kpakpandoN: Hosea 4:6 reveals that knowledge is an indispensable commodity if one is to become relevant in God's scheme of things. It also tells us that contrary to what some people believe, what is responsible for the destruction of God's people is not the devil; rather, it is their ignorance. This means that the enemy capitalises on what you do not know to plunder you. If you fail to recognise and act on your kingdom rights for instance, the devil will definitely take advantage of you. If you do not recognise that good health is your right, Satan will definitely shove sickness down your throat. The devil loves those who rob themselves of their rights through a false sense of humility, because they are helping him to do his dirty work. If you believe that poverty is part of godliness, or that you do not need to fight or resist the evil plans of the enemy, or that being sick is part of the cross you are to bear in the Christian faith, Satan will definitely celebrate your ignorance. To this end, the devil will do everything to keep such a fellow in the dark concerning the truth. Do you know that there is a difference between stating the facts and knowing the truth? The facts are what can be physically perceived in a given situation. Facts are a product of the natural human senses. Satan tries to control his victims using the prevailing circumstances. Most times, he controls, manipulates and distorts the things we can see. As long as you choose to believe what you can see, you may likely end up as a victim of sight and a prisoner of the devil. This is why 2 Corinthians 5:7 says: "(For we walk by faith, not by sight" On the other hand, the word of God is truth (John 17:17). Facts can easily change; hence it is wrong to base your victory or joy on them. Rather, base it on God's word which is settled in Heaven forever. For instance, when you have prayed for healing and you are standing in faith to receive it, you must be prepared to discountenance the facts that sight brings to you. You must be ready to ignore or resist the pains, discomfort and weakness you can still feel. You must confess the healing and good health which the word of God has promised you. Even if you are yet to experience it. As you keep on insisting on what God's word says, eventually the truth will swallow up the facts.
I really have to say dis ooo, since i started coming to the Religious section of Nairaland, i have been seeing some strange threads by people claiming they don't believe God exists & some even blaspheming against God!!! ... i was stunned!!!! To be honest!! I have never met an Atheist in real life though, most people i have met that were not Christians were either Muslims, Pagans or Hindu etc... but never an Atheist though...
So i was really stunned going through some Atheist posts here on Nairaland!!!! I was like wetin be dis? See blasphemy oo!!!! I was shocked cos i haven't really seen people talk bad about God like this... So i think, dis is a welcome to the religious section.....
just4now: You have good bible quotations to back your point on eternal security. Nevertheless, You stand in a position of a teacher and shall be judged likewise, because many underdeveloped Christians will live by your assertions and this could be detrimental to their salvation. You are not teaching the total counsel of God. Truly, genuine born again Christians can not loose their salvation but those who refuses to gain required knowledge, careless of their way of life and disobey the voice of the Holy Spirit will certainly experience hell before entering Heaven on the day of judgment. You may not believe me but a careful study of the scripture will amaze you on this truth. To assist you, please prayerfully study lsaiah 3:16-26; 4:1-6", "Zephaniah 3:7-12", "1Cor 3:10-(15)17", "Rev 2:14-16", "Rev 20:11-15", "Rev 22:14". l have other references in the bible to prove that you must be careful what you teach others. Please do research on the Nicholatian doctrine which is the same as you taught that the Lord hates. The Lord desires you wash your garment while on earth and make it white in the blood of the Lamb of God. You see, you can't loose your salvation, you are eternally saved but be ready to be purged by fire of hell if you do not follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and holy living. Allow the Lord to purge you while you are here on earth and live a humble and sober life. Apostle Paul talks about your work being burn but you will be saved, only as one passing through fire of hell. Have you ever wondered why hell must give up those in it for judgment day if they were already condemned and why is the judgment base on the only law of Christ. Don't live a carnal Christian life but a spiritual one. You have a choice to hold to your doctrine but you have just been told the truth. I counsel that many should refrain from being teachers because they shall be judged severely. God bless.
