Nairaland GeneralIndiscriminate Dumping Of Refuse: Defaulters Arrested In Osogbo, To Be Fined by Jimsonjaat86(op): 3:13pm On Dec 18, 2023
The Environmental Health Department of Osun State Waste Management Agency earlier today engaged on Environmental Monitoring and Surveillance around Akindeko market area of Osogbo at 6:00am.

The Surveillance team was led by Sanitarian Hassan Akeem Olawale together with Sanitarian Oderinde Temidayo, Sanitarian Adegbesan Adewumi, Sanitarian Akindele Ridwan.

Others are, Sanitarian Ramon Kudirat, Sanitarian Ramon Mujidat, Sanitarian Olatoye Basirat, Sanitarian Owoeye Ayodele, Sanitarian Opekilede Funmi, Sanitarian Agunbiade Irewumi, Sanitarian Ajala Yetunde and Sanitarian Anwo Sunday Adedeji.

The purpose of the Surveillance is to curb the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the road median and other non approved sites by the state government, which the members of the public engage in.

Some of the defaulters who brought vehicles to bring their waste from their various homes were arrested and were taken to the Agency for proper profiling and charges.

It has been noted that the residents of the area are found dumping refuse on the road median, most especially the market women and men and those living in the neighborhood.

Speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Mayowa Adejoorin warned those who engage in dumping refuse on road median to desist, as anyone caught will be dealt with according to the provisions of the law.

He stated, “I have directed that the Environmental Health Department to arrest anyone caught dumping refuse indiscriminately and should be made to face the full wrath of law.

“We have the Private Sector Partnership (PSP) who engage in collecting refuse from households, they go to streets to collect the refuse. Individuals are expected to make use of these people instead of dumping the refuse on our major roads. This must stop.” He declared.

PoliticsHonourable Bamidele Salam Empowers Constituents by Jimsonjaat86(op): 11:19am On Dec 17, 2023
Hon. Bamidele Salam fulfills a mandated commitment to empower students and constituents in Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State. The expansive empowerment event, held on December 16, 2023, at the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke Country Home in Ede, encompassed various initiatives benefitting over 3,500 constituents.

Distributed resources included computer sets to 50 schools, 3 cars to party leaders, 50 industrial sewing machines, hair dryers, generators, and agricultural chemicals. Additionally, sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, agricultural disinfectant sprayers, force-ups, portable generators, deep freezers, and bags of rice were distributed to women, youths, and constituents.

The National Children Leadership Conference in Abuja featured mock examinations, with top-performing students receiving awards to encourage their educational journey. Governor Ademola Adeleke commended the initiative, acknowledging it as a stepping stone for Osun State's greater development and praising Hon. Bamidele Salam as a "fantastic representative."

During a press briefing, Hon. Salam emphasized the initiative's motives, expressing a commitment to fulfilling an electoral promise by empowering constituents for improved economic and personal well-being. He highlighted ongoing government efforts in infrastructural development and pledged to sustain and expand the empowerment program.

Prince Bola Ajao, State Secretary of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), likened Hon. Bamidele Salam's actions to the effective governance of Governor Adeleke, praising the distribution of democracy dividends to various sectors.

Beneficiary Oyedele Kashfat expressed gratitude, noting that the distributed machine fulfilled a long-standing dream. Another beneficiary, Adegbite Aderoju from Obafemi Awolowo University, appreciated the bursary, emphasizing its significant impact on her financial well-being.

PoliticsOsun APC And Some Hard Home Truths By Abiodun Komolafe by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:51am On Dec 17, 2023
Olajumoke Ogunkeyede is a leader of the _All Progressives Congress_ (APC) in Osun State. JMK, as Ogunkeyede is popularly called, was also a chieftain of the now-rested _National Democratic Coalition_ (NADECO). He participated actively in putting an end to military rule and the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria.

In a chance encounter with yours sincerely recently, JMK has these to say on the state of Osun APC:

“I am not a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and I try not to dabble into the running of Osun PDP. But, with the current situation of things, there’s no doubting the fact that we need to rejig the opposition APC in the state if we are going to challenge the current government. We must create structures that will help put our house in order. Politically, our house is not in order. If we are going to challenge PDP in the next Osun governorship election, we should be doing more than what we are doing presently.

“The fact that a lot of people are running after former Governor (Gboyega) Oyetola does not resolve the quagmire into which we have fallen in Osun. Charity is said to begin at home. The leadership should do its best to make sure that we are not just sitting on the fence. Whether we like it or not, (Ademola) Adeleke’s government is there and we will just keep complaining, unless we are able to get our house in order.

“With the way Osun APC is going about resolving its internal dynamics, it’s like we are feeling that, because Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is in Abuja, we will win. No! Tinubu will only do his best for the party. But his responsibility is to the whole nation and whatever he is able to do will be minuscule, compared to what he would do were he not to be the president of Nigeria. To this end, we should begin to get our people ready so that in the next election, we are fully prepared because, from the look of things, we are not yet prepared. As things stand, the falcon doesn’t seem to hear the falconer. In Osun APC, the centre is not holding. And we are complacent, thinking that it will be good. Of course, that’s the concept of miracle. We can’t fold our arms, thinking that manna will fall from heaven. We can sit down under a make-believe canopy of ‘it’s done’. The way things stand, nothing is done.

“Yes, President Tinubu is known to be a strategist. But he needs that strategy for the nation. He would have done a lot to push the nation up and that may have a positive effect on the electioneering processes in 2026 but, according to an adage, ‘it is a child that raises his hand that will be picked up’. We cannot depend on him doing it alone. It will be a huge joke if we are expecting him to do it for us at all costs. Already, he is doing it for us by being the president. Or do we expect him to move Aso Rock to Osogbo because his party is contesting an election? The more reason we must struggle hard to complement his efforts. If the election is in 2026; and this is 2023, what are we waiting for? We have not done much to reposition our people. We have not done anything in the area of empowerment. Yes, we are criticizing the ruling party, but it should be more than that. For now, we are an empty mouth, just clanging and making noise. There should be substance to the noise-making. If we focus too much on what the PDP is doing, that’s good. But that won’t help the APC. Rather, the opposition should have its strategy to counter and subdue the antics of the ruling party before, during, even after the election.

