PoliticsAgain, Gov Ademola Adeleke Endorsed For Second Term In Office by Jimsonjaat86(op): 6:14pm On Jun 27
The Osun State Civil Society Campaign Committee and members of the Osun Diaspora community have endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term, while condemning the recent wave of political violence and killings across the state.

The endorsement was conveyed in a statement issued on Saturday by Owolabi Adedolapo, President of the Parapo of Osun Bonafide Indigene Community Association (also known as Imole Osun Parapo Community Malaysia) and a member of the Osun State Civil Society Campaign Committee.

The statement was signed by Owolabi Adedolapo, President of the Parapo of Osun Bonafide Indigene Community Association (Imole Osun Parapo Community Malaysia) and member of the Osun State Civil Society Campaign Committee and made available to News Bulletin Nigeria.

The group expressed deep concern over what it described as the alarming rise in politically motivated violence, claiming that more than 10 people were killed across different parts of Osun State in June 2026, with several others sustaining gunshot injuries.

Among those remembered by the group were Ezekiel Olapade of Irepodun Local Government, Ajayi Aderogba (popularly known as Rogba) of Obokun Local Government, and Kolade Eluyera of Irewole Local Government.

Describing the killings as unacceptable, the group lamented that young people were becoming victims of violence allegedly aimed at intimidating the electorate.

"No political ambition is worth the blood of a single citizen. You cannot kill the very people you seek to govern," the statement read.

The diaspora group urged the Osun State chapter of the APC to shun violence and avoid actions capable of throwing the state into crisis. It maintained that Governor Adeleke deserves another term in office, citing what it described as his administration's developmental strides and ongoing people-oriented projects.

The statement also called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities without fear or favour by ensuring the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killings, as well as anyone found to have sponsored the attacks.

The group concluded by urging all political stakeholders to caution their supporters and embrace peaceful democratic engagement ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
CultureStop Parading Yourself As Aree Of Iree Town In Disregard Of Court Judgment, Oyel by Jimsonjaat86(op): 1:11pm On Jun 26
Stop parading yourself as Aree of Iree town in disregard of court judgment, Oyelakin warned

Prince Muritala Oyelakin and stakeholders in Iree, a major town located in Boripe Local Government in Osun State have been warned against disregarding a valid judgment of the court over Aree of Iree stool.

Recall that Justice M. O. Awe of an Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, in a judgment delivered over the illegal emergence of Prince Muritala Oyelakin, unequivocally declared that the stool of Aree remains vacant and no one should parade himself as the Aree of Iree.

Justice Awe, while delivering the judgment on May 14, 2024, had ordered the Osun State Governor against installing Oyelakin and releasing staff of authority of the town to him.

The court had also barred Oyelakin from parading himself as the Aree until the substantive matter presently in court is done with.

Following the order, the state governor had shelved plans of installing Oyelakin till date.

However, in defiance to the judgment, it was alleged that Oyelakin had been parading himself as the traditional ruler of the town and appointing chiefs.

Meanwhile, reacting to some remarks by some stakeholders who were alluding that there is someone presently occupying the exalted throne of Aree, a Prince from Olubonku ruling House of Iree, Prince Ali Afolabi, warned Oyelakin against flouting the orders of the court.

Afolabi said it would be embarrassing for the respected town of Iree if stakeholders continue to flagrantly disregard valid pronouncements of courts even when the state government who are joined in the case and ordered not to install Oyelakin had retrained itself by not presenting staff of office to him.

The Prince, in a statement issued on Friday, harped on the need for sons and daughters of Iree to respect the rule of law and ensure that all they do are not clashing with the dictates of subsisting valid court judgments.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal has slated the matter numbered No:CA/AK/55/2026 for full hearing on December 3, 2026.

The suit, holding in Akure is between Prince Ali Afolabi as the Claimant/Appellant and the Governor of Osun State, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun, Boripe North Local Council Development Area, Chief Sobolaje Alao (The Osolo of IreeLand), Chief Salui Atoyebi (The Aogun of IreeLand), Chief James Adebisi Bankole (The Jagun of IreeLand) and Prince Muritala Oyelakin as the Appellants/Respondents.

Afolabi is seeking for an order of the appelate court to declare the selection or election of Oyelakin as null and void because it was participated by non-kingmakers as against the native law and custom of Iree among other reliefs.
PoliticsOsun:youths Condemn Political Killings by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:21am On Jun 26
The Ifedayo Youth Vanguard has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence and killings allegedly linked to political activities in Osun State, describing the development as unfortunate, disturbing, and a threat to the peace-loving people of the state.

In a statement issued on behalf of the group, the Vanguard expressed deep concern over what it described as the desperate actions of elements within the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the opposition party of creating tension and insecurity in a bid to destabilize the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The group noted that the people of Osun State overwhelmingly elected Governor Adeleke based on his proven commitment to good governance, transparency, and people-oriented policies, stressing that no amount of intimidation or political violence can erase the remarkable achievements recorded under his leadership.

According to the statement, "The recent killings and acts of violence being witnessed in parts of the state are condemnable and unacceptable. Politics should never be a reason for the shedding of innocent blood. We call on security agencies to conduct thorough investigations and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice."

The Ifedayo Youth Vanguard further urged members of the APC to embrace peaceful and democratic means of political engagement rather than resorting to actions capable of undermining public peace and security.

The group reaffirmed its unwavering support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing him as a leader committed to the development of Osun State and the welfare of its citizens.

"We stand firmly with Governor Adeleke and his administration in the pursuit of peace, progress, and sustainable development. The people of Osun State will not be distracted by those who seek to plunge the state into chaos for political gains," the statement added.

The Vanguard also appealed to residents, particularly youths, to remain calm, law-abiding, and resist any attempt by political actors to use them as instruments of violence.

The group concluded by calling on security agencies to rise to their constitutional responsibilities and ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
PoliticsLG Funds: Osun Labour Unions Issue Final Ultimatum To UBA by Jimsonjaat86(op): 3:40pm On Jun 24
The leadership of the Organised Labour in Osun State, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC), has issued a final ultimatum to United Bank for Africa (UBA), threatening indefinite picketing of the bank's branches across the state over the management of local government accounts.