My brother you seem not to understand me at all..... i am not encouraging Christians to live in sin, no, not at all!!!! All i am saying is dat our Salvation is by God's Grace and not by our works. But its still necessary for Believers to live right and Holy to experience God's blessings and inheritance here on earth. I am not encouraging anyone to live in sin, all am saying is dat since the Holy Spirit seals us when we receive Christ, it will unlikely dat the person will lose His Salvation. Maybe you guys didn't understand me before...
ProphetUdeme: 1 timothy 4 vs 4 - The Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times many shall depart from the faith and deviate away from the truth and shall have their conscience seared with hot iron. Peter tells us that They shall even forsake and deny the Lord that brought them and shall bring upon themselves swift destruction. There is in one of the o.p's post that he made mentioned that whatever i might say, he will never agree. Why because his conscience has been hardened by the devil. Many have really fallen away from the truth. All they need is to be included in our daily prayers
My brother i am of the Lord oo abeg.... i was once like you before, living in condemnation & guilt. But thank God for showing me the TRUTH. You people are quick to believe fake doctrines, eg one Sister Linda from Sierra Leone.... lol.
The Lord has given us “eternal life.” Eternal life is not a boarding pass that can be lost or stolen. It is God’s divine life that is eternally ours based on our divine birth. Christians talk about being “born again,” but, according to the Bible, what does that really mean?
John 1:12-13 say, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those who believe into His name, who were begotten [or born]…of God.”
So those who receive Christ by believing into His name are born of God with the life of God to become children of God. Since, as believers in Christ, we’re born of God, we can’t be “un- born.” To illustrate, no matter how much a child offends their parents, the parents still can’t take back the life they’ve imparted into that child. It’s the same with God.
vooks: Many believers who live like Satan because they imagine God is helpless against them seeing He saved them will be horrified to end up in hell
It will never work for you, listen to what God said concerning Believers in John 10:28-29....
“And I give to them eternal life, and they shall by no means perish forever, and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”
NOTHING, I MEAN NOTHING IS GOING TO SNATCH US FROM THE HANDS OF THE FATHER & THE SON!!!! WE ARE ETERNALLY SAVED!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!! So you see, man can never understand the ways of God cos He doesn't think like Men. Mind you, i don't encourage believers to live in Sin. I encourage them to live holy & acceptable lives, but what i was trying to let people know is that ONCE YOU ACCEPT CHRIST as your Lord and Personal Saviour, your eternal security is SEALED!!!!! This Gospel of Grace will be hard for you to understand but later on you will come to realise the Love of God for mankind. This was the same Gospel Paul was preaching and they came against him.
JOSEPH PRINCE - HIS RESURRECTION ( PROOF OF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS )
You can enjoy boldness and peace every day when you know you are righteous in God’s sight. In this powerful and heart-anchoring Resurrection Sunday message, Joseph Prince shows you why our Lord Jesus’ resurrection is your divine receipt that you have been made righteous through His perfect work at the cross. See how this righteousness you have is freely given to those in Christ and cannot be forfeited by your failures. Live confident that God is always for you because of your righteous standing before Him, and see all your enemies put under your feet!
His Resurrection is the only proof of Our Righteousness...... If not for the Death & Salvation of Christ, mankind will be forever doomed........
Brethren, your faith in Christ is your Eternal Security, let no man deceive you dat you need to work for your Salvation. Its an insult to God's Grace..... You didn't work for your Salvation its by God's Grace.
By working out your Salvation, we mean manifesting the fruits of your Salvation which is Holiness & Christian living.... it is very good so dat the unbelievers will see the hand of God in your life.... But the essence of our Salvation is our FAITH in the finished Work of CHRIST.... not by our WORKS. God must take all the GLORY.... Once you are a Believer in Christ, your Salvation is sealed forever and Eternal Life is yours......