“Truth be told, Osun APC is not yet ready for the next election. Otherwise, one is never ready by word of mouth. Empowerment should begin right now to be able to face the tedious challenges of electioneering, instead of hoping that, from Ile-Ogbo to Ila-Orangun, and from Orile-Owu to Ilase-Ijesa, we would win.

“In 2022, Osun PDP caught the then party in power by surprise. Though what’s done cannot be undone again, the way out is adequate preparation. PDP had never had it so good like the 2022 governorship election. Although the enemy within made it possible for that to happen, the fear I have now is that we still have some members of the PDP who are diabolical and may still infiltrate our party. I was looking at the list of those that were suspended or expelled. Some names were still missing there. So, we should shine our eyes and make sure that we are prepared for the election.”

JMK has said it all; and a word is enough for the wise!

Surely certainly, politics as a vocation has a way of mesmerizing its adherents. While one is not attempting to be adventurous as to how Osun APC decides its destiny, that there’s an urgent need for political retooling or reengineering is no longer news. To get the party back to the market, there should be a commitment to seeking the cause in order to prevent reoccurrence. Of course, this is no time to engage in the trappings of politics or dirge of self-pity. Instead, a moment like this calls for a reappraisal of how the party got to this pass. So, let those in need of penance establish a framework for it with penitent hearts and let those who think no one else matters in the affairs of the party pursue a critical political thinking that’s consistent with the dynamic changes in the world we live in.

In the light of truth, nobody is an island. No one is also blameless. Therefore, a recalibration of the party’s politics and needs is a viable option. Those who have no direction shouldn’t delight in elevating peculiar interests over and above everybody. Those who ate all the honey and have relocated to Abuja, struggling to be attached to somewhere must be made to account for the roles they played or failed to play while the honeymoon lasted.

If you ask Nigerians, heaping the loss of the 2022 governorship election solely at the doorstep of Rauf Aregbesola is a tale long stale. Yes, Aregbesola’s factor might have done a lot to July 16, 2022, but it’s time the gladiators invoked critical, self-introspection to find out why their treasured party missed the mark. For instance, was Aregbesola responsible for the party’s loss in Boluwaduro, a Local Government with only 10 Wards but having the immediate past state chairman and more than 20 other high-ranking leaders and first-rate political appointees in its kitty? Was it Aregbesola who made it lose in Ila-Orangun where Bisi Akande and other party bigwigs came from? What about the shallow and hollow fries who pretended to be big birds: those who were adequately mobilized for the election but ended up losing even their Polling Units? Should we start mentioning the names of those who were pursuing vanity and pride which eventually left the party in torments? Have they been sanctioned for their unprofitable adventure?

Let’s face the truth, to say that Aregbesola was the reason APC lost the Osun governorship election in all the three Senatorial Districts is to say that _‘Ogbeni’_ was the most powerful person in the party and that, without him, nothing could be done. Unknown to Osun APC, the political strength and influence that the former governor himself may never possess have already been ascribed to him, freely.

Nairaland GeneralNLI Founder, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, Others Speak At Kwara CDHR Symposium by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:27pm On Dec 15, 2023
Founder of the Nations Leadership Institute (NLI), Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, has proposed a 'multi-dimensional strategy' to address incessant cases of human rights violations in Nigeria and worldwide.
He made this known while speaking as a Guest Speaker at a symposium organized by the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, CDHR, Kwara State Chapter, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the NLC Secretariat, Ilorin.
Recall that the Kwara State chapter of the CDHR kick-started the 2023 Human Rights Day with the theme, "Consolidating and Sustaining Human Rights Culture Into The Future" on Friday, December 8, 2023. CDHR members paid courtesy visits to the Kwara office of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Ilorin.
The Kwara CDHR Chairman, Comrade Afolabi Lukman, on Saturday, December 9, appeared on NTA Ilorin, where he discussed prevailing human rights issues and this year's theme. He also led the CDHR team to Diamond FM Ilorin on Sunday, December 10, 2023, to dissent same.
During his presentation, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo said, "To consolidate the gains and address the challenges of human rights violations, I propose a multi-dimensional strategy as follows: strengthening state institutions like the National Human Rights Commission, Public Complaints Commission, and the Judiciary to ensure that laws and policies on human rights are effectively implemented.
"We need to ensure continuous dialogue between the government, CSOs, NGOs, and the citizenry to foster understanding and cooperation. We need to invest in education that instills the values of human rights from an early age, creating a culture of respect and dignity."
He also called for leveraging digital media to mobilize, educate, and empower citizens on human rights. "This could be used effectively as a sustaining instrument of the culture of Human Rights. The example of this was witnessed during the ENDSARS crisis in Nigeria."
"It is true that society is dynamic, but regression is not a positive dynamism. If the thinkers of old believed that man must leave the nasty state of nature for one that is more accommodating, preserving human dignity and love; recent developments point to a direction of going back to the ignoble past. There is a need to get worried about whether human rights will survive the coming onslaught on human dignity, compassion, justice, peace, and fairness," he concluded.
Other speakers at the event were Barrister (Mrs.) Jumoke Olaoye, Kwara State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and Comrade Yomi Clement Adeboye, the General Manager of Kwara State Printing and Publishing Corporation (Publisher of Herald newspaper).
Dignitaries at the event were Barrister Gambari, the Ilorin branch Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA); Comrade Muritala Olayinka Saheed, the Kwara State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); and Comrade Michael Olanrewaju, the General Manager of Diamond FM.
Others included representatives of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Kwara State Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

PoliticsPdp Calls For Halt To N17.8 Billion Kwara Hotel Renovation by Jimsonjaat86(op): 11:23am On Dec 15, 2023
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly urged an immediate cessation of the proposed N17.8 billion renovation project for Kwara Hotel under the Abdulrazaq-led APC government. Criticizing the allocation as a misplaced priority amidst economic challenges, the party demands detailed clarification on the exorbitant spending plan. In a statement by State Publicity Secretary Olusegun Olusola Adewara (Sholyments), the PDP questions whether the intention is to demolish and rebuild or if undisclosed factors are inflating the renovation cost during a period of economic hardship.

The PDP emphasizes concerns over the earlier closure of the Hotel, handed over in good condition by the PDP's administration, highlighting what they perceive as a threat to Kwara state's legacy and a lack of policy direction. Expressing skepticism about the government's intentions, the party insists on transparency, especially considering the state's deficiencies in infrastructure and social amenities vital for attracting investors.

