[quote author=jaybanfa post=32924347]Yeah I'm a great buff of bollywood. But i'm wondering if there was a remake of the movie in the late 80's cos i watched a bollywood flick in 1990 with the same title. Funny cos i "broke bounds" i.e snuck outta school, military school for that matter (AFMS) to go to kwararafa cinema in Jos.[/quote lol wow!! I dont think there was a remake though. |
Saw dis on Linda Ikeji and it brought back memories of my childhood. If u were born in the 80's or before, you will surely remember this famous Indian Bollywood movie YEH VADA RAHA a.k.a SUNITA & VICKRAM. I watched the movie in 1990 and it was a hit in Nigeria back then!!! Phew!!! How time flies!!!!! Yeh Vaada Raha - (The Promise) is arguably one of the most popular Indian films ever made - at least it was very popular in Nigeria. If you didn't watch it, then you weren't born in the 80's. The main protagonists in the classic Hindi film released in 1982 were Sunita and Vikram, pictured left from a scene from the movie. That's the actors together recently on the right. Rishi Kapoor is now 62 years old and Poonam Dhillon is 53 years old. And they are still actively acting. Good to see them again! http://lindaikeji..in/2015/04/photos-yeh-vaada-rahas-sunita-and.html?m=1

Dis is an interesting revelation by an inside Source in the Label.... Saw the story on Pulse Ng. Pulse broke the story yesterday of Emma Nyra’s exit from Made Men Music Group, home to Iyanya, Baci, Tekno, Selebobo , and DJ Coublon , with executive responsibility shouldered by Ubi Franklin . According to our findings, Emma left the record label after over 3 three years of engagement, relocating back to the USA, where she schooled. According to our sources, her decision to quit was fostered by personal issues with Ubi Franklin, and what many do not know is the true reason why she left. Pulse conducted a thorough investigation through her stay within the record label, and we have documented that below. The Sweet Beginning Emma Nyra (real name Emma Chukwugoziam Obi) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Nyra was born on July 18, 1988, in California and raised in Texas. Her father is a pharmacist and her mother has had a home health practice. When Emma Nyra was six years old, she already liked to sing and wanted to become a singer. She pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Administration at the Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, to please her parents and only then Nyra insisted on relocating to Nigeria. In 2010, Emma Nyra met her manager, Ubi Franklin, during one of her Christmas visits to Nigeria. In 2011, Ubi Franklin was working with Iyanya, who was just beginning to experience his first taste of success through the hit single ‘ Kukere ’. Iyanya later went on to cement his success with hit singles, ‘ Flavour’, ‘Sexy Mama’, ‘Jombolo ’ and ‘ Ur Waist ’ from his sophomore album ' Iyanya VS Desire'. With fame came money for Iyanya and also Ubi Franklin, who close friends say had fallen deep in love with Emma Nyra. Emma, was immediately signed to the newly created MMMG label and had her first feature on Iyanya’s hit single ‘ Ur Waist ’. Sources however tell Pulse that the single had controversy in its creation; as Emma Nyra vocals were originally written and voiced by someone else. Sources says the chorus and original vocals were rendered photographer-turned-singer, Toni Tones but was replaced by Emma Nyra without a notice. The song was released in July 2012, and quickly became a hit, with Emma Nyra starring in it, and scoring her first flirt with popularity. ‘Ur Waist’ was nominated for ‘Best Pop Single’ and ‘Song of the Year’ at The Headies 2013 » . To this day, ‘Ur Waist’ is seen in some quarters as Emma’s best contribution to music in Nigeria. Signing To Made Men Music Group With the financial rewards gotten by Iyanya’s music, and deals struck by Ubi Franklin, Ubi now focused on breaking Emma Nyra into the Nigerian music scene just as he had done with Iyanya. In 2012, Nyra came to Lagos after her manager helped to convince her parents to allow her relocate in search of a thriving music career. Industry insiders say Iyanya was however not in support of the move. " He had just began to reap financial rewards and did not want to channel his funds to promoting another artiste", one