Ladies Connect Initiative is a Non-Governmental Organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission established purposely for the protection of the girls' and women's rights and their overall empowerment based in Abeokuta. In view of the rampaging global pandemic, COVID 19, which has occasioned lockdown. The organization carried out a sensitization program to widows at Abule Ori Iyanrin, Quarry road at Abeokuta, Abeokuta South, ( extension of Owu Kingdom), Ogun State on the April 3rd, 2020 to cater for widows and the children by giving them foodstuffs like rice, tomato puree, salt, noddles, seasoning cube, milk, etc. The gesture was targeted at cushioning the effect of the hard biting lockdown as a result of the COVID- 19 pandemics as pronounced by the government.
They sensitized the widows on personal hygiene and cleanliness and especially in containing the COVID-19 outbreak and also sensitized the women on the need to report any case of sexual violence or assault to the appropriate authority.
Speaking to the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, on the 3rd of April, 2020. The founder and President of the Initiative, Bar. Adebola Tolulope Adeoti urged the government, Ministry of Women Affairs and well-meaning people in the society to assist and support them to see to it that widows and children are empowered during this COVID 19 outbreak and after.