Strongly condemning the alleged illegal auctioning of Kwara Hotel properties by the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led government, the PDP accuses the APC of sidestepping due process and disregarding transparency norms. Terming it a "sponsored looting spree," the party raises doubts about the integrity of the process and the responsible use of public resources.

The PDP further demands accountability for the N17 billion reportedly kept in a secret bank account for over three years by the governor. Describing the lack of transparency surrounding these funds as deeply troubling, the party insists on a comprehensive account of the funds' status, the bank it was kept in, and the accrued interest.

In the face of citizens' economic hardships, the PDP urges Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to reconsider the stance on Kwara Hotel, calling for an explanation of the renovation plans and whether the hefty budget is for demolishing and rebuilding or renovating the existing structure.

The PDP, committed to safeguarding the interests of the Kwara people, vows to resist attempts to turn the funds into a retirement package for the governor. The party reiterates the importance of responsible utilization of public funds by elected officials.
CelebritiesReview: Rela Wraps Up 2023 With Let Them Know by Jimsonjaat86(op): 9:19am On Dec 15, 2023
2023 for Favy Rela is noted for narration across the three singles released by the growing Afrobeats singer in the diaspora. Setting out in mid 2023 with a memoir revisiting some past intimacies and following it up with another narrative about his career interfering with his love affair — it's clear Rela is a great storyteller.
This tale-telling exploration persists on his provision for the festive period of December; Let Them Know, more like a song of victory, recounts his early struggles to make a mark. These tense moments were followed by a major success that Rela thinks is worth celebrating, hence, the mainspring for recording this song.
Let Them Know preaches celebration, gratification and a slight hedonism as a form of guilt-tripping the naysayers of one's days of misfortune. In Rela's context on this song, all must hear of one's win; jubilation is a must. This is even taken beyond the usual merrymaking as seen on the artwork which connotes the merry must go around the globe.
PoliticsOsun Apc's Silly Assessment Of Governor Adeleke's Performance by Jimsonjaat86(op): 7:06am On Dec 15, 2023
By Lanre Aminu

Failed politicians of every hue still get undue attention today in Nigeria to air thier views, because the rotten system has not been able to put them in their proper place in history. The poor masses are in bondage because the "TRUTH" is in prison.

The foregoing explains what we have seen in Osun state chapter of APC; criticism upon criticism of Governor Ademola Adeleke. The political party has taken undue criticism to mean opposition. It is always lending its voice, scavenging whatever Adeleke led PDP government has done without setting its priorities on how it feels it should be done as expected of a constructive opposition political party, even though they were in government for 12 years with nothing to show for it.

We make bold to say that the two successive APC governments in Osun left a legacy of poor vision, huge unjustifiable debts, shocking mismanagement and waste of public funds on white-elephant projects, over inflated and unexecuted contracts, out right corruption and abysmal failure to invest heavily on human capital development, the only sin qua non for the greatness of any nation in this 21st century knowledge-based world economy.

A scrutiny of the objectionable nature of how successive APC governments superintended over public funds revealed horrendous and unbelievable rot. The two Osun APC's governors pretence to transparency and accountability is a hollow mockery of those virtues and the height of hypocrisy.

A full probe of their tenure will disgrace a nation of savages. Their abysmal record in education is a crying shame to their posture today. The abject poverty of Osun people under successive APC's government's watch shows the tragedy and hypocrisy of the fake progressives.

To some of us, discerning minds of Osun state politics, there is reason to wonder on which moral tripod the Osun state chapter of the APC stands to criticize the affairs of Osun state under Adeleke led PDP government's watch. How can it justify trying to con unsuspecting Osun masses to buy into this harangue in a bid to see it as a saving voice for their plight?

Does is not take absolute morality to expose absolute immorality? It is very sad that this dinosaur of a party is applying every thing possible to come back to public embrace through calculated media war and abracadabra! It keeps changing appearances in order to either deceive or to project a phoney identity of what a genuine opposition political party should mean and stand for.

The party's disgruntled politics in Osun is appalling, as it disguises its failure under a cloak of cheerfulness; that is pretending to appear cheerful while disguising the fact that can never be concealed. From what could be observed so far of the party, what is left of it is its public relations desk which has been tirelessly using the media to sell the party's 'hard to sell' image.

But observers are not deceived because it is obvious that its main stakeholders are responsible for the political mishap it has suffered in the recent pass elections in the state. The party is today donating its voice to the public even when the voice has crass tones and cracked rythms and rhymes. As a matter of fact, the party, including its affairs is heading into oblivion.

With the way and manner Osun APC is operating in the state, its activities are causing most people to feel that everything is turning against it and the party cannot stand firm. And to that extent the party has become an object of ridicule and scorn. Yet, it is still fighting to see the evening twilight, but oblivious that it is gloating over its own ruins.

As it stands today, Osun APC is twisted and rough covered with knobs leaving its dwindling adherents wailing and gnashing thier teeth. Yet the party is growling, like a famished dog, at every attempt of Adeleke led PDP government of Osun state. Its major undoing is lack of desire to take a firm stand in reasoning and in opposing.

There is no gainsaying that a non- performing and visionless party like the APC forfeits the moral highground to criticize a widely acknowledge performing administration like that of Ademola Adeleke. Every impartial observer of political events in Osun knew incessant criticism of Adeleke administration by the opposition party in Osun, APC is mischievous, destructive and lack integrity.
It is not only laughable, puerile and infantile for Osun APC to say Adeleke's government is the worst government in Osun. We judge the performance of a government, either positively or negatively by what that government had been able to achieve in the area of adding value to human existence.

The good people of Osun can now compare two eras: The APC better forgotten era when they were pauperized and the Adeleke led PDP government era when they are been empowered. It is on record that when Adeleke assumed office, a suffocating debt, including humongous areas of workers salaries and pensions was hanging on the neck of the state like a sword of Damocles due to fiscal recklessness, misplacement of priorities and poverty of ideas of successive APC governments.

Rather than fold his arms, bemoaning the plight of the state, Adeleke immediately deployed his thinking cap in his avowed determination to bring the state out of the woods. The result is what we are seeing in all sectors today. Adeleke has sufficiently proved to be a quintessence of the political class in a number of emerging societies across the world steeped in what modern theorists call developmentalism, that is, the kind of politics obsessed with radically increasing the standards of living of the people so that they could, within just a generation, compare favourably with those of the citizens of developed nations.