source told Pulse. Once in Nigeria, work was put into her career with massive funding channelled by Ubi Franklin into her career. High budget videos were shot for her. The first of which is ‘ Ori Mi Wu ’, directed by Moe Musa . The song was released in July 2012, with the video released in January 2013. In 2013, Emma Nyra released three high budget videos; ‘ Ori Mi Wu ’ (January), ‘ Everything I Do’ featuring Iyanya (March), ‘ Kere Shere ’ (October). Also in 2013, Iyanya and Emma Nyra set out on US/Canada tour to promote Iyanya’s sophomore album, which contained the collaboration, ‘Ur Waist’. The tour packaged by Big A Entertainment is regarded as one of the most successful US tours by a Nigerian. Problems, Problems, Problems With all of these happening for her, Emma Nyra unfortunately failed to excite a huge number of Nigerian fans. The success gained by Tiwa Savage, Omawumi and Waje , eluded Emma Nyra, and so frustration set in. Which made her begin to search for other options. Emma’s frustration with the state of her career which had failed to skyrocket, made her try out different options. Emma was still in a relationship with Ubi Franklin, but the rumour mill went viral, as unconfirmed sources began to bear stories of a fling with Chocolate City’s Ice Prince , and Mavin Records, D’Prince . Reports have it that Ubi Franklin had once or twice physically assaulted Emma Nyra. This is however unconfirmed as both parties have distanced themselves from such rumours. The lowest point of their relationship was reached in December 2013, when Emma gave an interview to Channels TV, stating that she had left the label. “The label, yeah, we are no longer together, nothing happened, I just didn’t renew my contract.” Emma Nyra disclosed. Emma also harboured plans to start a movement for emerging female artistes, a movement she dubbed, the ‘ Girl Power Movement ’. With the news in the open, Emma opened talks with various industry players, expecting people to rally behind her, and support her movement. That support never came, and frustrated further, she relocated back home to Texas, and began a new phase of planning. Ubi Franklin made the move for reconciliation, which was accepted, and she was brought into the fold, moving back to Nigeria in 2014, to join the creation of the present MMMG label roaster. Tekno had earlier been signed in October 2013, Selebobo was signed in March 2014, Baci had been a regular with Iyanya, having made his bones as a creative force behind-the-scenes, and in public as a backup singer to Iyanya. With Emma Nyra’s return in 2014, Triple MG set to work on their compilation debut album, with a massive promotional campaign masterminded by Ubi. Emma released the solo single, ‘Amigo’. The debut album entitled ‘ Evolution ’ was successfully released in May 2014. Emma Nyra’s solo single was well-received, but it wasn’t well promoted, and didn’t get a video to go with it. Pseudo – Renaissance In April 2014, Emma Nyra released a song with Davido titled ‘ Elele ’. The song received good airplay and a video was released in September 2014. A follow single was released in late 2014 - the Dancehall single ‘ For My Matter’. A video was also released in December 2014. More Problems In November 2014, Beat FM OAP Fade Ogunro , took to Instagram to allegedly vent at Ubi’s behaviour (albeit, without directly pointing fingers), insinuating he was still physically abusing Emma Nyra. She said: Dear CEO, I have learnt that In life, people will try and lie about you, bring you down, those that hurt you most are the ones that disguise themselves as friends. There’s one particular person in the industry that tries everyday to infiltrate my life and break up my relationship. Jesus will always stop you from hurting me emotionally, physically, mentally. When Jesus says yes, no man can say no! Meanwhile this person stays beating up girls, he stays smacking the girl that is signed to his label, they pretend they are in a loving relationship. Nope, she cheats, he beats her. She has never admitted that she is your girlfriend, she is clearly embarrassed by you. #DumbAss. Same nigga wants to lie about me, why you so extra? Stay outta my life, reality is im in love and he hates that. Anyone who is any type of happy he wants to bring them down. Go focus on your sad negative life. No