Hello @Joe @Dere1,

I don't think anyone should be in a position to advise on the number of pages for an LOE or SOP.
The reason is because you do not know what content or information that the person has put in there. U may want to ask first before outrightly saying that it would bore the visa officer. U may want to ask to help read his or her SOP or LOE then better advice. So that the person does not reduce the information that may just be what the VO needs to see,

I have read on several forums and blogs outside of Nairaland, where people have said that its always better to provide more information than required if space can contain it, than providing less information.

No one here is a visa officer and you do not know what extra information they look out for which may be the icing on the cake and the additional reason for approving your application.

Please follow your heart play the devil's advocate on your application. Ask yourself this. Are all the information that I have placed there relevant and important. Are the information I have placed in there strong career or professional points or reasons for my study in Canada?

You also don't want to get a refusal and be left with the guilt that you would have added this or added that.

Then follow your heart on the number of pages.

There is no 1 size that fits all, please always know this. There is also no visa officer here on Nairaland. We are all just second guessing and leveraging on past knowledge and information based on trends of approvals or refusals.

goingforward.

Very grateful for the advice

Good Morning house and DOUBLE TWALE to our Honourable GURUS for their insurmountable contribution.

PLEASE IS 5 PAGES SOP NOT TOO MUCH FOR THE VO? HOWEVER, I AM THINKING OF EXTRACTING SOME INFO TO FORM MY LOE SO I CAN EMPHASISE MORE ON THE REASON FOR MY TRV REFUSAL. ALSO, PLEASE IS THERE ANY FORMAT FOR LOE AND IF YES WILL NEED A TEMPLATE FOR TRV LOE.

THANKS

I can not answer whether your docs can be returned or not. But you need to know that there are some documents that are original and are yours and as such u must not submit the original to the embassy . E.g. your original school certificates . Make photocopy of the certificate , notorise it if you so wish and submit the notorized copy .
However, docs like letter of introduction addressed to the embassy must be submitted as original cuz after all you can not submit letter addressed to Canadian embassy to US embassy . I stand to be corrected .Lemme know if u need further clarification

Thanks alot. It is well understood now

you don't need to submit original documents, either copies or notarized copies but its best you submit notarized copies. CIC don't accept originals cause the submitted documents apart from your passport won't be returned to you

Thanks for clarifications.

If u have any document addressed to the Canadian embassy .you have to submit the original . And if you're submitting your SOA ,it is must be original too . But docs like your certificates and all (I'm sure you know the answer already )

As for notorization . You can notorise if you so wish. But even if u notorized a doc addressed to the embassy . You must submit the original cuz the doc is to the embassy and not for you . Docs like letter of introduction from workplace , reference letter from bank addressed to the embassy e.t.c

Very grateful for your response. Can you please clarify Bro/Sis... do you mean when i submit original documents they won't be returned?

Frankrobbn1:

joe10,

I am sorry about the outcome of your visa application. Please pardon me that I was unable to answer your questions on time, I have been so busy lately and I find it very difficult to answer questions that are thrown in here. I only do so, at my convenient time.

To add to what Hisignature has just said,
Looking closely at your profile, the Visa officer is not after your financial sufficiency, either the visa officer has doubt about your return back home after studies.
As I always say on this reputable forum, payment of upfront tuition is not a prerequisite to Visa approval. As stated by CIC applicants are expected to show proof of funds for their first year of studies at their respective bank accounts and show willingness to pay when the need arises. There was no time CIC instructed an applicant to complete an upfront tuition before visa application. Applicants that do so, only do that at their own expense, while others pay because it's a request from their institution to pay a required (compulsory) amount of tuition deposit, in order to reserve a space for them(acceptance fee). Hence, since your school is not asking you to pay tuition, you don't have to complete an upfront tuition. You may decide to pay tuition only if you were denied on the bases of insufficient funds, just to prove to the visa officer that you've the funds available.

So back to business, If I may ask you Sir,
What's the duration of your proposed program in Canada? Is your intended degree program higher/lower than your already completed degree program in Nigeria? These are factors you need to also put into consideration.

To your questions:
1-) As long as this ICAN syllabus list will further buttress your study intent and give reasons for your return back home, I'll advise you include them in your next application.

2-) Provide little explanations on how your wife and kids tends to cope while you are away for studies, a rental income is fine. Add documents to evident this fact to be true.

3-) In as much as you did an upfront medicals along side your previous refused application, you don't need to undergo another medical test again. Simply include the E-medical slip that was issued to you at the hospital where you completed the previous medical test to your next application. The Visa officer will quickly use the UMI number that is located at the beneath of the medical slip to track your medical result and update it to your Mycic account.
Furthermore, be guided that your next visa application will start afresh and will undergo the normal processing. There are high possibility that a new visa officer will review your next application, so go ahead and include relavant documents that will portray you as a genuine student that will leave Canada after studies.

4-) A bank statement is valid for 3-4weeks (1-month) at the time of visa application submission. Thus, in your case, it's advisable you obtain an updated statement for your next visa application that ends in July 2018.

Above all, to be able to convince the visa officer lies solely on your efforts towards putting up a rational SOP.