Such societies include Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia and in the recent time, Vietnam. "The difference between a good and a bad government sometimes lies in the number of obstacles we can remove from the path of our citizen or put before them"- Al-Makhtoum. I have yet to see any civil servant, artisan, market women who can pray or work for a party like APC that makes thier lives miserable to come back and rule the state.

Nairaland GeneralPolice Commissioner Halts Activities At Ori Oke Erinmo In Osun by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:37pm On Dec 13, 2023
In order to prevent further mayhem following the shooting incident on Monday, 11/12/2023, at the prayer mountain Ori Oke Erinmo, the Osun State Police Command has taken over the mountain.

The Commissioner of Police of the Osun State Command, CP Isyaku Mohammed, who announced the closure of the mountain on Wednesday, said the action was necessary at this point in time to halt the nefarious activities presently occurring on the mountain. It is a public and tourist center belonging to all, not an individual.
The Osun Police Commissioner said, “There must be no movement to and from the mountain for now, pending the outcome of the police investigation.”

CP Mohammed further stated that there would be no climbing of the Ori-Oke Agbara in Erinmo-Ijesa for now until further notice, and no burials would be allowed on the mountain.

“The police directed one Samuel Adegoke Odeyemi Bojesomo, known as Arole, to report himself to the police to explain his involvement in the mayhem this week, Monday, 11th of December 2023.”

The police warned that anyone found violating the order would find themselves to blame.

Recall the attempt by the late Prophet Odeyemi Joseph Bojesomo’s children to change the name of Erinmo-Ijesa Prayer Mountain and bury their father there, which had been resisted by the people of Erinmo Ijesa. They have vowed to protect their heritage from being desecrated by the Bojesomo family and their cohorts.

PoliticsIt Is Time For Governance In Nigeria: My Candid Take by Jimsonjaat86(op): 10:29am On Nov 04, 2023
By Mahmud Tajudeen Agaka

The February 25 2023 election would be remembered as perhaps the most keenly-contested election in Nigeria since return to democracy in 1999, as I have pointed out couple of days ago after the ruling of the apex court that affirmed the election that produced Mr Tinubu as Nigeria president.

As usual, the legal outcomes were a topic for days within our circles of friends, the arguments and the counter productive ‘argument’ that thrown up that day propelled me to considered my opinions into these very texts.

It’s a public knowledge that after INEC pronounced Mr. Tinubu as the rightful winner of the February 25 election, a series of legal battles ensued that filled up our media spaces for almost nine months after. Dissatisfied with the declaration of Tinubu as president-elect by INEC, the leadings opposition party (PDP)’s Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of Labour Party who came second and third respectively, embarked on torrents of legal journeys to challenge the outcome of the poll in separate suits, which included inability of the Mr President to inability to meet the 25% requirements in Abuja, the failures of INEC to transmit results in it real-time to IREV and posed of certificates falsification/forgery among others.

After a long legal tussle, the supreme court vindicated Mr Tinubu and dismissed all the suits filled by the opposition parties.

It was a battle that many thought distracted ‘the massive plans of APC’ and contributed to the inabilities of the presidency to face governance as Mr President promised in his inaugural speech. He stated that he will hit “the ground running”, noting that he was the one that intended to run for the nation’s top job and has prepared fully for every outcome.

Now that legal battles have finished, it is very important to remind the president that this is the right time to hit the ground running and a productive time to concentrate on governance. As popular Thomas Jefferson posited on roles of good governance: “the care of human life and happiness and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.”

It should be noteworthy to remind Mr. President that Nigeria is in a serious economic crisis. It has come to light that Nigeria annual inflation rate has heavily climbed marking – the highest rate since 2005, reflecting the impact of the fuel subsidy removal that was presented to the people as anti-masses policy. The devaluation of the official exchange rate, security issues, food prices and the rate of unemployment.

It is on these that I have to remind and advise Mr. President that the victory isn’t yet accomplished until his promises are fulfilled: giving dividends of democracy, good governance and provision of better living condition for all and sundry. This is what I wish and what I think the ‘Renewed Hope’ that was projected to Nigerians is all about. Country men are anxiously looking forward to their manifestations.

For Atiku Abubakar, I think it is time to drawing the curtains. May I first salute his doggedness, connectivity, fighting spirit, and war chest.

Indeed, he has fought a well applauded series of battles from 1993 till date. Some may dismiss the ‘battles’ as ones that have not yielded the intended results – maybe positively for Alhaji Atiku. Some however believe that Atiku has been vindicated in all aspects – ‘as a true democrat, leader of all leaders, pan Nigeria.’ His fighting spirit is superfluous and his relentless efforts in building a better Nigeria will go down in history as a story of a valiant and perhaps one of the founders of modern democracy in Nigeria.

At this juncture, Alhaji Atiku must look beyond himself, and at the bigger picture of the party, how to steer the party forward because he’s naturally a leader and father of the party who can turn to a kingmaker. Not necessarily quit the stage but he can champion equality; filling the gap that is missing in the party and to support and rally round the younger party statesman, with the like of former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki, former governor Aminu Tambuwal, former governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Senate Anyim Pius, Governor Bala Muhammad and other party’s stalwarts for the party’s presidential ticket in the future election.

Furthermore, the PDP as the oldest party in Nigeria must also needs to come together, re-strategize, align and realign to strengthen and produce a viable opposition political party for good governance, accountability and good democracy in our system. This is of course what our nation needs. PDP needs to re-posite itself and shy away from ‘traumas’ caused by court verdicts. Importantly, PDP should stand chance as a voice for the anti-masses policy/policies and a platform willing to aid the youths in actualizing their political dream.

For Obi and his supporters, I have to say these: Mr Peter Obi was prior to the elections an unpredictable political entity. This is a man who emerged from being a political underdog (known because he was Atiku running mate in 2019) to become ‘the third force’. Having a third voice was unheard of in Nigeria political history, or at least, not as strong as it Peter Obi and his supporters alias ‘Obidients’ made it in the 2023 presidential elections.

It was no surprise that some Nigerian castigated and perceived his ambition ‘as dead on arrival’ when he declared and picked the presidential tickets of the Labour Party after he left the PDP eve to the primary election.

