PoliticsRe: CPC Replies CAN's Comments On Buhari by jjcbuthot: 12:07pm On Jun 09, 2013
domcarez: Thank God the Catholic Church suspended its activities with CAN because of undue politicization of CAN by Oristejafor and Co. However i stil dnt support Buhari,no matter hw u want to look at it Buhari remains tribalistic, how come loud-mouthed fashekin did not mention the favouritism gvn to Niger Delta Militants as alleged by Buhari against the treatment of the murderous bastards called Bokoharam which he clearly sympathizes wit jst because they are muslims?, CPC my foot,we are not gullible ok. Buhari wil stil weep again cm 2015
Will you shut up your ignorant mouth? What did Buhari say about South South that is a lie? Didn't insurgency start from there? Who bombed Nigeria on Oct 1, 2010? Wasn't it Niger Deltans? Who started kidnapping and bombing in the country? Wasn't it Niger Deltans? Did the government of Yaadua wage war against Niger Deltans states to resolve the problem? Dont we have peace in Niger Deltan through the arrangement made by Yaadua? How are you so sure that declaration of war will stop insurgency despite huge civilian casualty and paralysis of the economy of those states? And how will insurgency stop when we dont know and have not done any thorough intelligence gathering to apprehend their sponsors and leaders? The leaders and sponsors of Niger Delta insurgents came out and that was what stopped Niger Delta insurgency. It wasnt the killing of Niger Deltan foot solders and innocent civilians that stopped Niger Delta militancy.

Christians for Lagos governorship position come 2015.
See one of the enemies of progress...

We dont vote based on religion here and if voting is to be based on religion, how many states in south west will have xtians in government?

Dombo, go back to your backward SE states to preach that. Religion has no place in deciding who becomes our next governor.

The criminals that were chased out of power in Oyo (akala), Osun (Oyinlola) and Ogun (Daniel), are they not xtians?

Handsomeemmy: Crush Insurgents Within 3 Months, Jonathan Orders Military

President Goodluck Jonathan has given a fresh mandate to the military to end the insurgent Boko Haram sect within the next three months to enable the federal government execute projects meant for the Northeast geo-political zone which are allegedly stalled by the violence in the region.

See lie... What has GEJ done in South West? Or is there insurgency in South West as well?

Tell me also one major thing FG has done NW, NC and SE...
Just read it on El Rufai's facebook page. Very long but full of stuff. A fitting reply to the Buhari critics.

It says a lot about Nigerians that this man contested a Presidential election in this country against Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and lost. It shouldn't surprise anyone that we are where we are today.

All because of some silly sentiments.
If not for the fanatics who can't pay school fees, dying in hospitals/homes with no hope, etc but will still not want to hear anybody saying anything against their religious leaders, I would have advocated for GMB to file a libel suit against Oritsejofor.
PoliticsRe: Perhaps, Buhari Should Just Quit By Abubakar Usman by jjcbuthot: 5:46pm On Jun 08, 2013
Naijacitizen: The title of this article would come as a surprise to many, especially those who know me and how much I have supported the candidature of General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) since the 2003 election when he decided to join the race for the presidency. But if they understand the saying that life is all about change, they will see sense in the reason why I have taken the position expressed in this piece.

I grew up to know General Muhammadu Buhari as that Nigeria Head of State whose administration between 1983 and 1985 brought some level of discipline to public life, especially in the tackling of corruption that was prevalent at that time.

I was to learn much later that Buhari also made gains in many areas that would have taken the country to greater heights if he were to remain beyond the August 17, 1985 date that he was overthrown by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. Buhari for example made gains in terms of reducing inflation by refusing to devalue the Nigerian Naira as advised
by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He moved to improve the nation's economy by curbing imports of needless goods and introduced a barter trade policy where illegally bunkered crude oil
seized from oil thieves where exchanged with the importation of needful goods like machineries to increase our industrial output and create employment, a policy that enabled the country to export above its OPEC quota.

During his sojourn as Chairman of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), a body funded from increased revenue earnings to pursue developmental projects around the country, Gen. Buhari demonstrated high level of transparency and accountability in the administration of the organisation. In what “New Africa” report in 1998 described as a rare success story, Buhari
developed the country's infrastructure in a manner that is unprecedented. Road and bridges were built, hospitals were
equipped with drug and facilities, instructional material were provided to schools at various levels but to mention a few.

