The death of PDP is imminent - imagine a national party basing campaign on religion.

I have not seen or heard APC talk about religion in their campaign. We even have APC governors who are muslims joining Adeboye (a major religion jobber) in his end of year prayer sessions in Osun and Lagos.

The dumbos from SE are sleeping now with generator noise shaking their Igbos - time in Nigeria now is 2:40am. When they wake up in the morning, they will take it further from where their party (PDP) stopped.

APC should not make the mistake of giving presidential ticket to a defector from PDP. Otherwise, the election will become PDP vs nPDP.

Many will see the election as power tussle between PDP elements and APC will lose its name/position as the opposition completely.

Kponkwem: Your permutation is based on faulty premises. You will be shocked at the votes from SS/SE when the chips are down. There has been changes in the demographics over the last few years. Btw the north has turned the country into an irreformable behemoth-not accepting credible census with state of origin and religion; not accepting merit in choice of candidates and appointees; and opposing a national conference.
Tell us, what is the new voting population of SE and SS put together? 40 million? Keep deceiving yourself.

Muslim/Muslim or Muslim/Muslim.

And by the way, I don't envy Amaechi and Rochas right now.
You are one of the problems of Nigeria. What has religion got to do with managing the nations resources?

In Ekiti state here in SW, both the gov and his deputy are xtians - has anybody complained? In Osun state during the the time of thr thief Oyinlola, himself and his deputy are xtians - who complained.

Dont let me begin to see xtianity is a clog in the wheel of progress in Nigeria. I know Igbos have been a clog and will remain a clog.

It is the constitution that protects our rights as xtians, muslims or traditional worshipers. Why are you afraid of who is the president and VP?
My Pick

(1) Buhari/Fashola

(2) Kwakwanso/Fashola

I prefer option 1 because Buhari will get more votes in the North overall, than anyone else. Like it or not, he is a god like figure in the area. Fashola should also maximize the voted in the SW.

Okorocha, Amaechi, and Pat Utomi will prevent the kind of 99% SE/SS support PDP enjoyed in the last election.
I concur 100%

PoliticsRe: Why the SS/SE alliance will spell the downfall of GEJ in 2015. by jjcbuthot: 7:17pm On Jan 06, 2014
Donmams: That the SS/SE rigged the 2011 elections for Jonathan is not in doubt. However, prior to the 2011 elections, the North had so much confidence that Jega would do the right thing. But alas, Jega aided and abetted the massive rigging we saw in the 2011 elections by accepting the sham results given to him by the SS/SE.
Throughout the entire federation, the average voter turnout was 50% except for the SS/SE where the voter turnout average was 95(!)%. However, the North learnt a painful lesson in deception from the SS/SE and will not fall for the same trick twice. This is why the North will make sure in 2015, everyone comes out to vote. We will not tolerate voter turnouts of less than 90%. Where we can muster 100% voter turnouts we will surely do so. So this is what the results of the 2015 elections will probably look like and why i believe a Buhari/Tinubu ticket will sweep APC into Aso Rock in 2015.

Things to note: If according to these calculations;

1. The Entire South West were to vote for GEJ (PDP), he would still lose the election by about 200,000 votes.

2. If the entire north central were to vote for GEJ, he would still lose by nearly 4 million votes in 2015.

3. GEJ will need the votes of the entire South West and North Central to win in 2015(a highly unlikely scenario considering GEJ claimed it was the Igbos that voted for him in the North, i also doubt GEJ can offer the SW a bribe big enough to give him their votes in 2015 considering how he treated the region in the past 4 years).
4. A Buhari/Tinubu ticket will be hard for the PDP to destroy at the polls.

5. GEJ's administration has sidelined all two biggest voting blocs in the country aligning his region SS, with SE. The total votes of these two regions (15m) is 3 million less than the votes of the NW alone (18m).

6. It shows clearly that GEJ, playing the religious and ethnic card, needed the help of the NC and SW critically to win in 2015. However, he has strangely chosen to treat these two regions with utmost disdain.
Just laughing... How will GEJ get 50% of SW votes? Who will do the voting for PDP? Ghosts or human beings?

Even in Lagos, where we have some Igbos, they wont get 20% of the votes - the turnout will be so massive that the percentage of Igbos will be inconsequential.

Or it could mean because many farmers under Awolowo or in the North lacked sophisticated machinery their efforts at cocoa was a joke.

Again I repeat. This is muddled thinking. The trains you post are ERY expensive. If not bordering on luxury. Even such trains are limited to high-brow metropolis and are relatively few and expensive to maintain. The trains GEJ bought are okay. I for one won't mind if he buys no trains at all but spend money on technical educationq to train the blacksmiths, auto-technicians and engineers who design and build trains. Much better IMO.
Train service is not new in Nigeria. Tell us how this is different from what we were using 30 years ago and why Nigeria should see this as transformation.

cramjones: This is not about tribal politics, it is about strategies that would give APC the numbers. Once we produce a credible northerner, we will be sure to capture the north. And since we control the SW, the only logical thing to do is to produce a SW VP candidate. This is the only formular that can ensure our victory. At the moment FFK through funding from the APC is sponsoring a research in these regions including the SE/SS to see who among the potential candidates will be the most sellable to Nigerians. We are not going to field candidates based on our perception, we must know what the people real want, whatever will do will be purely evidence based. Not like the PDP that engage spirit mediums and babalawos.
It is now Fani Kayode that will pick VP for APC. Interesting...