In a letter addressed to the bank's management, the labour unions accused UBA of failing to honour an agreement reportedly reached during a mediation facilitated by the Department of State Services (DSS), which led to the suspension of an earlier planned picketing exercise.

According to the unions, UBA has continued to allow individuals described as the court-sacked APC "Yes/No" local government chairmen and councillors to operate local government accounts despite existing court judgments.

The labour leaders referenced the judgment delivered on June 15, 2026, by the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, presided over by Justice Adefunmilola A. Demi-Ajayi, which reportedly dismissed a suit filed by the APC-backed local government officials and declared tenure elongation unconstitutional.

Organised Labour maintained that the affected officials no longer have the legal authority to act on behalf of the 30 local government councils in Osun State or operate their financial accounts.

The unions demanded the immediate freezing of all transactions initiated by the affected officials, the restoration of banking operations to what they described as constitutionally recognized local government administrations, and the release of accrued local government funds in the bank's custody.

Labour also urged UBA to safeguard all local government allocations, noting that the funds are intended for grassroots development and the payment of salaries, allowances, and pensions of local government workers, teachers, and health workers.

Warning of consequences, the unions stated that any continued recognition of the affected officials as account signatories would amount to a violation of a valid court judgment and could expose the bank to legal liabilities.

As part of its resolutions, Organised Labour directed that all UBA branches in Osun State be picketed indefinitely if the bank fails to comply with its demands. The unions also instructed workers, pensioners, and public sector employees to close their personal accounts with the bank and move them to other financial institutions.

Additionally, state ministries, departments, agencies, and local government councils were urged to transfer their institutional accounts and payroll operations from UBA to other commercial banks.

The labour movement said the industrial action would remain in force until the bank ceases what it described as hostile operations concerning local government funds in Osun State.

OSUN PDP TO ILLEGAL APC AGENTS: STAY AWAY FROM LG SECRETARIATS OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR LAWLESSNESS

●Party Warns On Assassination Agenda Hatched At Apc Meeting In Ila-Orangun

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received credible intelligence indicating a fresh plot by agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC), masquerading as local government chairmen, to invade local government council secretariats across Osun State on Monday in a desperate attempt to continue their illegal occupation and looting of public resources.

We wish to restate unequivocally that these individuals have no legal standing whatsoever. They are political impostors whose claim to office has collapsed under the weight of judicial pronouncements and constitutional reality. Their tenure does not exist in law, and no amount of political grandstanding can give life to a mandate that never existed.

We therefore warn these APC errand boys to steer clear of all local government council secretariats in Osun State. Any attempt to forcefully gain access to council facilities or interfere with the lawful administration of local governments will amount to a direct assault on the rule of law and a deliberate provocation capable of threatening public peace.

The attention of security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, is hereby drawn to this dangerous plot. The police and other security institutions have a constitutional responsibility to protect lives, property, and democratic institutions, not to provide cover for political adventurers seeking to manufacture chaos after exhausting all legal options.

It is instructive that the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo has dismissed every ground upon which these self-styled APC chairmen sought judicial validation for an extension of a tenure they never had in the first place. Having failed woefully in court, it is both reckless and irresponsible for them to contemplate resorting to self-help and lawlessness.

Security operatives must take particular note of the inflammatory posturing and dangerous rhetoric emanating from the APC in Osun State despite its comprehensive failure in a case it instituted by itself. Such conduct raises legitimate concerns about a coordinated attempt to undermine public order and test the resolve of law-abiding citizens.

The game is over. The legal road has reached a dead end for the APC and its agents. This reality must sink in. Nigeria cannot afford to be portrayed as a banana republic where court processes are manipulated to justify illegality and where defeated political actors seek through intimidation what they could not obtain through lawful means.

The people of Osun State deserve peace, stability, and sustained economic growth, all of which are being vigorously pursued by the administration of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. Any attempt by political opportunists to deploy errand boys and hired agents to interfere with local government administration and lay hands on funds meant for grassroots development is unacceptable and will be resisted through all lawful means.

Let it be clearly stated that the duly elected local government chairmen and councillors under the Peoples Democratic Party remain the legitimate occupants of the local government councils in Osun State. Any further act of hooliganism or unlawful obstruction by the APC against these elected officials in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, particularly in the light of the latest judgement of the Federal High Court, amounts to a direct challenge to democratic governance and the collective will of the people of Osun State.

We therefore call on all security agencies to act professionally, impartially, and decisively by preventing any illegal gathering, invasion, or occupation of local government facilities by persons without lawful authority.
Osun State must not be dragged into avoidable turmoil by politicians who have exhausted both legal and political options and are now seeking relevance through provocation and disorder.

Similarly, credible intelligence available to us points to a sinister plot allegedly hatched at a recent political meeting held at the Ila-Orangun residence of Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun State and a leading APC chieftain, where discussions were said to have centered on carrying out high-profile political assassinations targeting leaders and associates of the polical platform where His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke is contesting the August 15 governorship election.

While we urge security agencies to thoroughly investigate these disturbing reports, we consider it necessary to place this intelligence in the public domain so that those behind such evil designs understand that their plans are no longer shrouded in secrecy and that the eyes of the public are firmly fixed on them.
This alleged plot bears all the hallmarks of the last gasp kick of a dying horse, symptomatic of political elements who have realized that they can no longer achieve their objectives through legitimate democratic means. We therefore call on all security agencies to rise to the occasion by taking proactive measures to identify, monitor and neutralize any individuals or groups linked to this evil agenda before it is executed. The preservation of lives, democratic stability and public peace must remain paramount, and no political ambition should be allowed to degenerate into violence, bloodshed or acts of political terror.

Hon. Sunday Bisi
Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

PoliticsIfedayo LG Accord Elders’ Caucus Throws Weight Behind Gov Adeleke’s Second Term by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:22am On Jun 20
The Ifedayo Local Government Accord Elders’ Caucus has dismissed claims by some leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the party is winning in Ifedayo Local Government, describing such claims as disconnected from the reality on ground.

In a statement issued by the caucus, the group said the political atmosphere in Ifedayo has changed significantly, with Accord gaining wider acceptance among residents across various communities.

The Elders’ Caucus stated that the growing support for Accord reflects the people’s demand for credible leadership, good governance, and a new direction for the local government.

According to the statement, “the enthusiasm, support, and commitment we are witnessing from the grassroots indicate that Accord is firmly positioned for a resounding victory.

