while asking people to wait or shouting at each other and other innocent victims or telling people how they don't have booklets/can't find their applications. It's a scene out there..smh.

I can send the link for Montreal if you PM me.

Lol, Nigerians...even in America where things work, they cant make things work..na wa. Thanks, I sent you a PM.

Talking of passports, mine would soon expire oooo..
I live in Calgary, what is the process to get the naija passport renewed, I am seriously considering using only the Canadian passport when i turn citizen of this great country
Haba, don't forsake the motherland...lol. If you do that, then you have to apply for visa when visiting Nigeria. Just keep renewing your Nigeria visa. Hopefully, the 10-year version gets "to the abroad" Nigerian embassies soon. That way, you will only worry about renewal once in every 10 years.

Montreal takes an average of 8 months to approve applications (unfortunately). APR/MAY AORs are now getting PPR.
Which state are you looking to renew in? Please don't say Atlanta.
The passport offices typically give you the option to expedite the process. Maybe you could explore that.

Thanks for your response. Lol @ "please don't say Atlanta". I heard TERRIBLE stories about Atlanta embassy, so NO. I am looking at New York because I believe that is the only Nigerian embassy here with the option of expediting. Glad to know someone at least knows about the Montreal VO. Do you by chance know if there is a Post AOR group for the Montreal VO?
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 9 by Jesusbabygirl(f): 7:33pm On Jan 22, 2020
Hello house..please I have a question and will appreciate a response from anyone with similar experience or knowledge.
So I am post AOR (Was 5 months yesterday. I am with Montreal, Quebec VO which I am yet to see someone else on this thread say is their VO). Anyways, to my question. My passport has exactly 6 months to expiration (Expires July 23, 2020). Now, to renew it here (currently in the US), I have to make an appointment (which will most likely be in a month's time) and then travel to another state to the embassy, then wait another 4 - 6 weeks to get the new passport. That makes me nervous because what if COPR comes during that time. So, my question is, do they always ask for a new passport automatically once the one submitted has less than 6 months to expiration?

Should we tell him..relax you are just coming grin
Actually, I don't think "he is just coming" applies to people like him who live in midwestern states in the US. When I was going to start this Canada process, I was living in Iowa State and I was doing a daily comparison of temperatures (and REAL FEEL) in Iowa and some places in Canada. Many times, Iowa was colder. The wind in some of these US midwestern states can kill! So, trust me, going from Iowa/Michigan/Wisconsin/Minnesota/Chicago to Canada is at the very worst, just a tad bit colder.

Yas! Fellow Midwesterner, thank you! Please ask here if it won't violate any privacy concern.
Lol. Thanks, I don't think my questions will violate any privacy rules. So my questions are:
1. Did you soft-land?
2a. If yes, what visa category are you on in the US (I am on OPT, which goes till 2022, so since i have a job in the US, I would like to keep working here and looking for a job in Canada and/or writing professional exams that will help me when I get there, so I really need to softland. All the soft-landing stories I have really seen are people on H1B).
2b. If you are on OPT, can you share your soft-landing experience? I am most concerned about documents to show, if I can soft-land on a weekend, How you are handling getting your PR card, etc.

Thanks.
