Absolutely. I love Tinubu over and over again. If not that Buhari is an ungrateful person, we all saw how Tinubu backed him up that year. Buhari owe him lots and lots of supports. A public commentator, Farooq Kperogi, in a Facebook post today, 27th May 2022, has alleged that INEC is in bed with the ruling party, APC in view of the new decision they have taken to extend the primary election timetable by 6-days. He alleged that the extension was purportedly timed to favour only APC. Hence INEC can't be trusted. This is coming shortly after INEC gave a statement regarding the extension at the end of it's engagements with stakeholders. As we await the press statements of parties regarding the extension, what do you make of Kperogi's statement?

The only major political party that INEC's 6-day extension of the primary election timetable is designed to benefit is APC. There's no question about that. PDP has already screened its presidential contestants and is ready to conduct its primary election this weekend.

APC, on the other hand, hasn't screened its contestants even when it publicly it said it would conduct its primary election on Sunday. It at once shows irresponsibility, impunity, and an indication that it knows it can manipulate INEC at the last minute to bend to its wishes.

APC has always wanted PDP to first elect its candidate to determine how it will choose its own, and it just got it because INEC has shown itself to be a spineless and feckless toady of the party in power.

INEC is evidently in bed with APC and can't be trusted to conduct a fair, credible, and transparent election.

No N6bn judgment against Dakuku Peterside — Legal Team

Against what is being bandied in the social media, the Supreme Court of Nigeria did not enter into an N6 billion or any such judgment against former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency,  NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside.

In a terse but legal position of what transpired at the Supreme Court today, Friday, May 27, 2022, the legal team explained that what the apex court dismissed was an appeal by Peterside challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal to sustain an earlier dismissal of his preliminary objection to the service processes adopted by the litigant.

It further explained that the origin of the matter was Suit. No. PHC/810/2016 between Hon. Dakuku Adol Peterside V. Dr Peter Odili, brought against Peterside by a former Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili, before a Rivers State High Court, in Port Harcourt, presided over by Hon. Justice Iyaye Laminkara was then Chief Judge of the State.

Not satisfied with the processes of service, Peterside had filed an objection through a notice of preliminary objection challenging the service of the originating processes. In her ruling, Justice Laminkara dismissed the objection ruling that the services were properly instituted. But dissatisfied with the court’s stand, Peterside approached the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division, which, however, dismissed his appeal, ruling that the lower court was right after all.

Peterside, still not satisfied, filed Appeal No. SC. 667/2018 before the Supreme Court which was determined today by the Supreme Court. So by today’s decision of the apex court, the Port Harcourt High Court can now hear the substantive case.

Your observations about the East maybe right but be assured that among the dynamics that influence elections in Nigeria, religion has been key. Such a move has the capacity to make voters that were previously undecided to take a strong stand. Besides, it is not that APC is undefeatable. In better climes, the opposition is not supposed to be struggling to win the 2023 elections in view of APC performance. So, such an irksome move by APC will definitely sway the election to the opposition. But we have not seen or heard all, so much depends on what will happen at the party primaries and the choice of VPs. My take

It's the dawn of reality. With the present happennings in Nigeria, a Muslim-muslim ticket is unsealable. And with the Muslim-north sense of entitlement, they won't allow a northern Christian to become the VP. As a result, it has to be a southern Christian with a northeen Muslim as running mate. Any permutations that do not factor this in, is doom. My take!