Armed with this information, I had no difficulty throwing my weight in support of the General when he decided to contest for the country's number one seat in 2003 and still supported him all through to the 2011 election. I campaigned in the little way I can to ensure his success, and till
tomorrow, it is a decision I remain proud of. Though I understand that Buhari's regime between 1983 and 1985 when IBB overthrew him had some serious issues of human right abuses, such as passing of decrees curbing press freedoms and allowing for opponents to be detained up to three months
without formal charges, as well as the banning of strikes among Nigerian workers, I simply
weighed the positive and negative aftermath of his regime to arrive at my decision. The selling point I saw is his uprightness and stand against corruption.

With my believe that the number one problem bedeviling the growth and development of Nigeria is corruption, I see Buhari as that man who can effectively put things to shape in Nigeria by ensuring that corruption becomes a thing of the past The hope and believe that I have about Buhari got bolstered barely two months ago when I had the opportunity to sit one-on-one with him in the company of other youths in Kaduna discussing how Nigeria got to where it is today and the enormity of work that needs to be done to pull her out of the mess. Answering to questions put to him, you can feel the passion and love for the country burning in his response. He told us that at the age of 70, he has nothing else to protect other than the interest of his grand children and the people of Nigeria. He told us how as a true believer, whether Christian or Muslim, you don't give up in a cause you believe will liberate the people from hunger, poverty, deprivation etc and so won't give up in his quest to see that Nigeria takes its rightful place as a nation whose resources is enough to make her one of the greatest country in the world.
Good but only a few people are burning with passion to see a great country. Some are naively declaring sitting at home in their villages as we speak as part of agitation to break away from Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Dele Momodu: My Candid Take On 2015 by jjcbuthot: 5:33pm On Jun 08, 2013
OAM4J: His analysis sounds reasonable and convincing till he mentioned Ameachi as the best VP candidate for opposition. I doubt Ameachi or anyone from core South-south can give the opposition the votes they need against Jonathan. Oshiomole will even deliver more votes from SS than Ameachi. IMO, the best candidates for opposition VP position are Rochas and Fashola.

Fashola for his track records on performance will pull most of SW posts especially the undecided/neutral people. Rochas can divide SE votes between Jonathan and Opposition, cos some (who believe/know that there is no way GEJ can handover Presidency to SE after him) will see him as the most likely presidential candidate if Tambuwal/Buhari/whoever should win as president.

Overall, fair assessment.
APC will not present a PDP member as their presidential candidate - it doesnt make sense. Why are they calling themselves opposition if they can't find a candidate among themselves?

Dele Momodu spoke like a fool that he is.

So, to the narrow thinking of Dele Momodu, the next president if there is a change of government must still come from PDP?

Tambuwa/Ameachi - interesting contribution from a self-defeated contender.

Confused people.
Those guys/villagers are confused enemies of Nigeria.

Are the igbos in Lagos and elsewhere also sitting at home? It will be good to sympathize with your brothers and sisters in the village. At least that will create opportunity for other serious minded business people to make money when your shops are closed.

If the sit-at-home doesn't produce enough effect, try hunger strike - I am sure that will work.

PoliticsRe: Why Do People From South East Hate Tinubu More Than Those From South-west? by jjcbuthot: 11:53am On Jun 07, 2013
Very simple...

Tinubu is a rising star in Nigeria politics and his influence is growing far beyond south west. Fortunately Tinubu, as a progressive who has helped to liberate SW from the shackles of PDP, is collaborating with like minds in other parts of the country to liberate the entire country from the shackles of PDP contrary to the wish of our brothers from South East who primitively think the current order should be maintained for sentimental and very shallow reasons.

I am sure if Tinubu promises to deliver SW to PDP/GEJ, an average villager from SE will be worshiping Tinubu despite the fact that such alignment will only in the long run worsen their already pathetic situation.

akpomeme: The question now is : why is Arewa consultative forum and elders of the North kicking against the ban of Boko haram if it is a PDP affair and the party is trying to deal with its problem. Northern bigots grin
Use your brain and read their argument.

I would have expected the FG to stop the amnesty before the ban. The two are mutually exclusive - you can't talk about amnesty or negotiation and at the same time banning the criminal group. You should know nobody will come forward for negotiation or amnesty.

Government should therefore disband the amnesty committee immediately because it doesnt make sense any longer.

There are more PDP members and states in the north than south.
