PoliticsIfedayo PDP Elders Caucus Urges Residents To Participate In CVR by Jimsonjaat86(op): 1:58pm On Aug 17, 2025
The Elders’ Caucus of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ifedayo Local Government, known as the conscience of the party in the area, has called on all eligible residents to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The caucus emphasized that this is not just an exercise but a civic responsibility that will empower the people of Ifedayo and Osun State at large to renew and sustain the good works of Governor Ademola Adeleke beyond 2026.

Speaking on behalf of the caucus, the elders urged: "All residents of Ifedayo who have recently turned 18 years are encouraged to seize this opportunity to get registered and obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

"Those who have relocated to Ifedayo or wish to transfer their voter registration should take advantage of this window.

"Individuals whose PVCs are missing, defaced, or damaged can also apply for a replacement during this period.

The caucus further stressed that the voter’s card remains the most powerful tool for ensuring good governance, deepening democracy, and protecting the collective will of the people. They reminded citizens that active participation in the electoral process is the surest way to guarantee continuity of progress in Osun State.

They, therefore, appealed to community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and all stakeholders to mobilize massively and ensure that no eligible resident is left behind in this crucial exercise.

"Your voter’s card is your power. It is the voice that determines the future. Let us all come together and use this opportunity to strengthen democracy and secure a brighter future for Osun State," the statement concluded.
PoliticsOsun PDP Celebrates Oyo By-election Win, Says Adeleke’s Mandate Unshakable by Jimsonjaat86(op): 1:33pm On Aug 17, 2025
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has congratulated its Oyo State counterpart on the resounding victory recorded in the just concluded by-election for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, describing the outcome as another testament to the people’s rejection of failed leadership.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, on Sunday, the Osun PDP commended the people of Oyo State for once again demonstrating that sovereignty truly resides with the electorate in a constitutional democracy.

The party noted that the emergence of Hon. Folajinmi Oyekunle as the newly elected federal lawmaker reflected the “deep-seated resentment” against the All Progressives Congress (APC), which it accused of relying solely on “a pyrrhic federal might and violent plots to subvert the will of the people.”

“The people have spoken loudly in Ibadan North. This victory shows that no amount of intimidation or manipulation can prevail over the collective resolve of Nigerians who yearn for genuine representation,” the statement read in part.

The Osun PDP particularly saluted Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for what it described as his exemplary leadership and outstanding performance, which have continued to cement the bond between the PDP and the people of Oyo State.

Urging the people of Osun to draw strength from the triumph of their neighbours, Hon. Bisi stressed that no rigging plot by “failed politicians” can derail the popular mandate entrusted to Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

“Our Governor has kept faith with his promises. Osun people can be rest assured that Governor Adeleke will continue to deliver people-oriented policies because, to him, governance is about honouring the trust freely given by the electorate,” he said.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining grassroots development and strengthening the PDP’s grip on Osun, adding that the Ibadan North victory was a precursor to greater wins for the party across the South-West.
Nairaland GeneralOffa Students Build Iot Solutions In High-stakes Pre-summit Hackathon by Jimsonjaat86(op): 8:51pm On Aug 13, 2025
The Offa Technology Community (OTC) has successfully concluded its pre-summit Arduino Hackathon for secondary schools.

The Community as well set an exciting tone for the upcoming Offa Technology Summit scheduled for August 22 and 23.

The multi-day training, held at the ONE Innovation Hub (ONEIH) in Offa, brought together over 80 brilliant students to explore hands-on applications of Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics.

The hackathon kicked off with an introduction to the world of Arduino, guiding students from curiosity to creativity.

They were also taught how to write and deploy code, understand cloud integration via GitHub, and master the basics of version control with Git.

By Day Two, participants were already building their own code branches in the cloud. Thus, sparking collaboration and unleashing new levels of innovation.

On Monday, August 11, the programme moved into a highly practical phase. Students revisited key electronic components, learning their functions and how to connect them safely and effectively.

They then implemented real-world systems, including LED blinking lights, a traffic control model, motion detection, and a buzzer alarm system.

Each student practiced their wiring and programming skills, with performances graded to identify the most promising talents.

On Tuesday, August 12, the atmosphere turned competitive as the top 20 students, who were selected from earlier assessments, faced off in a 20-minute hackathon challenge.

They were tasked with creating a pedestrian traffic system using LEDs, buzzers, motion sensors, and the Arduino Nano.

By the end of the session, five outstanding finalists emerged, with the winners set to be officially announced at the main summit.

