With the gari, i will link you with people in the village that will make the gari for you in bags. What quantity would you want? You will need to pay a visit yourself. See the measurement, the price, the quantity and consider the transportation. Make sure you have done your own survey where you want to sell. Network with the market woman for better price

But unfortunately i m not that conversant with that area. The little i know is that between January to May, people buy and store in jerrycans.

AgricultureRe: I,have Idea Of Preservation Of Fresh Farming Produce by jethro2: 8:35am On Aug 14, 2014
johnsonolajide: @JETHRO2, Yes you are right, electricity power is a major problem in nigeria and some african countries, because farming business without
preservation of farming produce,it just like pure water into basket,i,knew we need preservation of foods in nigeria, with preservation of farming produce,we can crate millions of jobs, anyway no problem without a solution, thank you my friends
Please don't dump the idea. Keep working and innovating on it. Its definitely one of our needs despite that we have a lot going the other way. My believe us that it will still be recognized. You may also search for private investors who can possibly fund the project. Keep hope alive

FarmTech: ..
Thank u very much. Just trying to come up with profit calculatn.
Please calculate with the lowest figure even after all requirement has been met.
There are lot of factors involve before harvest.
How do you input the weather conditions?
Farming takes a lot of faith. Putting a seed in the soil and expecting a stalk of maize takes faith and believe
AgricultureRe: Market And Marketing: The Farmers Headache by jethro2(op): 12:51am On Aug 14, 2014
EJaja: @Jethro2 I really would not agree with u on this, I have spoken to expert in maize production and I was told the national average is two tones per hectare. As for the hybrid u need irrigation, gud agronomy practices and fertilizers to be able to achieve 5 tones. Maize prouduction Is more favourable in East and southern africa were u can get as much as 10 tones.
If I may ask what varriety have u being growing before now and what's the yield per hectare?
Hellllooooooooooooooo
I m not the manufacturer, I am not their agent.
I am a farmer that is finding a way to achieve the maximum yield i can get in the farm.
I have not claimed that i use it or that i got that no of tonnes.
All I said is if properly manage that is the expected
Unfortunately i did not follow the instructions
So what is it to agree or not agree with?

adesola_yinka@yahoo.com

The instruction for the preservative is written on it.

Juliana7: @ jethro2, where can get this premier oba 2 variety u mentioned sir. Pls i hope u ve forget chemical to preserve maize i asked from u

This will eventually qualified you to register at National Seed Council as a certified farmer that buys from source.

Note: Maize planting is almost late now. Rain has not been too favorable. Ask the farmers in your area.

A kilo is N200 from IAR&T. If you need the contact send me a mail

obagoriola: Any farmer to please help with this question, how many tones of maize can one get from one hectare
FarmTech: Pls about how many kg of seed maize can one get from a hactare of land?
please check the market and marketing thread to get the answer
AgricultureRe: Market And Marketing: The Farmers Headache by jethro2(op): 3:05pm On Aug 13, 2014
EJaja: @jethro2
Have u actually achieved the 5 - 7 tones quoted above ?
No. This is the first time I planted that variety. I may not also achieve that because I did not follow all the recommended guidelines.
Eg I did not apply fertilizer, the spacing I did not follow, fertilizer recommendation I messed up.
The tonnes I wrote is the expected if well managed
AgricultureRe: Market And Marketing: The Farmers Headache by jethro2(op): 1:11pm On Aug 13, 2014
FarmTech: Pls about how many kg of seed maize can one get from a hactare of land?
The yield per hectare depend on a lot of things which includes but not limited to the variety of seed, the source of seed, the soil type, effective and proper use of fertilizer, seed placement and spacing in the farm etc.
Our local variety yield is between 1 _2 tonnes per hectare with minimal maintenance.
Premier Oba 2 is between 5 - 7 tonnes.
A tonne is 1000kg which is 10 bags of 100kg.
AgricultureRe: Cassava Farmers Let's Meet Here by jethro2: 12:29am On Aug 13, 2014
doctorisa: but why is it difficult for you to convert meter and foot to get plot..when you no a plot is 100feet by 50feet
Real farmers measure farmland in metres, not inches, foot or watever method you decide to adopt. The truth still remains that there is no 15 plots in 1 hectare. Please confirm from real farmers and stop misleading people. Get your facts right
AgricultureRe: Cassava Farmers Let's Meet Here by jethro2: 9:41pm On Aug 12, 2014
amarawa: 1 hect  = 2.47 acre = 10,000 square metres = 100m x 100m
36 inches = 1 yard ; 39 inches = 1 meter
144 inches = 1 square foot= 12inches
multiplied by 12 inches.
I thought then guy was asking how many tons he could get from his 100x50 land.
@ Doctorissa, Please could you kindly point out where plots was mentioned in this post
When did inches and square foot equals plot.
Except 1 square foot equates 1 plot

