Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has urged lovers of the party in the state who already attained the constitutional age of 18 years to troop out en-mass and register as bonafide members of the party in Osun State. Similarly, the party has directed all existing members to also make use of the registration window to revalidate their membership of the party in the new register and the new membership cards. The state party chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi made the call while declaring open a one day workshop organized for the chairmen and secretaries in the 332 electoral wards in the state on the new registration, stating that the exercise became necessary to accommodate teeming members of the public yearning to become full members of the party and also to clean up the membership register for seamless administration purposes Hon Sunday Bisi enjoined leaders of the party in the 30 local governments to accord the registration exercise all the seriousness it deserves as party membership is no more a child's play in Nigeria's political landscape, reminding stakeholders of the party that political party registers have moved from a negligible record of fun to a matter of law in the nation's electoral jurisprudence. The new electoral act for instance, the chairman noted, has now empowered members of political parties at the ward level, to elect councilorship candidates for political parties in the local government elections. This Hon Sunday Bisi noted, would go a long way in reshaping governance at the grassroot level, as members of the society now have more say in governance process right at the heart of the grassroot where people reside. The registration exercise which has kicked off on Tuesday,11th of June, 2024, across the 332 wards in the state, will hold for 2 weeks as directed by the national secretariat of party. A glimpse at the new membership card showed a whole lot of improvements on the security features, including customized codes for each state and local governments unlike the general outlook of the past amongst several new innovations on the tech compliant card, which according to the PDP, would strengthen means of membership identity against vulnerability or undue duplicity. Leaders of the party across the local governments are expected to empanel monitoring committees for the membership registration to ensure ease of access of registration centers, not just in the ward headquarters, but also in major communities making up the wards. Signed Hon Sunday Bisi Osun State PDP Chairman 12/06/2024 |

𝘽𝙮 𝙊𝙡𝙪𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙮𝙞 𝘼𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙮𝙞 (𝘼𝙎𝙋) Osun Guber: Oyetola deserves no second term - Accord party. This headline was credited to the Accord Party before the 2022 governorship election in Osun state. The party stated that the cries of the state retirees over nonpayment of their entitlements are worrisome Accord party gave their reasons why Osun people should not vote for Mr Gboyega Oyetola because he lacks the needed leadership skills and capacity to move the state forward, noting that the administration of Mr Oyetola lacked human face. Before the Osun governorship election in 2018, I could remember how President Bola Ahmed Tinubu showcased Mr Oyetola to the people of Osun. At a point, President Tinubu described him as an encyclopedia of finance. He said Oyetola understands rudiment of good governance that he was going to change the fortune of the state if given the opportunity. After the abracadabra in 2018, he found himself on the seat, started administering the state. For his four years as the state governor, it was complaint upon complaint shrouded in phrases like, ''the economy is bad; the debts are much; the allocation is bad'' etc. The workers that were owed half salary, the "encyclopedia of finance" kept dribbling them, claiming that the economy wasn't improving hence he couldn't offset the debt. This and many other reasons informed the decision of Osun people to sack him from office in 2022. The margin between him and Ademola Adeleke (PDP candidate then, now the Governor) was massive. He contested the outcome in court, he failed. Fast forward to 2023 after the general elections. He couldn't win Osun for his brother, Tinubu; he couldn't win just a seat at the Senate neither was he able to return that beautiful sister, Mrs Taiwo Oluga to her seat at the House of Representatives. He led his party to abysmal failure in the state. He lobbied, used the family ties to get appointment from his brother, President Tinubu. He was taken to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to superintend. Sadly, among the non-performing Ministers, Mr Oyetola's name appeared. I am very sure, President Tinubu is disappointed in the capacity of his younger brother, Oyetola. If the likes of Wike could be leading the table of those who performed, what excuse does Mr Oyetola has for his abysmal performance? Anyway, his men in Osun know how to paddle him by calling him a "Silent Achiever" Dr. Abdul actually tore the Ministers into shreds, the performing ones were praised while the docile ones who have no reason being in the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu were brought down heavily, notably among, Adegboyega Oyetola, former Governor of Osun State was derided for inactivity in his ministry. No