Speaking after the event, Bolajoko Habeeb, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, described the hackathon as “a powerful catalyst for digital literacy and creativity among young people in Offa.”

He added that the initiative was not just about teaching technology, but about “inspiring the next generation to see themselves as creators, problem-solvers, and leaders in the digital space.”

The pre-summit hackathon also featured moments of collaboration, hard work, teamwork, and innovation.

“With the summit just days away, the OTC has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering students, educators, leaders, and entrepreneurs with practical digital skills that will drive social and economic transformation in Kwara South, Kwara and Nigeria,” Bolajoko Habeeb.

Nairaland GeneralAkeem Ibrahim Adediji Uplifts Community, Supports Clerics, Needy With Millions by Jimsonjaat86(op): 9:06pm On Aug 10, 2025
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Adediji Construction Nigeria Ltd, Engr. Akeem Ibrahim Adediji has earlier today distributed a total of ₦3 million to support 200 Islamic clerics and 100 individuals living under challenging circumstances in Offa, Kwara State.

The gesture, which took place at his private residence, saw each of the beneficiaries receive cash support aimed at easing their economic burdens.

Adediji, while addressing the gathering, said the donation was part of his commitment to support religious leaders and vulnerable members of the society.

“This is my own way of giving back to the community and standing with those who are serving humanity and those who are struggling to make ends meet,” he said.

The murmurs of gratitude weaving through the air were punctuated by smiles that spoke volumes of relief and hope.

The cleric were among the first to receive their share, an acknowledgment of their spiritual leadership. Close behind were families living on the margins: widows, artisans, and small traders; these are individuals whose daily survival is a testament to perseverance in adversity.

In his address, Engr. Adediji explained, “This contribution is not a one-off event, nor is it a performative act. It’s anchored in my commitment to uplift those who sustain us spiritually and those whose struggles so often go unnoticed.”

He added that the initiative reflects a broader ethos: when prosperity meets purpose, the enduring testament of progress is seen in the welfare of the humblest among us.

This philanthropic episode is more than a monetary transaction; it’s a reaffirmation of communal ties. In societies like Offa, where social cohesion relies on faith leaders, caretakers, and everyday laborers, such acts of empathy resonate long after the last naira is counted.

Representatives of the beneficiaries, including some Islamic clerics, commended the philanthropist for the intervention, describing it as timely.

They prayed for his continued success and urged other well-meaning individuals to emulate the gesture.

NYSCClarification On Non-issuance Of Certificate Of National Service To Corps Ushie by Jimsonjaat86(op): 7:39pm On Aug 10, 2025
CLARIFICATION ON NON-ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE OF NATIONAL SERVICE TO CORPS USHIE RITA UGUAMAYE, STATE CODE NUMBER LA/24B/8325, BY THE NYSC

The NYSC Management wishes to clarify a misleading information circulating on social media regarding Corps Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, State Code number LA/24B/8325.

Contrary to false claims that she was denied a Certificate of National Service (CNS) due to critical remarks about the government, this assertion is entirely unfounded and false in its entirety.

Rita is among the 131 Corps Members whose Certificates of National Service (CNS), were withheld for valid disciplinary reasons. Specifically, Rita’s service year has been extended by two months for failing to attend the April 2025 biometrics clearance, a decision that aligns with the NYSC Bye-Laws.

It is important to note that this extension is a standard procedure and not unique to her case, and the principle of equal treatment was only applied in this case.

The NYSC Management thus urges the public to approach this matter with understanding, as extending service for non-compliance is a longstanding tradition within the NYSC and should not be politicized.

The NYSC Scheme remains committed to discharging its mandate, inline with the dictates of the constitution.

Hon. Taofeek Omoabass Mainasara also took a moment to express deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his commitment to the welfare of the people and his inclusive style of governance.

We are committed to doing more, reaching more people, and ensuring that no one is left behind in our collective journey toward progress and dignity.”

PoliticsKwankwaso’s Northern Advocacy Predates Tinubu’s Presidency by Jimsonjaat86(op): 4:31pm On Jul 30, 2025
The National Coordinator of the Kwankwaso National Network (KNN), Asiwaju Mashood Shittu, has come to the defence of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso amid recent national conversations surrounding alleged regional imbalance in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Shittu, who also served as the former National Chairman of the Alliance National Party (ANP) and is a prominent national figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), stated emphatically that long before politics drew its dividing lines, and before Tinubu’s emergence as President, Kwankwaso had been a consistent and courageous voice defending the rights and dignity of Northerners across Nigeria.

