Ejiné: How come Southern Africans in general kinda lack endurance when it comes to football? Not just them. Aren't the Malians supposed to be able to run across the Sahara for fun? The tournament being in the middle of most football seasons does not lend itself to high energy levels since preparations in dedicated camps are limited. |
fredoooooo: see mali turn barca oBest passing move of the game to bring it out of Defence |
Apart from the mis-kick that led to the goal, that Parker has been crap sha. What do people see in him? |
This SA keeper goalkicks are the bomb. He's good. |
See gun like my Granpapa Shakabula! |
Two technically poor teams. Abi na the pitch? Can't pass, can't control the ball, can't dribble. |
justwise: He has been told not to turnout for training today till next week. However, although Odemwingie regrets his actions in travelling to London, he insists his long-term future remains away from The Hawthorns. "I am a very emotional person who sometimes doesn't think," he told Sky Sports News on Friday. "I will still leave the club. It is only a matter of time." He really needs to chill out, stop talking for a while. How many clubs will touch him seeing as he seems to attract trouble and burn his bridges everywhere? |
thegoodjoehunt:No, the general interpretation was that he meant the fans once doubted his commitment. A lot of fans got angry especially on the bulletin boards which I visit. They were especially shocked because they went ot of their way to make him feel welcome him after his ordeal leaving Russia. He later apologized (not clarify the tweets, mind) and deleted the tweets. On the same bulletin boards, fans have turned against him, entirely due to his own actions. |
livethinme: I see, so it doesnt matter what a fellow country man does, so long as he is a fellow country man then we shouldnt be able to criticise him. Are you a touch not my anointed Christian btw?"Touch not my fine boy" more like, one suspects |
thegoodjoehunt: With your high classed logic show me the tweet he blasted West Brom fans.See above. Why did you provide an abridged quote of his tweet? The general interpretation was he was having a blast at the fans for which he apologized and delete the tweets. |
thegoodjoehunt:My guy, you are revealing yourself as jut a PR tool, I thought I was having a debate with someone serious. Why provide an edited version of the tweet? This is what he actually tweeted (I've added bits of what you left out) ... Odemwingie tweeted on Saturday: "I can understand the reaction of few Albion fans on my desire to leave the club. Real reason? Cos they once doubted my commitment. "Want to know why I wanted to quit top flight football last summer earlier than I wished to? They know at the club. "Albion fans are not the only reason, but made it easier for me to decide to stay and try my best to forget about the disappointment. "I succeeded in doing that. But it's not getting better. Before bigger disappointment comes one day, I better leave on a good note. "Best compliment I have ever received in my (career) as a player, manager like HR spending to bring me for mission 'impossible'." http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/premiership/odemwingie-in-trouble-over-tweets-16266793.html |
thegoodjoehunt:You keep repeating this hoping in the end it will be true. The clubs never agreed anything before Odemwingie drove off to London. This is from the West Brom official website, see for yourself ... http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/no-deadline-day-move-for-peter-632183.aspx ALBION can confirm that no agreement was reached with QPR over the transfer of Peter Odemwingie before the closure of the January window and that the striker remains under contract at The Hawthorns. The Club were extremely disappointed to witness TV footage of Odemwingie arriving at Loftus Road on Thursday evening despite further talks between the two Barclays Premier League sides proving fruitless. Odemwingie was also never given permission to speak to QPR about a potential move. Chairman Jeremy Peace said: “This evening’s developments have brought a conclusion to what has been an unsavoury affair. “As our Sporting & Technical Director (designate) Richard Garlick has repeatedly said in recent days, we had no need or desire to sell our core players. “The only way we would have considered letting Peter leave was if an acceptable offer was forthcoming and if we had found a suitable replacement at relatively short notice. “Neither materialised and, in the end, the matter became a point of principle as much as anything. “Peter has acted wholly unprofessionally. He must now accept the fact he remains under contract for a further 18 months and has to focus on his Albion commitments.” |