doubt, it is a national disgrace that the person who represents Osun state at the Federal Executive Council performed woefully, I will urge President Tinubu to act his word, by replacing those who aren't doing enough. This is not the time for try and error. With his (Oyetola) abysmal performance at the national, people can now see that Osun citizens didn't make a mistake by voting him out of office in 2022. Today, what they said was not possible while they were here in Osun, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke is making it possible. Do you want to talk about the gigantic capital projects going across the state? Construction of roads, even the ones he abandoned, Adeleke is doing it. Construction of five (5) flyovers at a go, it's unprecedented. And this does not stop other sectors - health, education, payment of workers, promotion of workers, offsetting the over N500bn inherited by his government, paying retirees their entitlements, etc. Today, the people of Osun can now see the difference between the administration of Oyetola (the encyclopedia of finance) and that of Adeleke. The difference is clear. With Ademola Adeleke as the Pathfinder, Osun has already moved out of Egypt and progressively shining in the comity of States in Nigeria. A concerned group, the Oris Solidarity Forum, has announced a three-day fast and intense prayer session for Hon. Kanmi Ajibola, the lawmaker representing the Oriade State Constituency, citing his poor performance in office. The group, comprised of young people committed to the development of Oriade Local Government Area (LGA), is urging constituents to join the spiritual exercise aimed at invoking divine intervention. The decision follows a two-week ultimatum issued to Ajibola, communicated through social media and his personal associates. Despite multiple efforts, including criticisms and direct engagements, the lawmaker has remained unresponsive, according to Wale, the leader of the Oris Solidarity Forum. "We are deeply dissatisfied with the neglect our constituency has endured over the past year," Wale stated. "Hon. Ajibola, who has aspired to be a state legislator since 2007, has shockingly remained incommunicado, with no significant records of communal engagement." The group expressed particular disappointment that the lawmaker's only notable contribution thus far has been the change of the state slogan and logo, actions they deem inconsequential to the immediate needs of the Oriade constituency. "Given the dire economic conditions and the silence from our representative, we believe there might be dark forces at play," Wale added. "As a community rooted in faith, we are turning to God, seeking His intervention where all else has failed." The Oris Solidarity Forum emphasized the gravity of the situation, appealing to the public to join in the fasting and prayers. "Our people are suffering in silence," Wale said. "This is not a time for jokes; we are facing a serious spiritual struggle. We need everyone to participate in this divine plea for our constituency's deliverance." THE FULL STATEMENT IS REPRODCED BELOW OPERATION SAVE ORIADE STATE CONSTITUENCY ORIADE: Group asks constituents to fast and pray for the lawmaker over terrible performance in office A group of young people who are interested in the growth and development of Oriade LG, called the Oris Solidarity Forum, has declared a 3-day fast and intense prayer for Hon. Kanmi Ajibola, a lawmaker representing Oriade State Constituency, over his poor performance in office. The call for fasting and prayer was born after a two-week ultimatum was given to the lawmaker, which was communicated to him via tagging on social media and through his friends. The forum, through her leader, Wale, while expressing her dissatisfaction over the neglect the good people of Oriade constituency have suffered in the last year, further stated that several attempts, such as criticisms and personal engagements, among others, to awaken the lawmaker from 'legislative slumberness' did not work. The forum disclosed that it is shocking that Kanmi Ajibola, a lawyer and someone who has desired to be a state legislator since 2007, could be incommunicado and have no records of communal engagements with his people. The forum acknowledged that the only participation of Kanmi Ajibola that is known to the constituents is the change of the state slogan and logo, which have no impact on the constituency. While appealing to the public to participate in the fasting and prayers for the benefits of Oriade constituency, the forum stated that there's a possibility that there are some dark forces possibly responsible for this sad development, and as a constituency whose belief lies in God, we are not ready to joke with possible spiritual struggles. We resort to God after every attempt to awaken our beloved legislator does not work. Our people are suffering in silence. Being neglected for a whole year in this hard economy is very worrisome. We ask you all to join us in the fast and intense prayers, Wale added. Signed: Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo Oris Solidarity Forum |