In a strongly worded statement made available to journalists today, Shittu said Kwankwaso’s commitment to Northern Nigeria predates Tinubu’s presidency by decades, and pointed to a litany of interventions where the former Kano State Governor stood for Northern interests in times of crisis.

According to him, Kwankwaso has never waited for political convenience or applause to act in defence of the North, adding that his track record spans over twenty years of frontline advocacy in Southern cities where Northern traders or communities have faced threats, injustice, or displacement.

He recalled how in March 2017, during the violent clash at Sabo Market in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Senator Kwankwaso visited the crisis scene alongside then-Governor Rauf Aregbesola to assess the situation firsthand and ensure Northern victims received justice.

Years earlier, in 2003, while serving as Minister of Defence under President Olusegun Obasanjo, Kwankwaso issued strong directives to Delta State authorities to protect Northern traders during ethnic unrest in Warri.

His consistent activism was also seen in 2012 during the Owode Onirin market evictions in Lagos, and again in 2016 during the Mile 12 market crisis, where he spoke out firmly against the targeting of Northern traders.

Shittu also highlighted Kwankwaso’s intervention during market disputes in Onitsha, Aba, Enugu, Agege, Ibadan, Akure, and Port Harcourt, spanning successive administrations from Presidents Obasanjo to Buhari.

In 2020, amid growing concern over prison congestion and injustice, Kwankwaso facilitated the release of 170 inmates across the country, many of whom were Northerners incarcerated for minor offences or held without trial.

He said this humanitarian act was not for show, but a deliberate move to address systemic injustices faced by the marginalized and the forgotten.

In 2022, during a widely viewed Channels Television interview, Senator Kwankwaso publicly decried the marginalization of Northern traders in Southern markets, calling for justice and equitable treatment for all Nigerians regardless of region or ethnicity.

According to Shittu, none of the presidents under whom these interventions occurred — Obasanjo, Jonathan, or Buhari — ever publicly condemned Kwankwaso’s actions.

“That’s because Kwankwaso’s interventions have always been principled, people-centred, and rooted in peace and national unity,” he said.

He emphasized that Kwankwaso’s reputation as a northern defender is not a recent fabrication but a lived reality for many displaced traders, market leaders, and communities who have witnessed or benefited from his courage and solidarity.

“Before there was Tinubu, before there was this noise, there was Kwankwaso — a man who stood up for the North when it wasn’t politically trendy to do so. That history cannot be erased or diminished,” he concluded.

PoliticsObokun, Oriade PDP Leaders To Fadahunsi, Oke: We’ll Reclaim The Mandate From You by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:21am On Jul 30, 2025
The leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Obokun and Oriade local government areas have issued a strong condemnation of recent verbal attacks and alleged sabotage targeted at Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

Rising from a high-level meeting, the party leaders expressed their displeasure over what they described as “unwarranted and provocative actions” by former PDP chieftain and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Wole Oke.

In a joint statement released after the meeting, the PDP leaders recalled Hon. Oke’s long-standing affiliation with the party, noting that he had benefitted from the platform since 2003. They described his recent actions and public comments as a betrayal of the very political structure that nurtured his career.

“When Hon. Wole Oke joined the PDP, he had little to his name. Through the grace of God and the unflinching support of party members, we stood by him, defended him, and helped elevate him. It is therefore disheartening to witness him turn around to attack the same platform that gave him relevance,” the statement read.

The party leaders issued a stern warning to Hon. Oke, urging him to desist from any further acts of provocation or political intimidation, stating clearly that “no one has the monopoly of confrontation.”

They also took a swipe at Hon. Oke and Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi over their recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as unilateral, self-serving, and a betrayal of loyal party members at the grassroots.

“At no point did they consult the party structure in Obokun and Oriade before making such a decision. It is a slap on the face of those who worked day and night under intense pressure and intimidation to secure their electoral victories. Their new alignment with the APC is a betrayal we will not forget,” the leaders said.

They further declared that the political mandate held by the defectors rightfully belongs to the PDP, and vowed to explore all legal avenues to reclaim what they called "the people's mandate."

In conclusion, the statement reaffirmed the unwavering loyalty of Obokun and Oriade PDP leaders to Governor Adeleke’s administration, pledging continued grassroots support and solidarity.

“We stand firm with His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke. We are the real politicians on the ground, tested, trusted, and deeply rooted. Let it be known: any attempt to destabilize the PDP in Ijesa land will be met with strong and lawful resistance,” the statement concluded.