matter what, God has blessed me, deal with it. I have a wealthy heart and I’m cute. You just mad that the only girls you can get are my mans leftovers from 5 years ago. You ugly, you heart is ugly, your intentions are ugly. You will end up lonely and still ugly. FOH! The world will see you for who you really are! #HaterAlert Sincerely, The girl who has been in a loving 2 year relationship. That story put the heat on Ubi Franklin, but he remained quiet, refusing to respond to the allegations. The Last Straw Ubi Franklin’s engagement to Nollywood actress, Lilian Esoro caught many by surprise. On March 19, 2014, Lilian Esoro finally it the cat out of the bag that she had agreed to get married to Ubi Franklin. This sparked quite an uproar on social media, with a lot of people sharing polarized opinions about the new development. Emma Nyra didn’t join the others in congratulating the couple. She was at the time attending the 2015 SXSW event in Austin, Texas. She is currently still in Houston. Emma Nyra finally left Made Men Music Group (Triple MG) and possibly Nigeria after over 3 years with the label. According to reliable sources within the recording house, the singer quit the record label due to personal issues with her boss, Ubi Franklin . “Emma has left their record label. She not only left, she has relocated back to the USA where she came from. Emma left due to personal reasons with Ubi Franklin”, a source told Pulse. Emma Nyra has been promoting herself singlehandedly since the beginning of March 2015. She has also refused to pick up calls or respond to messages from her (ex)label mates and managers. "Emma Nyra is not picking her calls, neither is she in communication with any of her friends and colleagues." the source further revealed. Her booking e-mail which used to read bookemmanyra@gmail.com has now been changed to her personal email, emmanyra@gmail.com and she has been in the U.S for more than 4 weeks. Also, her erstwhile title, “ First Lady Triple MG ” is gone. She now describes herself as “International Recording Artiste, Nigerian Entertainment Award Winner ” and her booking phone number has been changed to an US number. The rest of the TripleMG crew have been carrying about their duties, with no mention of her. Iyanya, Tekno, Selebobo, and Baci, have recorded songs with DJ Coublon , and Mystro, with a video shoot already done without the diva. Triple MG will be releasing a new song titled ‘Yudala’, in the coming weeks.

Saw dis on a blog The price of fame they say, is very expensive. This fact has been bitterly found out by virtually all celebrities. This discussion is really one that instigates a whole lot of divided opinions. Events that have occurred over the years and still happening, and in fact doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop, is the highly intriguing microscopic view of celebrities or public figures as the case may be, by fans and observers. It must be killing and draining for these public figures having to deal with all sorts of unsavoury tirades directed at them, at times for no just reason, on a daily basis. They’re human, they deserve the right to freedom as the next man on the street. Their superstar status/fame brings them under much scrutiny though,as they are role models in some capacity. Celebrities as role models can’t be denied, so it’s only natural that a specific act, utterance can go a long way in how they’re perceived by the public. The fans in a way feel they enrich these celebs by spending their hard earned money to embrace their works, while the celebs in return feel they don’t owe any fan/stranger any explanation as to what they do with their lives. Many’s the time these celebrities show and voice their displeasure at the way they are viewed, scrutinized or judged by the public. In fact, they get so obsessed with any negativity directed in their way that it becomes some sort of paranoia as they label these observers as the so-much- thrown-around word, “hater”. Which brings about the question, do these celebrities actually know what they’re getting themselves into by craving fame and by putting themselves in public glare?