Well i understand what you are saying about the latency issue, but the DB approach should be able to solve the problem at hand considering the fact that we are talking about microseconds here. Here i get 700-1000 ms latency on my VSAT link, still am able to communicate with people around the world. The latency issue is mostly applicable in mission critical scenerios and mostly voice/video related stuffs. A DB approach will provide the much needed solution to what that guy need. Afterall we are not talking about waiting for millions of entries. |
cheekee, it's like this you gave your brother some money to help you to build a house and pay for your siblings school fees, instead of acting as directed he went ahead to lavish the money on himself. Will you keep a sealed lip over that? |
I understand quite well that your script is trying to do at least. The problem I had was that where do you run it? On google or DB, which was relating to getting some page after some milliseconds. Are you telling us you have never heard of MySQL. |
@joftech, can you please tell me what is ICT and govt policies relating to ICT and wazobialinux?@Sbu, i know you know what ICT is. Naija govt policy is wack or better still non-existent. Wazobialinux is a Nigerian Linux distro. Omo na wa for you joftech ooo weti you mean? and beside how do you plan to assist Nigeria with the little you have? make i even ask you, abi all you want is to continue telling people sir and ma and make we no become oga one day.. Omo no be me tufiaquaGoog Nigerian, i know you are the one that will bring back naija's lost glory. Why must someone give to a country that find it difficult to give one the basic things of life. You work for the govt no pay, no stable/regular power supply (or do you want to do your free coding on genertator), no access to credit card payment(or don't you know the charges on the alternatives) etc You see naija is not the kind of country one can die for, if you do have just wasted a resource. |
People,But how good is investing in stock when the ultimate goal is to wait for dividend. |
I always laugh when those guys at NITDA talk about seminars, workshop, and other stuffs that are irrelevant to ICT development in Nigeria. After their establishment they have not been able to come up with any noveldevelopment plan for the nation's IT sector. For example they have not been able to do anything about .ng after all these years. Well i don't blame them. Why put people that are educated in 1970s computer world in charge of a 21st century technology sector. I wonder why govt can't just disband that agency instead of wasting money on such a white elephant. What do you think. |
Why don't you go and put your money and time in Wazobia linux. What's the govt policy on ICT development? |
whatever *rolling eyes* but the truth remains at least that's what my bible tells me!!!That's what the bible said, agreed. But of you look in the bible (old testament) you will discover that 90-95% of the laws have been done away with by Christians, why is it that some pastors held strongly to that Malachai chapter. I wonder how much they are even paying that guy for putting that verse in place. These people bellowed from the pulpit telling you the money is God's, now you see them going about in SUVs and designer suits while church members go about groaning. You can only wonder if you that they are calling theif is the real theif or them, they claimed the money belong to God now they spend the money lavishly, is it that they are the God they are talking about. MY own belief is that God does not know money. The way these pastors talk make God looks like a beggar and a forceful tax collector, afterall Jesus turned Matthew from a tax collector to something better. |
cheekee, why did it take you so long to come up with it. Don't we even have something of that nature on this thread already. That verse is like using the Tanzaniaian constitution/law to rule Nigeria and Nigerians here. |
I mean an API that will allow me to query my own (or any other person's, provided i can supply the needed/required ID and password) bank account from the program/web app that i will like to write. Sort of google/yahoo API that allow you to query a particular part of their map system. I was thinking about an application that will display a ticker on the desktop which will be updated on a realtime basis. |
I was wondering if it's possiible to write a program that can retrieve someone's bank account update from Nigerian banks database. |
@sbucareer, it's true i tried learning Java once and i have to backoff with immediate alacrity. I learn most programming languages that i know myself without taking any lecture(s), just learning on my own. Despite having some C++ background i still find it damn difficult to get the damn thing into my head. I gave the texts i was using to a friend, he abandoned learning it too. Maybe if am able to get someone to sit me down all month long my brain will be receptive to Java's gospel. I don't know why a simple reading can't get it into my head despite the fact that i learnt VB, PHP, CF and even C++ by simply reading. Or is it that am dumb? MS will trounce java one day.MS has already done away with it. They did not remove that JVM in XP without a motive. |
Some of the PCs on my network are without antivirus and they are connected to the web. But i have disabled downloading of files with some extensions (exe, vbs, zip, com, inf, dat etc) at the gateway. |