Surprisingly, Mr. Obi managed to win the hearts of teeming youths in a manner that overwhelmingly affected the outcome of the polls. Also, the youths’ acceptance of Mr. Obi as their preferred candidate in the previous election reflected in voting pattern, which eroded Tinubu of victory in Lagos and caused the ‘controversial 25% in Abuja’.

Even the Labour Party received such an unpredictable surge in followership.

Peter Obi, or his followers, posed him as the ideal model for Nigeria politics. Obi came at a time southern-easterners were agitating against what they tagged as political marginalization and proactively interested in producing Nigeria president. The belief that Obi who is a former governor and economic expert can turn the fate of Nigeria around was massively preached and accepted by his followers.

There were also narrations that the other two contenders – Tinubu and Atiku – are too old for the job of Nigeria’s number one.

Similarly, the master-class performance and the composition of Labour Party and its candidate is well commendable, and this earned/earns the party global recognition and a spot for Peter Obi as the candidate to beat in future election.

Well, Obi and its staunch supporters shouldn’t choose this time around to hide between their fingers, they rather should face the realities of Nigeria political and cosmopolitan systems. They also should note how the framers of Nigeria constitution put how president can be elected. No region can single-handedly produce president. In fact, massive votes from SW, SS and SE may not be sufficient to produce president. The famous two-third of the total votes cast must be bored in mind. PO and his supporters must note this for future reference.

Before I proceed to halt my pen, let me quickly draw the attention of the public to the former President Goodluck Jonathan aide, Mr Reno Omokri who recently declared on his Facebook page that “if Waziri Atiku and Peter Obi both contest again in 2027, president Bola Tinubu will be re-elected.” this is simply because before 2023 election, the People Democratic Party had won in every state of the South East in every election since 1999, and the only path to victory is if one isn’t choosing to run against another, the expected votes will be shared between either of the two from South East and in some North Central states. Yes, that’s among the realities Peter Obi must embrace because of his defection from the PDP to another party.

It will be an interesting exercise to see Peter Obi open to recourse, understand and opt to unite with his former party in the forthcoming election to play a viable opposition party, to outclass and put an end to the APC-led administration and leading Nigerians out from the messes that are being promoted by the APC in their years in government.

Nairaland GeneralNigerian Senate Approves Institute Of Information And Communication Technology F by Jimsonjaat86(op): 5:51pm On Mar 20, 2022
The Nigerian Senate has given approval to the establishment of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Iwo Osun State.

The endorsement came following the presentation and consideration of a report on a bill to establish the Institute by the Committee on ICT and Cyber Security.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Oseni Yakubu (Kogi Central) laid the report after presentation.

Senator Yakubu in his presentation, said the bill which consists of 25 Clauses and 1 Schedule, seeks to establish the Institute to provide full-time and part-time courses of instruction and training in Information and Communication Technology and other related fields of study, and to make provisions for the general administration of the Institute.

He disclosed that out of all submissions received from stakeholders on the bill, only two were opposed to it.

According to the lawmaker, “while the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA vehemently opposed the bill, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy opposed it on one hand, but conceded that should the bill be passed and assented to, the institute should be domiciled under its supervisory authority.”

“However, all other stakeholders supported the bill, opining that the establishment of the Institute would not only be of immense economic advantage to Nigeria, but also alleviate the challenge of inadequate manpower in the ICT sector, and thereby make room for improved job opportunities and employment generation”, he added.

The bill was thereafter passed after consideration by the Committee of the Whole.

The bill for the establishment of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Iwo, Osun State by Senator Adelere Oriolowo of Osun-west Senatorial District was passed for first reading on the 22nd of July 2020 as well as the second reading on 7th July 2021 before a PUBLIC HEARING was held on the 16th of December 2021 as mandated by the Nigerian Senate to the Committee on ICT.

Speaking after the approval by the red chamber, Senator Oriolowo noted that this is another feat for his administration after successfully facilitating the citing of Federal College of Education and National Library to Osun West among other major establishment since he took office in 2019.

Movie Review

Movie Title: Oloture (Endurance)
Duration: 1 hour, 46 minutes and 52 seconds.
Language: English and a blend of Nigerian vernacular. (No subtitle)
Setting: Lagos and Benin Republic Border.

Recently, I told my students during literature class that as literature students, they shouldn't see movies only for the fun of it but also for intellectual and heuristic purpose.
Oftentimes, seeing movies stimulates me to derive a topic to write on. This is a cogent reason I prefer seeing movies alone, devoid of interference. Because na me and my pen and jotter dey see the movie together. When pen and jotter are not handy, I jot inside my brain. Weird you say?
Let's dive into the review of Oloture
Oloture is a movie that revolves around human trafficking, adventurous quest, intrigues, murder, struggle for survival and societal maladministration.
Oloture(Sharon OOja) the protagonist of the play was a daring investigative journalist who in her quest to unearth hidden secrets about human trafficking went undercover in a brothel under the guise of wanting to work as a prostitute. She adopted the name Ehi as her undercover pseudonym.
Though her prostitution outings were carefully mapped out for possible escape routes to prevent her from going intimate with her customers on such outings.
However, luck failed to shine on her on one of such outings(a party thrown by a top politician). She was drugged and raped by the host, Sir Philip Ondaje; a well-known politician who delights in drugging and raping young girls.
Alero; (Omoni Oboli) is a human trafficker disguised as a cloth seller. She provide girls to warm beds during parties thrown by bigwigs and also traffick girls to Europe for prostitution.
This does not come handy as the girls have to pay two thousand and two hundred dollars to be enlisted into the number.

Linda, a young lady in search for survival in Lagos found herself in the brothel in a bid to survive. She worked hard to be able to gather the required amount for she and her innocent younger sister aged seventeen, a virgin to travel to Europe through Alero so as to alleviate the pangs of poverty ravaging their family.
The poor girl was not in the know as her sister never gave her full information on the real purpose of their journey to Europe.
Ehi got to know about the journey to Europe through Linda while the latter was helping her treat her bruised arm during her escape attempt from a customer the previous night.
She (Ehi) showed interest in going with the girls to Europe with an underlying motive of apprehending Alero and her accomplices.
Plans on the journey to Europe was in top gear. No stone was left unturned to avoid any mishap.
Ehi and Emeka; her colleague who doubles as her lover were also leaving no stone unturned to nab the traffickers in their hideout before they embark on the journey to Europe.
Mobile phones and all means of communication was collected from the girls on getting to where they were lodged in preparation for the journey.
However, Ehi succeeded in secretly taking her phone with her into the lodge. This she secretly used to communicate their movement with Emeka; her colleague and lover.
After the initiation and taking of oath, which was a gory scene, onboarding to Europe was the next line of action.
After several persuasion and pleas from Linda, Ehi lend her phone to her to put a call through to the latter's mother in the village.
Linda was not as smart as Ehi and was caught in the process which led to her(Linda's) gruesome murder by the traffickers.
The realization that their hideout and time of movement has been divulged, this was gotten from the conversations found on Ehi's phone, they made to leave for Europe immediately.
As a result of the bane of societal maladministration and ineptitude that has bedeviled all systems of government, there was a restriction from the Nigerian Police due to the unavailability of their men to go on the rescue mission.

