bassdow: Generally, Growatt is a budget brand. You get what you pay for. If you see the ones that wouldn't packUp within a few years, most still wouldn't buy due to cost.
TransformerLess inverters generally can't last as much as Transformer based inverters BUT even among them, quality matters.
Now add the fact a lot of people abuse their inverters.
What I do for most clients when buying or recommending inverters for them is: if they need 2Kva, I recommend at least 3.5kva or 4.2kva
That way, chances of them ever reaching 40% load would be very far. How do you mean "40% load"? |

AyobamiOluwole: I will recommend you buy from trusted sellers here who will give you warranty and also build system using correct batteries like: Dam5reey MrReed Valto
But if you fear them, or they are far away from you, then find any certified Felicity Solar shop to buy a battery with warranty card. Mind you, Felicity batteries are ok but I’d rate them tier 2.
As for the battery size, a ~4Kwh and above battery will be ok especially if your freezer is not a Solar freezer and will also run 24/7. What brands of batteries would you rate tier 1? |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jFrankNorfleet: 7:00pm On Jul 08 |
ebrymDIY: Hi
I made a quick run based on what you post. Details below: 1. You daily energy consumption is around 20KWH assuming you run all appliances for 12hours with 3days autonomy. This make total battery storage bank higher and oversized. 2. I also did a quick run saving should you use generator and daily fuel purchase of 15000 for like 6-8hrs also assuming you have s 5kva generator to run these thing. see image 2. 3. Image 3 shows the full energy audit result based on your post and benchmark assumptions. 3. From the quote, there are still questions around the cable sizing which are not clear. This is soley for safety reason. Further more, you can view the full detail report with your exact quote below.https://www.solarspec.com.ng/p/95144d66709a44248fa572a93e62e358bcfbf3f28856331d
Recommendations: I think you should look at the cost savings over a period of time. The major problems of going solar or off-grid is the initial capital. In most cases, the system pays for itself over a short period of time compared to the lower cost enjoyed from running a generator and all other future running cost that comes with owning a generator set.
Lastly, everything i said here are based on assumptions, you might want to request for a proper energy audit from your installer and do not leave anything. Thanks brother. You really went to town on this one for my sake. Once again thank you. What sizes of wires would you recommend? |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jFrankNorfleet: 8:15am On Jul 07 |
abuzz33: If you have that kind of grid power why do you need solar panels? I would take the 1m you are spending on panels, pv breakers and wiring and increase your battery capacity to 15-20kwh and charge your battery from the grid overnight when your biz is closed. I was told that my battery of 5.5kwh*2 would last only 6 hours at full load when both sun and light are not available. If that's true, which is yet to be established, it means 15kwh should last roughly 9hours which wouldn't be enough to get me off grid from 9am to 9pm |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jFrankNorfleet: 7:09pm On Jul 06 |
justasitis: For future growth and expansion in your business, I will suggest you try to go for a 15kwh/16kwh LiFepo4 battery, an 8kva hybrid inverter and increase your solar panels to either 615wx12 or 650wx10. I don't think I'd ever need more than 6kv inverter as the shop has limited space and cannot take any more games although I'd be interested to know what other benefits a higher kV inverter would do for me asides adding more loads I do see suggestions about adding more panels and batteries |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jFrankNorfleet: 7:07pm On Jul 06 |
AyobamiOluwole: You would have made life easier had you stated your total load at a go (straight figure like 4.2Kwh, 5kwh etc.). From there we’ll do the maths for efficiency for you. Forgive my ignorance I don't know how to do that |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jFrankNorfleet: 6:19pm On Jul 06 |
Gshems: Why not close eye buy a single 15kw battery the price difference isn't that plenty for the extra 5kw. You go need buy more panels later to charge more efficiently Okay, so 15KWH? Also how many panels would you suggest? Also what about the safety devices? Wiring? Are they okay or should I change them? |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jFrankNorfleet: 6:17pm On Jul 06 |
dacool1: You need to share the time you open for the day and close for the day. Your battery might not be sufficient. As your battery back up after sundown is less than 4hrs. Your panels might not be sufficient too.
As for efficiency, if you can swap your TVs to more energy efficient ones, you will get better result I open 9am everyday except Thursdays. We usually close around 11PM to 12AM although it's very rare for me to close without power supply as power usually comes between 7-9pm then stays till the next day around 6am What do you suggest I do? Add more panel or more batteries? I do plan to change the LCDs to Led but for budget reasons it would only be done one by one Also what about the safety devices? Wiring? Are they okay or should I change them? |

NSEstudent: The problem is not the inverter but the purity of the AC going into it. The usual way of passing grid to inverter is to first ensure correct range of say 170-240V. This can be done using some of these digital voltage/current limiters. Then pass the grid to an appropriately sized servo AVR before hitting the inverter. Not forgetting to use and appropriately connect SPDs. You can hardly go wrong in this way. What of a strong stabilizer? |

Secondly, you failed to equally include the wattage of the Games themselves. From the little I've checked, ps2s draw around 40w give or take PS3 slim is 75 watts give or take, same with PS3 slim PS4 slim is around 150 watts it also failed to specify the quantity of solar panels 8pcs sir Also except brand names are included, doubt we could do much vetting of the accessories you shared which even don't seem to have enough information to be sure it's for the rated load. what brands would you recommend? meanWhile, shouldn't you try to keep costs low or you sure you would recoup the costs of all these within 2-years from said business? Just wondering. Im here for long haul Couldn't respond yesterday because I thought others would have done so by now. Thanks |