Their shares which was initially sold for N10.90 now sales for N19.64 but is being offered @ N16.90If since 2004 their share have been able to gaing just 1.8%, that's not so much of a gain. Considet google.com,their IPO share price was $300 but as at today it stands at $381. Just as Seun has pointed out why are they still running to an over-saturated market to raise capital. As far as I am concerned, bank business is funny business, so I would never invest in a bank unless I'm purchasing a controlling share. Unfortunately, the 25 billion naira requirement makes that extremely hard. You only need 10% to have a controlling share in any copany. But that will make you to be vulnerable to insider trading charges. |
I use FL Studio 5 too. But i don't know how to mix voice with the beats. Maybe you will pls let me know how it's done. Thanks. |
Pendelite, which area of IT did you finance? Do you know those guys you funded, do you know how passionate they are with the project. If you get anyone that's passionate with what he's doing am sure he will give you a good return for your money. |
Thanx guys. I think I'll just try and learn as much as I can basically around what interests me. But do u think Java is too hard?JAVA is damn hard to learn. The learning curve ain't worth it. |
I only asked people to vote, i don't know how he became the phatezt dezigner. |
Is it a must that it must display in a pop-up window? How about a part of the site. |
VC is not really all about IT and Tech companies/startups, it can be in just any other fields of human endeavour. But the IT sector is one major cashcow for VCs. That's what that yeye Transcorp suppose to look into when they go about talking about taking on Microsoft, Toyota etc. Is that the kind of man that will invest into IT in Nigeria? He'll just impeach the CEO one day and replace him with some dude who didn't go to secondary school. The feudal lord of Oyo state will just download all the money meant for R& into his Molete castle for a hot amala and gbegiri filled carnival. ![]() |
can you provide the link to your homepage so i can know what you have already. I don't understand your question mybe that will help me a lil bit. |
That site is Oleku's work o. At least they have that effizzy (bling bling) of Flash. |
Venture Capital/capitalist (VCs) are companies or individuals that are into the financining of start-up projects/companies. They provide the take-off grant and at times financing and operating funds for companies/startups. The money they provide are not loans, they simply invest in the startup with the hope of getting back their money and a percentage of the startup market share when it finally take root. The need for a VC arises from the fact that startups do find it difficult to obtain bank loans despite having a veritable business plan(s), product or service to market. They can also not go to the stock market to raise funds due to some requirements that they can't meet. Companies like Yahoo, Google and a host of other ICT powerhouse today were financed by VCs/Angel Investors that are reaping the benefit of taking such leap of faith back then. Some of the well known VCs are Sequoia Capital, Venrock Associates. Venture Capitals/Capitalists normally get their initial investments back when the startup go to the stock market for the IPO (Intitial Public Offering). You can read more about VCs in the US here http://www.nvca.org/ . |
I will like to know why there are no venture capitalist here in Nigeria for the IT sector despite the billions of dollars that are been reaped from the global IT sector. Share your views and comments. |
Another thing that make Linux secure is that the kernel is detached from the apps. If a rogue app go down it won't bring everthing down. From the ground up Linux was designed to be secure. But Windows has some legacy codes that are still ruining the show till 2morow. @Poju i will recommend that you start with Basic. |
Green is Glo's traditional colour. But if people also use green it shows their Naijaness. Flash creates some effizzyness for people, hence the usage. Simple GIF animations will do better in most of those places, some people are just designing without the basic know-how. |
Hi Y'all,Learn the basics of programming. Know what happen behind the scene, that way you will be able to take on any language. |
The inclusion of Nigerian languages was started by the guys at gnome (hence the usage), you can read about read about it here . Just like the Yoruba Google page, the fad is not really going to catch up. 100% of people that have access to a PC can read and write basic English that can help them to navigate their way through, so i see no reason for all these languages. And i will be stupid to dump some well known distro that i have been using for a relatively new one. All these forks are damn simple to do only that you must have some good tux know how. Making a Linux distro is like putting a puzzle together, the solutions are ready made. Naija need better stuff than re-inventing the wheel. |
Thanks for the info. |
Seun, i have an account wth them but where can i get a reputable rep here in Nigeria. And what's the issuing bank for graphcard. |
Layi what does the National ID looks like? |
into his Molete castle for a hot amala and gbegiri filled carnival.