"This is our Pride. The neglect of this agency by the past government is condemnable and reprehensible." "I see urgent needs for new broadcasting equipment, action is ongoing on that line." “For the 66 freelancers waiting to be absorbed, your day of joy is near. This visit is an eye opener; I understand the urgency. Be assured of accelerated actions." These were part of his words when Governor Ademola Adeleke visited the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) last year. He registered his displeasure over the deplorable condition of the Corporation's equipment and facilities, and he promised to resuscitate the stations. Recall that the Government of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola that took over from Chief Akande, upgraded OSBC to a conglomerate with OSBC Radio Orisun 89.5 FM basically transmitting only in Yoruba language while the Television in Ibokun channel 22 UHF became New Dawn TV for Education and Agriculture. The Radio and Television in Osogbo, the headquarters became Living-Spring FM 104.5 FM and Channel 32 UHF Television in Osogbo. The government of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola also in 2006 started work on resuscitating the long abandoned Iwo Broadcasting Village which later gave birth to Reality RadioVision Iwo in January 2008. Before then the administration had changed the headship of the broadcast outfit from that of General Manager to Director General to make it commensurate with the organization’s conglomerate status. On the 29th of May 2023, Osun State Governor, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke approved the status of the Director General to a Permanent Secretary. This is unprecedented in the history of the Corporation. This is a Corporation that was abandoned by the previous administrations in the state, thereby reducing a one time "Voice Of The West" to just a community media outfit. This and many other reasons spurred Governor Adeleke to revamping the Corporation. Shortly after his working visit to lle Awiye Headquarters last year, His Excellency directed his Special Adviser on OSBC Matters, Dr. Femi Adefila to begin process on how to get digital transmitters for the stations, OSBC Ile-Awiye, Orisun FM and RealityRadioVision, Iwo. When the news broke out, some members of the opposition in the state said it is impossible, perhaps because this has been their song for many years "It's impossible". On 22nd May, 2024, the new digital equipment and transmitters were commissioned by Governor Ademola Adeleke in the presence of people who gathered in their number to witness the event. While delivering his goodwill message, Dr. Yemi Farounbi, former OSBC Board Chairman and a doyen of Media Management in Nigeria, took Governor Adeleke down the memory lane on how his elder brother, the first Executive Governor of Osun State, Late Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke set up a committee which was chaired by Dr. Yemi Farounbi, to give his government a roadmap on how to properly set up the media house. The same legacy Governor Ademola Adeleke is following today as he is rejuvenating the Corporation back to life. The new six (6) transmitters and studio digital equipment cost the state government over N1.2bn, but because of the love the Governor has towards the media, he frontally approved it. OSBC Ile-Awiye studio is now digitalised; Orisun Fm in Ile-Ife is now digitalised; Reality RadioVision in Iwo is now digitalised. To climax the love he has towards people, the Asiwaju of Ede land put an end to the agony of the 66 freelancers in the corporation who have been on the queue waiting to be permanent for over 15 years. The moment Mr Governor announced the approval of these set of individuals, the venue was thrown into a wild jubilation and tears dropped from my eyes, because they are my colleagues. I was once a freelance staff, years back. This approval alone has made people of the state to be convinced that truly the previous government of Gboyega Oyetola lacked human face, if not, what stopped him from converting these people into full-fledged staff of the Corporation while he held sawy sway as the Governor of the state for four years? To the glory of God and with the support of the people's Governor, Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) is back to life and now on a new transmitters with digital studios. Kudos to Omo Balogun. Oluwaseyi Adeniyi is the Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media

Dr Adetola Ariyike Salau: Outstanding Kwara SA Education with a Motherly Approach in Discharging Her Duties By Sarafadeen Abdullahi Olamide (El-Sharaf) Education in Kwara has always been one of the major industries in the state, as the state is not blessed with many mineral resources compared to some other states in Nigeria. With the development rocking the education sector, it is important to applaud the state governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for selecting the best hands for the job. At least in that aspect, he deserves accolades, even though I disagree with him in other areas. With the appointment of Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau as Special Adviser on Education in Kwara, one can conclude that the era of retrogressive development in the education sector has been put to rest. Ever since her appointment, Dr. Adetola has been moving from one place to another, within and outside the country, not for vacation, fashion parades, or sightseeing but for the purpose of building social capital to facilitate development in the sector. In less than one year of her appointment, Ariyike has achieved many landmarks and facilitated