The National President of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Comrade Biyi Adeyeye, has applauded the Osun State Government and the State House of Assembly for the passage of the Osun Electricity Market Bill into law.

Comrade Adeyeye described the legislation as a bold, transformative initiative capable of revitalizing Osun State’s economy while addressing the long-standing electricity supply challenges that have plagued the state and many parts of Nigeria for decades.

He particularly commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his visionary leadership in initiating and championing the bill, which he said has positioned Osun as one of the first subnational entities to fully embrace the constitutional amendment that removed electricity from the exclusive legislative list.

“This is a landmark achievement,” Adeyeye stated. “The passage of this bill shows that Osun State is forward-thinking and ready to take its economic destiny into its own hands. It opens the door for private and public sector investments in power generation and distribution, especially in off-grid and renewable energy systems.”

He noted that this development will not only attract both local and international investors, but will also create jobs, promote industrialization, and improve the quality of life for residents of Osun State.

“This is the kind of progress we have been advocating for over the years, for state governments to be allowed to design and implement their own electricity market frameworks. Now that the federal monopoly has been broken, Osun has shown others the way,” Adeyeye added.

The NUEE President emphasized that labor unions, particularly those in the power sector, are ready to collaborate with the Osun government in ensuring that the implementation of the new law protects workers' rights while also delivering improved electricity access to the people.

He called on other states to take a cue from Osun by enacting similar legal and institutional frameworks that will enable them to harness their energy potential for development and economic independence.

“Governor Adeleke and the Osun State House of Assembly have taken a courageous and commendable step. We urge them to ensure the speedy implementation of the law so that the people of Osun can begin to feel its positive impact in real time,” Adeyeye concluded.
PoliticsPro-senator Mustapha Group Berates Ilorin East Chair Over Project Blockade by Jimsonjaat86(op): 8:34pm On Jul 24, 2025
The Mallam Saliu Mustapha (MSM) Titans, a leading grassroots support group backing Senator Saliu Mustapha’s 2027 governorship ambition, has strongly condemned the comments and actions of the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Lukman Agbelere, who openly admitted halting a ₦200 million health project facilitated by Senator Mustapha.

In a statement made available to journalists, the group expressed disappointment over the Chairman’s remarks during a recent interview with Sobi FM, where he reaffirmed his earlier comments made at a political gathering. The MSM Titans described Agbelere’s position as “a glaring example of poor leadership and political recklessness.”

“It is saddening to find ourselves in this mess. This is what happens when leadership recruitment is driven by loyalty rather than competence,” the statement read. “The Chairman boasts of having funds to execute a project of such magnitude, but it is unfortunate that he has been deeply asleep and snoring, waiting for Senator Saliu Mustapha to wake him from his responsibility. How can money meant for public welfare be lying idle in the bank? Is it for accruing interest to benefit certain individuals later? These are questions we demand answers to.”

The group also faulted Agbelere’s personal attack on the senator. “He even went as far as saying, ‘I can stand toe-to-toe with Senator Saliu Mustapha,’ forgetting that public funds are not his personal property. We urge him to deploy public resources to meaningful projects for the people rather than grandstanding,” MSM Titans added.

Reacting to the Chairman’s statement that “the enemy of my boss is my enemy,” the group criticized the comment as unbefitting of a public office holder. “In any sane organization, conflicts may arise, but there are always mechanisms for resolution. What role has the Honourable Chairman played to reconcile the distinguished senator and His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, before taking sides? Instead, political sycophants thrive, heating up the polity unnecessarily,” the group said.

They reminded Agbelere of the role Senator Mustapha played in the re-election of Governor AbdulRazaq, urging him to focus on governance rather than petty politics. “Mallam Saliu Mustapha invested heavily in the party and its successes. Blocking projects that benefit the people because of political grudges is a grave disservice. Development should be complementary, not competitive. The Chairman should have allowed the senator’s project to go on and then prioritize other initiatives for his local government,” MSM Titans declared.

Calling for an end to what they described as “politics of bitterness and retrogression,” the group urged Agbelere to assemble a competent think-tank to identify abandoned and dilapidated projects across the local government. “This will ensure that Ilorin East residents get the dividends of democracy they deserve, instead of needless political drama. We say this in case the Honourable Chairman is spending more time in Abuja while Senator Mustapha continues to deliver capital projects at the grassroots,” it concluded.

