ChrisKels: Lookman is good but should be paired with Osimhen. He doesn't perform when played as a winger. Lookman is an inverted winger/wing forward but we keep using him as a pure winger |

Bossoflife25: I watched Akin every game this season. Seria A is not what it was years ago. Playing against 41 year old Modric and Fofana and winning MON against Florentina doesn't equate to suceeding in the box to box role on the continent. David Moses is better suited for our current plan. Akin is good but not what the SE needs at the moment. Simple. Akpoborie. Ekoku, Ikepa etc were good for their clubs but not really for the SE. You should know this. Ciao! don’t really care much about your argument but what’s this you are trying to do, trying to downplay Serie A for Czech league abi weytin I dey see? That champions league game aside name 5 other games you’ve seen this guy play |

Bossoflife25: Your assumption is funny to me! Which better side has Benjamin played against yet he is by far our best defender as at now. David Moses is far superior for our present tactics where we lack a real box to box. And yes! Akin for all his technicality lacks pace and strength required for what we need now. Dele and Oyedika can play his role, however we currently have no one in the mode of D. Moses. D. Moses was assigned to stop Lookman and he did and almost scored. Playing midfield against Atalanta would have been a piece of cake to him. He is that good! eiii, see hype o. Abeg who be Dele? |

Predator87: Its so annoying seeing how lazy the Tech Department of the NFF is. I hear we are now on the verge of losing Edna Imade to Spain. This girl that should have been capped years ago. Now back to the Super Eagles how come nobody is scouting the English Championship for payers? We are so obsessed with the prem but the Sky Championship has a lot of Nigerians who are willing to wear the GWG without any fuss and can help the teams depth. Guys like Arthur Okonkwo and Ryan Alebiosu given our struggles in Goalkeeper and Right back. We are so passive while the likes of Morocco, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Algeria etc actively recruit dual nationals. Coach Justin Madugu on Edna Imade “She had an excellent season with Granada and is doing well at Real Sociedad. Despite our efforts, writing to her club and reaching out through players in Spain, she’s yet to make up her mind. Whatever she decides, we respect her decision. No be everytime NFF’s fault |

TheSuperNerd: The technical dept of the NFF led by Austine Eguaovoen as Technical director have got to be quite a bunch to have never tried initiating a move on Kayode since we mentioned him here since 2022. My italian friend told me about this lad and I quickly got the dossier needed and dropped it here on NL first. But as usual naa... the people with the actual job of handling the technical side of our football sleep. They dont research. They dont monitor.
And it is not just Michael Kayode. There are couple more. Smh. I will keep doing what I do for the love of the game and Nigerian football but it is a shame that what is a hobby for one is not taken seriously by those with the actual job. he’s beginning to get noticed in the EPL it’s only a matter of time before Italy invite him. |

TheSuperNerd: Exactly. It is the tactical needs of the RW for each coach that matters. Both have equal shouts for that role but Finidi is my take coz I need one who will supply the 9 constantly, while taking the occasional strike at goal (1995 UCL Semis vs Bayern) and not one who go dey drag top scorer with am. Lol solid argument for Finidi, can cross can pass also a very good box 18 crasher with very good long range shots e.g his goal vs Morocco in year 2000 |

Odegbami vs Finidi... whoever anyone picks here, I will understand. Both are great. Our greateat RWs of all time. But for me personally, it is "World Class George" all the way. He was called that by some pundits. Best RW in the world no be beans. I think this comes down to personal preference if you want a wing forward who can give you goals, Big Segz but if you want a pure winger who can deliver accurate and wicked crosses then Finidi is your man |

GMBOFASIA: Football game can still be single-handedly won by a player if you have an elite player let not go far take a look at our Benin game it was osimhen heroics and unbelievable display that kept us to play off assuming it was boniface or sodiq umar starting that game we probably would have played goalless so sometimes don’t over rules some players singlehandedly doing something extra ordinary to win games you want to argue with him? Be like you have plenty free time |

