davide470:Line chart is not the best at all as it only provides you with the average price of the day. If you understand the candle stick very well, you will see it provides you with the opening, closing and the price range within a day. As you know a picture represent a thousand words. each daily or weekly candle in conjunction with the weekly traded volume will give you a good picture of investment sentiment, enabling a good decision making. Regarding which market to trade, broker provides me the platform to trade both the NYSE, NASDAQ and DOW one platform. Actually you cannot rade one without the other. |
badboy:For the main time, Keep a look out for this thread, when I have more than 10 followers, i will open another thread where we will start Fundamental of trading the market (Stock Market 101). this will strictly be used for technical analysis and recomendations |
byzantium:Can you give me a breakdown of the direction of the Naira for the next 12months and sustain it with a valid argument. We all know it will go down, but i need a why from a macro economics and global perspective. just need to know we are chatting to an economist in the making. |
BabyDaddy20:Sometime i wonder if we understand the comments we make and the factors that govern the fluctuation of currency. So you would have prefere a situation whereby Naira remains at (200 Naira to a 1 dollar) whereby it is artificially sustained by borrowing of $1billion dollars every month to increase dollar supply and reduce the pressure in the market? This is a question of supply and Demand, they guy is tranparent and want to stop borrowing unless it is absolutely necessary. As yourself, what have you done to inject dollar into the economy in the last 10 years, what have you exported from Nigeria to the global economy. If you have only been importing cars to show off to your friend then you are one of the problems and Baba stay put. |
debbydee:Both stock and Forex use relatively the same form of technical analysis. Forex is very volatile and the price of currency is affected by too many variables. For a sock, the movement is affected by a few factors you can read although there are always some variable outside your control. I have engaged in both and have decided to settle for stock. How does this differ from the stock in Nigeria, here you buy yourself, no need for a stock broker, you can buy in 10 seconds and sell in less than 10 seconds and your money will be with you in less than 10 seconds. you are fully in control from the corner of your room with an internet access. You only need to know what you are doing. let me know if you want to know more, I intend to set up another thread simply for educational purpose while this is simply for technical analysis and stock recomendations. |

Hi all, Just read the thread here on the foreign exchange rate in Nigerian and think I should contribute. these are my views. Furture of the Naira. - Naira will continue to drop due to the following among others... The price of crude at around 50 dollar a barrel has created a huge shortfall compared to the days of Jonathan of over 100dollar a barrel. Those days are not likely to come back in a long time. 2. The sanction on Iran is about to be lifted, Iran is one of the countries with the largest stock pile of crude in its reserve which has not been fully utilised due to sanctions, this will flood the market with another million barrel per day sending the oil price further to about 35 dollar a barrel. This will put another pressure on the Naira and the Naira will drop further. Now sending money to Nigeria only to buy dollar back in the near future is not a wise business to do. How many times to you want to do that before the British start watching your account for possibe Boko Haram sponsor. Trust me there are better ways, engage US market trading of stocks where it all happens and you can always be ahead of the Naira even when you leave this country. |
Hi All, I have decided to create this thread for like minded individuals, and those who intend to stay ahead of the fluctuating exchange rate in Nigeria. Learn how to trade the US market, invest your money, let your money work for you, and over a reasonable period of time you will become confident and actively trade yourself. Note, this is not a get rich quick thread, it is to identify those who want to sum up the courage to follow the thread and see what the possibilities are , I will explain and show you stock I in, and you will see their performance over time. The plan is to draw more interest, later set up a training session for those who want to invest in the US Market, and I will mentor based on what I know as we go along. Please note, I would encourage better technical analyst as they we go along. Let us discuss and share thoughts, I do not claim to be a professional but know enough to stay afloat. Please post your comments if you find this interesting, I will paste my analysis on this thread and you can follow up on the internet and see if this is real or another bogus get rich quick forum. As he often say.... " the limit we set are the ones we see" Free your mind .....Oluyinka jimoh Thanks, expect your comments |
Hi all, Just stumbled onto this chat room and felt i should contribute to this as it applies to me for me male perspective. I reside in Holland for about 4year " work related" and my family of 4 " wife and two kids" had to move to Nigeria after the first year. Now, things are at a point where my wife wants me back home which i quite understand, but this need to be ironed out quite such that our standard of living is not compromised. In this situation, i work full time and my wife still finding her feet financially. This is an issue that need to be well managed because if i we eventually have to come back to UK due to financial contraint, i do not see this happening again in another 10years to come. By then i will be in my mid - late 40s. One of the main issue at had is possibility of me cheating on my wife or the other way round. This is always the primary issue, and should be addressed critically. Personally, it is harder for a lady to remain in UK alone without a companion, contrary to Lagos where there are family friends to assist in day to day activities. The fact that you are the bread winner in this case makes it a bit difficult for the man as he his likely to mis-interpreter some of your moves which he would have overlooked in normal situation. This does not necessarily mean that you are clean, as it can be difficult '' trust me i have been there" but if you are, then you will have to go home and see him and both agree on a strategy on coming back home or joining you in the UK. In My case, i will be leaving for Nigeria in 1st of DEC for one month, during which i need to iron out the strategy for the following year. Work out what she need to do so that i could leave my job or the saving target we need to reach in order to sustain our living for about 6monhts to one year without a steady income. Now. This is my suggestion If you have the opportunity to travel home, then you need to put some questions to him * You two need to set up a clear plan of what need to be done to effect the move. As he his alone without the kids, he should be able to move easily without contraints i.e if his hands are not tied by the ladies in the bank " i know what they are like " * Agree to set up something he could work on for the next year. poultry of fish farming will be a good idea, if he has not knowledge of how it works, tell him to read the punch news paper and check our the advert for fish farming. It only cost 3000 naira and locatediing Abeokuta. With as little as 100k Naira, he could start somthing. I did it a year ago and ran a pilot for 6 months. * Have this written down and let everyone commit to having this done with deadlines and benchmarks in place. Alternatively tell him to come up with somthing reasonalbe withing your budget. * If you both gradually work on this, then your transistion program would be smooth. * Do not jump and move to Nigeria without a reasonable source of income, i could tell you that i am well paid here, and still feel the presure when i am in lagos as expenses are in the thousands. In short, if your papers are right, go down and see him in person so as to iron this out. This should not be without a visible commitment from his side. Idealy he should be the bread winner but we understand that times are changing. Let us leave pride our of this and set the record straight. |