THE FULL PRESS RELEASE IS REPRODUCED BELOW

The attention of this group (MSM TITAN) was drawn to the interview granted by the Chairman of Ilorin East at Sobi F.M., affirming an earlier statement he made at a political gathering.

MSM TITAN received this development with disappointment.

Firstly, it is saddening to find ourselves in this mess. This boils down to poor leadership recruitment in our society. The Chairman boasts of having funds in his coffers to execute any project of such magnitude, but it is unfortunate that this executive figure is deeply asleep and snoring, only to be woken up by Senator Saliu Mustapha from his irresponsible naivety.

How can money meant for public welfare be stacked in a bank? Is it for interest purposes and to benefit whom later? These are the questions that should be asked of the Honourable Chairman. He even personalised his statement: “I can stand toe to toe with Senator Saliu Mustapha.” He is oblivious of the fact that the money does not belong to him but to the public. Please advise him to make public funds useful for the people.

Mr. Chairman Sir, we also noted from your statement: “The enemy of my boss is my enemy,” and you later added that you do not care to know what transpired between the two political heavyweights.

In any sane organisation, there is bound to be conflict, and there should be mechanisms to address such issues at any point.

What role has this Honourable played to persuade his colleagues to intervene and resolve the perceived skirmishes between the distinguished Senator and His Excellency? Instead, political sycophants thrive. To what extent have you stretched the rope of reconciliation before now choosing to queue behind one of the two brothers against the other, from whom you might have benefitted in the past?

Mallam Saliu Mustapha invested so much in the party, which endeared people to the re-election of the Governor who later became your benefactor. Your action is nothing but heating up the polity. As the wise saying goes: “Silence is golden.”

We need to educate the Chairman that development in any society is complementary. You should have allowed the federal lawmaker to carry out the project and then consider other projects within your Local Government.

Let us stop the politics of bitterness and retrogression as compensation for the appointment of mediocrity to public offices. This is an insult to the collective intelligence of not only the people of that Local Government but the entire State.

Please remind the Chairman to employ a think-tank to provide him with a list of dilapidated projects and yet-to-be-identified virgin projects that are in dire need of attention for the benefit of his people. We are saying this in case the Honourable Chairman is residing in Abuja so that Senator Saliu Mustapha will not overtake him again in some other capital projects.

PoliticsKwara 2027: Senator Saliu Mustapha Meets Support Group, MSM Titans by Jimsonjaat86(op): 8:22am On Jul 03, 2025
The Mallam Saliu Mustapha (MSM) Titans, a prominent grassroots support group backing Senator Saliu Mustapha’s 2027 governorship ambition, met with the lawmaker yesterday to reaffirm their commitment to his vision for Kwara State.

The meeting which took place at the senator’s constituency office in Ilorin on Monday, brought together coordinators from across Kwara State’s sixteen local government areas.

The gathering served as both a strategy session and a show of solidarity for Senator Mustapha, who currently represents Kwara Central Senatorial District and holds the traditional title of Turaki of Ilorin Emirate.

Speaking at the meeting, Shehu Afunja, the MSM Titans State Coordinator, expressed the group’s dedication to mobilizing grassroots support for Senator Mustapha’s 2027 campaign.

He said, “We believe Mallam Saliu Mustapha has the capacity, vision, and track record to take Kwara to greater heights. Our coordinators are fully ready to engage every community across the state.”

PoliticsAsiwaju Mashood Shittu Holds Strategic Meeting With Kano Lawmakers by Jimsonjaat86(op): 12:23am On Jun 27, 2025
Asiwaju Mashood Shittu, the National Coordinator of the Kwankwaso National Network (KNN), has held a high-level strategic meeting in Abuja with two influential lawmakers from Kano State: Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, who represents the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, and Hon. Idris Dan Kawu, who represents the Kumbotso Federal Constituency.

The discussions, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, focused on critical national political issues and strategies for advancing the collective interests of their constituents and the broader Nigerian populace.

During the meeting, the trio exchanged views on strengthening party structures, deepening grassroots engagement, and fostering unity within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and allied progressive movements.

They also deliberated on current national challenges, including security, economic reforms, and the importance of inclusive governance to address the aspirations of ordinary Nigerians.

The lawmakers and the KNN coordinator reinforced the need for proactive legislative advocacy to ensure that developmental initiatives reach every part of Kano State and contribute to the overall advancement of Northern Nigeria.

Asiwaju Mashood Shittu, in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with elected representatives to uphold the ideals of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, particularly in championing policies that prioritize education, social welfare, and infrastructural development.

