In Nigeria everything goes. Some people are always quick to come to pastors rescue without even bothering to question what most pastors say. Nigeria problem is due to not questioning people that are in place of authority. You see people bringing out money for what any right thinking person must be able to deduce is a ploy from someone telling them to bring money, still they will still be telling you it's God that's saying it, my question at times it does God know the color of money?, have we brought God down to our own level? Am sure if it's in the US that a pastor is saying all these they would have question him why he did not come forward to avert that. Pharaoh in Egypt dreamt about something, he called in experts and they hired Joseph who analyse the dream and proffer a blueprint with which they made a plan against the hard days ahead. That's what's called a prophesy. A prophesy is supposed to give people a clue into the future so you can make preparations for it, it's not suppose to be "this is what i tried to prevent". When it becomes "this is what i tried to prevent" it means it's basically a guessing / try-your-luck game. You state matters factually so that everyone will be out of the wood. The problem with the aviation industry is well known. How can anyone with with his right sense imagine an airport that's operating to be without electricity, no radar, bad aircraft,no standby fire fighters nothing nothing and still expect everything to go on smoothly. When i raised the thread Are Nigerian Pastors deceiving Nigerians, some of you raised some eyebrow, but if we are to look at it from this perspective are they not deceiving us. We need role models that will state things the way they are. Just some days ago Pat Robertson (of 700 Club fame) was saying that Ariel Sharon was suffering because of moving out of Gaza strip he was quickly rebuked by Washington, when will our government learn to do the same thing. |
This prophecy is excitement inspired. Just because he is happy to be in this year does not give him leave to use God's name in..."Wise(men)" will always capitalize on events to buttress a point. |
I don't think prophesy are mostly true most of the time. If anyone is smart to see all the propehsies that pastors have been churning out you will wonder how the whole world has manage to remain. People believe in prophesy because they like to have a fore-knowledge of what will happen in the future, it's human nature and i don't blame people that capitalize on that weakest of human beings. I wonder why some people (including pastors) did not predict the crash before those people persih in it. I know of a (Nigerian) man of God who predicted that a famous person in Nigeria was going to die in December 2003 (he was specific). Few weeks later, Bola Ige died.Goodguy i know you will always support pastors. But do you really know the source of all these predictions, and beside if someone say something will happen does that mean all they have said will happen. Jesus has said it all "The rich will keep getting richer." |
sbucareer thanks for starting this thread. I wanted to start a thread like this today until i saw this. The old-fashioned Pyramid schemes has given way to MLMs in Nigeria. The most prominent of them are Tiens Tianshi and GNLD (although they sell products too). There have been claims of villa, cars, yatch and plane rewards for participants. I will be glad if anyone will be able to share expereinces with these companies. |
Frontpage is rally good it all depend on how good you are with it. www.firstbanknigeria.com was designed with Frontpage. |
Well am happy for him. Those guys have used him enough as far as am concerned. Imagine them giving him their second hand navigator and then buying Hummers for themselves. Am not denying they contributed to his career, but He made them too.Am not sure if you guys will share my view on this issue, but i don't think leaving Kennis Music or Nigeria for that matter will really bring out the best in him. Here in Nigeria we know him, we hear what he is saying and also appreciate him but for him to go to jand or yankee i wonder the level of awareness people overthere will have for him. It's like if David Beckham will ever have the same recognition with Kobe Bryant in the State. |
It's all good. No qualms. |
Joftech, since you evidently know so much about 'template sites', why not tell us the fundamental difference between a template and Custom website? What parameters do you use to determine which site is a template site, or is it just good old voodoo? The evidence are all there for all to see. Am not saying you have not tried but we are talking about "creativity" here. I will not like to go into the details of how i identify a template or not, but it's not voodoo neither is it space mathematics. |

I will like all government transactions to be web based. This will greatly solve the problem of stacking files upon files in some termite ridden archieve. I will like online schools(secondary, university, etc) in Nigeria too. |
The power problem is not a joking matter for anyone that uses it for business. The power problem is more or less the only problem i have with Nigeria. In my area they are doing 6 hours rotation. This means if you don't have gen you may be out of work for the whole day. In my own opinion the problem with NEPA/PHCN is not power generation, the main problem is power distribution. Most of their substations, transformers, cables and poles are really in need of massive overhaul, instead of fixing them they are wasting money on generation. Privatisation is the only way out. Let's remember PHCN is only a caretaker, they are not the final owner of NEPA. They are still more or less the same old NEPA except that they now have new operating structure that's akin to a private company. |
If assembling PC is manufacturing them then Otigba is the biggest manufacturer in Nigeria. It's not cost effective for PC manufacturers to make computer parts. Also if all PC makers decided to make components themselves there will be vendor lockins since most of the components won't be compatible with products from other makers. Zinox is not the biggest here, Otigba is it. |
