PoliticsRe: Wives, Children Stop Military Trucks Conveying Soldiers To Fight Boko Haram by jieta: 6:00am On Aug 11, 2014
nnamdibig: Hundreds of women and children weekend forcefully stopped military trucks from conveying their husbands and fathers to the Boko Haram-seized Gwoza by locking the exit gates of a barracks in Borno State, demanding quality fighting equipment for the soldiers.
Scores of soldiers have been killed by Boko Haram in Borno State in the last few months, and many blame the inferior weapons Nigerian troops are equipped with to fight brutal insurgents.
According to witnesses, after locking the gates, the women and children placed themselves as wedges before the trucks that were to drive out of Giwa Barracks of the 21 armoured brigade Maiduguri.
One woman was quoted as saying, “we don’t want to be made another set of widows, give our husbands modern and better arms, weapons and vehicles or they go nowhere!”
The reaction came after nearly 60 soldiers killed in Gwoza and Damboa- both in Borno State- were given a mass burial at the Maimalari Barracks Maiduguri.
The women and children also reportedly blockaded the roads leading to the barracks with stones and sticks, while some sat in front of the barracks’ gate.
Some soldiers at the barracks said they were in support of the action. One soldier who chose to remain anonymous told newsmen that “we are ever ready to tackle Boko Haram terrorists but our superior officers are not helping us by not giving us the right arms to execute the war. How can I go and face Boko Haram with AK47 that is charged with only three cartridges when the enemy is brandishing modern GPMG, AA, RPG and so on. Most of our soldiers die every day like fowls because of faulty deployment and yet when you complain they only tell you to obey the last order.”
Another soldier said, “we are being pushed to death because we usually run out of ammunition or our weapons would fail us during an operation, while the Boko Haram who came fully kitted with better arms and extra supplies would continue to pick on us like insects.”
According to another: “We are ready to finish Boko Haram in one week because we have the courage to do that if we are given the right arms and ammunition.”

barcanista: you can't read or wat? We are talking of voting strength here you are talking big or small.
The voting strength of SE and SS combined was 14m in 2011, Kano alone was almost 6m. Lagos was 6m. SE (Jonathan's stronghold) was 7m. Edo and Rivers will gv Jonathan a hard test. He may win but not with the margin of 2011. Why am I even responding to you?
abeg go, abeg get out go and live ur mumu and stupid life

barcanista: you are a political naïve. SS and SE votes combined will be neutralised by Kano and one or two core northern states. Go check the voting strength of SE and SS.
i never knew that kano state is bigger than SE and SS

onatisi: something really annoys me ,and that is the fact that nigerians who pride themselves as literates don't understand our political setup. Ppl must understand that whoever wins the pdp presidential ticket will be the next president. So osun state has no effect on that. If gej should clinch that ticket which he is poised to then he is the next president. There is no party right now in nigeria that can wrest the presidential seat from pdp.
and how did i say other wise, GEJ going to osun is a clear way of showing is ambition towards 2015 if i were the president this is exactly what i will do; south and east are for GEJ the sturborn north wount accept him so he pick few state from north and few from west then he's good to go.

PheezyLee: i dnt really know mch bout d political atmosphere @Osun as well... but Mr President has a lot on his plate @d mmt than observing election in a state while d other 35states are living with deir heart in deir mouth..
GEJ is indirectly fighting for him self: just imagine it this way if omisore win's today election GEJ would ve sucessfully remove two state from apc and you know what that means.he's indirectly covering his trail of 2015 election
PoliticsRe: Osun Poll Today, What Is Happening In Your Area? by jieta: 3:28pm On Aug 09, 2014
PheezyLee: I'll really be dissapointed on affirming Mr. President is in Osun State..Must he xhaust his time on frivolities??we all knew he goofed when we had Nyanya blast(he held a political rally@kano &attended Olubadan's centenary celebration)... btw u knew BRF was absent @d APC mega rally 'cos he wz busy battling ebola issh in Lag.
i see d guy more of d President of 9ja to Lag. state Gov
i dont know much about osun politics, bt i believe the presence of GEJ 'll serve as a political motivation to those who want's to vote for pdp.

TravelRe: healthy argument of Kenya vs Nigeria by jieta: 10:22pm On Aug 08, 2014
symbianDON: both countries are great in their own unique ways and both have their fair share of challenges. I have to in kenya (went as far as kisumu from Nairobi by road and mombasa from Nairobi by air). I found kenyans to be nice and accommodating although I still give it to Nigerians in this aspect. kenyans towns and cities are neater than towns and cities here although nigerian cities are arguably more beautiful. nigeria has better roads in terms of the aesthetics but kenyan roads are better paved. social life of course goes to the kenyans (you guys love to party and I can't ever forget the loud music in all those matatus). Nairobi has so many universities! no Nigerian city has up to half the universities. great beautiful universities. I will make more contributions as others comment grin
you are looking for trouble, and i know very soon you will get a cup full of it

your stupidity. Meanwhile, start your fake healing across the street from you with all those blind beggars. I am glad most people in Nigeria don't believe that crap.