"In Ifedayo today, the story is changing. The long-abandoned Ora-Igbomina Water Scheme, which was neglected under previous APC administrations, has been revived by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, with reconstruction now over 80% complete.

Beyond that, over 2km of roads have been constructed across Ifedayo Local Government within a government that is yet to complete its first four years in office. These are clear signs of a people-focused administration committed to infrastructure development and improving the lives of citizens.

Our people are benefiting from the ward-based cooperative society where they have access to interest-free loans to expand and strengthen their businesses.

No fewer than 500 women have also benefited from cash grants designed to support their businesses, improve their livelihoods, and promote economic independence.

This is the impact of a government that prioritises the welfare of its people and invests in grassroots development.

For the 12 years that the APC held power in Osun State, the people of Ifedayo deserve to ask: where were the projects? Where was the attention? Did Ifedayo truly matter to them?

Today, the people can see the difference between promises and performance. No amount of propaganda, misinformation, or political desperation can erase the reality on ground.

The good people of Ifedayo have witnessed the impact of purposeful leadership, and they will continue to support progress, development, and a government that remembers them.

“Ifedayo is speaking. Accord is listening. The victory is for the people,” the statement concluded.

PoliticsOSSIEC Affirms February 22 For Osun LG Elections by Jimsonjaat86(op): 5:00pm On Jun 18
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has reaffirmed the validity of the February 22, 2025 Local Government elections conducted across the state, declaring that the elected Chairmen and Councillors remain the legitimate officials of the various Local Government Areas.

In a letter written to both the Department of State Security (DSS) and Nigeria Police, Nigeria Civil Defence Corp and Engineering Construction Regiment the Nigeria Army, Ede, the commission maintained that the Court-sacked Yes or No Chairmen does not have any legal rights to be in the local government secretariats.

The Commission stressed that no court of law has invalidated the elections conducted by OSSIEC, adding that the outcome of the polls remains legally binding.

The Commission further stated that its constitutional mandate is to provide political leadership at the grassroots through the conduct of Local Government elections, adding that the February 2025 election remains the latest exercise conducted in line with its mandate.

The clarification followed the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday, June 15, 2026, which dismissed the tenure elongation suit filed by the sacked APC Local Government Chairmen.

According to OSSIEC, one of the reliefs sought by the plaintiffs was the nullification of the 2025 Local Government elections, but the court refused to grant the request.

The Commission therefore maintained that the Chairmen and Councillors elected on February 22, 2025, remain the lawful representatives of Osun Local Government Council Areas.

In another letter addressed to the DSS and the Police, Musibau Adetunbi SAN stated that the Executive Governor of Osun State issued an executive order directing the police to remove the illegal APC chairmen and ensure the safety of all local government staff, as well as the smooth resumption of the elected council chairmen who were elected on 22nd February, 2025.

It is important to note that the sacked APC chairmen specifically sought the following reliefs from the court: permission to continue in office, nullification of the 2025 local government election, invalidation of the oaths of office of the elected local government chairmen, an order restraining the defendants from removing them (the sacked APC chairmen) from the council secretariats, and an order directing the police to continue providing security for them at the local government secretariats.

All the reliefs specifically sought by them were expressly refused by the court, and their Originating Summons was dismissed in its entirety. A Certified True Copy of the court’s enrolment order is hereby attached.

It must also be stated that no court has issued any order staying the decision or granting an injunction against the implementation of the judgment. The mere filing of an appeal or an application for stay does not, in itself, constitute a court order restraining the enforcement or implementation of a judgment

Politics Is About the People, Not Self-Enrichment — Barr. Olusegun Mosobalaje Olawoyin Reflects on Leadership, Service PDP, and 2027 Expectations

Exclusive Interview with Barrister Hon. Olusegun Mosobalaje Olawoyin (Akinrogun of Offa) By News Bulletin Nigeria

Q: Sir, how did the chieftaincy title Akinrogun of Offaland come about?

Olawoyin: It was an honour bestowed on me by the late Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Mustapha Olawore Olanipekun Ariwajoye II in recognition of my performance and contributions to the growth and development of the community.

It happened during the celebration of his 40 years on the throne, which I believe was around 2009.

Q: When was your official coronation held?

Olawoyin: I did not have a formal coronation at the time. The late Olofa only requested a letter of acceptance from me.

My mother and I later went to the palace with the traditional kola nuts, and Kabiyesi said that was sufficient.

Since then, I had been recognised as Chief Akinrogun of Offa.

However, when the new Olofa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Oloyede Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I ascended the throne, he insisted that the proper traditional rites and celebration should be done, so we later went through the official process at the palace.

Q: Many people also call you “Erujeje.” How did that name come about?

Olawoyin: The “Erujeje” name actually came from a sticker. At a point, armed robbers stole my vehicle around the Ipara-Ogere area in Ogun State, and I needed another car to use temporarily. A friend leased me his Nissan Murano, and the vehicle already had an “Erujeje” sticker on it. I believe the sticker was one produced in church at the time.

Coincidentally, that period was around when I was given the Akinrogun title, so people started calling me “Akinrogun Erujeje.”

During one election period, PDP members even produced campaign stickers with “Akinrogun Erujeje” written on them, and the name stuck.

Q: Looking at your political journey, many people expected you to contest for positions such as the House of Assembly, House of Representatives or even seek federal appointments. What happened?

Olawoyin: Nobody can fully determine how politics will go. We can only aspire. At this stage, I think the House of Assembly is no longer part of my political considerations.

Back then, I tried my luck, but society and political stakeholders often have their own preferences.

Sometimes, even when you perform well, some people may still not support you because they want things done their own way. That is part of the reason many office holders today are not performing to expectations.

For me, if any opportunity comes to serve, I am always ready to demonstrate what proper politics should look like.

Politics should be about the people and giving back to them because without the people, you cannot get to any position.

Unfortunately, nowadays many people impose themselves just to enrich themselves and act like semi-gods.

Q: How would you describe the present political situation in Kwara State?

Olawoyin: At the moment, I do not hold any political position. I am simply observing events from the national level down to the state. The democratic tendencies we used to know are gradually disappearing. People are making moves without truly consulting the people.

But when the time comes, we will all know where we stand.