now dats what i talking about, exiommedia ha a cool webprescence, really cool.. and there based in calabar.. mmm im impressed though to many slices but the design concept is off this part off the world. maybe some 'guys' can learn from then TongueThose sites(http://www.exiommedia.com/ & http://www.exiommedia.com/) are pure templates. I don't really consider using templates web-desgn. I charge based on the possibilty of getting a bigger job. |
Good advise from a former Ruler, who was once forced out of Office.I pray this people will not give the military boys a veritable reason to seize power once again. The politicians here have wasted more more than what the military has stolen in their entire regime, still we are all still reeling from the inefficiency of their maladministration. Since 1999 we can boast of regular power supply, rule of law and basic human needs. Pensioners are dying without getting what (gratuity) they have laboured for. This country brings out the worst of human deprivation in every form. No wonder people engage in so many vices just to get the basic needs for their existence. I used to wonder maybe the SUV and official cars with tinted windows these unprudent officials drive they ply our roads in have blinded them from seeing the suffering of the masses. If our rulers failed to stop being power drunk, am sure a day will come when "somethings" will be showing them the way out of office willy-nilly. |
You can still be a Christian and hold your customs and that of your forefathers in high esteem (not by changing you last name to Moses. Keep your family name even if it says Ifa) it's your heritage or what should i say.Good talk. I wonder why some will go ahead and change their name into something else because it has something to do with their forebears. Those people must really be suffering from ignorance. |
I don't see any difference IFA will make. In fact it would worsen issues because its going to give almost limitless powers to the diviners who would also be used by politicians and it would lead us back to square 1.From that comment of yours you are infering that IFA will give limitless power to people as if that's the main reason for IFA divination. I only cited the Bible thing for you to know that both can co-exist because IFA worshippers live in peace and harmony with people around them, no matter their race or creed. |
There are of course people who still believe in IFA. Are they any better than some of us?I don't think you know what you are saying. This guy is talking about why we have abandoned our own culture for something else you are talking about politicians, does the two gel together? Real IFA worshippers live in real peace and harmony with people. My grand-father (of blessed memory) is an IFA priest and he never joke with his Bible till he died. |
My ideal Nigeria is one where 1.) All citizen will know his/her rights. 2.) Where leaders will be held accountable for their actions. 3.) Where everybody will be able to live in peace and harmony. 4.) Where there will be no discrimination against anybody. Above it all a Nigeria where all her citizen will know their right is what we must strive for. |
At times when i read some part of the Quran i used to wonder why some people claiming to be Muslims do engage in some bad acts. The Bible and the Quran have the same view and opinion on most issues partaining to the universe. |

For a Biblical, Quranic and Scientific prove about the end of the universe kindly read through this. The truth here is more or less the actuall truth about things that will most likely happen to this present universe as we know it. |
Am just seeing this. Everyone is guity of this so lets not point fingers. Try passing through the central area of Abuja where the national mosque is situated every friday of the month and see if this is possible. This has now become a haven for theives who snatch peoples stuff if they dare leave there car windows down.Government must be able to come up with measures to divert traffics from these religious centers from disturbing motorists. It's kinda wrong for these things to be going on like this, it think it's a stupid oversight on the part of government and those that have created those situations. |
Nigeria is large enough to accommodate another 100,000 Dangotes. The day Nigeria has 20 Dangotes is the day Nigeria will come out of the wood. |
My advice for fellow Nigerians is that if you want to go abroad go in a god-fearing and legitimate manner. Doing all sorts of illegalities to get there will most likely subject one into numerous untold hardships. Right as am typing this i have two friends (they are brothers) here with me that have "ja" only to be deported back to Nigeria. They did dropped out from the university, sold some family lands and stuff just to get out from here. It's kinda painful because when they are going you won't be anything to them. I think most people like them have been hoodwinked by those that come here flossing around. But me i can't be fazed since i know the truth about what's obtainable out there. And when you get there remember Nigeria and don't be like some that will spend their whole time lambasting a 2 months old child that has "failed" to run. |