many partnerships with local and international organizations, groups, and foundations to invest in Kwara education. Several programs have been anchored and various kinds of empowerment initiatives have been undertaken, including Girl Child Support, STEM, distribution of educational materials, and scholarship awards. These initiatives aim to ensure that every Kwara citizen, irrespective of age, gender, or locality, has access to and develops an interest in education. With these achievements, one can deduce that Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau is active in discharging her duties and is an excellent, oriented individual. Consolidating the trend and pride, there is a clear indication that Dr. Adetola is an academician who values education and prioritizes it. Her open-door policy, relationship with students across various institutions, and her willingness to mingle with and support every child within the educational environment explain her motherly approach to discharging her duties as Special Adviser on Education. In fact, Ariyike is a strong advocate for educational development and believes that every child counts, making her an outstanding mother in the educational environment. The wonders performed by Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau do not involve magic or abracadabra methods of working her way through; rather, they involve her intellectual way of presiding over public-related matters, her genius way of reciprocating love and respect, her confidence in addressing the public, her composed and articulate spoken English and Yoruba, and her exceptional ways of building networks to attract development. All these attributes show that her doctorate degree is not an honorary award but was achieved through excellent performance in her academic career. Ariyike stands out among women who see political platforms as an avenue to advance their social life by throwing parties, enjoying expensive luxuries, and misbehaving all in the name of power. Instead, she has used her office to help, raise the poor, and advocate for equity and fairness in the distribution and allocation of resources. Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau is a blessing to womanhood, and I wish other women within and outside the political system would emulate her.

By Abdulfatai Tomori Death, a natural occurrence that cannot be avoided, brings about feelings of sorrow, regret, and mourning. It is a universal phenomenon that does not discriminate between the rich and the poor. In its unpredictable nature, it often spares the wicked and claims the virtuous. This reminds us of the Yoruba adage, "Igi toto kii pe n'gbo," which translates to "Impeccable trees do not live long in the forest." Today, we mark the first anniversary of the passing of Professor Jimoh Moshobalaje Oyawoye, a distinguished geologist, esteemed academic, and an icon in Nigeria's education landscape. His departure was deeply felt, not only within the academic community but also throughout the entire nation. On this occasion, we take a moment to reflect on his significant contributions, enduring legacy, and the lasting impact he had on generations of scholars. Professor Mosobalaje Oyawoye, born on August 12, 1927, in Offa, Kwara State, displayed remarkable brilliance from a young age. After completing his primary education at United School Esa-Oke, under the guidance of Headmaster Boda Popoola, Prof. Oyawoye became one of the pioneer students at Offa Grammar School (OGS). He continued his education at Ibadan Grammar School, completing his secondary education in 1949. His passion for knowledge and insatiable curiosity led him to pursue a career in geology. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Washington State University in the United States in 1959. Subsequently, he pursued further studies at the University of Durham in the United Kingdom, obtaining a Ph.D. in Geology in 1956. Upon returning to Nigeria, Professor Oyawoye embarked on a distinguished career at the University of Ibadan. He began as a lecturer and quickly rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Geology within a span of six years, becoming the first African Professor of Geology in 1966. Two years later, he was appointed Head of the Geology Department at the University. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in strengthening the academic and research excellence that propelled the University of Ibadan to international recognition. Professor Oyawoye made significant contributions to the field of geology. He devoted his life to the study of Nigeria's geological formations and played a crucial role in establishing the Department of Geology at the University of Ibadan. This was of utmost importance due to the emerging petroleum industry and the shortage of skilled workers in the country. As Chairman of the OAU Team of Experts in the Inter-Africa Centre for Earth Sciences, Professor Oyawoye increased awareness among African countries regarding the economic value of comprehensive geological surveys conducted by indigenous geologists. His efforts were particularly beneficial to Eastern and Southern African countries that heavily rely on mining. Nigeria's remarkable achievements in the petroleum industry came earlier than anticipated, validating Professor Oyawoye's foresight. His successful academic and professional career will undoubtedly continue to