Jeromejnr: Don't deceive yourself and others. Jesus said many will say on that day Lord, Lord.... Some of those people casted out demons, and did mighty miracles in His name. Unbelievers can't work miracles in Jesus name. Paul also said "the righteous" are scarcely saved. Who are the righteous? Definitely not the unbelievers. Paul also said he "keeps his body under subjection lest after he has preached he himself will be a cast away" God also said " there will be a great apostasy in the end-times, cause many will depart from the faith". Jesus told a particular church in revelations that "they had left Him His first love," and that they should repent or He will to remove their lampstick from it's place. He also said in Revelations of the Lukewarm christians , that He will spew them out of His mouth. There are many more. Study the scriptures and stop being ignorant. Grace is not a license to sin. It's an empowerment to live the godly life. That's why God expects more from us in this new covenant. In the old lustfully looking at a woman wasn't adultery but it is in the new. In the old hatred wasn't murder but it is in the new. Demas was saved, but Paul talked about him that he had gone back to the world. God said "He will never leave us nor forsake us" but that does not mean we can't forsake Him. If after looking at this scriptures you believe you can't lose salvation, then I must say repent or else you will be enforcing doctrines of demons.
I would have ignored you like the others but lemme put u straight..... Most of the Bible Scriptures u quote are under different circumstances. U need to understand that most times the Bible have figurative meaning other than the literal meaning. Do you know dat not all church goers are born again christians? There are people dat go to church but they didn't confess Christ and believe, some people go to church for different reasons. These are the kind of people our Lord Jesus Christ were talking about...... For the records Ananias & Saphira were not Christians, they are church goers..... When someone confesses Christ & believed in Him for Salvation he can never lose that Salvation unless that same person denounces Christ which is rare. Your Salvation is your faith in Christ and u didn't do any work to get it , so all glory goes to God. But when u start saying u have to work to maintain dat Salvation, you are now the one teaching another Gospel and you mocking God that Jesus death wasn't enough.
“Working out your salvation” is something totally different from working for your salvation.
You might ask, “What’s the difference between working out your salvation and working for your salvation?
A lot. Working Out your Salvation is good for every believer.Working for your Salvation is a heresy–a teaching not according to the genuine Christian faith. So let’s consider the difference…
Working out your salvation versus working for your salvation
We can never work in order to receive Salvation; that’s an offense to God’s grace. God’s Word reveals that we can do nothing to earn His salvation by any good works that we have done. Christ has done it all. On the cross, He said, “It is finished!” No one can add to Christ’s redemptive work for us. He paid the price for our salvation with His precious blood. All we can do now is receive it by faith.
In Romans 3:22 and 24 , Paul said, Even the righteousness of God through the faith of Jesus Christ to all those who believe, for there is no distinction…Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.
Meanwhile, working out your Salvation is all about Christian living & holiness which is very good. But that doesn't determine the security of ur Salvation cos the first time u received your Salvation, the Holy Spirit have sealed you until Rapture.
Timothy3113: broda pls can an atheist dat was once a xtian get into heaven
Good afternoon bro... To answer your question, lets define an ATHEIST.... "A person who rejects belief that any deities exist (whether or not that person believes that deities do not exist)."
So you see an Atheist is someone who rejects belief that any deity exist..... So a Christian who once confessed and believed in Jesus Christ must have rejected His belief in Christ to become an Atheist. And we are made to understand in the Bible that APOSTASY which is actually the REJECTION of a belief will expose you to the devil and his allies. So when a Christian, denounces Christ with His mouth and his belief to become an Atheist, then it means you are no longer under the umbrella of God's children because you have rejected the Salvation of Christ.
Our Bible made us to understand in John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.
So my bro, the criteria for making Heaven is by Believing in your Heart & Confessing with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the son of God and He was raised from the dead after 3 days for our Justification . That is what makes you a Believer & a Child of God. But the Christian we are talking of here have renounced Christ to become an Atheist.... So he's no longer a Believer.

sportsmaster: that is where you failed it again. It is God that secures your salvation. Read 1John 5:18 in Several translations. It is God that works in Us to do his pleasure and Good will. God keeps his own, we are kept by the Power of God. God relates with you on the basis of his Son. It is what Christ has done for you that makes you stand before God. It's neither conduct nor works. I strongly encourage personal holiness and good Christian living. But none of those will earn you anything in the Sight of God. Just like the Old testament folks came with the blood of Bulls and Goats,is the same way we come to God with the perfect sacrifice of Christ.which is eternal.