However, the police eventually gave in to raid the traffickers hideout but, it was a fruitless journey as they (the traffickers) left with the girls before daylight.
In her bid not to resign to fate, before their bus crossed the border, Ehi tried escaping with Linda's sister.
The latter escaped while Ehi was caught, silenced with blows and was taken back into the bus on a journey of a slim chance of returning.
The bane of societal maladministration was also depicted in this scene. I presume that the immigration officers at the border were in the know of the shady deal of the traffickers.
This was revealed when one of the male traffickers defied the order of queuing at the border. Instead, he went to one of the immigration officers to grease his palms with fresh mints and they were granted unobstructed pass without being checked.
Deceit was also displayed in the movie as the ladies were trafficked to cross the border in a bus disguised as a missionary bus.
Except for the few lewd scenes which I had to skip for my spiritual sanity, the movie is a blockbuster.
On a scale of 1-10, I rate the movie 9 over 10.
Have you seen Oloture? What do you have to say about this movie? I will be waiting to hear from you in the comments section.

The Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Adelere Oriolowo has, yesterday, stated that his reoccurring empowerment programmes are deliberate and consistent efforts to curb unemployment and alleviate his constituents from potential poverty.
Senator Oriolowo added that empowerment programmes were emphasized in his electoral promises during the campaigns.

The former member of Osun State House of Assembly and Legislative Aide to the President of the Senate furthermore said, “Senator Oriolowo believes so much in empowerment of the constitutents. “We did oral and written test for them and we realized that more than 85% of them were able to grasp the teachings adequately.

TỌBA ADÉDÈJÌ CHALLENGE
*************************************

Tọba was a coursemate from OND days (2014-2016) and he served in the same OBS as head Writers 2019/2020. He came to camp twice to see me among other things.

While I was thanking him on WhatsApp on the first visit, he said that edited 69 stories as OBS Head Writers. I asked, "am I supposed to beat that?" He came around again the second day and told me details of his editing experiences at OBS. That they still brought him news to edit even when he landed in the camp clinic some 48 hours to leave the camp. I asked how? He said he participated in many other activities aside OBS, including Platoon's.

I unanimously made 70-stories my own challenge after I announced it via WhatsApp status. It was a great surprise that Mr. Chucks Okoji, Cypher Muhammad, Classic Olayinka, Ìtàn Ayòbámi Africa were on the fore among people who were following the tallies as I kept updating in the days that followed.

Sadly (for me though), I didn't get to beat his record as I was made OBS Coordinator.

COORDINATORSHIP
*************************************

August 8th, 2021 we (OBS members) were called to the Pavilion for undisclosed purpose(s). I remember I sat between Audu Aisha Abosede and Ihrivbogbe Cecilia Oyindamola who are both in my unit and Ozuwo Beatrice Edward who headed presenters. We were chatting away as usual.

Again Ofure and Agboola did the talking. Units' heads were called out (Babarinde Tosin was absent) to give some feedback on their units. We did. And went back to our various seats.

I didn't even know what else was being said because I was deep in conversation with the girls. Suddenly I heard my name being called by more people, I raised my head to see I was being summoned at the front. When I got there I couldn't make a head or tail of what's being said, but I heard "Coordinator" said. And that was that.

Cecilia was also called and I gave her my (now former) tag as head Writers and I was given another one that read "Coordinator".

Expectedly, congratulations reeled in. Yes. I allowed it however soon grew weird and tired. Later embarrassed. So embarrassed that I turned my tag innerward for 72 hours. Israel Oghenesodjha (of Photography Unit) was the first runner up in this regard, he busied himself calling me "coordinator" whenever we saw.

I become friends with two friends on camp who are worthy of mention: Aleem Idaya Opeyemi and Majeedah Muritala Adufẹ. The former served in the camp clinic and the latter was SERVICOM member and my Platoon member.

Miss Aleem lost her white t-shirt in the Multipurpose Hall and came to OBS to see if anyone would be kind enough to bring it there. She kept coming that I felt for her and decided to buy her another one. That's how we become good friends afterwards. Till date.

Miss Muritala become a good friend after we all mocked ourselves for not getting the matching training alright. We all laughed at ourselves and I approached her to know more, hence become friends.

Furthermore, I met with some friends on camp too. They included and not limited to:

I narrated them the history of Ọṣùn River of Osogbo and scripted a three acts story for them. They came first and were appreciative of my gesture. It's written in Social Committee Report as "Finally, the social activities came to an end on a high and colourful note with a showcase of cultural diversities during the carnival. Subsequently, Plantoon 8 come first with 49.7 points, Platoon 1 second with 47.7 points and Platoon 5 with 47.3".

2. The Eburu of Iba, Ọba (Dr) Adekunle Adeogun Okunoye Oyedeji ll came to the camp to give speech on 4th of August. I had the privilege of chatting his praises while Abosede Audu Aisha gave him a present.

3. On the 7the of August, I, alongside Beatrice represented our Platoon 9 in Speech Contest, organized by Mindthegapdotcom team in collaboration with Google.

Nairaland GeneralEndsars: Speech To Our Mother, Nigeria by Jimsonjaat86(op): 11:27pm On Oct 20, 2021
Arise Oh! my lovely youngsters
So far I'm not a wicked mother
Enough I have to say further
For everything is at your disposal.

I've never regretted to be thy mother
Only after I was surprised to see wonders
Created by your hero or maybe the winner
Enough I have to say further,
For everything is at your disposal

Obeying the mother by the youngsters
They vow to restore the glory of their mother
For them to enjoy the fortune at their disposal
Enough is enough they say further
It is glaring everything is at their disposal

20th October is a date to remember
The history will never forget these youngsters
For they did what is expected of a winner
Unfortunately, they fall, a victim of this monster,

20th October is a date to remember
History shall tell the names of those monsters
For they did what is expected of a loser
Unfortunately, they end some youngsters.

