prettyboi1: Honestly, I've always been a very patriotic Nigerian, but it seems like I'm giving up on the people of this country... Not because I don't love the country, but because of the people I have to call compatriots (fellow Nigerians). Nigeria is not the problem, Nigerians are the problem. A people who love trivial things over simple common sense, ...a people who carry religious and tribal sentiments and bias over common sense and patriotism,.....a people who prefer to be superstitious even when simple logical reasoning is required,...a people who prefer political party affiliations to national patriotism, ...a people that can be so easily impressed by bvllshit and very simple things. Man, it's depressing.
I love Nigeria and I always wish and pray we get our acts right, utilize common sense and start thinking about progressive things like advanced technology, military superiority, economic superiority, advanced medicine and science, advanced arts etc but instead, my people prefer to think and fight over stupid things like 'tribe', or fighting over religious bias. God is good and I'm sure God wants us to impress Him by doing great stuff using our common sense, why do we have to become either Muslim or Christian fanatics? Did God ask us to hate each other and fight or kill each other for Him? No!
Ask the average Nigerian if he thinks about and wishes Nigeria would become a really great country, and I bet you every Nigerian wants that, but then the same people that want these advancements are the same people thinking about and engaging in daft and low-life things like tribal bias, religious bias, political party fanatism etc. When good people come around to start doing great things in Nigeria, we would insult them, castigate them, judge them and turn against them...tell me then, who is going to do the great work we all wish for so that the country would grow and advance? Oh boy, I love Nigeria forever, but I tire for Nigerians....our mentality NEEDS to change! Nice construction of English but back to d topic u never condemned or commended the Fulani massacre. It is important we know Ur stand on d above topic before we know between Nigeria and Nigerians who is to be blamed. But if I might chip in, the same Nigerians u blame here as d problem behave well and are very responsible men and women outside d shores of this Lugard's contraption. I leave it to u to now figure out d real problem. |

Politics › Re: ICC Prosecutor Visits Nigeria - Indicates Interest To Commence Investigation by jlinkd78(m): 10:40am On Apr 14, 2016 |
castrogee: People don't even understand how the ICC works. It is a court that prosecutes crimes that fall within its jurisdiction, crimes such as: Rape, murder, massacre, destruction of a civilian society by any means, etc. They have professional judges. The prosecutor's team will first investigate the case submitted by the plaintiff to ascertain if the case falls within the court's jurisdiction and also to ascertain if the case should go on owing to the fact that some cases may be minor or trivial, like an unintentional killing of a civilian society. For example, if the police in trying to quell a riot accidentally kills people, though the ICC has the jurisdiction over such matter but they may not go on to prosecute the case, because such is the tragedy of our every day lives and in this case ICC will only issue a directive to the relevant organ or authority responsible to be more reasonable in their actions next time to avoid such human casualties.
All these go down during the ICC preliminary investigation, the preliminary investigation is conducted to ascertain if the case can go on to the next level which is now the full investigation of the various evidences rallied by the plaintiff against the defendant, needless to say that at this moment the ICC is almost certain that the case will go on, i.e the prosecutor is almost certain that he is ready to prosecute.
Unfortunately, this is where Nigeria is right now. The coming of the ICC prosecutor, the chief prosecutor for that matter is to signal to the Nigerian authority that the result of there preliminary investigation indicts them (Nigeria), and they will go into full investigation and also to intimate the Nigerian government to be ready for the investigation because certain govt officials will need to be examined. Now, IPOB is claiming to be in possession of forensic evidence against the Nigerian army i.e. evidence that shows that the bullets used against arm-less protesters indeed came from the Nigerian military (and this is scary), coupled with video evidence. This is the reason why the army is sweating to brand IPOB a terror group. But the truth is that you don't just label a group terrorists without strong evidence of their ties to destruction and untamed violence and evidence to show that they have carried out such crimes like ISIS is doing now. For Goodness sake the Nigerian govt should know that they are appearing before a panel of judges, learned and experienced judges for that matter that understand the terrain and they want to present these baseless charges before them?
Predictably, some of us saw this thing coming, and raised alarm, but Buhair being a dullard thought everything about power is fiat. he ordered his COAS to use hyper force on unarmed protesters, because he is buhari, well I wish him good luck. Now IPOB has said they will resume their protests once they get their TV station running, the implication is that this time they could hold the protests for the time they want without harassment because the world is now paying attention. I believe this shouldn't have gotten to this level had Buhari not been reckless with his decision. Over 8 cases have been established against Nigeria in the ICC, I told a friend of mine that the next battle ground in the world is Nigeria. Its unfortunate that it is only in Africa that you see unarmed protesters been shot with such reckless abandon, and yet Africa will claim to be unfairly treated by the west. My brother while I was reading d introductory part of Ur writeup I erroneously thought u were one of d zombies but going down I found Ur contribution as one of d most informed and intelligent position paper on d subject matter. Having watched d You tube video of d conviction of Bemba by this same Prosecutor I doubt d magic DAT could stop d indictment of Mr Buhari vis-à-vis d Big Army. The woman made it clear DAT d Head of Govt will be held accountable for unwarranted killing of unarmed civilians by agents of d state. |