fm7070: Please, is this TME 419 cassave breed good for making garri.
just thinking that in case no market for the cassave, can it be used for other by-products?
TME is not good for garri. It has higher starch content. Your target for TME should be the processing factory.
Use our local factories if you aim is cassava. Please don't just plant because everyone is planting. Be sure of your target market. Do your home work.
AgricultureRe: Cassava Farmers Let's Meet Here by jethro2: 8:37pm On Aug 12, 2014
amarawa: Our meeting was great. Most of us seem to be on the same page so far. I'm sure it's because we are still small. Our active members now should be about 11. We are seriously looking for land. We are also seeking for support from govt and development partners.
God will help us all. Amen.
Wishing you all the best. Please don't put much hope on the government side. If it comes fine, if its not you are still fine. Our government are too much of propaganda and promises. Speaking from experience. We will surely get there. The sky is the beginning. Well done
Jobs/VacanciesSearching For Jobs/creating Jobs by jethro2(op): 8:32pm On Aug 12, 2014
The education system in Nigeria has failed to prepare youth for the challenges that the real world entails. The believe is get the certificate and get the job
But where are the jobs?
The governments job that have been in existence before we were borne has never increased. The same set of people that has been working keeps altering their birth certificates so as to forever remain in office. So the question is " Where are the vacancies"?
Its time to put on the thinking cap.
How long are you going to keep writing test?
When will you stop attending the interviews?
You have the greatness in you. You need a little push. You need to task yourself.
What happens to being an entrepreneur?, what happens to building a business from the scratch?
What happen to getting your hands dirty? And what exactly happen to being your own boss?
Thousands of graduates are churned out year in and year out. 20% eventually find their way into the labour force, the remaining 80% are left to wander in the so called wilderness.
Test upon test are written, interviews upon interviews, every nook and cranny of Lagos state are combed in search of the non existing job. Scamming becomes a lucrative job
A lot happens in the process of searching for job, life are lost, dignity are traded, integrity are destroyed all in the bid to keep body and soul.
Yet nothing is forthcoming.
Its high time we look inward, check what special skills we have, find out a vacuum we can fill within our environment, be willing to get our hands dirty provided we have a set goal, a target to met.
The companies, organizations that we are desperately seeking was created due to someone's idea and effort.
Investors are trooping to Nigeria on a daily basis. I believe there are opportunities for them to keep coming.
You don't have to break the bank, there are lot of people that started from grass to grace
Its time to look inward. You are greater than where you are.
Thinkers rule the world

Where is your location?
AgricultureRe: Cassava Farmers Let's Meet Here by jethro2: 7:35pm On Aug 12, 2014
doctorisa: from a hectare of land you should be able to harvest 25tons and above with proper management if TME419 is planted, there are 15plots in a hectare of land..you can do the calculation of what you will get from that sir..
There is no 15 plots in an hectare of land. That's a lay man terms. An hectare is not up to 15 plot. An hectare is 100m by 100 m in the farm.

AgricultureRe: I,have Idea Of Preservation Of Fresh Farming Produce by jethro2: 3:49pm On Aug 12, 2014
Its a very good project. Power is major problem we are facing around here. We dont even have enough for domestic use.
One can consider the project if there is the market for one product. I ventured into fresh vegetables and I have been seriously battling with the market.
But sincerely is a good prospect
AgricultureRe: I,have Idea Of Preservation Of Fresh Farming Produce by jethro2: 2:59pm On Aug 12, 2014
johnsonolajide: HI My fellow nigerian,s
i,am based in sydney australia.
i,have idea of how to preserve fresh farming produce for up to twelve month shelf life.
because i,notice that most of farming been produce in nigeria always goes waste or rot.
so because of that most farmers loose so much money for their labor.
so i,will like to introduce this idea in the near future to nigeria.
what i,mean by fresh farming preservation? preservation mean to keep farming produce fresh for months even a year,
for example fresh maize or fresh corn can last up to one year,as a shelf life,
preservation available for the following farm produce, fresh pepper/ fresh tomatoes/fresh okra/fresh maize or fresh corn/ all fresh vegetables/ fresh egg/ oranges/ pineapple/ garden egg/ beans/ water melon/ mangoes/ cashew/ mushroom/fresh milk/meat/ chicken etc.anyway most of the farming produce can be preserve for long time without any add of any chemical.but the problem with nigeria is electricity power.because we need constant of electricity power for the preservation to work well.please can my fellow nigerian,s tell me if it,s a good idea to introduce this preservation of farming produce into nigeria,
please i,need your opinion on this matter, thank you very much
Its will be a good idea if it can use other power which is not electricity