thegoodjoehunt:I think you are trying to underplay this (unprecedented) incident simply because, dunno, "he is our son". Well, that's the perogative of you and your blue ink but the timeline of his actions speak for itself. Many players try to engineer a move to another club for various reasons, including money. The only difference here are actions which can be held directly at his door. First of all, the ill-advised and vociferous lashing out on twitter, at each and everybody whose support he might have had in the past and could posibly need in the future. What's the point of that? Same as he did with the National team - it is the height of arrogance to walk through life burning your bridges. Maybe that's where his problem lie, a psychological one of arrrogance and self-conceit. He shows up at another club without a definite release from his previous club. Now, at this particular club, QPR, the media are camped out there because they know it is likely to be the busiest club on the last day of the transfer window, and the Manager has the reputation as a wheeler-dealer. When he's not let in, the story falls into their laps, they don't have to do anything!! He has behaved so badly he is now a laughing stock everywhere, just listen to all the media stations trending, even Kids TV. That should not be a Nigerian vs Foreigner thing either. I only feel ashamed for him. |
Not many black people I'm afraid. It's good you're a Catholic. Go to church regularly and I guess you'll soon make friends locally when they see you're serious. |
The sad thing is that all those racists in Russia will be saying 'we told you he was trouble'. Osaze has disgraced himself over the past few days in the UK, trust me, and I'm usually one of his staunch admirers. |
Poland has its fair share of racists on the edges of society so you need to be prepared. On the other hand, the young/educated are very forward looking and easy to strike friendships with. Polish people value friendships once they've taken you to heart so I recommend you first actively seek friendships among your fellow students or peers. Avoid lunatic gaterings like football matches since the racists are emboldened in such groups but you should have no problems moving about unharassed in most cities. More than anything, you need to display an attitude of self-confidence, you are spending your own money and not free-loading so you demand to be respected. Curb your enthusiasm a little when looking for female company. With enough time, you will "shine congo" because, as a black person, you're secretly desirable to white women but don't go overboard with overt randiness. Let it come to you, the country is still a little catholic-conservative and mixed relationships are rare. The racists do not like it at all so be careful where you indulge in this activity. It goes without saying you need to be based in the cities. Of all the cities, Krakow is most cosmopolitan and has a huge student population from all nationalities. Warsaw is less so but still a good place to be based as a foreigner. Then the tri-city metropolis on the Baltic coast in the North - Sopot, Gdansk & Gdynia - which has a lot of scandinavian influence. Are you going to be based in Gdansk because you are studying Marine Engr.? |
Afam4eva: You have to understand that we're in Nigeria where places are grouped mostly on the ground of cultural affinity and not necessarily based on geographical affinity. Middlebelt is just used to describe the minority regions in the North though technically, osogbo could be middle-belt. It's the same thing with the NIger Delta. Thanks for your comment. There has to be some geographical logic to it though. I guess the most educative way is if someone took the map I attached above and drew a pair of parallel lines (running East to West but not neccesarily longitudinal) to encapsulate where this "Middle Belt" lies. |
If a definition of a "belt" is a land strip that runs East-West across the country. Looking at the Nigerian map, Oshogbo is on the same lattitude as Markurdi. Ogbomosho is higher even. Does that mean Oshogbo and Ogbomosho are "technically" Middle Belt-an? Is definition of Middle Belt geographical, or based on cultural affinity? No ethnic fights please. just educate us. Thanks.

I lived there briefly as an infant but Gombe seems to have developed into a nice, laid-back sub-saharan town. The kind of place you can chill out far from the maddening crowds. A thousand curses on Boko Haram!! To the OP, thank you. Pictures like these is why I will always embrace "Nigeria". From Sokoto to Calabar, Badagry to Maiduguri ... it's my country. I enjoy these brief glimpse into various aspects of Nigerian life, knowing I can visit, when I want to. Unity in diversity indeed but God forbid, if the ethno-warriors have their ways, na to begin queue for visa be dat! |
sweet_gala: We let too many crosses swing in during that match and if we do that next game,we'll be punished terribly.Echejile! Made them look like Barcalona. |
Yobo anywhere-belle-face defending don come. Now we are inviting pressure |
Two more goals, we win the group and avoid CIV. Playing against 10 men, we should push!! Lazy eejits |