You keep hoping and waiting for the switch to come on in Nigeria and i pray it will. But for now i have tried and have given up on that place and would truly encourage young Nigerian men to leave and find a better place to call home. Thanks bro for your advice. I really need your help, i have got bunch of friends that like you have said are ready to do just anything just to "ja", one is about 51 years old. I will like to know how you can help them all to secure a visa since most of them have been unceremoniously denied visa so many time. Am looking forward to how you can help your fellow brothers get a piece of the action. Dude trust me your skills and your reservation are one thing, but reality is something else. I came here with a degree which was not worth a damn when i arrived, because all the lecturers wants you to do was buy his handout and he will pass you or you can settle your way through college( U know "The Nigerian way"Am sorry about the worthlessness of your Nigeria degree. It's one of the things i have been advocating, Nigerian degrees are worthless for any right thinking person, hence the reason i have decided never to attend any of the ivory towers here. But with a hindsight, do you know that it's not the fault of the system, it's simply a result of how much you are paying. First and foremost, most western universities are not directly owned by the government (i.e. no subsidy), some are completely private owned. So why won't i get qualitative education when am paying through my nose to attend a 4 years course. The amount a student pay in a year to attend a sub-standard university in the US is more than enough to finance a student to graduation here (while such student must have been living in cheer opulence). So in that case there's no comparison bro. Until we are paying through out nose for these things we are demanding from the government we will never get the incentive to question the status quo. Simple. |
Until Nigerians understand that A JOB, IS A JOB, IS A JOB, WE ARE ALL DOOMED. Nigerians expect a salary and do not earn it. That is why you have people on this forum looking down at blue collar workers who for the most part are doing much better than them,(Joftech,Omon, and co). Until we understand that the is value to hard work, whether you flip burgers, or work construction or a software engineer for Goggle or even a CEO of a Fortune 500 Company, you still continue to work very hard and continue to understand the value of Hard work. This man am not saying blue collar job is bad, but i have my own personal reservations. I can't after all i have gone through in Nigeria get to any country to do any hard and undignifying labour when i have got some skills. I have promised myself never to go abroad and do menial jobs, that's my resolution i don't know about yours. If Nigeria is not giving me the best right now am ready to put up with it till she does that, because i know she will surely do. Am not like some that will be so stupid not to know how to make sensible comparison while claiming someone else is making comparison between Nigeria and the US. If someone without any immediate family burden is talking as if he’s living in heaven while on earth need something that will bring him to reality. The way that guy talk really shows that age has got nothing to do with being sensible. I wonder if some "people" on this thread even know the meaning of per capita income. I also wonder if some people here know the meaning of informal economy and income inequality metrics. Basing a country’s economic performance on mere academic / survey reports does not really give the reality on the street. To me the poverty line here in Nigeria is quite different from what might be applicable to any other country on planet earth. So anyone basing his assumptions about Nigeria based on figures from some sources that are not the reality on the ground here is only trying to cast a vapid outlook on this country. Though life here is not that so easy and stuff but my people here are soldiers, they fight their ways through life on a daily basis blazing through the glooms and chaos those bastards (political leaders) has cast over this nation. Nigerians keep your spirits flying; our better days are just round the corner. My soldiers keep swinging; our home- run is coming. |
Good points ijebuman. But we can never fathom what's in the minds of these leaders, i pray God will not allow any insane man to rule any of these WMD having nations |
That's an interesting article, and I think some Bibles have footnotes saying the number translated from the original Greek could be 616. However, that still does not dismiss how events are confirming the Biblical prophecies. See my previous posts. Here's another one. In the Bible, it is prophesied that Magog (modern Central Asia - Islamic republics of Russia), Meshech (Turkey), Tubal (Turkey) Persia (Iran), Ethiopa (modern day Sudan), Put (Libya), Gomer (also Turkey), and Beth-togarmah (Southern Turkey) would attack Israel. But God would defend Israel against them. Ezekiel 38-39. Interestingly enough, all of these nations are Muslim nations, and Iran, Libya, and Sudan are three of Israel's most fervent opponents. Recently, Iran has been trying to develop its nuclear weapons program. And its president recently said that Israel should be wiped off the earth. http://www.guardian.co.uk/iran/story/0,12858,1601413,00.html It is also interesting to note that Russia and Iran have signed a nuclear deal. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,177616,00.html; http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4301889.stm And, Israel fears that with the U.S. pulling out its troops from Iraq, that might embolden these nations to attack. http://www.jnewswire.com/library/article.php?articleid=494One of the major reasons why Arabs are always at a logerhead with Isreal stems from the fact that Arabs (Yishmael's descendant in Arabia, although some contest this, but we all know how Oduduwa came to Ife to dominae the locals that he met there hence the claim that the Yoruba race is from Arabia) are descendants of Abraham . I hope you know that Yishmael mother, Hagar was sent out of Abraham's househood so there's a natural tendency for Yishmael to have a bitter stance toward Isaac (father of Israel)just like between Jacob(Israel)and Esau). So i don't know if the rivalry that has been between the same family members for ages will lead to the sudden end of the world as we have been expecting. I want you to also know that the Babylonians and the Israel have been attacking each others even before Chrsit. |
. Got a second degree here and today i work for myself on my own terms. But the fact of life is that i had to do some jobs that i did not particularly think were up to par, but you know, i did what i had to do to get where i am. Truly everyone wants the best for themselves and family, but not everyone can afford to come from Nigeria and buy a house right away, you have to hustle, do some crappy jobs, remain focused and the best will come and you shall climb that economic ladder.