It shall end in praises in your next application!

All the best!

Proff Frankrobbn1 I am highly grateful your insightful advise.

HiSignature:
With the little I have observed on this forum, I think the problem here is not about funds as you have mentioned nor is it about you paying your tuition fee.
I think the question we need to be clear on first is if indeed you just plan to come for CPA and leave afterwards or just an entry route into the country...
Since you are only coming for a certificate course/programme which Nigeria has its equivalent that is well recognized and not a university/college degree, the question becomes the reason why you want to be Canadian certified when you don't plan to practice in Canada. As a matter of fact, you are in your final stage for ICAN, may I ask if the programme you will be doing for CPA is off higher level than what is obtainable with ICAN.
(I am not so vast in your area of qualification, so you can please shed more light on that)
If you can be articulate about why you would embark on such and come back to Nigeria to convert the degree, maybe that might help more.

With what I know about CPA, CPA profession assesses international credentials and provides streamlined programs to help internationally trained accountants become Canadian CPAs. So why would you become Canadian certified when you are the final stage of your ICAN program which is recognized in your home country?

You wouldn't have to do biometric anymore but I am not sure for the medical examination and if possible, please print a new SOA (I learnt GCMS note takes about 30days, so if you are applying sometimes 3rd week of July, I will say a statement that ended in March is not ideal, that's almost 4 months after fact).

I hope this helps.

Yes. very helpful and thanks for your input.

Pls can I print Apr-Jun SOA in addition to the one I used in Mar.

@Frankrobbn1 and other gurus in the house please I need your advise/contributions.

I was recently refused study permit on the ground of 'purpose of visit'. The VO is not convinced that I will leave Canada after my study.

Profile:
School: CPAWSB Alberta Province

Fees: I did not pay a din as it is stated on my acceptance letter that I must a study/work permit before I can register for the program and enroll for courses.

Previous Study: Graduate in Accounting and presently in the final stage of ICAN. Also i have 4yrs work experience in Accounting/Auditing.

Sponsor: Elder brother who provided 7 months bank statement of N25m closing balance. Though the VO did not tick insufficient fund as one of the reasons for denial(The only reason for denial is purpose of visit and am very sure that in my gcms note the VO must question why I want to take such professional program program in Canada at a high cost when I can take similar program here in Nigeria.)
Also, I plan to state in my next application that my elder brother does not have child yet(dependant).

Questions:
1. ICAN syllabus list Canada CPA as one of the professional bodies that can get direct membership with CPA designation. Pls can I print and attach this page in my next application to show that I will return to Nigeria to barge ACA designation with CPA designation?

2. Can I also include evidence of rental income that my wife and kid would use to sustain themselves while I am away? Can that boost my eligibility chances 'Purpose of visit'?

3. My online status already shows that I passed medical test(upfront), completed biometrics and background checks completed also that I failed eligible review.
In my next application, am I still expected to do another medical and biometrics? Also, will the next VO concentrate only on my eligibility review or start over from the beginning? I asked because I plan to present more proofs/points that I am eligible to study for Canadian CPA program and return to Nigeria after my studies.

4. Can I still use the SOA I presented previously which ended in March 30th 2018. Is it advisable to present it again in July when I reapply or can I add Apr-June 2018 SOA to the old one for submission. Someone advised that I can still use the same SOA for July but i want to confirm from the house.

PLS NOTE THAT I HAVE REQUESTED FOR MY GCMS NOTES... JUST WANT TO PREPARE AHEAD WHILE WAITING FOR THE NOTE.

PLEASE I NEED YOUR ADVISE/CONTRIBUTIONS GURUS/EXPERIENCED APPLICANTS ESPECIALLY ON HOW TO CONVINCE THE VO IN MY NEXT APPLICATION THAT I AM ELIGIBLE TO SCHOOL IN CANADA AND WOULD RETURN TO NAIJA AFTER MY STUDIES.

THANK YOU.

Good day guys... I notice something strange on my profile just now. I sent a message the immigration in Ghana, Kenya and Lagos to explain reasons for my delayed application ( Almost 10 weeks now) and why there is no update on my profile even though i did upfront medical. I just signed in now to see that my medical now reads "You passed the medical exam" but since inception background check still reads "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information".

I am confused now... Was it my message that prompted this? Can this be a good sign and should anticipate final decision soon or mere coincidence that it was updated today? My guy na different questions i just dey ask myself o. Me still dey pray sha

@ Steper4u, kindly send a mail to accraimmigration@international.gc.ca, accra.immigration@international.gc.ca, lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca immediately. Your application has exceeded the normal processing time and it will not affect your application negatively. It is possible that a VO is unknowingly sitting on your application. 16 weeks without a medical call is outrageous. A colleague of mine waited 24 weeks before sending a mail. She got approved a week after sending the mail

The subject should be something like this
UPDATE FOR STUDY PERMIT APPLICATION IFO STELLA MARIS YAKUB APPLICATION NO: S309090909. Ensure you state that your application has spent 16 weeks with them, which is way beyond the normal processing time.

Shoot the mail now. Wish you the best
