And I really hope fans manage their expectations concerning Ethan. He will be coming in to fill a big shoe at a crucial time. We don't even expect him to have that big impact like Odegaard sef. He just need to play his game and bring that creativity and we'll be okay. Zinny injury just fvck am up. By now, he should have been knocking at Arteta's door for a spot in that midfield |

toluxe0075: I feel Arteta is somehow stubborn. He is the guy with plan A and like to stick to it till the very end. Even if there is need for a plan B or a need to tweak plan A, people like him hardly consider that until things get out of hand.
Besides, if Arteta choose not to trust Nwaneri right now, when is he going to do that. We have the likes of Yamal, Saka, Garnacho, Mbappe, Messi, Mainoo and others starting their career early because some coaches decide to trust in them. It’s Arteta’s turn to do so. I know he might not turn out the way we might want him to, but at least try him. We cannot know how he will turn out if we don’t use him. You're spot on with this. Like to be honest, I don't know why he's not using Nwaneri presently. The guy played many preseason games and he's the reason you sold Esr and loaned Viera. I don't get why he's treating him like someone that's a greenhorn. If he doesn't have the trust, then I don't get why he sanctioned those decisions It's very very painful |

mostob: The attack sef is mid. We no get creative midfielders no mean say make dem dey gba. Odegaard's absence is masking our poor decision making at the final third. I think it's just our system even though Martinelli own don too much. If we had two creative 8s, e for better but Arteta deh go for only one creative 8 and one mechanical runner and na why we deh suffer like this as the creative 8 is out. |

mostob: As soon as I saw the midfield yesterday, I told a friend na mechanic football Arteta wan play. I knew we would struggled because of lack of creativity in that midfield. Two things Arteta got wrong yesterday was 1. Playing Martinelli ahead of Trossard (even if Martinelli should start, Trossard should have come in for him earlier) 2. Partey starting ahead of Jorginho. Jorginho is more creative and with Rice, he wouldn't be exposed much. Na the mechanical football we go dey play now if we no start Nwaneri soonest. If we're always waiting for the perfect time, it'll not come. And it'll be foolish for them to slowly integrate Nwaneri if they knew he won't be ready to fill in Odegaard's shoes for times like this. I no know wetin him see for Havertz wey make am think say him fit dey creative. As e dey now, all eyes go dey look our attack as Mid cos no glue to link dem. As e dey like this now, na advanced stoke/Burnley we go be until Odegaard return. Na only Nwaneri or probably Zinny fit change the outlook. I just hope it won't be too late by then |

patrickmuf: Arteta is so afraid of losing that he is now adopting a very defensive approach against any decent side. It's only a matter of time before the fans begin to voice their concerns. Havertz should play upfront while Jesus drops deep and play as the AMF if he doesn't trust Nwaneri while Martinelli should settle for a bench role as he is out of form.
In attack, I think Saka should step up; he should transform into a modern-day winger with the propensity to drift into the AMF space and create chances rather than stay outside for the most part. I think that's one limitation in his game he needs to sort out.
This is just my honest take as a football fan. The thing is that Odegaard is Arteta's livewire. I've been saying it here consistently since last two seasons and even had argument about it with some of my fellow fans here. I assure you, if Odegaard was present ystdy, we would have balled Atalanta. The problem is, I don't know whether he thought Odegaard isn't human, hence isn't susceptible to injury. The only reason why I was partly comfortable with the sale of Esr is that apart from his injuries, I was thinking Nwaneri would be given Esr slot(since Viera left too). Trust me, Nwaneri is the closest thing to what Odegaard can give(even though they're different type of players). Not Jesus, not anybody. Another person is Zinny but him no deh look that one side for midfield. This is Deja Vu all over again, only that this time, we won't be playing 343 as we were doing then before he got Esr and then Odegaard. See ehhn, forget any decent side sef, even if we meet Bournemouth presently, you fit no recognize this team as the arsenal we all know. And Yes, Martinelli needs to be benched!! |

johnjunior39: Martinelli is feeling settled because he know no much difference between and Trossard.
We just don't have a striker so unless someone score for us , we no get striker. That game I watched ystdy was not really a striker ish. We were not coordinated, we were not playing our game. That game yesterday was someone who will hold that midfield down and link everyone up. If we don't have such a person, we'll keep on blaming attack or we'll be hoping for one fluke or clinical goal. We need to be dominant and play our game. If we don't do that, then OYO for us |