serve as an inspiration to numerous aspiring scholars. Professor Jimoh Mosobalaje Oyawoye was not only a rare role model but also a trailblazer. He mentored and produced many students who now occupy prominent positions in the mining and petroleum industries. It is no wonder that Prof. Oyawoye is lovingly referred to as the "Father of Geology" in Nigeria. Baba Oyawoye was highly regarded as one of Nigeria's esteemed intellectuals, as well as being recognized as one of Africa's most cherished contributions to the world. The extensive recognition he received through numerous awards demonstrates the weight and significance of his accomplishments. Professor Oyawoye made substantial contributions to the advancement of humanity, which undoubtedly justified the various awards he received. His impact reached far beyond his distinguished position as the first professor of geology in Africa. He was a true pioneer, leaving an indelible mark on the field of geology and making meaningful contributions to various organizations. Notably, he held the prestigious distinction of being the first African member of the Board of the International Geological Correlation Programme. This esteemed position acknowledged his expertise and global influence within the field. Additionally, he served as the founding president and first fellow of the Geological Society of Africa, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the geological community. Professor Oyawoye's contributions extended beyond academic achievements. He played a pivotal role as the first coordinator of the Institute of Applied Science and Technology at the University of Ibadan, where he played a key role in shaping the curriculum and fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation. His leadership and vision laid the foundation for future advancements in applied science and technology in Nigeria. Moreover, Professor Oyawoye made significant contributions to education and research institutions. His achievements as a former national secretary and later national president of the Offa Descendants Union (ODU) exemplified his dedication to community development. Notably, his instrumental role in the establishment of the Summit University in Offa highlights his vision and commitment to advancing education in his hometown. Additionally, the magnificent Central Mosque of Offa came to fruition through his initiative and fundraising efforts, supported by individuals who shared his passion for community development. Equally noteworthy is his role as the former Kwara State Chairman of Jama'atu Nasir Islam (JNI). He single-handedly completed the JNI Central Mosques in Ilorin and Offa, displaying his unwavering commitment to religious and communal infrastructure development. His dedication led to his turbaning as Balogun Imole (leader of Muslims) in Offa and the first Baba Adinni of Kwara State, recognizing his influential leadership within the religious community. For over four decades, Professor Oyawoye devoted himself to improving the lives of his community members, earning widespread appreciation for his achievements. His wise counsel has been sought in various aspects of community life in Offa, reflecting the profound impact he has had on the development and progress of the community. In addition to his community leadership, countless scholars and professionals have benefited from his mentorship, ultimately making their mark in various sectors. As a teacher, he was known for his exceptional commitment to his students, pushing them to excel academically and nurturing their research skills. Many have regarded him as a mentor, guide, and father figure who played a pivotal role in shaping their careers. The multifaceted impact of Professor Oyawoye's legacy serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence, leadership, and community development. His contributions to geology, academia, and society as a whole will forever serve as a guiding light, inspiring and shaping generations to come. As we commemorate the one-year anniversary of Professor Oyawoye's untimely departure, it is incumbent upon us to carry forth his legacy. We must continue to uphold his vision of academic excellence, environmental stewardship, and leadership in the pursuit of knowledge. It is through our collective efforts that we can pay tribute to a man who dedicated his life to the betterment of our nation. Professor Mosobalaje Oyawoye's presence is still deeply felt, and his absence is mourned. His contributions to geology, academia, and society as a whole will forever serve as a guiding light, inspiring and shaping generations to come. May his memory continue to motivate us to strive for greatness, to be curious in our pursuit of knowledge, and to leave a lasting impact on the world. The visit marks a continuation of discussions initiated last year (2023) regarding the same development goals. Uthman Mahroof Olanrewaju, the Chief Executive Officer of Wolf Group, expressed enthusiasm about the project. "We were here last year when our office was still in Kwara state, before our branch in Osogbo now, for this same project. "Furthermore, we heard that you want those who will come to develop the town with you not to come and acquire your land and do nothing to it and we are happy to say we key into the same ideology as you." Olanrewaju emphasized that the collaboration would be mutually beneficial, highlighting the potential for significant growth and shared prosperity between the company and the community. Oba Adefemi Mutolib Abiade II welcomed the company's interest, reiterating his commitment to the kingdom's development. "The town is not yet fully developed. Following the meeting, the King directed his cabinet to escort the representatives from Wolf Group to survey potential land sites in the community, underscoring his proactive approach to ensuring that the land is put to good use for the benefit of Abeere. This partnership signals a promising step forward in the development of Abeere, with the Wolf Group poised to contribute significantly to the region's growth and infrastructure. |