APC founders should watch this and not allow these PDP agents to dent the opposition party we worked hard to build.

cramjones: MY STAND

The second challenge is for the party to identify and field a northern Presidential candidate that is acceptable to both northerners and southerners and to both christians and muslims from all over the country.
Stop deceiving yourself, there is no northern candidate that will be acceptable to SS and SE. I dont expect an intelligent politician to think that SS and SE will vote for a northerner - how?

An opposition that wants to win will plan well and put their efforts where maximum result is expected - North and SW. Yes, we need 25% in 2/3 of states. Pick a few states in SS and SE as part of campaign focus areas.

The only person that will make the election interesting is if you feed Buhari. Any other candidate will be like a joke. The same thing we told Ribadu in 2011. You need followership and popularity to win a national election - nobody in the opposition has that popularity and followership like Buhari today - you may or may not accept this. Buhari alone can deliver the north and by the time the other governors join hand with him, it will be so tough for PDP and they will struggle to get even 10% in most of those states.

Is Tinubu saying he needs Tambuwa or Kwakwanso to deliver SW? It is a lie - what I notice is that, Tinubu wants someone he can control in Aso Rock. The reason probably he is pushing for Tambuwa.

I will also be disappointed in APC if their flag bearer is a defector from PDP. The election will become PDP vs PDP. They wont have anything to use in their campaign because it will mean nothing is changing and I will therefore advice them to change their logo ("change") to something else.

hardywaltz: When people talk about the trains running again with joy. I look @ them with pity coz I doubt if they know what a train in modern world is.
GEJ just succeed in wasting a golden opportunity of totally revamping the rail sector and moving us to 21century rail transportation like the rest of the world rather than rehabilitating what the British constructed close to a 100years ago when time and speed was not an issue.
The Zaria - Funtua - Kuara - Kuara Namoda 221km western rail line which I was involved in, I was so pissed that so much billions was been spent to rehabilitate a rail line where the Locomotive that will run on it will only be able to achieve 35km/h max speed (for it to achieve the said 35km/h the train needs to run on a straight course for @ least 10mins which is not usually possible); so for a 221km journey on train will take about 10-12hrs including stops @ Funtua and Gusua stations.
What really broke my heart was when I found out that we couldn't even procure brand new locomotives to run on the line from any where in world so we had to open up talks with a company in Lithonia (or something like that) that had recently over hauled their transportation system and was willing to sell their scrapped locomotive to us (I wonder how they will view Nigeria - the giANT of Africa).
The reason I dislike our politician and the praise singers is that they don't ever think or see far ahead. GEJ is only wasting this billions for a few weeks of applause rather than implement a comprehensive blue print that will make the rail transportation comparable to air or land transportation.
I know Jonathenains are easily impressed by any thing they see so to them I know this is large scale development.
Patch patch president... the same thing he is doing at the airports and spending billions of dollars. Money that can build new modern airport and rail system.

cramjones: 2015 Presidential Election: Public Perception of Governance

In my earlier piece, I promised to tell you more about the PDP strategy document titled “2013-2015: Political power and governance road map.” Today, I will focus on how the PDP administration is planning to change the perception of people about their performance. A section of the document, “Public perception of governance,” was dedicated for this purpose. The authors of the document acknowledged the importance of managing people’s perception and expectation.

According to the road map, “perception is everything in governance. No matter the quality of work that goes into policy programming and efficient implementation, negative public perception of government rubbishes its credentials and diminishes its laudable achievements and legacies. The current public perception of government is less than salutary, requiring the intensification of public policy communication to broad publics.”

How does the government plan to enhance its image? The document suggests some steps and actions. The following means and avenues were listed.

I. Re-tooling and strengthening the Presidential media, communication and public affairs/advocacy team with the emplacement of a RAPID RESPONSE TEAM for proactive propaganda and quick address of negative media content

II. Weekly, if not daily, press briefings on diverse subjects by both core team members, media experts and top government functionaries

III. Intensification of public advocacy by the ministry of information, NOA, and other government agencies in the form of press briefings, TV and Radio shows, personality interviews, newsletters, pamphlets, flyers, etc

IV. Drawing up a public advocacy template for ministries, special advisers, SSAs, Heads of extra-ministerial departments in such a manner that in each week, at least, four of such officials would have granted interviews and appeared on talk shows/personality interviews where they will not only tackle issues pertaining to their mandate but also weigh in passionately on the political issues of the moment

V. Monthly town hall meetings by ministers, Special Advisers, SSAs, etc, in their state capitals, at which forum they will vigorously engage participants on literally every single issue under sun

VI. Monthly media roundtable by the core Special Advisers-Political Affairs, Inter-Party Relations, NASS Matters, Civil Society, etc during which they will offer wide ranging perspectives on politics, governance issues, the transformation agenda, etc.

