This research examined the effect of orphenedol on lipid profile in albino rats.

Twenty albino rats were used in this study. The albino rats were grouped into A, B, C and D, five rats per group. Groups A, B and C were treated with 21.00, 42.00 and 84mg/kg body weight respectively of orphenedol solution for seven consecutive days and Group D was the control. There was a decrease in physical activities in the test animals while in that of the control there was no visible change in physical activity.

There was also a decrease in food and water intake in treated groups while in control no change was observed. There was a significant increase (P<0.05) in triglyceride, total cholesterol, and low density lipoprotein levels of animals administered with the drug. A significant decrease (P<0.05) in high density lipoprotein level was recorded in the treated groups when compared to the control .
