If na my days my teacher report me to my parents say I dey look longingly at other pupils snacks, na that I go explain with tears whether na bobo and biscuit I never taste before. BlueRayDick:

I believe we are talking about a middle-class family and not an extremely poor family na. Smart TV was still around N350k before Buhari left. That is not expensive, even civil servants can afford to get them via membership of co-operative societies. If someone earning 600k cannot use Smart Tv, then who can afford it then?
As regards the snack, u would not want ur child to beg other kids because u are being principled or frugal. Snacking is something almost every kid does. U can't just go zero on snacking if u don't want ur child to be begging other kids or worse still, steal from others. Na ur pikin teacher sef go advise u to try dey give the pikin if at all bobo and coaster biscuit make other pikin for rest Lol... I'm talking middle class here. I grew up going to pry sch in the early 2000s and I'll grade my parents(esp my dad as a little above middle class) and the pry school I went to is a Catholic school in Abuja. The school fees is high wrt the other schools my peers were going (as at 12k when I graduated in pry sch and other schools as at then ranges between 4-7k) yet I don't take snacks to school. The only people bringing snacks alongside food were the very rich kids and you can easily spot them. I dunno about now but even my uncle that sends his kids too doesn't add snacks to it and no, it's not a public school. It's all about instilling it sha. If our parents hear that we beg or look person food longingly, we don die for house that day. And God bless you first let you steal. Well, everyone with the way they view things sha cos we were actually taught that taking snacks alongside food is luxury. And funny enough, every of my siblings and uncles are following that approach. It's a big reason I found it surprising hearing it here, I never knew it's now normalised. As for the TV part, I still see smart TV as luxury. Most average/middle class families I know of, only few uses smart TV. Most na all these wall mounted plasma TV. It can be wide too. Shey no be just to watch TV and dstv mostly ni |

BlueRayDick: Only rich kids take snacks to school ? I don't agree o; even kids who attend public schools still take bobo juice and biscuit to school along with their lunch. If u don't a child snack do u want him to beg from his mates?
mobile internet means the normal data u subscribe to like Smile, Ntel, swift and the likes which u make use of anytime u are at home. U use for ur Smart TV, office work u brought home or personal surfing of the internet. Except u are saying u don't owe urself internet connectivity while in ur own home.
Please point out more luxuries in the list The bolded, I see it as something new gen z upbringing sha. In our family we don't do it and even while growing up, I nor my siblings weren't exposed to such sha and we didn't see any big deal in that. But no matter how we want to look at it, it's still luxury. It's just one of those luxury instilled as necessity by most parents. Just as some people can't do without having/subbing DStv in their home because they think it's necessity. As for the others, aside personal surfing which I use on my phone, most of the others is just once in a while and it's not most families that have this home internet sef. Average Nigerian family man doesn't have smile or swift at home in this our obodo naija. As for Smart TV... Lol, that's really luxury. Except one have it before cos he's once Rich, what would make a family man earning like let's say 200k have smart TV when he can buy normal wall Lcd TV? Na egbons full here oo |

What if the days wey Dem dey owe salary nko?
Your uncle might be doing other side gigs that's fetching him money which you don't know about Owing salary is out of the equation bro, we're talking of ideal situation like you getting 600k monthly. My point is that even with the side gigs, he won't meet up 600k. There are sometimes the money might be delayed or sort but once it comes, he'll settle everything. But the important point is that the basic necessities of the family including medical necessity (like little illness or injury) he's able to provide for it. |

Emaprince: You buy GOTV
This is where cut your coat come in. But for some one who was once easily subbing DSTV and suddenly couldn't afford it due to high cost of thing, it means surviving on 600k is now tough. That's prospers point. Subbing DStv is luxury. When they say cut your coat according to your coat, it simply means cut down on Luxuries. Nobody go die if dem no sub DStv sef whether compact or not are there are different forms of entertainment. Prosper case of 600k would be valid if the 600k can't take care of NECESSITIES of the family again or it'll be very difficult to take of the necessities no matter the cut. But If it can, then Cut it. And that's what most families in Nigeria are doing (Which is Iz.zou point so far) |

Theflint1: 37,500 per month.
Tey keep saying the things there are luxury and I'm struggling to see how it's luxury. Jodera say instead of DSTV/GoTV, make d papa dey download film instead...no be money for data be that, or maybe na those 360p videos wey na only phone you fit see wetin dey go on...or maybe office data. There's ways around some of these things sha, or maybe the kids just don't watch TV, and you go for fairly used books and old newspapers as form of entertainment...maybe. My uncle have one of his neighbours he normally tips for him to do night plan and download films for his kids. And with just 200#, the guy download films 480p, and the 200# will yield like 5-7 films, depending. Now this kids watch the downloaded films during the weekend and he does it like twice a week(sometimes once a week sef). It surely means for a month he's spending #1600 for 20-28 collections of films. Tell me why these kids will lack weekend films in the laptop and tell me why this Man isn't prudent enough? I'm not saying every parents must do this, just showing you that there are ways to cut down on this Gotv/DStv stuff for kids. |

What other luxuries do u think are on the list for someone who lives in an expensive major city? If you're giving Kids base foods to take to school, why still giving them snacks?? I still feel it's a luxury for the kids to be honest. I see some kids bring that to school (food plus snacks) and one thing I know is common while growing up, they were very Rich family kids Family Data? What does that mean.? If it's mobile internet family subscription. That's the first time I'm hearing it too. If a child is old enough to have a phone, then he's old enough to save at least to sub for his own data. Spy360: You know that I for one is not chicken and I won't hide mouth or deny my personal opinion even if they turn out not to be right.
I did say that I preferred ESR to Kai for LAM and I gave my reasons which are very logical. Which is that he is right footed and therefore a counter balance for Odegaard at RAM who is left footed. I still stand by my word because believe that if given play time we will enjoy ESR more than we are enjoying Kai. So Kai may be the best option for the manager now at AM but it's my believe that ESR will even be better if given enough time to assert himself.
In the case of Kai vs Jesus, it is the same logic that Kai gives more output as a false 9 than Jesus especially in pressing and in changing the positional dynamics. Kai's movement is better and with his size he dominates defenders better. While Jesus overloads the attacking third, Kai overloads the midfield (which for me is better, though sincerely let me admit that I may be wrong here because Jesus is so inconsistent) but then it's an opinion. This is a very logical stance and I don't see how you are confused about it apart from the fact that you love being confused. Is confusion a hobby to you? Saying Kai gives more in pressing and positional dynamics than Jesus is pure lie from the pit of hell except na Another Jesus and Kai wey dey Arsenal Tula of Russia. Kai would never have given that assist to Saka against Nottingham forest neither would he have given the assist to Trossard in crystal palace. Kai can't even score that goal against Man u that Jesus scored sef. No be same Man u opportunity Kai had against Liverpool and he started falling down looking for penalty cos he's sluggish. Nothing Kai gives more than Jesus except we want to go full-on route one football but then even winning aerial balls Jesus is no slouch either even though I know Kai has the edge over here only because of height. Never put Kai in Jesus in the same sentence regarding CF biko. The less said about Kai the midfielder, the better for everyone |