TheGoodJoe: Unfortunately, this is not about a popular choice thing but actual quality.
Ambrose was unbelievable. Never in my life seen a right back with such driving force. He literally used to drive Keshi's conquering Super Eagles from the right flank. A spectacle to behold. Popular vote will not change that quality fact.
Celestine Babayaro was tactically insane. He did it at the highest level. There was this game he had against AC Milan that was just madness.
Celestine Babayaro at Chelsea was a very brilliant player. Iroha can never scrape such level of performance.
Taribo, that is not even a debate.
Mikel Obi, he was a creative midfielder that also comes with a full defensive package. When it comes to creativity, Okocha edges. When it comes with the full package, offensive, defensive and controlling the midfield, Mikel tops and it is not even a debate.
Being the best player on the pitch in the Champions League finals against a Super Bayern Munich says it all. Oliseh already negates the need for Mikel plus the main reason why it’s so easy for Okocha to be in the team ahead of Mikel is that Okocha can single handedly win you games, freekick, goals, shots, can play corners, have long throws, can cause chaos if opposition decide to park bus. Abeg no talk this thing again o 😤 |

Jieta2: The way you oldies praise this 1994 set is tiring, I've been on Nairaland going for fifteen years now every time I come online before I read ten comments I must read something related to the 1994 set you guys have besieged these sports sections just like they have besieged the glass house that any coach the NFF hires if he doesn't play like the 1994 set or handle issues like they time they criticism him.
Apart from Stephen Keshi and to a long extent Samson sia sia what has the 1994 set contributed to our football is it Okocha that almost ruin delta state football or Sunday oliseh that almost destroy the super Eagles, or let's talk about ikpeba that is destroying Nigerian youth with his bet9ja nonsense, I don't even want to mention that one that almost ruin our world cup hope.
What did they achieve which have not been done, they won the Nations Cup and reached the knockout stage didn't the 2013 set equal the record what is so special about them that we will not hear a word? No vex sir but what’s the relationship between what he said and this thing you just typed |

Ebenezer Akinsanmiro can replace FDB.
Agu making the AFCON team roster was debatable. We'll make do with Zaidu and Bruno. Zaidu’s fitness is questionable, our depth in defense is really poor, we need to start rebuilding our squad |

Ragingthunder: Atalanta youngster, Honest Ahanor, the 17-year-old left-back, who only joined Atalanta this summer from Genoa, is now valued at €20 million, a career-high mark. However, despite his Italian upbringing, he remains eligible to play only for Nigeria, as Italian law no longer grant automatic citizenship to children born in Italy to foreign parents. He can only apply for citizenship after turning 18 and proving continuous residence. For now, Ahanor’s international future lies firmly in Nigerian hands. if it was Morocco they would have invited this guy for that U-20 World Cup |

I also hope he will be injury free but it caught my attention we solely rely on Osihmen. What happens if Osihmen is not available? What back up do we have ? solely relying on Osimhen isn’t a problem, a player as good as that can’t be replaced. |

TheSuperNerd: Meanwhile, Chrisantus Uche featured for Crystal Palace U21 today in their 5-2 loss vs Stevenage in the EFL Trophy (Southern Group E).
I dont like that Uche is limited to these underage games with Palace. Palace should pls let him leave on loan abeg. Uche was a sure starter in LA LIGA FOR GOODNESS SAKE. Handed the #10 shirt as well at Getafe but because they (Getafe) needed to cash in to ease their financial worries, Uche was pushed out against his original stance of not wanting to leave. Now his gametime suffers.
Since Oliver Glasner doesnt rate him, then loan him! he’s still young, I’ll prefer he spend the whole season there |

TheSuperNerd: Bruno Onyemaechi will never be our starting LB. He belongs to the reserves of the Super Eagles. Not even the bench.
Again, I laugh because Zaidu, a better LB, was undermined because of this Bruno. It is well. sometimes we need to cut coaches some slack when they perpetually bench some players, at a point Chelle preferred Aina at LB |