….Let’s try and weigh in from different perspectives. Fame and wealth automatically breeds envy, as some low-life tries to make him/herself feel better by demeaning the achievements or accomplishments of others. We also all know how negativity thrives in our society and generate uproar as opposed to positivity, so it is of little surprise the length some can go. But then, the aspiring celebrities should have been prepared for the toughest of times, as every step or action taken is seen, interpreted and judged by the keen public, even if it is inaccurate and unfair at times. Just recently, superstar songstress Waje had to snap back at a ‘fan’ on her instagram page who made demeaning comment to her picture post of 16years old daughter, Emerald. Timi Dakolo also got a bitter taste of the cookie as he got clowned on supposedly having ‘brown’ teeth in the comment section of his picture post on instagram. Mavin Records songstress, Di’ja had also in the past week had to deal with an abusive fan who accused her of being proud and arrogant as he alleged she ignores her fans on social media. Popular nollywood actress Omotola Jalade also had to defend and put fans in their place after spiteful comments was directed at her young daughter….and several other attacks on celebs that are too many to mention. You then have to think, do these celebrities deserve some of the outrageous abuse they get on a daily basis? I mean, it’s their instagram page, it’s their facebook page, and it’s also their twitter TL, where they can share their thoughts and opinions just as any other user, if you have nothing positive or pleasant to say to them why not just jog on…They are bound to make mistakes like every regular creature of God and they’ll never be perfect. It’s even more hilarious when these celebs get followed by ‘fans’ who don’t actually like them. It’s like these ‘fans’ follow these popular figures just to troll them with abuses….that to me is ‘hating’. Then again, should these celebrities not ignore unruly or disrespectful fans? Interestingly though, some of these celebrities know how to dish it right back, the no-nonsense ones put erring fans in their places e.g Omotola, Waje. Some go about it in more mature, subtle, knock-yourself-out type of way e.g Di’Ja, Don Jazzy , Banky W, while some ignore totally as they have developed a thick skin and are already immune to these detractors. Some or majority of these celebrities on the other hand, enjoy the attention, as they attract these spiteful comments by trying to be as controversial as possible, sometimes mainly on purpose, as it serves as a means to being relevant. Take the likes of immensely talented Asa , Tuface , Sound Sultan , Banky W, extremely gifted producer Cobhams Asuquo and a couple of respectable others, it can be observed that the despise towards these group of celebrities is on a minimal level compared to others. We can only think it is highly due to the quality of materials they put out, and their high moral standards in doing so. Whereas on the other side of the fence are the likes of Davido, Wizkid , Skales who sometimes act out of control mainly due to youthful exuberance. Conversely though, most of these artistes/ celebrities take offence in an appalling and overly sensitive way to any constructive criticism directed at their works or projects. They release materials and expect every Tom, Dick and Harry to lap it up irrespective of perceived flaws…just because. Yes it’s your work, you have put in a lot of effort, you feel it’s the best you can offer and you probably feel if some set of fans are not satisfied, then they should ignore. Well, what then happens when almost the whole of your fanbase are dissatisfied with the quality of your project and they choose to ignore, this would automatically translate to some sort of irrelevancy or disregard on your part in a highly competitive entertainment industry. Everyone can almost make his/her own list in two different categories of celebrities with highly respectable values and those who parade as simply industry puppets. We implore our celebrities to be the best possible they can, and represent the values their ardent fans can truly be proud of, while we encourage fans to be more accommodating and appreciative of these public figures as they are also prone to mistakes. They also deserve their right to varying opinions. Finally, for artistes who refer to critics as ‘haters’, well deal with it or STOP putting out horrendous materials….GO HARD OR GO HOME!