He emphasized that sustained collaboration among stakeholders is key to building a stronger, more equitable Nigeria.

The strategic meeting highlights ongoing efforts within the Kwankwasiyya movement to consolidate support for progressive leadership, mobilize resources for community-based projects, and position the NNPP as a formidable force in the nation’s political landscape.

PoliticsYouths Must Join The Roundtable — Shittu Speaks At Kaduna Political Dialogue by Jimsonjaat86(op): 8:22pm On Jun 25, 2025
As the countdown to the 2027 general elections begins, Asiwaju Mashood Shittu, the National Coordinator of the Kwankwaso National Network (KNN) and former National Chairman of the Alliance National Party (ANP), has called for a new political consciousness driven by Nigerian youths across party lines.

Shittu, who is also a national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), met with a group of politically active youths in Kaduna on earlier today, where he emphasized the need for collective engagement in shaping the future of Nigeria’s democracy.

Addressing the young participants drawn from various political parties, Shittu said the meeting was part of an ongoing consultative effort ahead of 2027.

He stressed the importance of cross-party collaboration, youth involvement, and long-term democratic planning.

“The future of this country cannot be left in the hands of only the elderly. It is time the youths are not just mobilised for elections but brought to the roundtable where real decisions are made,” he said.

He warned against a system where only former, current, or aspiring office holders are seen as custodians of national decisions, noting that this approach has often sidelined the people whose lives are most affected.

“We can no longer trust only politicians in office or aspiring ones with the destiny of millions. All of us must be part of the national conversation. By this, I mean young people, civil society, and emerging voices and others,” he added.

According to Shittu, the meeting in Kaduna is one of several planned interactions across Nigeria aimed at galvanizing youth action, building a new political narrative, and fostering democratic resilience beyond party affiliations.

LivingTrust Mortgage Bank: Adekilekun Disregards Governor Adeleke's Order, Sets To Become Board Chairman

Dr. Kamaldeen Adekilekun, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke, is set to defy the governor's order and emerge as the Board Chairman of the LivingTrust Mortgage Bank, InsightMedia has gathered.

This medium gathered that the governor's appointee's nomination as Non-Executive Director of the Bank was withdrawn via a letter signed by the Governor himself on March 26.

However, Adekilekun is set to participate at the Bank's Annual General Meeting slated for July 17 and will even be elected as a Non-Executive Director of the Bank, development that goes contrary to the order of the Governor.

A proxy form for the July AGM obtained by InsightMedia confirmed his proposed attendance.

The Ending drama

Adekilekun's nomination was withdrawn by Governor Ademola Adeleke via a letter he personally signed on March 26, 2025.

The letter, which was addressed to the Managing Director of the Bank, partly read, "I present to you the very warm compliments of the Government and People of Osun State.

"Please be informed that we write to withdraw the nomination of Dr. Kamaldeen Adekilekun as a State Director nominee on the Board of Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc with immediate effect. We shall communicate possible replacement in due course."

In a dramatic turn of events, a counter letter was sent to the Managing Director on April 17, 2025. The letter, signed by one Olusoji Wojuade, a permanent secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, urged the MD to disregard the letter earlier signed by the Governor.

The April 17 letter partly, "I write to re-present Dr. Kamaldeen Adekilekun, whose nomination was included in the list of the names of director nominees on the board of the Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc. earlier submitted to you by the Osun state government.

"It should be noted that Dr. Kamaldeen Adekilekun was voted as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc. by his counterparts on March 24, 2025 before the withdrawal of his nomination.

"This letter, therefore, conveys his re-nomination by the Osun state government, empowering him to function as a Director Nominee/Chairman of the Board of Directors.

"Please, note that the contents of this letter take precedence over the one, with reference number S.12/19/1/Vol.VI/194, dated March 26, 2025 sent to you, requesting for the withdrawal of his nomination."

However, after some internal discussions, Wojuade issued another letter to MD of the bank, where he upheld the Governor's decision to withdraw the nomination.

He said the letter was "erroneously released", stating that the nomination stands withdrawn in consonance with the order of the Governor.

The letter dated April 29, 2025 partly reads, "We refer to our letter dated 17th April 2025 on subject matter with reference number SS/EX/08/Vol. IV/72, which was erroneously released.