Q: Some people thought you had retired fully into legal practice.

Olawoyin: No, not at all. I still practise law actively. I have my offices in Ilọrin and Offa. I am not someone who makes unnecessary noise about his profession. If you come to me and I can attend to your matter, then you will know I am practising.

Q: There was also a time people believed you represented the Attorney-General, Mr. Fagbemi.

Olawoyin: I was not directly representing Fagbemi personally. I was only privileged to handle a matter on behalf of the office of the Attorney-General.

Q: Since the publication of your book, what developments have taken place in your career?

Olawoyin: I have remained in active legal practice. That has been what I have relied on for my livelihood over the past 16 years as a private legal practitioner.

Apart from that, I also served as a community representative on the governing board of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, for about one and a half years before the board was dissolved by the new administration.

Q: Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, what should people expect from you?

Olawoyin: Politics has already started, but for now my focus is mainly on observing and participating as a voter. Those who are interested in contesting have already begun their activities.

In politics, anything can still happen along the line, so I cannot say much for now about my personal plans.

Q: Your book contained several references to the late Dr. Olusola Saraki and his family. What is your relationship with the Sarakis today?

Olawoyin: We (Olawoyins and Sarakis) still maintain a cordial relationship. Baba (Dr. Olusola Saraki) is no longer with us, but we are trying to sustain his legacy just as we are also preserving the legacy of my own father.

Q: You are regarded as the only son of your father actively involved in politics. Should we expect another member of the family to join politics?

Olawoyin: God will determine that. I have played my part, and my sister is currently the vice chairman of the council, so I am not the only member of the family involved in politics.

Among the sons, two are late while three of us are still alive. The other two are not interested in politics. We continue to pray and perhaps the younger generation may eventually take interest.

Q: There were reports that you contested for the Kwara South Senatorial seat.

Olawoyin: I only aspired; I did not win the PDP primary in 2023. After I lost, I joined late Senator Rafiu Ibrahim’s campaign team. Earlier in 2015, I also aspired to contest for the House of Representatives under the PDP.

Q: Does that mean you are ruling yourself out of 2027?

Olawoyin: No. Anything can still happen. The day is still young and the political direction is not yet very clear.

Q: With your family’s relationship with the Sarakis, many people assume you could become one of the major political leaders from Offa.

Olawoyin: I have not picked any nomination form, so nobody can say that for now. Politics is not only about Saraki; it is also about the community. If the community believes you can genuinely lead and work in its interest, then they will support you.

I believe I have demonstrated enough capacity for people to judge my abilities. For now, I am simply waiting on God.

Q: Many people who served under you as aides and councillors are now occupying important positions across political parties. How do you feel about that?

Olawoyin: I thank God for it. Many of the people we worked with at the time have grown into leaders today.

For instance, the current APC chairman in Offa, Kunle Adegboye (Kunle Papa), served as a councillor under me. Jide Jatto, my cousin, is PDP chairman. Taiye Omotosho and many others also emerged from that same political era.

We built a team of quality people, and today they are contributing meaningfully across different political platforms.

Q: What do you think are the chances of the PDP in the 2027 elections?

Olawoyin: The people will decide. If they are satisfied with the current situation, they will show it during elections. But if people are suffering and there is no visible improvement in important sectors, they also know what decision to make.

For instance, travelling to Abuja has become very difficult because people now spend time searching for safer roads to use. These are practical issues people can see for themselves.

As a PDP member, I want my party to succeed, but governance should never be about one-man control. Government should be for the people and by the people.

Q: What should people expect from you going forward?

Olawoyin: I am always ready to collaborate with anyone who has good ideas that will benefit society. By God’s grace, we hope PDP will return to power at the state level in the future.

Q: You have contributed immensely to the development of Offa. In what ways have you continued to serve the community?

Olawoyin: Whenever the Olofa sets up committees or community initiatives, I always contribute my best. I try to support any agenda or programme aimed at developing Offa. I have consistently done my best for the community.

Q: Even after leaving public office years ago, you still receive warm reception and recognition whenever you visit town. What do you think is responsible for that?

Olawoyin: The family name may contribute to it, but I believe people mostly remember my style of leadership and performance.

The title of Akinrogun was not given to me simply because I am the son of J.S. Olawoyin. It was based on my performance as chairman.
I remember that the late Olofa told me he admired the way I handled government and my courageous leadership style. He said although I was not the first chairman, he was impressed with my conduct and performance, and that was why he decided to confer the title on me.

The Chronicles of Barrister Olusegun Olawoyin (IV): Governance, Projects and Grassroots Administration

When Barrister (Hon.) Olusegun Oluwatoyin Mosobolaje Olawoyin assumed office as Chairman of Offa Local Government in November 2007, his administration faced growing expectations across security, infrastructure, public services, and local economic development.

Within his first year in office, the administration initiated programmes across multiple sectors, with attention focused largely on grassroots governance and public service delivery.

Security and Community Policing

One of the earliest challenges confronted by the administration was security.

At the time, residents of Offa had begun experiencing incidents of burglary, car theft, and other criminal activities that contrasted with the town’s reputation as a relatively peaceful community.

After consultations with security agencies and community stakeholders, the administration established the Offa Local Government Neighbourhood Watch Service in October 2007.

The initiative introduced structured local surveillance and community-based security support. Patrol vehicles, communication gadgets, identification materials, and operational support were provided for the vigilante structure, while monthly funding was allocated to sustain operations.

The administration also strengthened cooperation with formal security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Civil Defence Corps, and other security units operating within the area.

Part of this support included the construction of an operational office for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps along Wale Clinic Road in Offa.

Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment

The administration introduced several programmes targeted at youth employment and small-scale economic support.

Among them was a motorcycle empowerment initiative aimed at helping young people establish commercial transport businesses.

Vocational support schemes were also introduced for artisans and unemployed youths, particularly those unable to afford working tools or technical training.

The Accelerated Vocational Training Scheme (AVOTS) focused on practical skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, computer training, and mobile phone repairs.

Participants underwent training programmes and were supported with soft loans intended to help them start small businesses after completion.

The administration also implemented periodic cash-support interventions for selected residents across wards within the local government.

Sports Development

Sports development formed another visible part of the administration’s activities.

Offa Local Government hosted sporting competitions involving teams from within and outside Kwara State.