Excellent write up my broda. Dis is what i have been trying to explain to dem. Good Christian living is encouraged when you are saved, that it doesn't mean the licence to sin. Meanwhile, the righteousness we claim is the righteousness of Christ and His finished work on the Cross, dat is what we require in God's presence cos our own self righteousness is nothing before God.
But its a pity they don't want to understand me, so i stopped explaining cos its as if i am repeating myself allover again like a broken record.

You can quote Scriptures from here till whenever, i don't care. Go to the beginning of my post to see how i explained everything. ONCE YOU ARE SAVED, YOU CANNOT BE UNSAVED. God's promise of eternal life to us cannot be changed.
I wonder why it is very difficult for u people to understand or are you people jealous, angry or what? God is not man and can never think like man.
So you can argue from now till whenever, plz be ma guest but i have put all of you on IGNORE BUTTON. You people are the Modern day PHARISEES & SADUCCEES.... You think you are Holy and pretend with your so-called Self Righteousness meanwhile y'all are wallowing in secret sins.... Plz carry your sanctimonious selves outta here....
sportsmaster: Go online and scour the internet. Get original manuscripts and texs. Compare over 100 translations, ask any true pastor or preacher. All that is Rom8:1 is "there is now no condemantion to those who are in Christ."
my brother you get time oo. they will still argue with you from now till whenever. Can't you see i have ignored them? plz stop replying them, he who chooses to wallow in ignorance, let them wallow. It is not their fault but that was their orientation from the get go. It takes knowledge to liberate them..... plz stop wasting your time on them.
An2elect2: What does it mean to work out our salvation with fear and trembling? Paul can hardly be encouraging believers to live in a continuous condition of nervousness and anxiety. That would contradict his many other exhortations to peace of mind, courage, and confidence in the God who authors our salvation. The Greek word translated "fear" in this context can equally mean "reverence" or "respect." Paul uses the same phrase in ( 2 Corinthians 7:15 ) where he refers to Titus as being encouraged by the Corinthians’ reception of him “with fear and trembling,” that is, with great humility and respect for his position as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul himself came to the Corinthian church in “weakness and fear, and with much trembling” ( 1 Corinthians 2:3 ), mindful of the great and awesome nature of the work in which he was engaged. The sense in which we are to work out our salvation in fear and trembling is twofold. First, the Greek verb rendered “work out” means "to continually work to bring something to completion or fruition." We do this by actively pursuing obedience in the process of sanctification, which Paul explains further in the next chapter of Philippians. He describes himself as “straining” and “pressing on” toward the goal of Christlikeness ( Philippians 3:13-14 ). The “trembling” he experiences is the attitude Christians are to have in pursuing this goal—a healthy fear of offending God through disobedience and an awe and respect for His majesty and holiness. "Trembling" can also refer to a shaking due to weakness, but this is a weakness of higher purpose, one which brings us to a state of dependency on God. Obedience and submission to the God we revere and respect is our “reasonable service” (Romans 12:1-2 ) and brings great joy. Psalm 2:11 sums it up perfectly: “Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.” We work out our salvation by going to the very source of our salvation—the Word of God—wherein we renew our hearts and minds (Romans 12:1-2 ), coming into His presence with a spirit of reverence and awe. You are trying to explain away eternal security with passages that say nothing about it. What does the bible say about OSAS: The Bible teaches that those who are born again will continue trusting in Christ forever. God, by His own power through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, keeps or preserves the believer forever. This wonderful truth is seen in Ephesians 1:13-14 , where we see that believers are “sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchase possession, to the praise of His glory.” When we are born again, we receive the promised indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit that is God’s guarantee that He who began a good work in us will complete it ( Philippians 1:6 ). In order for us to lose our salvation after receiving the promised Holy Spirit, God would have to break His promise or renege on His “guarantee,” which He cannot do. Therefore, the believer is eternally secure because God is eternally faithful. The understanding of this doctrine really comes from understanding the unique and special love that God has for His children. Romans 8:28-39 tells us that 1) no one can bring a charge against God’s elect; 2) nothing can separate