Sorry oo what ur landlord did is the right and legally permissable by de Rent Contro And Recovery of Premises Laws, a yearly tenant is entitled to a 6 months notice, and afterwards A Notice Of Owner's Intention To Recover Possesion, but de supreme court in a plethora of decided cases has said dat a tenant whose rent has elapsed by affluxion of time becomes a Tenant At Will and deserves only a week's notice. I've advised u proffessionally.