In 2007, the council hosted a visiting Norwegian female football team in a friendly match against a local female side, an event that drew attention within the community.

The local male football team, Offa United, also participated in the Governor’s Cup competition and emerged champions after defeating Irepodun Local Government in the final.

Infrastructure support followed these activities.

A pavilion was constructed at the Offa Township Stadium and named after late football figure Gafaru Alabi, in recognition of his contributions to sports development.

Commerce and Expansion of Owode Market

The administration also directed attention toward commercial activities, particularly the Owode Market, one of the major trading centres in the area.

Roads within and around the market were improved to ease the movement of traders and transport vehicles.

Additional shops were constructed, while fencing and gate structures were added to improve security.

Revenue collection processes were reorganised, and market operations were expanded as part of efforts to improve internally generated revenue for the council.

Banking Expansion and Economic Growth

During this period, Offa witnessed increased banking activities, with several commercial and microfinance banks opening branches within the town.

The administration attributed the development partly to improvements in the business environment and growing commercial confidence in the area.

The expansion reduced dependence on neighbouring towns for banking transactions and created additional employment opportunities for residents.

Agriculture and Rural Support

Agriculture remained a key focus area, particularly for rural communities.

The administration introduced support programmes for farmers through subsidised access to tractors, fertilisers, agrochemicals, and seedlings. Cocoa farmers also benefited from the distribution of thousands of cocoa seedlings as part of efforts to improve agricultural output.

Cooperative structures were encouraged to improve farmers’ access to loans and technical support, while agricultural officers participated in training programmes and seminars within and outside the state.

Staff Welfare and Administrative Management

Within the local government workforce, emphasis was placed on salary payment, staff training, and workplace support.

The administration maintained regular salary payments and settled outstanding allowances inherited from previous periods.

Vehicles and a staff bus were also procured to support official movement and field operations.

An open administrative style became one of the defining features of the council during this period, with regular engagement between political office holders and career staff.

Water Supply and Public Utilities

Water supply was another area that received attention.

Several damaged boreholes across Offa and surrounding communities were rehabilitated, while repairs were carried out on parts of the Government Reserved Area (GRA) water infrastructure.

The administration also collaborated with the state government in supporting operations at the Oyun Water Works, including repairs to generators and support for fuel supply to improve water distribution.

Environmental Management and OFFA CLEAN

Drawing from his previous experience as Commissioner for Environment and Tourism, Olawoyin expanded environmental sanitation efforts within the local government.

The OFFA CLEAN initiative was reorganised with additional personnel, equipment, uniforms, and operational support.

Drainages were cleared in several parts of the town to reduce flooding and environmental hazards.

Public sanitation campaigns were also intensified, while waste management operations became more structured across key areas of the community.

The programme later received recognition within Kwara State for environmental management performance.

Road Construction and Infrastructure

Road construction became one of the most visible aspects of the administration.

Several township roads were rehabilitated or newly constructed, including routes around Owode Market, Atan-Oba, GRA areas, and other residential communities.

Drainage and culvert systems were incorporated into many of the projects to address erosion and flooding concerns.

The administration also facilitated collaboration with the state government on additional road projects across Offa.

Electricity Supply

To improve electricity distribution, transformers and electrical components were installed in several communities experiencing poor power supply.

The administration also supported electrification around the Naval School area and replaced damaged infrastructure in parts of the GRA.

Education and Library Development

In the education sector, classroom renovations were undertaken in selected schools, while computer facilities were introduced in some primary schools to support early digital learning.

Support was also extended to the Women Education Centre in Offa, where additional classrooms and training facilities were provided.

The Offa Township Library was renovated and restocked with books, newspapers, and reference materials to improve public access to learning resources.

Health Services

Primary healthcare centres across several wards received renovations and upgrades.

The administration also supported immunisation exercises, HIV/AIDS sensitisation campaigns, free eye screening programmes, and environmental health initiatives.

Additional medical materials and outpatient facilities were provided within the local government’s health system.

Governance and Public Administration

Beyond physical projects, Olawoyin’s administration projected itself as a grassroots-oriented government focused on accessibility and direct engagement with residents.

His emergence from legal practice into public administration reflected a transition from advocacy in the courtroom to governance at the local level.

Barrister (Hon.) Olusegun Oluwatoyin Mosobolaje Olawoyin's time as Offa LG Chairman was a period marked by expansion in infrastructure and public services.

It was a phase that further established his place within Kwara’s political landscape.

The Chronicles of Barrister Olusegun Olawoyin (III): Entry into Partisan Politics and Rise in Public Office

Barrister (Hon.) Olusegun Oluwatoyin Mosobolaje Olawoyin’s entry into partisan politics was neither sudden nor accidental.

It followed a long period of observation, consultation, and gradual alignment within an established political tradition.

Coming from the Olawoyin family, his political direction drew early attention.

His father, the late Chief J.S. Olawoyin, had been a prominent figure in Northern Nigerian politics, and expectations were high about whether any of his children would continue that legacy.

Party Alignment and Early Political Choices

Before formally settling into a political platform, Olawoyin engaged widely with his father’s associates and political stakeholders.

He initially had a brief association with the Alliance for Democracy (AD), a party linked to his father’s political background.

However, he later made a decisive move to the All Peoples Party (APP), which subsequently became the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). The decision was shaped by consultations and his alignment with the political structure led by Dr. Olusola Saraki.

His choice generated public debate at the time, but those close to the process described it as a calculated move rather than a departure from principle.

His political activities soon gained visibility in Offa, especially after he declared his intention to contest for the chairmanship of Offa Local Government.

The declaration marked his emergence as a frontline political actor in the area.

Movement into the PDP and Consolidation

As political realignments unfolded nationally, Olawoyin moved with the Saraki political structure into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He formally registered in his ward, Ojomu Central ‘B’ in Offa, and began building grassroots support.

Within the party, he was quickly identified as a mobiliser and strategist.

His ability to connect with local stakeholders and organise support structures strengthened the PDP’s position in Offa.

Vice Chairman, Offa Local Government (2004–2005)

His first major public office came after the 2003 local government elections, when he was selected as the running mate to Hon. Tajudeen Folaranmi Aro.

The ticket won, and Olawoyin served as Vice Chairman of Offa Local Government from April 2004 to December 2005.