the elect from the love of Christ; 3) God makes everything work together for the good of the elect; and 4) all whom God saves will be glorified. God loves His children (the elect) so much that nothing can separate them from Him. Of course this same truth is seen in many other passages of Scripture as well. In John 10:27-30 , Jesus says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one." Again, in John 6:37-47 , we see Jesus stating that everyone that the Father gives to the Son will come to Him and He will raise all of them up at the last day. Another evidence from Scripture of the eternal security of a believer is found in John 5:24 , where Jesus says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” Notice that eternal life is not something we get in the future but is something that we have once we believe. By its very nature, eternal life must last forever, or it could not be eternal. This passage says that, if we believe the gospel, we have eternal life and will not come into judgment; therefore, it can be said we are eternally secure. There is really very little scriptural basis that can be used to argue against the eternal security of the believer. While there are a few verses that, if not considered in their context, might give the impression that one could “fall from grace” or lose his salvation, when these verses are carefully considered in context it is clear that is not the case. Many people know someone who at one time expressed faith in Christ and who might have appeared to be a genuine Christian who later departed from the faith and now wants to have nothing to do with Christ or His church. These people might even deny the very existence of God. For those who do not want to accept what the Bible says about the security of the believer, these types of people are proof that the doctrine of eternal security cannot be right. However, the Bible indicates otherwise, and it teaches that people such as those who profess Christ as Savior at one time only to later walk away and deny Christ were never truly saved in the first place. For example, 1 John 2:19 says, "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out from us, in order that it might be made manifest that they all are not truly of us." The Bible is also clear that not everyone who professes to be a Christian truly is. Jesus Himself says that not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 7:21-22 ). Rather than proving we can lose our salvation, those people who profess Christ and fall away simply reinforces the importance of testing our salvation to make sure we are in the faith ( 2 Corinthians 13:5 ) and making our calling and election sure by continually examining our lives to make sure we are growing in godliness ( 2 Peter 1:10 ). One of the misconceptions about the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints is that it will lead to “carnal Christians” who believe that since they are eternally secure they can live whatever licentious lifestyle they wish and still be saved. But that is a misunderstanding of the doctrine and what the Bible teaches. A person who believes he can live any way he wants because he has professed Christ is not demonstrating true saving faith (1 John 2:3-4 ). Our eternal security rests on the biblical teaching that those whom God justifies, He will also glorify ( Romans 8:29-30 ). Those who are saved will indeed be conformed to the image of Christ through the process of sanctification (1 Corinthians 6:11 ). When a person is saved, the Holy Spirit breaks the bondage of sin and gives the believer a new heart and a desire to seek holiness. Therefore a true Christian will desire to be obedient to God and will be convicted by the Holy Spirit when he sins. True Christians will never “live any way they want” because such behavior is impossible for someone who has been given a new nature ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Clearly, the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints does accurately represent what the Bible teaches on this important subject. If someone is truly saved, he has been made alive by the Holy Spirit and has a new heart with new desires. There is no way that one that has been “born again” can later be “unborn.” Because of His unique love for His children, God will keep all of His children safe from harm, and Jesus has promised that He would lose none of His sheep. The doctrine of the perseverance of the saints recognizes that true Christians will always persevere and are eternally secure because God keeps them that way. It is based on the fact that Jesus, the “author and perfecter of faith” ( Hebrews 12:2 ), is able to completely save those whom the Father has given Him (Hebrews 7:25 ) and to keep them saved through all eternity.
Excellent Explanation!!! But watch out, they ll still argue it. Stop wasting your time my dear.
sportsmaster: i urge you to search the original manuscript of Romans 8:1 all that it says is. "there is now no condemnation unto them that are in Christ Jesus"
Tell dem my broda oo. They will not see dat one.