VII. Monthly town hall meetings by the core members of Mr. President’s Economic Team dealing principally with economic matters as they affect the political fortunes of Mr. President

If you see the ministers and special advisers very active in the media and in their various states, they are just acting a script given to them. You should also watch out for massive propaganda in the media telling you what the government has done and what the government will do. If you say anything negative about the government there is a team on ground that will respond swiftly. These include social, print and electronic media.

My next post will be on the establishment of a political intelligence unit and its function. It is one of the most interesting parts of the document.
Good write up!

But as far as some of us in the south are concerned, any opposition arrangement that is built around using a defector (Tambuwa) from PDP as a presidential candidate of APC will mess up the whole essence of opposition and blur the line between the so called old order and the new power arrangement. The "Change" motto of APC will mean nothing but a joke.

We want change - real change, not just change of name of party but charatarers leading the country.

As for 2015, the only candidate you have that has the followership and principle to defeat the PDP is Buhari with a gov like Oshiomole as VP. Present another person from the north at your own detriment.

Stop deceiving yourself and the other politicians who like deceit. The bulk of your votes will come from the North and South West - and south west is won as we own the governors there. Hence, you need someone with large followership in the north and that person is Buhari except you people want the status quo to remain with a new set of looters in Aso Rock and Nigerians will easily see through this.

And dont make a mistake of presenting a defector from PDP as your candidate, otherwise, nobody, I say nobody, will take you serious again.

I am not a Politician neither am i a Fan of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan , I don't Belong to PDP or any other Political Party.
I have repeatedly had a Clear Dream about President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Winning the 2015 Presidential Election. The first one was
on the 18th November 2013, i woke up around 2 o'clock and i said to myself what is going on , dreamed about Mr. Presidents
been sworn in as the Winner and President in 2015 ? i remembered the dream clearly and i went back to sleep , on the 12th
December , i had same dream just exactly like the first one , i said to myself what does this suppose to mean , on the 20th December,
i had same dream again , i decided to share it after i had same again on the 22nd December again .
I also decided to do some research on the truth and Reality of dreams , I understand that we have Conscious and
Subconscious Mind .There was no time i thought about Mr. Presidents so much more that i would go to Bed with a conscious mind
of a thought about him which could possibly be translated or transmitted into my Subconscious Mind,i also read about
Psychoanalytic Theory of Dreams:
Activation- Synthesis Model of Dreaming: during my research about Dreams.
I went about my Normal business without showing any Concern or Interest in President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan or whatever that is going on in his Administration so why the Dream? To make my self clear i did not register during the last Presidential Election which means i never Voted I don't often dream but anytime i have a Dream , it does come to Reality . I am not saying i am a Saint anyway, That is just the
Truth .There is a Pregnant Woman in a Compound i just Moved to , The second day i Moved into the Compound , I had a Dream
about this woman , in the dream she was seen worried and Afraid of supposed Death/Loosing her baby and having Complications
on the day of her Delivery ,i saw her sitting alone and worried , i also saw that she was conceived of a male Child. I woke
up check the time Alas , it was 2 am , i slept back , in the Morning , she was the first person i saw , i went straight
to her to Narrate my dream Experience , been new in the House , she was Amazed and she confirms all i said to her .She was

Encouraged . She delivered a Male Child and there was No Complication , This is just one of my Past Dream Experience, One
Amazing thing about it is that , i usually wake up around 2:00 to 2:30 once i have a dream and i never forget any even in the
Morning .I am not in anyway discouraging any Organization, Political Party , anyone from their/Political ,Ideological Principles
,activities and Beliefs , I am only given a Personal Account of what i dreamed about. 2015 is very near , Lets see if my
dream would come to Reality again .The Spiritual Controls the Physical. Any Physical Reality is a Manifestation of Spiritual Activity Results, Sealed , Stamped and Delivered . Nevertheless , Let us Watch.
I am 1 Million % sure This Happened to me ,i had the dream 4 times , However a Personal experience is Personal which is open to
Criticism and divergent views,if you call me an Attention seeker /a Liar/someone that needs Cheap Popularity/ whatever i
would accept it in good Faith and never be annoyed or Angry because the truth is what i have just said.
I have decided to share this virtually in all Blogs and Social Medias .Of which i discovered that Nairaland is the first Point of Call.
Would be Glad if the Moderator can send it to the Front Page. I am new here though.
Thanks to All.

In some cases, he couldn't afford to fly to certain areas. Buhari campaigned around the country only by being driven to campaign stops with borrowed lancruisers.
