So i reached out to this young man (at least that is what his display picture depicted) about this generator he advertised.

He advertised the genset for 40k (which in the first place is well below the actual market price judging from the neatness and the possibility that it could be slightly new) to which i offered 30k and he immediately agreed without putting up the usual negotiation resistance. That was a major red flag for me.

Next, i asked for his location and he said Benin. This was contrary to the location he told a friend who recommended him to me as i needed to get the genset for someone. He had told this my friend that the genset is in Kogi state. This was another red flag for me.

Next, i asked about delivery and payment terms and he insisted it is pay before delivery. I immediately knew something was amiss.

Finally, i reached out to my guy who is based in Benin, requesting him to pick up the genset for me. My guy agreed, so i proceeded to inform this gentleman, but he immediately changed tone, saying that his wife suddenly advised him against selling the genset at that price, as. It should be lower.

I said, Ok, so what is the least price you are looking to sell now? Since then, this gentleman has gone AWOL. He had earlier claimed that he can waybill as soon as tomorrow morning once i pay, but he suddenly developed cold feet when i told him that my guy would pick it up same tomorrow morning.

Note that, i am not in anyway saying that this young man is a scammer. No. I believe everyone is entitled to a benefit of doubt unless there is a solid proof of a scam. Hence, i have blocked out his details to protect his identity.

Summarily, my point is, whoever wants to deal/transact with this young man, s/he should do so with his 6th sense at alert. DO NOT PAY UPFRONT WITHOUT SEEING THE GENSET

If a buyer does that to me and they aren't breaking any rules then I'd either have to ignore the message or review my price or defend my price by adding in the "description" what makes it different (read:better) from the other cheaper alternatives

I also sell on jumia and they've never dropped price and balance me ever. even during their so called black Friday sales what they do is ask me through mail if I want to sell some items at high discount then give me a form to fill and send to them but that's by the way. Yes I can't determine seller prices but I should be able to criticize the prices so long I ain't breaking no rules

He's reporting me for breaking what rule exactly? I read from 1-22 in the rules and I can't seem to see the rule I'm breaking. Since the market is free and open it means it's open enough for criticism, it's left for him to tell us why his is so special to command such an amount, something he hadn't done. Lastly many posts like mine exists in most sales thread calling out sellers for exorbitant prices and they're allowed to stand, seller's prices get ridiculed and laughed at a lot and nothing happens. why is this guy's case so different and special? I wonder. I expect this to also get hidden or maybe take it a step further by banning me