During this period, he was assigned responsibility for the finance portfolio within the council.

His role placed him at the centre of administrative coordination and fiscal management.

Those who worked with him at the time point to his involvement in internal reforms and policy coordination within the council.

Commissioner for Environment and Tourism (2006–2007)

In January 2006, his political trajectory shifted to the state level.

He was appointed Commissioner for Environment and Tourism by the then Kwara State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

His appointment followed clearance by the State House of Assembly and marked his entry into the state executive council.

As commissioner, he oversaw a ministry considered central to the state’s development agenda.

His tenure included efforts aimed at repositioning public infrastructure within the tourism and hospitality sector, including initiatives around the management and revitalisation of Kwara Hotel.

The role also exposed him to broader administrative responsibilities, including policy implementation, inter-agency coordination, and official engagements beyond the state.

He served in that capacity from January 2006 to June 2007.

Political Mobilisation and Strategic Role in Offa

Ahead of the 2007 general elections, Olawoyin was given a strategic political assignment by the state leadership.

He was tasked with strengthening the PDP’s structure in Offa, where more mobilisation was considered necessary.

He led consultations with community leaders, traditional authorities, and political stakeholders, expanding the party’s reach within the town and surrounding areas.

The exercise contributed to improved party performance during the elections.

TIC Chairman, Offa Local Government (July–October 2007)

Following the end of elected local government administrations in the state, Olawoyin was appointed Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) for Offa Local Government in July 2007.

In this role, he returned to grassroots governance, overseeing the administration of the council during the transition period. His tenure lasted until October 2007.

Elected Chairman, Offa Local Government (November 2007)

After leaving the TIC position, he contested in the November 2007 local government elections under the PDP.

His campaign focused on grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and structured political organisation across wards and communities in Offa.

The election, held on November 3, 2007, resulted in a clear victory. He won across all wards in the local government and was declared Chairman-elect of Offa Local Government.

He was sworn in on November 23, 2007, alongside other elected council chairmen in Kwara State.

Transition to Governance

Upon assumption of office, Olawoyin constituted his executive team and inaugurated the legislative arm of the council, in line with constitutional provisions.

His administration was defined by an emphasis on accessibility and administrative openness, with efforts directed at aligning local governance with broader state development initiatives.

His emergence as chairman marked a consolidation of his political journey; from a legal practitioner and grassroots mobiliser to a key figure in local governance within Kwara State.

PoliticsOsun: Youths Reject Imposition Of Hon. Kashope Abolarin by Jimsonjaat86(op): 1:29pm On Apr 15
Tensions are building within political circles in Ifedayo local government following allegations of a planned imposition of Hon. Kashope Abolarin as the candidate for the state lawmaker in the forthcoming general elections.

A youth-based group, the Ifedayo Youth Vanguard, has formally written to the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, a copy of the petition which was obtained by our correspondent, raised concerns over the development, describing the move as a potential threat to party unity, democratic values, and future electoral success in Ifedayo local government.

Addressing journalists shortly after the group submitted their petition to the office of the Governor, the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Olusegun Adebisi, appealed to His Excellency and the state leadership to uphold fairness and due process in selecting candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the group, Hon. Kashope's political approach has contributed to divisions within the party at the local level. They said that rather than fostering unity, his actions and activities have deepened internal disagreements among stakeholders.

Comrade Adebisi further alleged that the lawmaker has not established a strong grassroots political structure since assuming office, leading to a disconnect between leadership and party members at the local level. This, the group noted, has left many loyal supporters feeling excluded and unrepresented.

Additionally, the group questioned claims attributed to Hon. Kashope Abolarin regarding the facilitation of certain road projects in Oke-Ila and Ora-Igbomina. They described such claims as misleading and capable of undermining public trust and accountability.

The Ifedayo Youth Vanguard also expressed concern over what it described as a growing erosion of confidence among constituents, warning that imposing a candidate without broad acceptance could provoke backlash from both party members and the electorate.

They cautioned that such a move may negatively impact the party’s chances in future elections within the constituency.

While reaffirming confidence in the leadership of the state, the group urged authorities to ensure a transparent, inclusive, and credible candidate selection process that reflects the will of the people.
PoliticsKwara NNPP Disowns Kwankwasiyya Movement, Warns Against Misuse of Party Identity by Jimsonjaat86(op):
The Kwara State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from members of Kwankwasiyya Movement.

The party said Kwankwasiyya Movement is a socio-political force in Nigeria, particularly dominant in Kano State, centered around the leadership and ideology of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

It added that they are known for their distinctive red caps, which symbolize loyalty and a shared political identity, the movement focuses on grassroots mobilization, human capital development, and "Jagora" (leadership).

Kwara NNPP therefore declare that members of the Movement are not members of the party and cautioning against what it described as persistent misrepresentation of its identity.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Isiaka Lamidi Shoku, said Imam’s alleged association with the NNPP in a recent publication was misleading and should be disregarded.

Shoku clarified that Kwankwasiyya Movement only used the NNPP platform during the 2023 general elections in support of the presidential ambition of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The NNPP chairman also raised concerns over what he described as deliberate distortion of the party’s logo and official identity.

He noted that the NNPP has, for over two decades, maintained its traditional logo symbolising a basket of fruits against the map of Nigeria, representing food security and prosperity for the masses.

He faulted the use of a red-and-white logo featuring a book and academic cap, stating that such branding is alien to the NNPP and is instead associated with the Kwankwasiyyah Movement.

Shoku further explained that although Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso unveiled a new logo in July 2024 as part of a rebranding effort, the development does not reflect the position or identity of the NNPP as a political party.

He added that Kwankwaso is no longer a member of the NNPP, having defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and therefore should not be linked with the party’s current structure.

On the leadership of the party in the state, Shoku said the NNPP conducted its Local Government and State Congresses in January 2025, which produced a legitimate executive under his chairmanship.

“The Local Congress held on January 13, 2025, while the State Congress took place on January 16, 2025, where I emerged as chairman,” he said.

The party warned individuals and groups to desist from using its name, logo, or identity in a misleading manner, stressing that it would not hesitate to take legal action against violators.

Shoku reaffirmed the commitment of the NNPP in Kwara State to uphold its values and protect its integrity.