The People's Democratic Party (PDP), Osun State Chapter has officially clarified that the duo of Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi and Omooba Dotun Babayemi have officially ceased to be members of the party. This was contained in different press releases by the executives of the party in Ayedire and Ayedaade local government areas of Osun State. According to Mr. Salawu Isiaka (Chairman), Mrs. Ayankunle Bose (Secretary) and Mr. Yinka Asafa (Youth Leader) of Ward 5, Ileogbo 1, Ayedire Local Government, Dr. Ogunbiyi has not been affiliated with the party since March 2022. The party claimed Dr. Ogunbiyi resigned to pursue his governorship ambition under the Accord Party, where he secured only 4,515 votes in the 2022 gubernatorial election, a result that did not impact the PDP's chances of victory. "After his unsuccessful bid, Dr. Ogunbiyi attempted to return to the PDP, approaching ward leaders with a request for reinstatement. However, his plea was met with a unanimous refusal from the ward leaders, who emphasized their commitment to party loyalty and integrity. "Further efforts by Dr. Ogunbiyi to re-establish his position within the PDP included an attempt to join the presidential campaign committee for the 2023 General Election. This move was strongly opposed by party members in Ward 5, who reiterated that he was no longer a member. "The PDP wishes to emphasize that Dr. Ogunbiyi has had no affiliation with the party since his resignation in March 2022 and has played no role in its subsequent successes. The members and leaders of Ward 5, Ayedire Local Government, have maintained their stance, reflecting their dedication to maintaining the party's unity and strength. In the same vein, executives of the party in Ward 2, Ayedaade Local Government Area, said Omoba Dotun Babayemi was expelled from the party in 2022. According to a statement by Chief Awodeji Julius (Chairman) and Bukayo Ogunleye (Secretary), Babayemi's actions, which led to his expulsion, were in direct conflict with the values and principles upheld by the PDP. Consequently, any association of Babayemi with the PDP by political entities, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), is misleading and inappropriate, as Babayemi has since joined the APC. "The expulsion of Dotun Babayemi was a result of his continuous actions that undermined the integrity and unity of the PDP and contradicted the will of the Osun people. The decision to expel him followed the party's constitution and disciplinary procedures, ensuring the PDP's commitment to its members and supporters. Notably, Babayemi had been actively involved with the APC even before his official expulsion from the PDP. "Babayemi's ongoing attempts to leverage the PDP's name for political gain while aligning with another party are unfounded. The PDP remains focused on its mission and will not be distracted by the tactics of individuals who have severed ties with the party. Babayemi’s efforts to manipulate public perception by invoking the PDP's name are recognized as mere attempts to garner attention during his transition to the APC. The PDP, dedicated to advancing its agenda and serving the people's interests, urges the public and media to acknowledge the factual history of Babayemi’s expulsion and his current political stance. "The PDP is committed to its principles and will continue to pursue its goals without interference from former members who have chosen to depart from the party’s ideals." |
The PDP Leaders of Ward 13, Odo Otin Local Government, have described the official resignation of Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun as long overdue, citing his recent questionable actions against the party. His resignation comes as a relief to Ward 13 members who have long seen his actions as detrimental to the party's cohesion and success. Alhaji Oyedokun has never been a faithful member of the PDP since his return. His activities have often suggested a lack of genuine commitment to the party's goals and ideals. Many have observed that his actions and rhetoric frequently aligned more closely with those of the opposition, leading to internal strife and discontent among the PDP ranks in the ward. His apparent disloyalty and conflicting interests have rendered him a polarizing figure, ultimately causing more harm than good to the party's unity and effectiveness. Since his return, Alhaji Oyedokun has lost significant political relevance within the PDP. His influence has waned considerably as party members grew increasingly frustrated with his inconsistent stance and lack of dedication. This erosion of his political clout has been evident in his diminishing ability to rally support or sway