Saw dis on Vanguard She began her journey into the world of entertainment after she won the Miss Face of Detlta State University, as an undergraduate. She went on to emerge second runner-up in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) in 1999. But following the passion she has for acting, Grace Edwin-Okon delved into acting, as she featured in many films and soap operas such as Tears in Heaven, Extreme Measures, My Dream, Prodigal Brother and Doctors’ Quarters, before disappearing into thin air. In this encounter, Grace explains why she disappeared from the screen. She also talks about her marriage and the movie industry. YOU have been away for a long time, did your husband stop you from acting? Interestingly, that was not the case. My husband is actually very supportive. He likes me as an actress but I was the one who needed to do a lot more with myself. I have pushed myself all the way as a beauty queen to acting, script writing and producing. Now, I am an author because I just published a book. I strive to break new ground. My new films would soon be released into the market . I’m hitting the screen again. But this time around, I may not be as active as I used to be in the past. I decided to take a break after featuring in a couple of films because I getting scripts I didn’t like. Getting scripts One of my friends later encouraged me to go into film production. That was when I wrote a script that took me almost three years to package. The film is yet to be released into the market, but I have released other films since then. How do you feel disappearing from the screen? The surprising thing is that years have gone by since I disappeared from the screen. But people still recognize me everywhere I go. I think my face has not changed in such a way that my fans still make me feel special. I hope to stage a comeback with my own films and I promise not to disappoint my fans. Would you say marriage made you to dump acting? On the contrary, my husband wants me to return to acting. I took the decision myself to take a break from acting. I needed to learn the ropes properly, because film making is not a child’s play. I had to go and learn the art of film making because as a person, if I do not understand the concept of something, I would rather not venture into it. Marriage is not responsible for my disappearance from the screen. What connection do you have with modelling? I used to be a model while I was an undergraduate at Delta State University. I emerged the Campus Queen then, and later, second runner-up at MBGN in 1999. Does it mean that you started your career as a model? Yes, I started as a model and later ventured into acting. What was it like being a beauty queen? Well, it was an experience on its own. One of the things I learnt as a beauty queen was confidence. No matter the situation I find myself in, I’m never get scared of anything or anybody. Most people do not realize that pageantry goes beyond ladies parading in under-wears. But is also, a grooming hub for young ladies. It teaches etiquette and confidence and makes you believe that you can go anywhere, stand on your own as a strong woman. Pageantry for me was a bedrock and a stepping stone, a launching pad to raise my standards to greater things. My first film entitled “Heavy Beauty” is a pageant film. I put all my experience as a beauty queen into writing the script. I have actually produced two similar films which will be released before the end of this year. Why did you dump modelling for acting? Honestly, film making is very intellectual. While I was into modelling at the time, I realized it was not as mentally challenging as it is today. The terrain has changed. When I discovered that script writing was something that required a lot of work, I put in my best into it and today, I have written well over 10 scripts, and already, six of them have been produced into films. As a producer, people such as Emem Isong influenced my decision to go into film production. I had the feeling that I could also be a part of the change, or the improvement of the Nollywood industry. Did you set out to become a model or an actress? Interestingly yes. A lot of people would call it ‘cliche’ but for me, it was not so. Right from childhood, my family members and friends used to call me ‘’Fulani’ (even though I am not from the North) because of the kind of features I possessed. Any time I sustain an injury, my mother would tell me, “ you have injured yourself now, and you would not be Miss Nigeria again.” That dream stuck into me because she liked pageantry a lot. I had an Aunty, Joy Nwariso who was once Miss UNIPORT and she used to tell me that I could also go for pageants. All of these contributed to my decision to go into modelling. From childhood, I have always liked the television, and I can vividly recall a lot of old programmes because I watched them with keen interest. I knew I wanted to become an actress. I can say now that fate directed my steps. How did you feel the first time you were on set? I remember it was a Zeb Ejiro film. At that time, AY, the comedian, used to be my manager and his girlfriend who once represented Nigeria at the Miss World pageant went for an audition and asked me to escort her. When it was time for her reading, they needed someone to read with her and I did. It occurred to them that I was good also and that became my first time ever to see or even read a script.I had no former knowledge whatsoever but I got the role and it happened to be a lead role. My first experience on set was a learning process for me and an exciting experience because I studied English in school and was not quite sure what I wanted to do with my life after. Have you had any ugly experience in marriage, given the rate at which celebrity marriages are crashing in Nigeria? I have been married for nine years now and I am still in it. Day by day, we encounter obstacles but we cross it and get to know each other better. My career would have been a challenge because it was an expensive one. But my husband saw how determined and focused I was and he decided to support me by giving me the money to shoot my first movie.

