[quote author=JMarines post=75896957] I’m really sorry it took a while. Good afternoon Sir VO: Good afternoon Madam Me: I passed on my passport and documents to him as he stretched out his hand to receive them. VO: Where are you going and why? Me: I’m going to Houston, Texas. I would love to use same hospital and doctor for the delivery of my baby when due and I have family living there too. VO: Oh, you are pregnant! You had your last baby in the US? Me: Yes VO: Do you have a copy of all your receipts from previous birth? How do you intend to pay your bills?what do you do? What does your husband do? Me:Yes I do and they are all attached. We set aside funds every year for specific projects and for this year, we will be spending our savings for My medical trip abroad. I told him what I do( self employed) and where my husband works. I also showed him a referral letter from his company which was written for this purpose. VO: What’s his position? Me: I told him. VO: He moves over to the statement and questions why certain amounts were reflected at certain times. Me: I explained telling him that the two huge sums reflected were: 1) Upfront usually paid to staff of certain companies and multinationals at the beginning of the year 2) Treasury bills we bought over a year ago that was remitted to our account. He held on to the statement as well as receipts and requested for a minute. VO: How much did you spend on medicals only during your last birth? Me: I told him I prepaid my entire Hospital, Dr’s & Anaes bills before my arrival into the US. But eventually has a Caesarean section when I paid for a Vaginal delivery. The difference was paid after discharge . I paid about $10-12k. He cuts in and says delivery in Texas is approximately 18k. I told him I paid what I was billed and that it can be found on the official website. VO: I am not disputing the fact that you aren’t owing but I need to see an itemized bill from the hospital that shows all the charges from previous birth. Me: Here is the zero balance letter, addressed to the consulate as well as receipts VO: These are confusing( I agree with him on that) Call the hospital and tell them specifically that the VO has made a request for a particular document, they will give it to you. He hands me a paper for administrative processing and asks if I would be needing my passport soon. He added I should send it across as soon as possible. This is my transcript and I pray for God’s grace to get this visa so I can finally hang my boots after this delivery. Good evening my wise Nairalanders. Unfortunately, my application was refused(Checked application status online today) Please could you read through my transcript above to decipher what possibly could be the reason for a refusal? Do you think my previous bill of about 10k was too small or new bill 12k too cheap?, too discounted ? I look forward to your responses, please. Thank you loads. 1 Like |

Starmate:The VO requested for: Bank statement, zero balances from the different service providers as well as itemized bills and receipts, Doctors’ appointment and prepayment, budget sheet, Dr’s correspondence, etc. This is all I can remember. Just go with all documents. It is better to be over prepared. I wish you great success in your forthcoming interview. |

Starmate: Amen. He requested for all bills from previous delivery, bank statement, Doctor’s correspondence, budget sheet, prepayment receipt, etc. I’m not sure I am allowed to post that here but an itemized bill is a detailed billing ledger that a provider can give you, which lists all of the services you received during the visit, and includes the procedure and diagnosis, etc. |

Greatg0809: I pray I get by his grace. It is still undergoing administrative processing. Yes, I attended my interview. Every document you can think of was requested. The VO said he needed to see the charges from the hospital. It seems the discount given from the hospital is raising an eyebrow. 1 Like |

Hello Nairaland family, I was delivered of a beautiful baby boy exactly one month ago. I thank God for everything As a first time mom, it hasn't been easy posting updates as I've had to nurse every now and then. I need an advice on VOA. Due to the hurricane, my Son's passport was delayed for a week and is due for delivery today. We are slated to travel on the 4th of September and I don't know how to get prompt response from the Nigerian immigration(Sent a mail to them on Tiesday about VOA for my son, explaining my challenges but got no response). The airline provided a reservation for him based on consideration(Hurricane Harvey). Please I need your responses. I will be so grateful. God bless. @All, thank you. 1 Like |