PRESS STATEMENT

RE: MISREPRESENTATION OF NNPP MEMBERSHIP AND IDENTITY IN RECENT PUBLICATION

My attention has been drawn to a recent publications by members of Kwankwasiyya Movement purportedly describing themselves as members, executives and as far as former Chairman(men) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kwara State.

For the avoidance of doubt, members of the Kwankwasiyyah Movement are not members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

They are affiliated with the Kwankwasiyyah Movement, a political group that merely leveraged the NNPP platform during the 2023 general elections in support of the presidential ambition of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

It is also important to correct the deliberate misrepresentation regarding the identity and symbols of our great party.

The NNPP does not operate with the red-and-white colour scheme featuring a book and academic cap, as is being circulated. That branding is associated with the Kwankwasiyyah Movement and its affiliates.

Historically, and for over two decades, the NNPP has maintained its distinct identity with a logo symbolizing a basket of fruits set against the map of Nigeria, representing food security, prosperity, and the well-being of the masses. This remains the official and authentic symbol of the NNPP.

While Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may have unveiled a redesigned logo in July 2024 as part of his political movement’s rebranding efforts, such actions do not reflect the position or identity of the NNPP as a duly constituted political party.

Furthermore, we wish to categorically state that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is no longer a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), having since defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Therefore, any attempt to associate his current political structure or its symbols with the NNPP is misleading and unacceptable.

We also wish to address claims regarding party leadership in Kwara State.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kwara State duly conducted its Local Government Congress on January 13, 2025, followed by the State Congress on January 16, 2025. These processes produced a legitimate leadership, with Alhaji Isiaka Lamidi Shoku emerging as the duly elected Chairman of the party in the state.

In light of the above, we strongly caution individuals and groups to desist from using the name, logo, or identity of the NNPP in a misleading manner. Any further misrepresentation will not be tolerated, and we will not hesitate to seek legal redress against offenders.

The integrity of our party and its identity must be respected at all times.

The Kunle Buraimoh (KB) Foundation on Monday extended its educational support initiative to Moremi High School, distributing free exercise books to students of the institution.

This was in a gesture aimed at promoting academic excellence.

The outreach, held on February 23, 2026, saw members of the Foundation, led by its Programme Director, Mr. Fatai Adekunle, return to the alma mater of the Foundation’s founder, Mr. Kunle Buraimoh.

The team was received by the school’s principals, Mrs. Adedoyin A.A. and Mr. Olaleye M.G., alongside teachers, a representative of the alumni body, Mrs. Yetunde, and excited students who gathered to welcome the visitors.

After a brief tour of the school facilities, the students converged at the assembly ground where the distribution took place.

Each of the 680 students received eight exercise books,.

This was in a bid to ease the burden on parents and supporting effective learning in public schools.

Speaking during the event, Adekunle urged the students to remain focused and committed to their studies, describing education as the surest pathway to a brighter future.

The Osun State Joint Labour Movement, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) and the Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), has strongly condemned what it described as “unprofessional, defamatory and unlawful conduct” by Sally Tibbot Limited in the ongoing staff audit exercise in the state.

In a statement jointly issued under the banner of organised labour, the unions expressed “grave concern and indignation” over what they termed persistent and reckless allegations by the consulting firm regarding the alleged existence of widespread ghost workers in the Osun State Public Service.

Labour leaders accused the firm of abandoning professional standards by resorting to media campaigns, political insinuations and public accusations against workers, rather than confining its findings to appropriate administrative and legal channels.

Alleged Breach of Professional Ethics

The unions argued that an audit firm is expected to operate within the bounds of objectivity, confidentiality and established professional standards.

According to the statement, the public linking of compensation demands to the number of alleged ghost workers reportedly identified raises ethical and legal concerns.

They further disclosed that as part of the ongoing verification process, the consultant was invited by a joint committee comprising representatives of government and labour to defend the figures allegedly presented but declined the invitation.

Labour maintained that this development casts doubt on the credibility of the consultant’s claims, describing the original figures as “grossly exaggerated.”

Constitutional and Legal Dimensions

The Joint Labour Movement also anchored its position on constitutional provisions, arguing that branding legitimate workers as “ghost workers” without due process violates Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which guarantees the right to fair hearing.

The statement added that such declarations could also infringe on Section 17(3)(a), which obligates the state to ensure citizens have the opportunity to secure adequate means of livelihood, as well as Section 34(1), which protects the dignity of individuals.

“Publicly branding workers as ghost employees without conclusive judicial or administrative determination constitutes defamation and character assassination,” the unions said.

They further noted that under the Trade Unions Act and the Labour Act, no worker can lawfully be deprived of employment or remuneration without due process.

Politicisation of Audit Exercise

Organised labour expressed concern over what it described as the politicisation of a professional assignment, citing the consultant’s repeated appearances on radio, television and newspaper platforms.

The unions warned that transforming an audit dispute into what they termed a political propaganda tool during campaign season undermines the neutrality expected of independent consultants.

“Professional firms are not political actors. They are bound by neutrality, objectivity and confidentiality,” the statement added.

Support for Forensic Investigation

While condemning the consultant’s conduct as unprofessional and misleading, the unions welcomed the decision of the Osun State Government to invite anti-corruption agencies, including the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to conduct a forensic review of the audit process.

Labour affirmed its full support for an independent investigation to authenticate the audit and review reports, urging civil society groups and the public not to be swayed by what it described as sensational claims.

The unions also stressed that the staff audit exercise is yet to be concluded, noting that a final batch of 486 workers and pensioners is expected to appear before screening committees in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

“Dignity of Labour Not Negotiable”

The Joint Labour Movement warned that it would not fold its arms while workers are subjected to what it described as unlawful harassment, intimidation or reputational damage.

It reserved the right to pursue legal redress on behalf of any worker unjustly defamed or wrongfully declared a ghost worker and cautioned against any attempt to tamper with the legitimate earnings and employment status of bona fide staff.

“The dignity of labour is not negotiable. An injury to one is an injury to all,” the statement read.

The unions concluded with a declaration of solidarity, reaffirming their readiness to deploy all lawful industrial and legal mechanisms to defend their members if necessary.

