I wish such high level of corruption was discovered during the administration of jonathan, when the likes of yakubu, the former nnpc GMD would steal almost 10m USD and keep it in a least expected slum in a suburb of kaduna and Mr jonathan didn't know, our country would have been better for it today. The level of corruption under Jonathan, now exposed by buhari's government is mind-boggling. You should give kudos to the present administration for unravelling such forgery because it's not today such had been happening in Nigeria at nnpc. Many more will still be discovered. The likes of yakubu are those causing the economic woes Nigeria is facing today. No wonder dollar is scarce everywhere.

i agree with you that the level of corruption during gejs tenure was on a high,but I don't think this present administration aint corrupt either,Corruption spreads like wild fire and I can authoritatively state that there's also huge stealing going on now in this present administration which may only come to the limelight when another party takes over

They loot while they come to the public and tell us "PDP or a particular region is corrupt" so we start seeing ourselves as "you are PDP, corrupt party, I am APC, the saint" Even while those in ruling party are embezzling more than the prev ones, we"ll still keep singing "PDP people should be killed, they are corrupt" because we are programmed to do that so that they steal unnoticed.

Imagine grasscutter, Bachir Lawal, while he's yet to be penalized or face any investigation for N250M IDP funds scam, yesterday coming out to address protesters and also talking about PDP's corruption.
Divide and Rule is their method.

See prev NLC protest for fuel hike, they polarized NLC to make the protest ineffective.
Last Tuface's #IStandWithNigeria protest, they brought another version of their own just to disrupt it.

Nigeria is irredeemably corrupt and doomed.

The worst we had of food prices and other things was late last year. So the government could be correct to point out a slight improvement. Its going to be gradual of course. The main problem is with people who don't want to read such news. They'd rather have the low class Nigerians die of starvation as long as they are able to point their filthy fingers at the government and say 'look we told you Baba is a failure, APC has brought hardship'.

The country’s external reserves have hit an 11-year low of $24.21bn, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The development means a limited amount of dollars will be available at the official interbank spot market, fuelling concerns over another round of depreciation of the naira.

The country’s external reserves had depleted to a then record-low of $24.8bn about two weeks ago.



The foreign exchange reserves fell by $600m in two weeks before shedding $1bn in four weeks, the CBN statistics showed.

Specifically, the reserves fell from $25.8bn on August 16 to $24.8bn on September 16. It decreased by $600m from the $25.4bn recorded on August 31 to $24.8bn on September 16, the current CBN data revealed.

The spate of decline in the external reserves follows the CBN’s almost daily interventions at the interbank/official foreign exchange market in recent weeks, as chronic dollar shortage continues to weigh on the economy.

In its efforts to defend the naira and prevent it from falling further at the official interbank market, the central bank has been selling dollars there more frequently.

The naira had fallen to an all-time low of 365.25 to the dollar at the interbank market on August 18 before making a gradual recovery.

On Friday, the local currency closed at 305 against the greenback at the official market, while closing at 460 to the dollar at the parallel market on the same day.

The CBN had on June 20 lifted its 16-month-old currency controls and auctioned about $4bn on the spot and futures markets to clear a backlog of dollar demand and help boost interbank market trading.

The global plunge in oil prices caused the reserves to be depleting very fast. The development had forced the CBN to introduce foreign exchange controls, which were abandoned in June.