daveP: I'm getting tired of predicting my teams outcomes. I really am. Chai.
This is a loss imo. Raya is the difference with that double saves. It is discourteous to not reward such a GK with a W or a goal at least. That's the appreciation such heroics deserves. Unfortunately, the personnel lacks any bite to make any unique difference on the night that champions are born, reborn, and grow up under.
Mikel Mourinho himself 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️ For the sake of this UCL format can't he just get a striker?
We have 3 spots with loops. A temporary fix with his long balls approach is to get a 9. That way, it shadows any loops from midfield. We will also win PK. In this team, I can't even point to 1 that will win pk easily for us. Not that nonsense Saka did last season.
Anyway, City up next. Oh my days!! I'm afraid against Man City cos we'll be so much defensive without even threatening them. And even if we escape Man City, this pattern is not sustainable cos we won't be able to hold possession and use it effectively. He knows the key to his attacking game is Odegaard's creativity, why would you sell Esr if you know you don't want Ethan to take his place immediately. It's just so sad |

E get reason why I deh hype Odegaard and always say he's the brain and fulcrum of this team when it comes to attack cos he sets the tone in Everything, Literally EVERYTHING, we do. See the way we don lack ideas cos Odegaard no deh this team. This just makes me remember how we were so parking the bus and playing Insipid football until ESR came to our rescue (starting against Chelsea) before we eventually loaned Odegaard. Now we're back to that same Arteta arsenal but this time with more finesse They better start integrating Nwaneri quickly or bring Zinny to midfield (I don't even know when he'll be back) else this season will just go downhill before Odegaard becomes fit. |

daveP: 4months absence loading.
In July, i was highlighting why we need deputies for these guys. At least if you're emptying the squad, get the direct replacement of these guys that play almost every minute, if not for the epl, but for the ucl fixtures, wrt lessons from last season ucl.
But No.
Now, i am afraid for Saka at this stage. All this better don't come back to haunt us. I hate this kind of outcome. Except Odegaard have a relapse but it's speculated he'll be back before our game against Liverpool which is just next month. As for deputy, for them to exit both Esr and Viera, I think they want to make a way for Nwaneri. It's the main reason I want him fast tracked cos if they believe he's good enough (esp to create space for him into the team) then he's old enough. All these slow integration like say he's one 3rd choice doesn't sit well with me As for Saka deputy, we have Sterling and Jesus there. Waay better than the Viera Arteta was thinking |

BlueRayDick: We will definitely not be parking bus against Atalanta .
As for the Tottenham game , I watched an analysis of the game and it was not parking the bus per se; we literally played to their strength .
We allowed Spurs have the ball while we parked our midfield making it difficult for them to break us in the middle . We know their wingers are not the best in 1v1 situation ; so we allowed their wingers have the ball double marking them.
If u notice , u will see they got frustrated at some point and were just hurling the ball into our CB position which our capable CB’s kept on “budeying out “.
Arteta took a gamble in that game by allowing them have the ball and we rely on our choked midfield and defence to limit spurs chances . If u notice they had 4 shots off target while we had 0, that’s evidence of their frustration which led them to be shooting aimlessly Spot on.. thanks for this I really like the analysis cos it really broke down and gave a different view of what really happened on Sunday. At a point they were really frustrated sef It's UCL night. I'm just so hyped up |

mostob: Atalanta is good but we should be able to get the job done. I'm particularly concerned about Timber. He is playing too many minutes. Maybe Calafiori will in for him today. We need him fresh against that low budget Mahrez. I think Timber we'll be fine. Defenders no deh too deh affected (in terms of fatigue and recovery) compared to midfielders and attackers except of course the said defender is injury prone. But Calafiori should be given good minutes Sha. I hope so even if it means coming in as a substitute. |

mostob: Maybe till Zinchenko is back sha. He is the next after Odegaard who can help us retain possession at the final third.
Ethan no too get time to dey dilly-dally with the ball like Odegaard. He is suitable for transitional tactic. It's true sef. I momentarily forgot about him. Zinny's Injury fvcked him up against Tottenham sha cos that was the only biggest opportunity he had for him to stake a claim in that midfield. As for Ethan, I really don't mind if he's different from Odegaard in terms of skillset cos that might be another weapon as long as he's creative, press resistant and have a good eye for pass and good at shooting, then we can still need him there. He doesn't need to be really dilly dallying like Odegaard to play his game. |

Yeah, I also doubt he will but I just want Nwaneri to be given these experiences and time minutes cos we really need Odegaard deputy ASAP. Sanctioning the exit of both Viera and Esr all for the slow integration of Nwaneri doesn't make me comfortable. It'll be crazy for us to be playing bus parking one way football just because we don't have Odegaard (or a creative spark) in the team. |