From January to December,
Nothing scares me only in the month of Embers
For there's always a case to remember
But, there's more to the 20th of October

That night they raised their mother's flag
The identity given by their mother
For protection, we are loyal to the mother
We anticipate for the good and the better

Don't end us we are to restore the glory of our mother
We are youngsters again we are a winner
Don't end us we are the pride of our mother
We are youngsters again we are loyal

What could be a concern to a murderer?
A superior looking for bodies to prey, no wonder
They end the beautiful dreams of those youngsters
That night was so terrible and severe

Don't end us we Are loyal
They raised their mother flag
With the identity, they end those youngsters
They had gone with those heavy dreams, they suffered

With my eyes filled with salty water, I write this to you mother
Are they going to vanish just like others
With those dreams of serving their mother
In the process, they disappear even with your identity, mother.

If you can hear me mother, those monsters are still intact
Let them pay they also have youngsters
So they can feel the pain when theirs also disappear.

They keep roaming around the corner
They end them when they are yet to ripe, mother
They want action so they can rest well
And be proud of you as their mother.

Nairaland GeneralMoremi Ajasoro And The Historical Circus by Jimsonjaat86(op): 9:54pm On Oct 12, 2021
Story of Moremi hangs between three different royalties in Yoruba lands: Ile-Ife [Osun State], Ugbo [Ilaje Ese Odo, Ondo State] and Offa [Offa LG, Kwara State], and each has dichotomies of histories it holds sacred. The two aforementioned are major though.
Today in Yoruba land, there are two statues of Omoremi Ajansoro. Not that having two statues is an issue for a woman of her repute, but the two statues have different stories being narrations of those that erected them.
The first was erected by Ooni of Ife, Oba Alayeluwa Ogunwusi Enitan Ojaja II and the second by Olugbo of Ugbo, Ilaje Ese Odo in Ondo State. The former depicts her as an heroine holding the touch with which she helped Ile-Ife defeated the Ugbo and the second depicts her pleading - according to Olugbo – Olugbo’s forefathers to accept her back after she had known ”the truth”.
Ooni of Ife Oba Ogunwusi Ojaja II erected the tallest statue in Nigeria in Moremi’s honour. She is so venerated in Ife that you will think she is a goddess. However, Ugbo people till today blast Moremi as a traitor and they do not hide their hatred for her. There is no name they do not call her. Olugbo when he unveiled her statue said Moremi would forever remain Olugbo’s wife who she bore a prince, and that Moremi eventually came back to beg Olugbo to beg for forgivess, as depicted by the mould of the statue.
To break the ice, Moremi DID NOT MARRY ORANMIYAN. It is surprising that this false connotation has been in circulation for too long a time. The great Duro Ladipo also supported this narration. And thus there are three things wrong in his theater adaption of Moremi.
First, She is said to be a princess from Offa [which is true], and that there was a great feminine in Offa which made two chiefs (Otun and Osi) to fight on a tuber of Yam. The case was taken to Oloffa who wanted to cheat them of it. The case was subsequently taken to Alaafin Oranmiyan who after instructing them on how to divide the yam equally saw Moremi, took her as wife, her father’s disapproval regardless. If Oranmiyan did so, he committed incest and inbreeding by the ‘fact’ that the marriage produced a child [Oluorogbo].
No matter how crude, primitive and uncivilized they claim we were, this act is abomination in Yoruba land, and if he had done it then, histories would have said so.
(The story went on that after Moremi become a queen in Oyo, Oranmiyan went to battles and left her and other queens behind. She however came to Ile-Ife, probably because Ile-Ife is her husband’s home, on her own accord.)
Secondly, Duro Ladipo tried to narrate the history of Ijakadi, but must thought saying two chiefs fought on a tuber of yam doesn’t speak well. This narration should be refuted having failed examinations. The Ijakadi in history of Iran Oloffa happened to the ‘same people’ who fought over a tuber of yam. And histories of Iran Oloffa agree that it happened between two brothers. So where did Duro Ladipo see two chiefs that ‘disagree’ but didn’t engage in ijakadi bout?
Thirdly, the usage of Otun and Osi is incorrect. Iran Oloffa chieftaincies do not have Otun and Osi; Ojomu, Eesa, Shawo take their place. Odofin chieftancy is exclusive to Ilofa, Kwara State].
When I say ‘Iran Oloffa, I am talking about a scattered, heterogeneous ancestry like any other Yoruba ancestry. Most of them are found in Ọ̀ffàtẹdo in Osun State, Iyana Ọ̀̀ffà in Ibadan, Ọ̀ffàtẹdo in Ibadan, Oyo State, Owode-Ọ̀faro in Kwara State, Ọ̀ffà Irese in Kwara State, Ilọfa in Kwara State, Ọ̀ffà Èésun, Ìsàlẹ̀ Ọ̀ffà in Òkùkù, Ọsun State, Ọ̀ffà Igbó-Oro, Alairin family in Ikẹrẹ-Èkìtì in presentday Èkìtì State and Ìsàlẹ̀ Ọ̀ffà in Ìgbayé.
Presentday Offa is called Offa Arinlolu. I call it Offa Ile too.
This has been extensively discussed in my book, ‘Olofamojo: Scientific Research On Iran Olofa’.
History of Moremi has been written by Posi Ogunremi and been published by House of Oduduwa, an obvious sign of endorsement by Ooni Ogunwusi Enitan Ojaja II. The author’s can be reached via 07053635130.
Back to rail: there are a few obstructions in the history of Omoremi, as NO ONE can lay a finger on the exact year of her existence. I am familiar with some writers writing 500 - 800 years ago, but this can’t be verified. Also no one can say the names of the Ooni, Olugbo and Oloffa on throne when she (Moremi) lived. Some said Ooni Alayemoore, but has founding of Offa Eesun, the first Offa been that long?
Omoremi as a name is actually an Ife word pronunced _re mi do mi_ which was shortened to Moremi that everyone calls it presently. She is from Igun (_do do_) one of the ancient communities in Ile-Ife now extinct. The community is around the present day Iyekere area of the city of Ile-Ife. Iyekere in itself was coined out of an expression, Yee kere (_do mi mi mi_) which means "this is too young or too small in Ife dialect.