"After a careful consideration, the state has decided to further engage the CBN on the matter. The directorship of Dr. Kamaldeen Adekilekun stands withdrawn in reference to the letter dated 26th March 2025 signed by the Executive Governor, HE Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

"Whilst apologizing for the mix up, please accept the assurances of my highest regard."
HealthThe Bleeding Healthcare System: OAUTHC On The Brink Of Collapse by Jimsonjaat86(op): 11:15am On Apr 09, 2025
[OPINION] The Bleeding Healthcare System: OAUTHC on the Brink of Collapse

By Kabiru Taofeek

In the heart of Osun State lies one of Nigeria’s foremost tertiary healthcare institutions, the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC). Once a beacon of medical excellence, it now teeters on the edge of collapse due to an acute on chronic manpower shortage—a crisis that has been festering for years but has now reached a breaking point.

The consequences have been dire—overworked doctors collapsing in the line of duty, nurses suffering fatal stress-related illnesses, and an overwhelming sense of despair among the remaining staff struggling to keep the system afloat.

This investigative report, based on firsthand anonymous accounts, sheds light on the harrowing realities within OAUTHC and the urgent need for Federal Government intervention to prevent an impending catastrophe.

A Crisis of Manpower: Doctors and Nurses Pushed Beyond Limits

For years, OAUTHC has served as a referral centre for thousands of patients, yet the number of healthcare workers available to care for these patients has dwindled drastically. A combination of non-replacement of retired staff, mass resignations due to poor working conditions ("Japa" syndrome), and stagnant recruitment processes has left the institution critically short-staffed.

A senior medical practitioner, who spoke anonymously, revealed that several doctors have collapsed while on duty in recent months due to extreme exhaustion. Tragically, some cases have resulted in fatalities. The staff-to-patient ratio has become dangerously low, leaving those who remain stretched to their limits. "We are barely surviving," one doctor confessed. "Every shift feels like a battle for survival, not just for the patients but for us as well."

Unfathomable Losses: When Work Becomes a Death Sentence

One of the most shocking incidents in recent times is the tragic death of a nurse in the labor ward, who reportedly suffered a fatal subarachnoid hemorrhage after enduring an extended duty shift. Sources say she had been overworked, spending prolonged hours tending to patients under extreme stress before collapsing. Sadly, she never recovered.

Barely days after her tragic passing, another member of staff, a dental surgery technician, also lost her life—another casualty of a system that is stretching its workforce beyond the limits of human endurance.

A distressed staff member revealed, "The rate at which our colleagues are dying or falling ill due to stress is alarming. We work in an environment that is designed to save lives, yet we are losing our own in the process. How much more can we take?"

A System in Ruins: Overburdened Departments, Overstretched Staff

The entire hospital structure is on the verge of collapse, with departments barely holding together under the crushing weight of staff shortages.

- The Internal Medicine Department, a critical pillar of patient care, has only three junior registrars, an unimaginable figure for such a large department.
- In Surgery, many Junior and Senior Registrars are supernumerary residents from other centers, filling the gaps left by those who have resigned or transferred due to the inhumane working conditions.
- The Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G) Department is in shambles, as doctors and nurses continue to leave in droves.
- Ophthalmology clinics operate beyond reasonable hours, with doctors unable to get adequate rest due to a severe shortage of personnel.
- The Dental Center is also in a very terrifying state, struggling with a crippling lack of equipment and an acute staff shortage. etc.

- The Nursing Department is facing a crisis, as nurses in numerous wards and units, including high-pressure areas like Accident and Emergency, and Labour Wards, are now working 12-hour shifts, leading to severe burnout, neglect of self-care, and tragically, even death among some nurses.

But the burden is not just on doctors. Nurses, engineers, firefighters, cleaners, and other essential staff are all crying out under the weight of this institutional collapse. Complaints from every sector within the hospital ring the same alarm: the system is failing, and no one is listening.

The Domino Effect: Inefficiency, Medical Errors, and Institutional Collapse

Beyond the devastating health toll on workers, the quality of patient care has also suffered significantly. Patients wait longer for medical attention, surgeries are delayed, and critical cases are often left unattended due to the sheer inadequacy of available personnel.

A consultant in the hospital, speaking under anonymity, warned: "This is a ticking time bomb. The fewer the staff, the more the inefficiencies. The more inefficiencies, the more preventable deaths. If something is not done immediately, we may soon witness the total collapse of this institution".

A Plea for Urgent Government Intervention
It is imperative that the Federal Government steps in immediately to salvage the situation at OAUTHC before it spirals further into a humanitarian disaster. The following urgent actions must be taken:

- Mass recruitment of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel to bridge the dangerous staffing gap.