Just saw this in a blog Uti Nwachukwu wish he could stay off s*x till he finds the right woman to settle down with, but he is afraid, the task is too much for him to carry. While speaking with a vanguard reporter, Uti says he gave his life to Christ in 2006, but admits he is still an imperfect person, despite being born again.“Of course, I am born again, I found Christ in 2006, I have always believed in Christ. But I must tell you I am not still perfect, he told the reporter. “Being born again, means accepting Christ as your Lord and personal saviour. He didn’t come to the world for the righteous, Christ came for the imperfect ones like me and you. I genuinely want to change, Christ is right there soliciting and interceding for me, because he is the way, the truth and the life. People fail to see that it is we, the imperfect, that Christ came for. I am extremely imperfect. I am not the stereotypical type of born again, I am the type that is aware of the love and grace” he explained. When asked what he meant by being imperfect, he said; “Personally, I would not want to have sex before marriage but sometimes you fall and when you fall, you repent and beg God for forgiveness; it’s not easy. http://street77news.com/2014/10/its-not-easy-staying-without-sx-uti-nwachukwu.html/

Disappointed Kenyan fans took to twitter to express their displeasure over Davido’s indiscipline at the event.

Beautiful Toke Makinwa became spirit- filled as she landed off a private jet recently in Lagos. The On-Air-Personality shared photos of her herself aboard the luxury carrier and couldn’t help but give thanks for the manifestation of God’s promises in her life. The controversial Vlogger who is obviously elated about her growth wrote, “Touch down lagos!!!! Super thankful for growth, for some, these things might not be a big deal but I know where I am coming from. I have a very big God and his words are real. @ OP, i disagree with you. I bought my Techno Phantom A in June 2013 and used it till February 2015 cos i bought a new phone and have to give it to my niece. The phone didn't give me any problem throughout the 21 months i used it. and my niece is still rocking the phone without any problem. So OP, i dunno why u people like talking down on the so called China phones without using them. Not everyone can afford a Samsung Galaxy or iPhone. Cut ur cloth according to your size. Don't buy phones to impress people so far u are getting what u want from the phone. Mind u, infinix is a French company dat have base in China, likewise Samsung and Apple. I now use Infinix Zero and it gives me everything i want in a phone. I Google every phone before buying. |
Saw dis on the NetNg There’s a campaign going viral online now and it doesn’t look good for Nigerian musicians. The campaign tagged #WeNoBeMumuForArtists is a protest by the association of Nigerian Music Promoters in the United States of America who all came together to form a body to fight against what they tag as over-priced Nigerian acts. For them, the music acts offer little or nothing in return for their exorbitant fees they charge and according to reports, in the last 2 years, A-list fees for several acts have gone from $5,000 to over $40,000 and with little or no sponsorship, these promoters find themselves constantly running at a loss. For this reason, they’ve decided to take a stand and boycott any Nigerian artist who quotes an exorbitant fee. The official statement issued by the group reads… ‘Over the years, it’s been enthusiastic priority for Nigerian promoters based in the USA and in the “Diaspora” generally to improve, expand and promote Nigerian (African) music to the best of our ability and we have worked very hard over the years. From mixing to producing to waiting outside radio station’ studios for countless hours BECAUSE WE WANTED TO ENTERTAIN FANS OF THE MUSIC as well as get our wonderful music (AFROBEAT) noticed and enjoyed by the world. ‘We are based in the USA where it’s a third of the price to book a local talent (and by local we also mean internationally known, mainstream artists) than it is the prices being pitched to us by Artists’ Managers and publicists and ex high school buddies and side chicks and present girlfriends and “Outlaws” aka wannabe promoters who throw “good” money at these artists and get them to commit to events that they (AND BY THEY WE MEAN THE ARTIST AND THE WANNABE BOTH) have no idea about. ‘We would also ask and prefer that our artists concentrate more on improving their acts or performances for their fans cause that’s really what this is all about. We didn’t become professionals and promote Afrobeat and put together great international events to get these artists to where they are only to be bamboozled by a wannabe or a greedy manager or an artist who just looks at us (and the fact that we live abroad) as mugus!’ © NET Newspapers
