I believe there was an initial thing the prince got right in the wrong scheme. Afterwards, everything continued to fall in place until something happened and then luckily and unluckily (luckily for the scammed and unluckily for the scammers) the scheme fell like a house of cards. The investigation has to disassemble the building blocks, layer by layer, down to the foundational blocks that provided the foundation for the fraudulent scheme. |

Life is full of choices. If you don't like the regulations in a place, you go to another place where you can be tolerated. If, for example, you go to a Deeper Life Church and they say you must cover your head as a woman, if you don't like it, you can go to Living Faith Church where you don't have to cover your head. There are different sects in Islam, if you don't like the way they do things in one, you go to another one that suits you. You don't go a place to impose your way of life. When in Rome, you do like the Romans. If you can't, you can go to Afganistan. |
Politics › Re: State Police Is A Right Step But It will Not Be Enough by johannu(m): 8:46am On Jul 01 |
lawani: State police is a right step but it will not be enough
It is only a full decentralization of security that will suffice. Local governments and the private sector should also be allowed to join the fray. This is mainly because some governors are compromised and may prove to be as bad if not worse than the federal government so far dealing with crimes and the protection of people are concerned. People who can afford to use other means to protect themselves should be allowed to do so
There is market in the country for security and at least fifty thousand police men and other men from other security institutions do guard duties for private individuals and companies. I believe it does not cost less than one hundred and fifty thousand naira per man per month. There is no reason a duly registered vigilante group should not be allowed to bear military grade weapons. Farming villages that pay fifty million naira frequently to bandits actually can protect themselves if their vigilante groups are allowed to be properly armed and even put under the police
To have peace, you need to also prepare for war. State police is good but things have gone too far south that it will almost certainly prove to be not enough especially in Northern Nigeria You're very much correct. What is worth doing is worth doing well. Even the state police they're proposing is not what a state police should be. What a country! |

SixSeven: 1. One-time phone number change
Under the new rules, customers can now change the phone number linked to their BVN only once in their lifetime. The policy targets rising cases of SIM-swap fraud, where criminals take over phone numbers to gain access to bank accounts.
Customers are therefore advised to link their BVN to a secure, long-term phone number—preferably one already tied to their National Identification Number (NIN).
This rule is nonsense. As much as it makes sense, it is not a long term thinking. We do not have permanent phone numbers. The number tied to my NIN can expire. People can and should have the right to change numbers any number of times they want. Nigeria should decide whether they are using NIN or not. A phone number should not be a personal identifiable number, it is even dangerous. The other time Minister of Interior under Buhari said no passport without NIN. Now, CBN wants to limit your BVN with NIN and OTPhone number. Let's stop making life more difficult for the average Nigerian.
Edit: A phone number is not an identity number and should never be tied to an identity. It is something you have, not something you are. There is no law that insists you must have a phone number for your bank account. You're right. But they don't think that way. |
Business › Re: CBN Tightens BVN Rules From May 1: 5 Key Changes To Know by johannu(m): 10:55pm On Apr 11 |
Bossman: The phone number should NOT be used as personal identification. That’s a recipe for disaster! People should have the right to change their phone number. And they should be able to do that multiple times without affecting their identity in the BVN system. If the system cannot accommodate that, then it’s a bad design. Good thinking |

Since they decided to include in the same table, names of persons and names of organisations, they should have simply used a single Name column instead of having two columns (First Name and Surname) S/N First Name Surname 27 INDIGENOUS BIAFRA (IPOB) 28 YAN GROUP 29 YAN GROUP NLBDG 30 ADAMU HASSAN
Why include Nationality and Birth Country columns that have virtually no entries.

festacman: The fact is that it is not the court's business if a detainee is given any kind of concessions on ground of health or status by the detaining authority as far as the detainee is provided in court as and when the court needs him.
So, releasing El rufai to bury his mother doesn't mean he is discharged and acquitted. El-Rufai's bail application is slated for next week. If they wanted to release him on compassionate ground to allow him bury his mother, they should have got a kangaroo court bail to release him. Releasing him the way they did clearly shows that they have no regard for the court. |