D bitter truth is dat it was Buhari who first covertly referred to d country as a zoo with d infamous baboon and monkey occupants and when Mr Kalu shortened it to d zoo (which is d truth for a place of habitation of baboons and monkeys) then he must be killed. For d fact dat nobody has been able to counter ur commentary with stronger argument, it is obvious they all know u v said d truth. |

"I am afraid I did not succeed in the election in Kogi, Bayelsa, Rivers. I think that more Nigerians are killed or killed themselves in Rivers than in any particular state. At this stage of our political development, to remain brutal is shameful and as a government, I promise we will do something by the next general election"
That was his direct statement... He failed more by saying he promised to do something by the next general election, meaning he can't do anything before then. That makes 2019 election to be an experimental election. At least we have other re-run elections and even states like Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Anambra & Osun will be conducting their election soon, so why wait till the next general election.
Buhari is not organised nor prepared for governance Bro Ludacris tnks for ur epic reply. Buhari men really need to do more in their construction of grammar and logic cos if this was d verbatim of his address then I ll blame more of his script writers. First Gej had 29ministries not 42 but had 42 ministers (36 States n one from each zone). Buhari kept saying it was 42 Ministries which means they dont know d diff btw Ministers and Ministries and this is lame. U made mention of oil boom of 1999 to 2003 and still poured ur venom at last administration (emphasis singular) which shd v been past administrations or more specifically mention Obj who was d helmsman during dat time. By using last administration in d script u meant GEJ and another poor blame game. Another lie dat he has been repeated over time is about BH and 14 L.g.a b4 handover. U want to be remembered for having respect for Nigerians but my advice is dat u just dont wish it but have to earn it by showing us respect. Not even watching d Aljazeera video wia unarmed protesters wia killed by ur army, d silence on d Fulani herdsmen on rampage and d selective unleashing of d Dss on ur perceived opponents will deny u this title u want to be remembered for if u leave tomorrow. olokeded: www.nairaland.com/attachments/2056217_apc_jpegac400acfc063c990eecab1effb6ce5fc
– Indications have emerged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not paid some of its outstanding campaign expenses – More than 70 outdoor advertising companies contracted to handle the Ambode/Buhari campaign billboards in Lagos are still waiting to get paid – Advertising practitioners reveal that they are enduring a choking debt burden
NAIJ.com has been told that the companies that ensured that President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode billboards took over 95% of the available billboards in Lagos have not been paid up to 5% of their payments for the job.
The outdoor advertisers lamented that they were invited by the former Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) managing director, George Noah during the election campaigns to do the jobs but only one or two who insisted on being paid were paid partially, with more than 70 companies remaining in limbo.
“The new MD, Mr. Mobolaji Sanusi has refused to honour the agreement between us and his predecessor, yet his men have started clamping down on our members since around October last year, shutting down our billboards for non-payment of their own dues. “He has also sent new bills for the year while the billboards are not working since he shut them down but we have explained that the APC billboard monies have not been paid to us by the former MD, George Noah who he claimed has been paid by the All Progressives Congress, Lagos,” a part of their statement read.
When pressed on why they have not met with Noah over the matter, a member of tone of the companies said: “Our association has met with him but he is insisting that the APC is yet to pay him, all he keeps saying is that he is still talking to his principal but all we are asking for is payment for jobs we did.”
On why they have kept quiet about it till now, another interviewed member representing one of the affected companies said: “We hesitated from coming out till now because we don’t want to embarrass the government or the APC but we were advised by the current LASAA MD, to go after George Noah and the company he used to issue the media order, ‘Media Worth’.
Meanwhile, media reports earlier today suggested that President Buhari may deactivate some of his social media accounts. The president’s media aide on a new media Tolu Ogunlesi said an audit had started with a view to close down the redundant ones.
https://www.naij.com/775547-2015-elections-apc-yet-to-pay-for-buhari-campaign-billboards.html Naturally I wud v empathized with these folks cos I understand what it means in business to be owed that long but considering that these folks were d conduit of deceit that brought this govt of 'chain' I can only sympathize. Its painful dat Apc cant even pay off those dat had to lie against their conscience thru propaganda and vilification of GEJ only to turn them into 'wailers' suddenly. Next will be d e-warriors who will soon meet dia own disappointment. Considering dat d Apc won in d State under review, Lagos, shows dat dia wickedness knows no boundary. |