- Improved working conditions and staff welfare to stem the exodus of healthcare workers seeking better opportunities abroad.
- An immediate review of duty schedules to prevent another tragic loss of life due to burnout and extreme fatigue.

The Nigerian healthcare system cannot afford to lose more of its dedicated professionals to avoidable deaths, resignations, or migrations. The situation at OAUTHC is a microcosm of the larger crisis, facing public hospitals across the country. If this trend continues, who will be left to care for the sick?

The time for lip service and bureaucratic delays is over. The Federal Government must act now before OAUTHC becomes yet another casualty in Nigeria’s steadily crumbling healthcare system.

Lives are at stake.

The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa has commended the Management of National Youth Service Corps for its proactive and digitalized efforts in mobilisation process, towards curbing certificate racketeering involving some foreign trained graduates within West Africa.

He also hailed the Scheme for resolving the lingering issue of OND part-time graduates with full-time HND who were previously exempted from National Service.

The Minister stated this today when the Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.

Alausa stated further that efforts are on-going in the ministry to digitize the verification of foreign trained graduates of Nigerian origin.

He said the Ministry and NYSC would further strengthen their alliance towards the improvement of education for national development.

He advocated the deployment of more graduate teachers to serve in rural schools, saying this would fill the manpower gap in the schools.

The Minister also advocated for the extension of national service from one to two years, with the expansion of NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Training programme content for Corps Members.

"You have done so well as an organization. Let NYSC give people more opportunity to become job creators that will meet the needs of the country", he said.

Speaking earlier, the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Oluseye Nafiu lauded the Ministry's innovation and giant strides in the education sector.

He called for the establishment of a database of Nigerian youths going abroad to study for degree programmes, adding that this would help the government and other stakeholders in the education sector to have detailed records of Nigerian students studying abroad and also eliminate fake graduates.

"NYSC is ready to comply with policy guidelines as directed by the Federal Government. We are also trying to reform the Scheme to conform with the present national needs", he said.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan affirmed the Ministry's readiness to work with NYSC more effectively towards uplifting the standard of education in the country.

Nairaland GeneralHistory Of Igbaye, Osun State by Jimsonjaat86(op): 6:00pm On Aug 13, 2024
Igbaye, a town that was founded over 400 years ago by Nawonngan. Nawonngan was a direct descendant of Oranmiyan, the son of Oduduwa, who was born in Bida, Niger State. Due to royal circumstances, Nawonngan and his brother embarked on a journey from Bida to return to their ancestral homeland. They eventually settled in a place that became known as Igbaye, which translates to "Ibi-ti-o-gba-aaye" (Home of Tolerance).

The history of Igbaye is incomplete without acknowledging the authority conferred upon Nawonngan by the Alaafin of Oyo, who recognized him as the Oonile of all Yorubaland. The sacred symbols, Opaga and Oluro, were bestowed upon the Onigbaye of Igbaye, and these symbols have since been inherited by all eligible kings of Igbaye, marking them as true descendants of Oduduwa.

Over time, Igbaye has been blessed with a rich cultural heritage, producing educated elites, successful business figures, and individuals of significant influence in Nigeria.

The town has long been known within Odo-Otin as a home of hospitality and tolerance, especially in matters of religion and trade. However, Igbaye's peaceful coexistence was disrupted by attacks fueled by political and spiritual motivations.

The town's history is marred by internal and religious conflicts that resulted in the loss of many lives and properties. These tragedies were caused by the misguided ambitions and egocentric behaviors of individuals who, driven by narrow-minded desires for power, sought to divide and weaken our community. As the saying goes, "A true son of the soil will never join hands in destroying the land"—Onilu ko fe ko tu.

PoliticsAdeleke's Chief Of Staff Not A Director Of Akinkas Interbiz Ltd by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:49pm On Jul 28, 2024
A circulating fake news making the rounds on social media is a lie from the pit of hell as the Chief of Staff to the Osun State Governor, Hon Kazeem Akinkeye is not a director of Akinkas Interbiz Limited.

The company that is executing a contract of TETFUND at the Osun State University does not have Hon Akinleye as a Director as can be verified from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Hon Akinleye resigned from the company as a Director on September 1st, 2022 soon after he was appointed the Chief of Staff to Mr Governor.

The said company has not and is not handling any state contract. Rather the contract in question is a federal job within the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for which the company has all legal rights to handle.

We therefore urged members of the public to ignore the fake news which was designed to distract the state from its delivery of good governance.