Mandex11: Hello Mandex11, I had challenges with these airlines inasmuch as I did thorough research as well as visited the airline desk offices prior to travel day. Although I was 31 weeks plus gone, Arik Air staff told me they would fly me at 32 weeks as I was due to travel few days later. However, Air Peace staff said their policy states 31 weeks but since I didn't have an obvious belly, I should use Port Health for certification before flying. I should have opted for Arik, but the airline only flies on specific days and so I had to settle for Air Peace. Mehn, armed with my Doctor's report and cleared by the ground Staff, that's how the flight attendant refused me to fly. The flight was delayed for another 30 minutes because of me. The attendant found out it wasn't specified on my Sealed fit to fly, my gestation age. I brought out my medical records as well as fit to fly I used a month before, but the attendant refused to look at them saying it was expired. The Pilot even asked him to waive it for me. I was eventually given a form to fill should anything happen to me, which I did. Note: I was informed by the flight attendant that Air Peace flies pregnant women at 33 weeks. Just ensure you/your wife's fit to fly contains ALL vital piece of information(gestation age, that you are fit to fly, etc.) 2 Likes |

teeboy95: Hi, I opened an account with Bank of America 2 days ago and they only requested for my international passport with visa in it. Maybe you should try another branch. Are you in Houston? Maybe it depends on your location. |

Hello, I am extremely grateful for all the support I have received from this Nairaland family especially @Baeboss, @Nef and @Princeadeade. I flew British Airways at 32 weeks plus on 14th June, ( My Uncle in the US booked my flight with his dollar card as the equivalent I got from travel agencies wasn't less than a million naira). Before travelling, I ensured I did the following: 1) Paid my entire hospital bills( Dr+Hospital) using Form A and Dr Z. 2) Wrote a letter of Change of intent to the embassy about 3 times(lol).Got a generic response as well as a personalised one acknowledging receipt of email. 3) Received a letter of acceptance from the Gynaecologist showing receipt of payment which was meant for the POE. 4) Ran all necessary tests/ got my medical records as well as fit to fly from hospital back in Nigeria. 5) Carried adequate cash to sustain me during my stay( Applied for PTA at Skye bank, received dollar equivalent the following day. Also got additional dollars from a friend who didn't exhaust his PTA). 6) Jotted down the contact details of my host and pre informed her of the date and time of entry into the US. 7) Carried vital documents as well as change of clothes and shoes in my carry on bag. Booked for a wheel chair( Made things so easy for me). Finally, here is my Point of Entry/Travel experience(POE=Dallas, Final Destination=Houston): I got special assistance as I was wheeled towards the self service machine. The guy did everything for me. We immediately proceeded to the CBP officer because my luggage had not come in( BA(Los)-AA(LHR)-AA(DFW)-IAH). CBP: How are you doing Ma'am? Me: Fine, thank you. CBP :Do you have over ten thousand dollars on you? Me: No, I don't. CBP:What are you coming to do in the US? Me: To rest and most importantly for Childbirth. CBP: Oh, you are pregnant! Me: Yes Sir. CBP: When are you due? Me: July/August CBP:Stamps me in for 6 months and says, "Welcome to the United States and I wish you safe delivery". Me: Thank you. I spent about 2 minutes with the CBP officer. Thank you all for the wealth of knowledge as well as pieces of advice. My appointment is tomorrow and as my delivery day draws near I pray God almighty grants me as well as other Moms-to-be 'Supernatural Delivery'. I shall come back to testify and share more beautiful experiences with you all. Love. 27 Likes |

Good morning everyone. I will love to notify the US Consulate about my change of intent to travel. I have a B1/B2 class Visa, it was primarily for Business( to attend a Professional Conference ) but my Visa/ Passport arrived some days after I was slated to travel, so I couldn't travel. I applied for this Visa while undergoing my studies in the Uk and returned immediately after graduation. I took In immediately but unfortunately had a miscarriage. I have taken in again but my husband wants better healthcare for me this time around. We have decided I will go for childbirth in the US with our savings, however I don't know if my visa will pose any form of challenge. Kindly give pieces of advice/ suggestions on what to do should there be any challenges at the POE. I am due in August. I will be grateful. Thank you . 1 Like |