opinions within the party. Consequently, his departure is seen by many as a long-overdue resolution to an ongoing issue that has hindered the PDP's progress and strategic initiatives. Notably, Alhaji Oyedokun worked against Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2022 gubernatorial election. His opposition to the party's candidate was a clear indication of his divergent interests. During the last election, he attempted to convince members of his ward to defect to the APC, although he did not succeed in this endeavour. His actions during these critical periods accentuated his lack of allegiance to the PDP and contributed to his declining influence and a sign of his newfound partners of anti-development. With his departure, the party can now move forward without the internal friction that his presence caused. This shift is expected to bring more members into the PDP, as the ward can now focus on strengthening its unity and collective efforts. The departure of what many considered a 'leech' from the ward is anticipated to invigorate the party's base and enhance its appeal to new and existing members, fostering a more cohesive and committed political community. Signed: Mr. Arisekola Abiodun - Chairman Alfa Folorunso Akeem - Secretary Jagun/Osi Baale ode ward 13. Inisa |
In a dramatic turn of events, the Ministry of Power has been shut down by the two in-house electricity unions; National Union of Electricity Employees NUEE and Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies SSAEC, with immediate effect. The unions, representing thousands of workers in the power sector, have taken this drastic measure in protest of the ministry's noncompliance with their pressing demands. According to sources, the unions had issued an ultimatum to the government, warning of an impending strike if their demands were not met. However, the government failed to address the issues, prompting the unions to take action. The shutdown is expected to have far-reaching implications, including power outages, economic losses, and some other categories of inconveniences. The government is yet to respond to the shutdown, but sources indicate that emergency meetings are underway to address the crisis. Details shortly... |
Unfazed by the orchestrated drama by the opposition APC to shore up it's bad fortunes in Osun State, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party has expressed what it termed as vindicative satisfaction over its long term stance against some individuals who the party had identified as parasites and agents of invasive subjugation collaborating with enemies of Osun State to suffocate the good vision of the founding fathers. The PDP again urged the people of Osun State not to lose sleep over the formal realignment of some political traders, whose round tripping business of feeding fat on the common patrimony of the state was decisively halted through the July 16 2022 governorship election. The PDP believe the inglorious antecedents of the disillusioned dramatis personae involved in the soap opera of Self Pleasuring are in public court. Such individuals like Mr Dotun Babayemi and his ilk have since been put in their place long before now and have ceased to be members of our party right before the 2022 governorship election. We however understand that Osun PDP's image stock is so huge that impressionists like Babayemi must clinge onto, deceiving themselves as decamping from the ruling party. We hold that self help may not be unusual with desperate politicians but self deceit is a sign of ominous trouble! Tagging people you know you have worked with to fight the PDP, right when the party was in opposition, as defectors from the same party that floored you inside out, is simply put, a terminal symptom of APC s life-limiting illness. Or is it not self deceit taken too far to say that one Akin Ogunbiyi who was sponsored to contest the last governorship election in the state on the banner of Accord Party is also defecting from the PDP? Someone the PDP was confident enough to refuse his reabsorption into the the party after his failed Accord voyage? The same Ogunbiyi whose electoral worth was put to test with Accord and scored paltry 4 thousand votes or thereabouts including those of his polling agents? Or the octogenarian Shuaibu Oyedokun who has been a liability to himself, living on samaritan gestures of the PDP over the years based on his age? A man who had no record of performance at his electoral unit, let alone his community? That is not a character to be missed by a strong political institution like the PDP. Osun people are assured that the PDP train of victory recorded in recent elections in Osun State, is indivisibly intact. The people's Governor, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is also unperturbed by the distractive antics of the never do wells, whose mission to end Osun State economically has since been defeated. All developmental plans put in place by his Excellency, the Executive Governor would continue to form the fulcrum of the PDP administration and will be executed religiously for the wellbeing of all and sundry. Signed Hon Sunday Bisi Osun State PDP Chairman 17/05/2024 |
Honourable Azeez Oyeyemi Olanrewaju Omoluabi has celebrated Honourable (Prince) Abdulwahab Femi Agbaje Whyte on his appointment as Adviser on Political Matters to the Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