Without undue repetition, we all know what she did to save Ile-Ife, sacrificed her son and how her heroic act is immortalized in the Edi Festival celebrated in Ile-Ife which lasts for seven days. It involves clapping but no drumming as it is a solemn affair. There is also a wrestling match in front of the palace of the Ooni of Ife symbolizing the struggle between Ile Ife & Ugbo people. On the 7th day, a goat is sacrificed as a representation of Oluorogbo & his sacrifice for the welfare of the society.
I recommended Moremi history book by the author mentioned above (Posi Ogunremi) in order to juxtapose with your version of Moremi story. He disagreed that no town called Igun in the history of ile - Ife but he agreed with the another name, Atete you called Moremi only son. He stressed that Atete was nicknamed of Moremi’s son in the Oriki during Edi festival. Just like Ooni Ademiluyi also nicknamed Ajagun, Adegunle also known as Abewela, Ooni Akinmoyero also referred to Odunle and Odede also nicknamed Oranmiyan to mention just a few.
He disclosed further that "Ela" or “Oluorogbo” was the real name of Moremi son. Moremi named the child Oluorogbo because of popularity of first Oluorogbo owing to his assignment. We were told that original Oluorogbo " wa tun Aye se ni".
It however should be noted that another deity had earlier known as Oluorogbo. Obalase is its Chief priest.
HOW IS MOREMI RELATED TO OFFA?
In a discussion I had with Mr. Muhammad Lawal, I asked “what if Offa refuses to accept Moremi story written by Chief Posi Ogunremi?” He asked, “what story do they have to tell?
Moremi’s mother was a princess from Offa, but her father, Lukugba [a hunter] hailed from Okerewe Compound in Ilé Ìfe. If any Offa indigene argues, ask them him/her questions:
1. If Moremi was born in Offa, which agbo ile was her father or mother from? And was she a contemporary of the founder of Olofa or way after the town had fully evolved?
2. Offa is an Oyo offshoot. In fact, the founder of Offa was of several generations after Oyo was founded. In this light, how is Moremi, a pre-Oyo dramatist personae featured in an extremely post-Oyo narrative? Except Ejigbomekun, Ife, & Oyo were founded at exactly the same period with shared experiences & culture heroes.
3. Could it be said that Offa probably had a similar experience with a female culture hero who saved some people & to retain their experience in human memory they chose to merge the story into Ife's Moremi?
Ọba Olúgbensẹ, the 8th Ọlọ́ffa, during a sojourn to Ile-Ife transferred the Òrìṣà Mọremi (i.e tu idò Mọremi) to in Ọ́ffá. The first Moremi Shrine was in front Keji Palace. The Shrine was shifted to latter-day Ọja Alẹ when a king from Anilelerin House was enthroned. It's now erected to Mọremi Hall of Fame building.
The first place Moremi was enshrined is now where Mùsùlùmí Nfẹ Àlàáfíà Mosque is sitting on at Film House. That spot is the only place that has hosted three different religions in Ọ́ffá.
Moremi High School, female residence halls in UNILAG & OAU are all named after Mọ́remí Àjàsorò. In 2017, Ooni of Ife Oba Ogunwusi Ojaja II erected the tallest statue in Nigeria in her honour. She is so venerated in Ife that you will think she is a goddess. However, Ugbo people till today blast Moremi as a traitor & an ashawo kobo kobo & they do not hide their hatred for her. There is no name they do not call her. One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist I guess.
And those who hold the argument that Moremi married Oranmiyan said the ancient town of Offa actually existed around the Osangangan Obamakin and Oduduwa era. This assertion, they believed, should hold water if we honestly believe that Moremi Ajasoro lived at the same time with Oduduwa because history had it that Moremi was a very pretty woman who was from Ofa but married to Oranmiyan. Apparently, Oduduwa was still very much alive during the Ugbo raids of Ile-Ife; just like we had other deities such as Esinminrin and Oluorogbo.
This argument holds no water as Oranmiyan had long died before the disturbance of Ife by the Ugbo.
They say Omoremi who was from Lukugba compound in Ife, he begot a son Oluorogbo (Obalase) for the then Onisoro ijugbe (Obarese) before he later married Alayemore after the demise of Oranmiyan.
The Ugbo people leftIle-Ife immediately Alayemore was enthroned as Ooni because the ugho people believed that they were been cheated and marginalized, being one of the grandson of Oranfe, that was why they decided to make the government ungovernable for Alayemore.
This story is raised two questions:
Moremi married thrice: Onisoro ijugbe (Obarese) for whom she begat Oluorogbo, Oranmiyan and later Olugbo.
As Ugbo truly left Ile-Ife after Ooni Obalufon Alayemoore was enthroned, does this mean Offa [Offa Eesun behind the first] had been in existence that time?
Alaafin Sango married Oya Oriiri from Irra Fere [it is some kilometers from the presentday Irra], beside Offa, this claim would place year of founding the first Offa side by side with Irra.
There are more on this history of Alayemore and Ugho people.. Onisoro ijugbe (Obarese), who these historians claim to be the first husband of Moremi was known for 2 things: he's the custodian of Rain according to Otu History. This is evident in a song ife people do sing in February during Obarese Festival.
Ami rele Amu Ojo (Rain) ko'fe oo
(We are going to where Ife people derived Rain)
Ebo Lase
(We have made a Sacrifice)
Ojo ro l’Otu Ife
(Rain Fall down in Otu ife)
Ebo lase
(We have made a sacrifice)

Onisoro ijugbe (Obarese) was also known as the first drawing Artist in out If you go to Obalejugbe, you will see some of the Artworks of Obarese.
Oluorogbo (also known as Obalase), the son Moremi allegedly born for Onisoro ijugbe (Obarese) inherited the two from him, i.e he become the custodian of Rain according to Otu History after him and was an artist too.
Again, during his festival, Ife people do sing:
Olukoro mojo, hinha Lani Ojo (Rain) Lani Eji (dew)
Obalase loni Ojo.

Translation
Olukoro mojo, we are the owner of rain and dew
Obalase (i.e Oluorogbo) is the owner of Rain.
The Oluorogbo Deity is different from Oluorogbo Son of Moremi. No one has distorted any history here. Both are two different entities.