PoliticsOsun Youth Group Slams APC, Says Blackmail Won’t Restore Lost Public Confidence by Jimsonjaat86(op): 2:18pm On Feb 21
The Ifedayo Youth Vanguard (IYV) has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, declaring that no amount of blackmail, propaganda, or sponsored misinformation can restore the trust the party has already lost among the people.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Olasunkanmi Adefila, the group affirmed that the people of Osun remain solidly behind the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, citing visible strides in governance, workers’ welfare, and infrastructural development across the state.

The group described recent claims surrounding the state’s audit exercise as misleading and politically motivated. According to the statement, the firm engaged by the government to conduct a staff audit exercise was contracted strictly to ascertain the accurate number of civil servants and ensure transparency in the payroll system.

“In our findings, it was gathered that the consultant’s report was manipulated in a manner that unjustly labelled several legitimate civil servants as ghost workers, including highly placed officials such as the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, and other senior government officials,” the statement read.

The group further alleged that such actions appear to be a deliberate attempt to discredit the current administration and incite public distrust.

“It is unfortunate that individuals who claim to be professionals would allow themselves to be used as tools for political vendetta. No amount of sponsored narratives can erase the memories of the hardship Osun people endured in the past. The people are wiser now and can clearly distinguish between genuine governance and desperate opposition tactics,” the statement added.

The Ifedayo Youth Vanguard emphasized that the audit exercise remains a necessary step toward strengthening accountability, eliminating irregularities, and ensuring that public funds are prudently managed.

The group urged members of the public to disregard what it described as “baseless propaganda” and instead focus on the tangible achievements recorded under Governor Adeleke’s leadership.

“We stand firmly with the people of Osun and reaffirm our confidence in this administration. Attempts to destabilize the state through misinformation will not succeed. Osun belongs to its people, and they will not be misled again,” the statement concluded.

Governor Adeleke Defended Over Tenure Extension, As Group Warns Against Political Distractions in Osun

The Osun Democratic Accountability Network has cautioned individuals and groups who are hellbent on distracting the state government to desist forthwith and allow the administration to continue delivering on its developmental projects for the overall benefit of the people of Osun State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the group’s Convener, Comrade Saheed Oguntolu, the group addressed the extension of service of some senior government officials, describing the criticism as unnecessary, politically motivated, and misleading.

According to the statement, “This is not the first time the tenure of senior government officials has been extended. Governor Ademola Adeleke has acted within constitutional provisions and has not contravened any law.”

The group recalled that former Governor Rauf Aregbesola extended the tenure of several Permanent Secretaries, while former Governor Gboyega Oyetola also extended the tenure of the former Head of Service, without attracting public outrage or condemnation from the same groups now crying foul.

“Those who are now raising alarm maintained total silence when similar decisions were taken by previous administrations. The attempt to single out the current government and weaponize tenure extension for political mischief is dishonest, selective, and clearly aimed at misleading the public,” the statement added.

The group further pointed out the inconsistency at the national level, noting that Comrade Omoyele Sowore has repeatedly referred to Mr. Kayode Egbetokun as an ‘illegal IGP’ following the extension of his tenure by the President, while the Abuja Head of Service also benefitted from a similar extension under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“If such extensions are acceptable at the federal level and under previous administrations, then the hysteria surrounding the Osun State Government’s decision raises serious questions about motive and sincerity. So, what exactly is the noise about Osun?” the group queried.

The Osun Democratic Accountability Network urged critics to be consistent, fair, and guided by facts, stressing that governance should not be reduced to selective outrage, double standards, or partisan attacks.

According to the group, “What the people of Osun desire is stability, continuity, and sustained development, not distractions engineered to score cheap political points or derail a government focused on service delivery.”

The statement concluded by reaffirming the group’s support for the Adeleke administration, encouraging the state government to remain focused on fulfilling its promises to the people of Osun.

“Ultimately, it is the people who will decide. Come August 8, the people of Osun will once again exercise their democratic right to determine who continues to lead them. Until then, the focus should remain on good governance, peace, and progress,” the statement concluded.

This was part of his grassroots empowerment drive.

The empowerment programme, held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Iyeru Okin Primary School, Offa, featured the distribution of 20 grinding machines, 30 welding machines, 10 furniture impact drilling tools, 10 hair dryers for hairdressers, 10 automatic wrenches for mechanics, 15 PPR fusion welding machines for plumbers, and 20 sewing machines.

In addition, 60 constituents received ₦50,000 each, amounting to ₦3 million, to support their small-scale businesses and boost economic self-reliance.

The programme opened with prayers offered by Venerable Dr Emmanuel Omotayo Faremi, Sub-Dean, St. Mark’s Cathedral Church, and Sheikh Muhammad Soliu Muhammad Raji (Alfa Soliu Afelele/Ijabalahi), underscoring the interfaith harmony of the gathering.

Addressing beneficiaries and party leaders, Adato described the event as a “happy day” for the constituency, stressing that the initiative was designed to strengthen livelihoods and expand local businesses.

“We give thanks to God for today. The reason why I did this is to support our people so that their small businesses can grow. What we are providing here today are tools for plumbers, welders, aluminium workers, furniture makers, mechanics, tailors and hairdressers,” he said.

He added that the cash support was meant to serve as working capital for beneficiaries, urging them to deploy both the equipment and funds judiciously.

“This is Phase One. Phase Two and Phase Three are coming. Where this support has not yet reached, more is still coming. I urge those privileged to receive these items today to use them for the purpose they are meant for,” Adato said.

The lawmaker also expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, describing him as a leader who believes in inclusive governance, as well as the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, for his support.

Speaking on behalf of the Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, the party’s Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Sanmori, commended Adato for living up to the expectations of the electorate.

“What we are seeing here today is a good example of why people voted for APC. Government may not be able to provide jobs for everyone, but with this kind of empowerment, beneficiaries can create livelihoods for themselves,” Sanmori said, urging recipients not to sell the items.

In his goodwill message, Hon. Moshood Kunle Adegboye (Kunle Papa), APC Chairman in Offa Local Government, described the intervention as unprecedented in the constituency.

“Since I started politics in this constituency, this is the first time I am witnessing empowerment of this consistency. You have not disappointed the party, the people, or the Governor,” he said, cautioning beneficiaries against disposing of the equipment for quick cash.

Also speaking, Hon. Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf (JK), member representing Eesa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency, praised Adato for what he described as genuine humanitarian service.