They don't know they are the people mocking God by telling Him dat Jesus' death wasn't enough.... If not for Jesus, no man will make Heaven, yet they don't know, thinking its by their so-called self righteousness..
spencerwilliams: You are even afraid of looking critically into the scripture,he quoted scriptures, but instead of explaining them to him if he is wrong, you went ahead by saying:you can not convince me again.Listen you have no understand of grace, mercy or salvation, you just say grace grace grace without understanding.May GOD help you.
May God help you too. Everything was explained at the beginning of this thread with scriptures why a Believer can never lose His Salvation and you are here yarning rubbish...... I have said it before and i am saying it again, i am not here to argue with you people...... Grace is what it is.... Don't quote me again!!!!!!
spencerwilliams: You are even afraid of looking critically into the scripture,he quoted scriptures, but instead of explaining them to him if he is wrong, you went ahead by saying:you can not convince me again.Listen you have no understand of grace, mercy or salvation, you just say grace grace grace without understanding.May GOD help you.
I am through with you. Just leave dis thread cos we can never agree.
5solas: @jigazz The reasons are too numerous. Another is that His Spirit abides with us forever, He is the down payment for our salvation and the guarantee of it. We are completely saved no matter our present state of growth and we are simply waiting for that day when it will be actualized. Eph 1:13,14;4:30; 1Pet.1:4-9,17.
Datz so true my brother!!!! I thank God for God and i thank God for Jesus Christ too. We are blessed!!!!
charisville: Hello Jag, Just pray that those who argue with you about this gospel of grace will have a full revelation of the true gospel. No matter how much you argue with them, they won't get it. I pray that the eyes of their understanding be engulfed by The Light of His word. I encourage them to subscribe to Charis Ville Devotional www.charisvilledevotional.com God bless.
I pray so too my brother.... But since they insisted its by their Works that their Salvation wont be lost, so be it. I told them off my thread cos i didn't come here to argue with anybody. If they didn't believe in the Gospel of Grace, all well and good. But they should stop quoting scriptures they themselves do not understand. The Bible have deeper meaning. Most of the places they are quoting, JESUS was addressing His disciples & followers under different circumstances. Besides, some were even parables dat doesn't have literal meaning but deeper meaning.
But if they don't believe, there's no problem. But they should just stay off my thread. Its only for those who believe. Thanks for commenting.
Good morning Don't mind him, how can he explain anything when he cant even explain the Scriptures he's been quoting.... Bunch of ignorant people always quoting the Scriptures out of context. Thank God dat we can never be moved again by false doctrine.
An2elect2: You are the false teacher and the bible calls you a heretic! The bible is very clear on this one that our SALVATION IS BY GRACE AND NOT OF US. And just like y'all do, when you cannot fathom the truth of God's grace and also with your burning desires to esteem your wretched selves above others, you throw those scriptures that do not even support your blasphemy that a loving father will cast away the child he has birthed because of one wrong to our face. You have been duped and need to get yourselves taught thoroughly. Show me one scripture that APPEARS to say salvation can be lost and i will show you many more that expressly state we are safe for ever in God's arm. All the glory going to God for he performs all these wonderful works in us! Go ahead and part yourself on the back and give yourself some glory for being the co-saviour of yourself. And let's see how far you reach with that. But depart from me, false prophet.
Excellent!!!!!! Don't mind him my dear, ignorance is actually Bad...... Knowledge is power.... I hope he realises the Truth....
Anytime i remember my Salvation, i am always Happy and will keep on Praising God for loving me and making me believe in Jesus Christ..... Its a good feeling.... Through one man's sin ( Adam ) mankind was condemned, and through another man's death on the cross ( Jesus ) mankind was redeemed and saved... Salvation is a gift, you just have to receive it and believe in Jesus...... God is LOVE..... His wish is not that any man should perish, but that we should have eternal life by coming to Him through Jesus Christ....