@Omoba3 What is this thing flying around from you. Seems some of us has missed out. I think the best thing to do is to open a mail account at Hotmail, sent the item to the hotmail account and then publish the username and password on-line for everyone to see. We could then go in at our convenience and mail it to our personal mail box. I think that is a more efficient way of distributing it around. Let me know what you guys think about this idea. If Omoba was a server, he would have broken down by now considering all these messages. We call it Multicasting in IT world and not Unicasting. |
wanaj0:@Wanjo, I fear for you o, i am quite intrested in this OMATEK thing, the MD happen to be my Aunty and it would be great if could throw more light into it so i could find out from her what is happening. |

Hi all, Am sure every one have noticed the slow response of the Cashcraft website these days, and it has relay deprived me of the granularity in information they provide. Having browed onto their web site, i noticed a security alert. It seems they have just implemented SLL (https web security) hence the slow response of their site. Not sure if any of their members are on this thread, but it will be adviseable for them to set up this security measures for their customers who are logging in for personal information and just create an extranet segment for us on their external perimeter ( networt edge). This way we would not be going through the filtering process that is bogging the site down. Please if you work for cashcraft, this little advise would improve performance i do find your site relay valuable. |
Just picked this information up on transcorp. Could someone confirm the authenticity as Tribune can be found to be unreliable sometimes http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20080212056831 |
goldenson:I was of the opinion that this checks were handled by Oceanic bank. I do not seem to understand why called Zenith securities. Could you pls throw more light and will do so before close of business Monday. |
With regards to the Zenith securities "Dangote returned check, I was facing the same problem last week too, But I leant from one of their financial personnel that they are trying to sort out the whole check issue. She said that the place where the checks are kept was a bunch of mess and they were finding it difficult to locate people's check in there, Though I kept calling her all of last week and was very nice to her on the phone and finally on friday, she located my check and said she has instructed them to pay it into my brokage account, So if u still have the same problem, keep calling and play nice to them till they get it done.

Could you confirm whom you called, the stock broker or the registrar. |
blueband:Blueband, Do appreciate your callling all back to focus after a couple of digression, i believe all is for good. As you said, it is monday and we need pass instruction to our broker for the following week. PLEASE !!! let us give room for the Oracle to talk. Technical analysts, could you make sugestion of potential buy and let us all evaluate before the close of weekend, |
No doubt, you guys are a bag of information and do appreciate your effort. Keep up the good work. |
aktopgun:Thanks for that, my brokage firm is Profunds Security www.profundng.com. I have the intention of doing the same thing and have instructed my wife to follow up on this on monday. Could you kindly tell me what the procedure is. Do i walk to oceanic bank in person or do i send a mail or could someone check on my behalf. Kindly throw some light into how he went about it. |
yodiyokun:With due respect to all that might have been offended in this coversation so far. I do second the opinion that the breakage firms feels they are doing us a favour. Irrespective of the number of time we place an order, they are not offering us any service for free and we deserve a little bit for respect in terms of customer service. Personally, i think the brokers have gotten used to the times when people buy and leave their stocks for a couple of weeks or months. they should have come to terms with the fact that some people do this for a living and as long as they are paying for a service, the highest level of competence and service is expected from them. It is about time we start inculcating this culture in our services and see how well we will progress in our business dealings. |
walcolm:Thanks, what if this was a case whereby i made purchases for members of my family. Personaly i would not consider this multiple applications. All the same, thanks for your comments, the second opinion was very helpful |
